The long, LONG delayed final image in my “OCs & Inspirations” series, at least for now. This was originally intended to be part of a bunch of pics commemorating Disney’s 100th Anniversary, but the artist was facing some difficulties, so it took much longer than expected. I don’t mind in the least, however, because this was more than worth the wait…and hey, Valentine’s Day may not be the most obvious holiday of choice to release this, but a holiday is still a holiday. And with these two, it felt right to post their pic on such an occasion. Oh, on that note, before I go on: the image was made by @hooter-n-company, who also did my image for Nakoda and Kaa for the series a while back. I can’t honestly decide which of them I like more, between this image and that one; they’re both absolutely breathtaking. Her work always is. Thank you, Hoots. <3 ANYWAY…Reno was the first character I specifically created as a sort of “correction” to an old pred crush of mine. Nako and Billy being more “appealing” versions of their source inspirations (for me) was just sort of a welcome bonus. But with Reno, I deliberately created him with the idea of taking a character I used to have an interest in “that way,” but no longer do, and then creating someone I could “kinkify” more easily via the power of Twisted Wonderland’s universe. When I was a kid, I used to have a bit of a crush on Oogie Boogie from “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” I even had some rather…VIVID dreams, involving this big bag of bugs, which I shall always remember. However, over time, my interests and ideals with such things changed, and as they did, my love for Oogie dwindled. Reno was my way of trying to do something more “me” with the character.

The name “Reno” comes from Reno, Nevada. It was suggested by my friend, @belliesandburps. Since Reno is just a big a gambler as Oogie, it seemed fitting to use the name of a city known for gambling - and in the same state as arguably the gambler paradise of the world, Las Vegas - for his name. “Rovar” comes from a Hungarian word meaning “insect,” which of course fit perfectly. Combined, the two have a similar sort of “bounce” and syllabic structur to “Oogie Boogie,” and the alliteration was amusing to me. In terms of personality, Reno, in a way, is Oogie…but with a sort of soft side. Like, his source material, he is crass, crude, loud, rowdy, mischievous, a bit sadistic, and constantly thinks with his stomach. HOWEVER, for all his jagged edges, Reno isn’t someone who does bad things just for the sheer sake of it, unlike Oogie. Reno still has the capacity to care about people, and even some of the more “evil” things he’s done were usually out of a sort of bitter desire to get back at people he felt were more fortunate, while also helping himself and those he cared about in the process. He’s not the easiest person to get along with, but he’s not a literal monster.

I decided to sort of reverse things in terms of the way Oogie’s true self is revealed in the film, for Reno. In the movie, Oogie glows green in blacklight, but his actual appearance is a much duller beige hue. And of course, when you strip away the bag, he’s a collection of creepy crawlies underneath. So, with Reno, his human form has dull colors, with a sweater that resembles Oogie’s burlap, but his true form - a sort of “demi bug” - is colored in shades of vibrant green. His Overblot form, meanwhile - which Hoots helped IMMENSELY with working out - has a sort of neon appearance, inspired by the look of Oogie’s lair, and is a collection of different elements from different arthropods.

In this case, I think the different colors help the pair stand in good contrast to each other. ;)

How would Rook call your Twst Ocs in his own way?

Oooooh, that's a toughy. Let me see...

Nakoda = Monsieur Serpent. This one is obvious. XD Billy = Monsieur Géant. This can be taken as him just calling Billy by his natural last name, or referring to him as "Mr. Giant," because Géant literally means "giant" in French. Either way, it's fitting.

Elias = Monsieur Encre. "Encre" is "Ink" in French.

Reno = Monsieur Joueur. "Joueur" is "gambler" in French.

James = Roi des Pirates. One of only two OCs of mine that Rook refers to as "Roi;" he typically saves that title specifically for Housewardens, but I decided to cheat in two cases, James being one of them. This means "King of Pirates" or "Pirate King."

