A Thought upon Second Viewing:
You know what I hope? That at least some of the young queers in the US who watch the Red, White, and Royal Blue movie for the deeply horny rom com are sufficiently inspired to register to vote. Regardless of what you personally feel about the realism of the romance, the part about voting mattering IS accurate. If we could mobilize the unregistered members of our own communities, it could seriously change US politics.

So, I loved the Red, White, and Royal Blue movie, but...Amazon, how on god's green earth did you manage to take a movie that is rated R, based on a book marketed to adults, and STILL mark it as "young adult target audience"???
This is an ongoing to pet peeve of mine. To be clear, there is nothing wrong with books or movies ACTUALLY being aimed at that audience. But so many queer stories that are aimed at older audiences get incorrectly marked that way. It seem that marketing folks are somehow under the impression that queer stories are inherently juvenile, which is just...oof.

The Red, White and Royal Blue movie may be different but the emotions in the lake house scene are the same
The wonder in Alex realizing that oh for the first time in his life he is in love with another person and he will tell him - that was the same
The panic and devastation in Henry realizing that oh despite what he wanted … what he planned … Alex somehow fell in love with him anyways and it‘s everything he wanted and everything he feared - that was the same
The emotional gut punch of the italicized oh on both of them was the same
The emotional gut punch on both of them when Henry dropped into the water and stayed in the water cause he couldn’t bear to hear it the italicized oh out loud? It was the same.
And so were the emotions surrounding the leak and yes, things were changed but a lot stayed the same and a lot that mattered stayed the same
