ever think about how when louis was asking armand to witness madeleine's turning, he was basically inviting him into the family by asking him to attend his daughter's wedding/hold his hand in the delivery room. and when armand essentially replies "i will not go unless you force me to" he tells him he doesn't have to and reassures him. and then what goes on in their respective heads in that exact moment are:

every time i rewatch the miracle aligner music video i am just flabbergasted. FLABBERGASTED. like. they really chose to make it like THAT. and by 'like THAT' i am specifically referring to:

1) “an attempt to extract the truth... approximately" *cue rosepetals and intense eye contact*

2) THIS being the opening shot of the two of them

3) miles legitimately spending the first minute of the entire video blatantly checking alex out

4) literal rainbow lighting around them

5) endless hand holding and twirling

6) that moment where miles's hand reaches ever so reflexively for alex's neck

7) the fucking closing scene?????????

Am going to see a production of the lightning thief and it’s so interesting to me how the soundtrack is such a fundamentally different story to the book. It’s so character driven, with only slightly more than half the official songs actually communicating any plot at all. 8 are dedicated almost entirely to lore and character motivation. It’s not even that the musical is unfaithful on a technical level (though again, I’ve only listened to the soundtrack), but emotional focus is incredibly amplified. This obviously is largely because musical theatre is a largely emotional medium, but it can’t just be that.

The second song pretty much just explains Sally’s character and the impact it has on Percy. The campfire song is pure setup for the series conflict and context for Luke’s betrayal.There are 2 I want songs!! Both of which aren’t redundant at all. Grover has a song explaining the backstory that the lightning thief as a story is a response to. Another terrible day is somewhat explaining what camp half blood is but mainly just establishing the character of Dionysus. While the last day of summer is of course where the reveal happens, it’s mainly about Luke’s resentment.

The plot simply isn’t that important, which is honestly not the way I’d think a stand alone musical based on a book that while characters were pretty reliant on their continued progression, the plot itself pretty much stood on its own if you mildly demphasize Kronos.