Smitty = Monsieur Lunettes. "Lunettes" means "glasses." In the original book for "Peter Pan," Barrie makes a point of Smee's glasses, at one point saying he has a habit of cleaning his spectacles after killing people. (Yeah, for the record, at least in the book version? DO NOT PISS OFF SMEE.) Of course, both Smitty and the Disney Smee he is based on (who thankfully barely seems capable of swatting a fly, let alone murdering anybody) also wear glasses.

Maelstrom = Monsieur Tourbillon. "Tourbillon" literally means "whirlpool" - or "maelstrom" - in French.

Theodore = Monsieur Corbeau. "Corbeau" means "raven" in French. This is in reference to Theodore's arguably somewhat birdlike traits: his sharp features, his love of flying, his dark clothes, and even the raven feather in his hat. It's also a sort of sideways reference to how the Wicked Witch of the West, in the original Oz book, sent a flock of blackbirds to attack the heroes at one point.

Grit = Roi de Pierre. Like I said, Rook typically saves the "Roi" title for Housewardens in the game, but since Grit is actually based on the Nome King, I felt he deserved an equally kingly title. The full nickname means "King of Stone."

What would all your TW OCs be doing at a New Year's Eve party?

Billy, Nako, Reno, Elias, and Grit would be engaging in the world's longest eating contest, which won't end till midnight, and will conclude with a giant, simultaneous belch as the hour rolls in. Smitty will be quietly playing a game in the corner. James will be the judge of the contest...and probably passes out part of the way through). XD Oh, and where are Maelstrom and Theodore? They're not at the party. Theo is flying about on his broom, and Maelstrom is in the ocean, each waiting to watch the fireworks go off in honor of the date. Both love fireworks, but neither would want to admit it or be caught doing it in public. No, they aren't watching them together...not consciously, anyway. Maybe Theodore is coincidentally flying near Maelstrom though, which could lead to some funny awkwardness. Use your imagination there. ;)

How would your twst ocs react to their s/o just dreamily staring at them and when called out, they tell them that they're just too handsome not to look at? Asking because I'm feeling good today lol

Well, part of this concept involves what the pair are DOING when the S/O gets caught staring at the OC. For the sake of this set of headcanons, I'm imagining the specific scenario is the OC in question and their S/O are in the school library. Maybe they're there to study, maybe they're just chatting in hushed voices, but either way, they're in an out-of-the-way spot of the area, and the OC stops whatever they are doing when they notice the S/O gazing upon them... Nakoda is very well aware of the fact he's absolutely freaking gorgeous, and prides himself in it. So somebody telling him he's handsome and eye-catching is nothing new. His reaction, of course, is to tease his little "sssweetheart," perhaps offering to let you see a lot more than his face somewhere more private. Don't take this to mean he doesn't appreciate the compliment though: he might even be blushing a little bit, since your praise means more to him than anybody else's. Billy is proud of his body, and has a certain amount of ego...but he's not used to someone just...sincerely and happily telling him he looks handsome. In fact, his first reaction when he catches you staring is worrying if he has something stuck in his teeth or whatever. Once you tell him that, no, you just like looking at him...he'll blush and give you a big, gap-toothed smile. "Awwww...well, thank you! I like looking at you, too! ^///^ " Elias will frown when he catches you, and calmly recommend you both get back to the books you're studying for class. When you tell him he's too handsome to focus on studying...his ears will perk up and his eyes will widen. His face will flush, and you can hear his tail beating against his seat as it starts to wag. After a bit, he'll calm down, a bashful smile on his face as he chuckles nervously and adjusts his glasses: "Heh heh...yes, well...be that as it may..." He tries to refocus, but after a moment, you can't help but hear him mumble: "Come on, I didn't even have a quote prepared for a response...you've gotta give me time to rehearse my reactions, jeeze..."

