Color! Composition still wonky, but this was done mainly to see how I liked the colors and such. I can reposition and resize birds/leaves/etc another time. And get a decent proper hexagon drawn up.

This has been an exercise in not letting perfection hold me back. I have to start getting back into art somehow, right?

Finally finished a chest that I've been working on for the last month on and off. It's not perfect and was a bit of a pain to build but it's done and functional. It's hickory panels with oak corners. The panels are pinned mortise and tenons. Main issue is there are some small gaps between the corners and panels. Also I should have offset the short panels and long panels mortise and tenons so that they didn't intersect. The short panels have a rabbit in their mortise so that they don't hit the long panels.

Ended up using a homemade ruby shellac for the finish and I think it really gave it a great color.

Also I originally intended a rounded top, but didn't have the right thickness of stock, nor the patience to do anything complex.

Overall a pretty fun project, however I definitely learned a lot about ways to simplify the design to make it easier to build something similar in the future.

Red Fire Oak / Fire Red Oak

i dunno why but i had a stroke trying to draw Red's eye even tho it wasnt that hard, why did i struggle so hard bruh😭

anyways i havent drawn Red in a while too (same with Volo but he is already there har har), it was definetly the hardest sh#t ever but i am somewhat proud of it (also his sewer rat made me pass away for a moment as i havent drawn pikachu at all {maybe i did before but i do not remember})

i wanted to add more characters but it was late at night and i didnt have the energy for it, also i had to rush things up as well so i might be missing a few things, so here, catch the red dude💥💥💥

green is a red know it all. he used to HATE being called out for it cuz they are rivals!!!!!!! he pays a lot of attention to them but because he wants to defeat him!!!!!!!! but as an adult Green(an annoyance) scoffs and corrects what you thought Red thinks. you're wrong and he's going to proceed to explain it to you in detail

The Morris/Stickley chair arms really looks good with a coat of Minwax Red stain. Will mix up some a blend of paint thinner, linseed oil and shellac for protective coating. This will take some time. It will soak into the red oak and harden protectively. I will then put another coat on three to seven days.

Still massively burned out and not exactly using my time wisely outside of going to work and keeping the plants and fish alive… but I roused from my art blocked stupor briefly to slap some color on this. I forgot how trees and leaves work, and composition, so that will come later. (Also can’t draw hexagons but that’s true for most people)

Personal art for my use only. I swear I will get back to other proper thing’s hopefully sooner rather than later?
