hello everyone 🥰

long story short, we reached 1K of you here back in december, right before the 5sos anniversary, and with all the chaos that followed i really didn’t think i was gonna do anything to highlight it at all! but i’ve always liked the idea of putting together a little something to celebrate this community that’s very dear to me, so as both a celebration of hitting 1k followers and as a thank you for the birthday love, i’ll be hosting a little something over the next few weeks!

since i couldn’t land on only one thing, i’ll be doing a build-your-post type of thing (think build-a-bear but with the shit i can do lmao) you can ask for anything from the list below, and you can also combine them if you’d like to (for example, lyric edit + playlist, playlist prompt + moodboard, a song that reminds me of your blog + moodboard, etc you get the idea!!)

playlist (you can request a playlist name, a scenario/vibe, built around a specific song/lyric etc…)

lyric edit (any song! it doesn’t have to be only 5sos or a song i know! if you wanna expand on what you like about that lyric or anything to help me capture the vibe, go for it)

comedown to me is really about allowing yourself to grow through the good and the bad and everything in between. “let it come down on me” speaks so much to me and i love how comedown wraps up the album SO well!! this playlist is kinda built around that idea of allowing yourself to feel it all, highlighting different emotions and with a focus on the comforting and hopeful nature that i find in comedown

i put a lot of thoughts into this (maybe too much lol), so under the cut is a little commentary for each song :)

comedown - it’s a playlist built around comedown, so comedown naturally had to go first! it really sets the mood for the whole thing

the deepest sighs, the frankest shadows by gang of youths - first of all, comedown transitions so well into this!! this song to me highlights that human life isn’t perfect and that there’s beauty to be found in that. on every playlist to which i add comedown, this one usually follows. i particularly like the chorus:

'Cause not everything means something, honey

so say the unsayable, say the most human of things

and if everything is temporary

I will bear the unbearable, terrible triteness of being

no choir by florence + the machine - this songs tells me that happiness can be simple, quiet, it doesn’t have to always be loud, and i love that quite a lot!

both sides now by gang of youth - this is a cover of a joni mitchell song, and i love this version. this song highlights how there are multiple sides to each situation, and to me personally i interpret it as being able to look back at your life experiences and see new perspectives, that make you appreciate a moment more deeply, and somewhere in between, to not get too caught up in your own versions of things, a ‘to live more freely in the moment’ kind of thing!

your hand in mine by explosions in the sky - this one is all instrumental!! there’s a 8 minute long version of this song that’s incredible, but for this playlist i went with the shorter one. i love how with only instrumentals, this song makes me feel so much!

repeat by luke hemmings - i love the songwriting on this song, it’s really one of my fav songs off wfttwtaf. the whole album is very introspective in nature, but repeat and comedown (along with starting line) were the ones that personally spoke to me the most. i’ve since then kinda always associated comedown and repeat together, just from how i could relate to the lyrics and how they quickly became favourites!

carry you by novo amor - the build-up!!! this song is here because of how it builds and explodes, similarly to comedown. it nurtures that same emotion in me.

O by coldplay - gorgeous song!! i just really like the image of the birds and flying in this song, which i’ve always associated with kind of removing weight of our shoulders to allow us to fly with the birds. i’m not gonna get all philosophical here, but there’s a lot i could say about this one!

how can i make it okay by wolf alice - ahhhh this song!! i added this one as a small nod to the silver lining on camellia street lyrics. i just really love these lyrics

waves by young the giant - again, i like the imagery, specially the image of waves to represent the up and downs. the second verse lyrics really speaks to me for that

outer space/carry on by 5sos - osco kinda just had to be here, right? my og ‘it’s gonna get better’ song. i once said osco just heightens whatever i’m feeling in that moment, and comedown kinda does the same thing!

free if we want it by nothing but thieves - man this song just makes me feel things. i really wanted it on here 1- because i absolutely adore this song and wanted to share it and 2- the outro is everything

spark by amber run - i really love the repeated “let the light in” lyrics, it just really accentuates that positive feeling, it’s so good!!

do not let your spirit wane by gang of youths - my hopeful song of excellence!! nothing speaks to me more than that sentence. and i love how it builds!!! i knew right away i wanted to end the playlist with this one (fyi gang of youth’s go farther in lightness album fits very well thematically with comedown, if ever you want to give it a listen)

patience by the lumineers - i love this piano track, and it played after do not let your spirit wane while i was putting this together and it fitted so nicely, so i left it here. i like that it ends the playlist of a soft, hopeful note <3

congrats on 1k!! ily!! i have had the privilege of you making me playlists before and you've been killing it with these moodboards soooo lemme abuse this and ask you to choose between broken machine and moral panic and maybe a mb for the album of your choice? could be based on the cover art, the vibes you get from the songs or the album overall, include mv aes or not, with lyrics or not, anything you'd like basically bc i am craving some more quality nbt content on this app and i trust you with it <3