Reno will scowl and sneer, and actually look behind and around him, as it literally doesn't even remotely occur to him you could be admiring his face. He might even snap his fingers in your face, growling for you to focus up: you agreed to play cards with him if he agreed to study with you a bit here. He'd like to finish and get to the game ASAP. When you tell him what distracted you...his eyes will widen...then he'll snicker and shake his head: "Yeah, right. Ya don't hafta lie to me, y'know." When you make it clear you are NOT lying...well...you've got a blushy bug boi on your hands now. Do with that what you will. ;) James will be somewhat similar to Elias in response, but with one key difference: when you tell him what distracted you, his response is basically this: "...I...I am? I mean...OF COURSE! Yes, I know, I'm devilishly handsome to behold! But, ah...perhaps we can admire my splendid features later?" He'll be blushing, but he'll be filled with more pride than ever for the rest of the day. He might even brag about it to Smitty: "My darling thinks I'M the most handsome creature in the world! They can't take their eyes off me! Ha HA! Take that, Satyr, Mr. Can't-Keep-a-Mate-to-Save-His-Sorry-Life! Let's see you top THAT! >:D " Smitty...will be confused what you're staring at, and might even be a bit concerned. Once you explain to him...he immediately covers his face with his hat while making flustered sounds. Precious little dear. Maelstrom will be looking through a book of art, and glare over the rims of his reading glasses. He growls about how you don't have to stare at his glasses like that, it's not like you haven't seen him wear them before...he's not fond of when people bring attention to them. However, you tell him it's not his glasses you're looking at. Just him. All of him. And as far as the glasses go, you think he looks good in them. He'll just...stare at you, somewhat slack-jawed, startled, even stunned...before coughing into a fist and blushing as he mutters, "Wh-Whatever. Just...focus on what we're supposed to be lookin' at, got it?" You do notice, however, that after that point, he seems a lot less bothered about wearing his glasses in class. Theodore and Grit, I'm not sure yet, but I can guarantee they're another couple of boys who get blushy to some degree or another. Running theme with the whole team. ;)

What kind of swimsuit do your twst ocs wear? Do they have a preference for a certain type, or wear a particular one for any reason?

Honestly, all I have to say to that is this: Elias (who dislikes water, anyway), Smitty, Reno, and Theodore (who also dislikes water) would all wear swimsuits that cover up their tops in some form or another. Billy, Nako, Grit, and Maelstrom would all be topless. Because there's no way in heck I'm hiding those bodies from view. In Maelstrom's case, he might just turn into his mer-whale form, anyway, so forget the swimsuit. XD

I can't decide if James would be topless or not. LOL

What are your Twst lads like in terms of ragequitting games? Ranking on a scale of silently fuming/about to curse someone out to about to break something/eat someone?

Hmmm...well, for a start, Smitty doesn't ragequit. At all. Like, if he quits a game because he can't win or something, it's not so much out of anger so much as he just...gets bored with it. XD He doesn't have enough anger in his soul to rage at games. Most of the time, he just takes the punches, so to speak. Elias and Grit I see as people who would do their best to keep a smile on and avoid the rage for a while. Both of them are the type to suffer a humiliating defeat...take a deep breath through their nose...let it out...and keep a smile on even as they internally start wanting to kill things. XD I think Grit is actually more likely to get to that point quicker than Elias, but he's also the one I think who will break last, if that makes any sense. Billy will try his best to keep a happy face and such, but I think at some point, if he starts really losing badly, he'll start to get all sad...and the sadness will inevitably give in to anger...aaand the anger will lead to a pouting, petulant giant sitting on the game while somebody is squirming in his gut. XD Maelstrom, James, Nakoda, and Theodore I think are all equally likely to rage quit with a snarl and a sneer and many a threat. Like, they just go full anger. XD And Reno...he's an odd one. As I've shown in the past, Reno HATES to lose, and he's quick to accuse people of cheating if he feels he's losing. But in a game where it's just HIMSELF, like with video games that aren't multiplayer, I think it takes him more time to get angry, because then he can't exactly vent his frustrations on an external force. So basically, he keeps his cool when in solo stuff - still gets mad, but doesn't flip out or takes longer to get there - but in a game against others, he can take way less time to grow incensed.

How would your twst ocs react if someone proposed to them?

Ohhhhh...oh, this is gonna be a HARD one. XD I'm really not good at the hyper-romantic type stuff! But I'll try my best... First of all, let's completely disregard the gender of the other party: male, female, undecided...it doesn't matter, love is love, a proposal is a proposal. So if you're looking for explicit M/M or F/M stuff, not happening. XD With that said... I feel like, with James, Elias, Grit, and Maelstrom, in particular...no one would propose to them. Oh, no. THEY would propose to YOU first. Inarguably. Why? Well, James has a swashbuckler's sort of cavalier chivalry, despite his piratical attitude at times, so I think he would feel it's his duty to be the one to make the proposal first. Elias, meanwhile, just has a tendency to be very melodramatic in general. So he'd WANT to make that proposal first. He'd have a freaking speech or poem or song prepared for it and everything. Grit and Maelstrom...I feel both of them have a commonality of being raised a certain way by their parents. In both cases, they were taught to be the ones to make the proposal, so propose they shall. So ask not how they would react to someone proposing to them: ask instead how YOU would react if THEY proposed. ;) With those four out of the way, that leaves us with Nakoda, Billy, Reno, Smitty, and Theodore. In all five cases, I think there's a better chance of the other party proposing before they do, for various reasons. With both Smitty and Billy, I think they'd be very, very blushy. I mean, they're both still getting over the fact they have an S/O to begin with, somebody who is "more than a friend," someone who will give them hugs and even kisses and say loving things to them and go out on dates and so on. They're honestly very content there already. So when the other party reveals they're ready to go the next step...it's a mixture of excitement, nervousness, and absolute bewilderment this is happening at all. And you can be darn sure it's going to end in a LOT of cuddling...in Smitty's case, it's like hugging a teddy bear. In Billy's, it's more like the teddy is hugging you. ;) In Reno's case, he'd be caught off guard, but he'd also try to recover and save face as quickly as possible. He'd smirk and try to show off, laughing about how he wondered how long it would take you, before sort of snorting and saying that he'll accept, provided you give him a kiss right there and then. Just ignore the way his pale cheeks turn a bit pink, or how fast his heart is beating. ;) Theodore would, I think, just sort of freeze up, his eyes VERY wide. He'd be absolutely stunned. After you finish, he'd actually start laughing hysterically; a high-flying, cackling, almost insane laugh, wiping as he eyes and cackling about how he thinks you MUST be joking. Once he gets it through his head that, no, you are VERY serious...I think he'd switch instantly from cackling at the "joke" to sort of scowling as he tries to figure out what you even see in him. But eventually he'd accept it and give you a rare, soft smile before saying yes...mind you, with the added (affectionate) taunt that you have to be very dumb to propose to him. The kiss on your nose indicates he doesn't mind. As for Nakoda...he is different from all the rest. Because while all the rest will accept right then and there...he won't. He won't say no, either. He'll say he has to think about it. And he means it: he DOES have to think about it. Nako, as I've indicated many times in the past, isn't really used to long-running romantic relationships. He's used to one night stands...and a lot of those end with his partner ending up as food. So, even more than Smitty and Billy...he NEVER thought he'd get this far. He's been trying hard, mind you, but the very IDEA that this could become something more...that's something he almost can't wrap his head around. And it now means he has to really figure out what it's going to mean if he says yes. It's not that he doesn't trust you with all this, it's that he doesn't trust HIMSELF. Eventually, he'll say yes...then it's all a question of what comes next.

THIRD TIME’S THE CHARM- you already know who it is, it’s me. Ya boi. ANYWAY!

What sort of activities or hobbies do your TWST ocs like to do in their free time? Could be with friends included but I was thinking when they’re alone.

Billy enjoys cooking. He's actually a surprisingly good chef, and he legitimately likes making different things. He also likes to wrestle: I headcanon there's a wrestling club at NRC in the time my OCs arrive, and Billy joins it within its first semester. Obviously that's something he can't really do on his own though. I also think he occasionally likes playing video games, and - when he is with friends - probably enjoys playing board games. He also genuinely makes a hobby of counting the treasure he has at his house, whenever home; he's a little paranoid about thieves, and it gives him something to do that keeps his mind off other problems. Nakoda likes to read, although I'm not sure what specific mediums or genres. (On that note, I'm an avid reader myself, so that's a common pasttime for several of my OCs, largely as a result.) I used to say Nakoda was good at painting, but I kind of go back and forth on that one, simply because Maelstrom is also very into painted art. Presuming I keep that canon to his character, that's definitely another hobby of his. I also like to think that, while Nakoda really isn't into Video Games, he IS something of an Internet junkie. Not so much social media, but more video watching and browsing, idling the time away with that kind of stuff. Finally, he also enjoys dancing and singing, but typically that's something better done with a partner, or at least an audience. Of course, Nako's favorite "hobbies" are a bit too graphic to describe here...and typically take two to tango with. Ahem. >_> Elias, of course, loves the theatre and loves to sing. He's also an avid reader, like myself, and enjoys a lot of genres and styles. He also loves drawing; he carries a sketchpad with him frequently. He also enjoys board games, and video games, from time to time, but typically only plays those with other people. Finally, he's a bit of cinephile and enjoys watching all kinds of movies, as well as listening to old-time radio shows here and there.

Reno is all about games. Whether it's on his own or with other players, basically gaming is his biggest hobby, and he plays all kinds of games. Video games, dice games, board games, card games, slot machine games, pinball games, billiard games...you name it, he probably plays it, or knows somebody who plays it, or just generally knows a bit about it. Ironically, though, he's not SUPER into sports; he's not an athletic kind of guy. Those are the only games he's not really into. He also has an ant farm in his room, so I suppose that's another hobby of his, if it counts. James is yet another avid reader, and particularly enjoys what could be considered classic literature. (Much like myself.) He also likes fishing from time to time, as well as sailing in general. I headcanon he has a little sailboat he keeps somewhere (not sure exactly where), and - when he has time - he'll take the little craft out to the beach, go off onto the water, and start fishing or just...set a course and sail around the island. Just to relax, so to speak. I also think that, much like Azul, he's a coin collector: a hobby both share. Finally, James is a very skilled and practiced fencer, so he enjoys that, but it's another thing you can't really do alone too often, aside from just practicing the motions or against dummy targets and such. Smitty has a pet parakeet named Little Tom, and takes care of him; not sure if that counts as a "hobby," but it's certainly something. (I only just decided this right now, and it's a reference to pirates having pet parrots.) He is, surprisingly, a bit of a gamer, but he especially enjoys games he can play online or with friends. Like James, he enjoys fishing; in fact, his father is a fisherman. However, he doesn't have a boat of his own. So, sometimes he'll go sailing out with James, and sometimes he'll just sit on the shore or beside a river or lake and just kick back on his own to relax and catch something. Like Billy, he's also a very good cook, although I think Billy might have a bit more experience with a variety of dishes compared to Smitty, who specializes primarily in seafood, steak, and a few side dish staples. Maelstrom likes to paint, and likes to sing and even compose his own songs in privacy. He also just likes listening to music in general, and enjoys reading - particularly books about art and the ocean. Like Nakoda, I also think he has a thing for nature documentaries...especially ones about whales. ;) Being a mer-person, he enjoys swimming, either in his human form or in his true form...of course, in the latter case, he can only swim THAT way by going down to the ocean. Theodore is a flying ace. He loves flying on his broomstick, loves the experience of flying. He doesn't just fly to compete, he flies because he likes doing it. So sometimes, much in the way James will go sailing around the island, Theo will jump on his broom and fly to some quiet part of the island to reflect or just take a few laps around the campus, or whatever. Once again, he's an avid reader, but he specifically likes reading informative texts about magic and its history: he's genuinely interested in magic itself and learning new tricks and tools of the trade, partially because he figures the more he learns, the more powerful he will become. Grit is a gem collector. He likes going into the mountains, or into the mines, looking for gemstones for his collection. Indeed, Grim enjoys hiking and other such things; he's not so much a fan of nature as much as he is a fan of earth, if that makes any sense at all. He can't tell you a thing about trees or mushrooms, but - being part Nome, and living most of his life underground - he knows a LOT about rocks and minerals. (On a side note, I weirdly think he and Jade would get along pretty well: both love the mountains, but for somewhat different reasons, and both would probably relate to and teach other a lot.) He's also big on exercise; he likes working out by lifting weights and going for a jog now and then. He's by far the most physically fit and buffed-up of all my OCs.

My Twisted Wonderland OCs (As Of Now)

So, for most people who follow me, this post is gonna be kind of redundant. XD But, sort of as a way of just catching people up to date with stuff, I wanted to give you all a quick rundown of all of my major Twisted Wonderland OCs…at least, the ones that have some form of art to reference so far, which is thankfully most of them.

Not all these characters have shown up in stories YET, but I do have plans for all of them. And if anybody ever wants to commission a story featuring any of them, I’m open to hearing the ideas. Also, keep in mind, I’m only including what I consider “Major” OCs, meaning they’re students of NRC. I won’t be counting any staff OCs I’ve made, any oneshot characters I don’t plan to use again, nor any characters I still don’t have art for. I also won’t be including OCs that don’t actually belong to me, so you won’t be seeing the likes of Tock Crockwork or Harmonia here. I will be including some very, VERY basic information about each character here, including a super, SUPER condensed bio, and an art reference. With all that said…in order of appearance…

Full Name: Nakoda “Nako” Spivak

Source/Inspiration: Kaa, from Disney’s Jungle Book.

Dorm: Savanaclaw.

BIO

Nakoda is a naga who can transform from his true half-serpentine form to a more humanoid look, which is pictured above. His Unique Magic is called “Trust in Me,” and when activated, anyone who looks into his eyes and hears his voice is put under his spell, becoming a brainwashed servant, subservient to his will, adoring him and willing to do anything for him. Nako grew up in a poor neighborhood, and never really felt he had much control over his own life; he turned to crime in an attempt to gain control of his life, and eventually made his way to Night Raven College. Nako is both constantly hungry and constantly thirsty; when he says he wants you inside of him, he can mean it two different ways, sometimes at the same time. He has a very dirty mind and constantly carries himself with a sensual, seductive, domineering air. However, under the lusty bravado, he has many insecurities; he’s prone to throwing tantrums when he’s particularly frustrated, and if he’s threatened, his inner cowardice shows itself quickly.

BIO

Billy is a literal giant; an ogre who hails from the Kingdom Above the Clouds. He is actually a distant descendant/relative of the legendary Giant who terrorized Happy Valley and stole the Singing Harp, although the way HE learned the story was rather different: he is proud of his heritage. His Unique Magic - “Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum” - is a throwback to his ancestor, and allows Billy to change into anything he wants. Billy is actually a pretty gentle giant: having not had many attachments growing up, he really just wants to make friends above all else, and tends to be cheerful and affectionate in everything he does. At times he does show a slight ego, or a slightly aggressive, even occasionally mischievous, edge. However, he’s usually very friendly and sweet-natured. While he isn’t very bright…AT ALL…Billy is very loyal to those he considers his friends (which is practically everyone), and will do anything he can to help them. HOWEVER, there is a dark side to Billy Géant: he has a bit of a temper, and when he’s PARTICULARLY enraged, he becomes downright dangerous. Sweethearted as he often may be, he’s still a man-eating giant, and you DO not want to cross him.

Full Name: Elias “Eli” Gottfredson Inque.

Source/Inspiration: The Phantom Blot, from the Mickey Mouse Universe.

BIO

Elias G. Inque is a theatrical soul of the highest sort. He is the consummate “theatre kid,” in love with popular musicals and Shakespeare, especially, and forever craving the spotlight. Elias’ Unique Magic, “Inkwell,” allows him to physically transform into a being made purely of Blot, and allows him to manipulate the inky substance to his own ends. However, staying too long in this “Blot Form” can lead to an absolutely MONSTROUS Overblot situation, so he uses his powers as sparingly as possible. Elias used his UM to take on a dual identity: the mysterious thief called The Phantom Blot - a title that has been passed on over the centuries to different people. As the Phantom, Eli enacted an elaborate scheme to try and gain some form of recognition, which he never felt he had enough of in life; nowadays, he’s more or less reformed…but you should still make sure to mind your valuables around him. Eli is in some ways a very grounded, casual individual, and in other ways a total and complete ham. He’s typically laid-back and easygoing, but he has a decided flair for the melodramatic, unable to resist the chance to deliver over-the-top monologues and sing grand musical numbers. Being a dogboy, he’s also pretty constantly ravenous. Do not trust him when he activates the puppy dog eye maneuver.

Source/Inspiration: Oogie Boogie, from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Dorm: Ignihyde.

BIO

Reno, much like Nakoda, is a beastly creature in disguise. His true form is a green half-bug creature, but he typically hides this by taking on a more humanoid appearance. Reno is crass, crude, loud, rough, and slightly paranoid. His parents are the owners of a once-prosperous casino and hotel, which - until recently - was in bad danger of closing down due to lack of sufficient support and funds. Reno grew up around gamblers, and he’s become VERY fond of various games: from chess to poker to various dice games and more, Reno is a master player of many things…but he doesn’t always play fair. Hypocritically, he’s quick to call others cheats if he feels he’s losing too easily. Reno’s Unique Magic is “Bug Eyes,” which allows him to control the minds of insects and even see through their eyes. The more insects he controls at once, the more magic he has to output, which means that overuse in large doses can lead to Overblot. Being an insectoid type himself, Reno is very fond of bugs, and actually keeps an ant farm in his room, treating the ants like truly beloved pets. Underneath his surly and slightly unsettling demeanor, Reno does have a soft side…he just doesn’t always like to show it.

BIO

James is the son of a teacher and a sailor, and his personality matches both. He’s fond of using nautical phrases, and knows a great deal about the ocean, sailing, and other such things. On the flip side, he’s a bit grandiloquent and scholarly, enjoying classical literature and subjects of history, in particular. He’s also skilled as a swordsman; a gifted and practiced fencer who actually carries a cane sword on him at all times. James is an attention hog of the highest order: he is ALWAYS trying to play himself up as a charismatic and grand figure, in the typical style of a swashbuckling cavalier, and has no small amount of vanity. In reality, much of this showboating hides a deep-rooted sense of insecurity, as James has always felt like nobody appreciates him, due to events that happened in his life before coming to NRC. On that note, James has an arch-rival who attends Royal Sword Academy: Matthew Satyr, a former classmate and fellow fencer who has long been a thorn in James’ side. Whenever Killian and Satyr are anywhere near each other, or when Matthew’s name gets brought up, James becomes OBSESSED and filled with passionate, vengeful anger. It is one of his many great weaknesses. James’ Unique Magic is called “Doubt & Deception”: whenever he touches someone with his left hand, he can then activate this power by snapping the fingers of the same hand. The person he has touched will then suddenly be overcome by a wave of intense, depressing emotions, and the weight of these thoughts will quite literally drag them down, forcing them to move slower, or even outright become paralyzed with despair. The insidious thing about this power is that, once James has touched somebody, he can activate it at any time…but once he uses it one time, he has to touch you again before he can use it a second time.

BIO

Smitty is James Killian’s best friend and effective partner in crime. The two have known each other for years, long before both came to Night Raven and were each sorted into Heartslabyul. Smitty is extremely loyal to James, genuinely looking up to him and wanting to help him in any way he can. He worries about his friend constantly, always trying to find ways to help James relax when he knows he’s stressed out…and less-than-secretly hoping James will someday put aside the grudge he has on Matthew Satyr. Smitty is small and sweet-tempered, very mild-mannered and occasionally a stutterer, which often causes people to underestimate him…which he really doesn’t mind, as - unlike James - Smitty has never really demanded attention nor the spotlight. He’s perfectly happy just following his friend. However, Smitty’s Unique Magic - called “Blast Them!” - is probably one of the most potently destructive of any ability: it works similarly to Bakugou’s power from MHA, as Smitty is able to create and project fiery, explosive pulses. In smaller doses, they do little more than knock opponents flat onto their backs, but they can become much more dangerous when used in rapid succession. Smitty doesn’t fully have control over his power (he’s not the best aim), which makes it all the more unpredictable when activated.

Full Name: Maelstrom Baleno.

Source/Inspiration: Monstro, from Pinocchio.

Dorm: Octavinelle.

BIO

Maelstrom is a mer-whale in disguise, with a bullying, thuggish personality. He suffers from what might be called “I Am the Hype! Syndrome.” Basically, he grew up believing that he was perfect: the strongest, toughest, most powerful thing in the entire world. Something happened, however, that caused Maelstrom to rethink his own worldview…and, unable to fully cope with the realization of his fundamental weakness, he effectively snapped. Maelstrom now spends his time flaunting his powers and strength, belittling and oppressing rather than seeking to help and serve. He’s a total glutton, too, and this fact isn’t helped by his Unique Magic: “Belly of the Whale.” This ability allows Maelstrom to form a whirlpool-like suction that can drag anything (or anyone) of virtually any size into his stomach, trapping them in a sort of hammerspace type situation. Typically, victims who are swallowed by Maelstrom will not be allowed to escape his stomach unless he allows them to. Beneath this nasty exterior, however, Maelstrom does have his soft sides: he secretly has a deep love of music and art, in particular…but don’t bring that up, or you might end up his dinner.

Full Name: Theodore “Theo” Hamilton.

Source/Inspiration: Theodora the Wicked Witch of the West, from Oz the Great and Powerful.

Dorm: Diasomnia.

BIO

Theodore is a vindictive, ambitious young man who feels cheated by the world. He actually doesn’t WANT to be a part of Night Raven College, at least at first, and thus behaves in a cruel, vicious, brutal, standoffish sort of way. His temperament is highly mercurial, able to go from relatively calm and collected to cackling like a deranged lunatic almost at the drop of a hat. He’s snappy, snarly, and doesn’t like crowds. He’s also very power hungry…literally. Theodore is constantly seeking ways to increase his power levels as a mage, believing that only by gaining more power can he get what he truly wants. His Unique Magic - “Fly, My Pretties!” - allows him to summon a horde of shadowy creatures that resemble Flying Monkeys, which serve his will. Theodore is a flying ace: he’s INCREDIBLY skilled on a magic broomstick, and it’s a talent he’s extremely proud of. Once again, while he often seems quite unpleasant, Theodore does have his soft sides: for one thing, he has a massive sweet tooth, and eats perhaps too much candy and cookies for his own good…but that’s another story. There are some other OCs I have in mind for TW, but they haven’t been given workable artwork yet. Some of these characters - namely Theo and Maelstrom - haven’t even been featured in writing at all yet. Time will tell when those events occur.
