isagi yoichi is smiling at his phone again.
he’s pacing, too. up and down, back and forth— the whole nine yards. literally. on a hot summer’s day, instead of spending his break from practice cooling down or getting water, he chose to spend it ignoring his teammates and glued to his phone. he was so immersed in the little screen that he had yet to notice the rest of his friends watching him with raised brows from the benches.
“what’s up with him?” reo echoes everyone’s thoughts, flopping down onto the bench next to nagi.
“no idea. but he’s been basically drooling over his phone since our break,” chigiri replies. “we’re probably going to end up having to pry it out of his cold, dead hands.
a lapse in conversation follows isagi’s slight laugh as something happens on his phone screen— just what could he be laughing at?
“maybe he’s playing tetris,” bachira suggests. he is met by blank stares until nagi finally says his piece, “why would he be playing tetris?”
“oh, you’re one to talk—“
bachira is cut off by, again, the sound of laughter. everyone turns their gaze to see isagi, bashfully covering his mouth with his free hand while typing out a text reply. so he was texting someone, they deduce.
“who could he be texting? aren’t we, like, his only friends?” reo wonders out loud.
nagi’s hand rests on reo’s side as he glances over to the subject of the impromptu investigation again. “dunno. his mom?”
“doubt his mom is that funny.”
“maybe it’s his girlfriend,” bachira sings. eyes snap to him for the second time that day.
“he has a girlfriend?”
“isagi can pull?”
“before me?”
their chorus of replies, ranging from flabbergasted to bitter, draw the attention of the man of the hour, who finally, for the first time in a solid 10 minutes, glances up from his phone. “is.. something up?”
bachira laughs. everyone else stares. reo is the one who finally speaks:
“who are you texting there, buddy?”
isagi grimaces at the tone. it’s reminiscent of a dad who knows he’s caught you doing something wrong but is trying to get you to admit to it. he feels like he’s a little boy with a hand in the cookie jar when he replies meekly, “no one?”
chigiri smirks. that’s the only way to describe his expression, really; a smug little stupid smirk that sends sweat down isagi’s spine. “it’s rude to call your girlfriend that, yoichi.”
the world stills. blood roars in his ears. isagi is absolutely certain his face is burnt-tomato red, and he feels overwhelmingly warm with embarrassment. “uh..”
and then: an incoming call. a familiar, separate ringtone sounds as your name lights up his phone.
a set of devilish, devious grins spread across his present teammate’s faces.
“you’re not going to ignore that, right?” bachira smiles.
isagi swallows.
isagi hits the green button.
and he’s met by silence. only a slight staticky feedback on the other end, and some garbled noise that might be faraway conversation. no girlfriend, no voice.
the teammates exchange a glance. chigiri speaks, “bachira, if you were messing and that really is his mom—“
he’s silenced by a voice. one he’s never heard.
“yoichi? you there?”
you sound crunchy on the other end of the call, but unmistakably, undoubtedly real.
“hey, hi! i’m here.” and what else is the way isagi absolutely lights up when he hears your voice. like a new wave of energy has just consumed him, like he was asleep and got hit by a bucket of ice cold water.
isagi gives his friends a shit-eating grin before waving and walking away, still talking to you on the phone, instantly reentering his own little world. reo looks ay nagi. nagi looks at chigiri. chigiri looks at bachira. bachira looks at reo.
“at least he wasn’t playing tetris,” reo finally says.
nagi nods solemnly. chigiri shrugs. bachira glares at the purple-haired boy: “what’s wrong with tetris?”

Bllk boys when you compliment them! ⍣ೋ
Tumblr media
Bachira, Chigiri, Karasu
Compliment war
You could be enjoying a lazy day in the couch, sitting in a cafe or walking around town, but every moment felt like the perfect moment to remind your boyfriend how amazing he is.
He might act startled or flustered for half a second, but don't let it fool you. Prepare yourself to get complimented back inmediatly after. Being as stubborn as you are, you don't back down and both of you start throwing compliments at the other, earning some successful blushes in the meantime.
Too bad for you, your boyfriend has every aspect he loves of you ready to fire and believe me, he loves a lot of you. In the end, you're left speechless as he just keeps going on and on with no intention to stop. The moment you barely hesitate, he excitedly takes it as a win and laughs. When you pout slightly, he gently holds your chin with one hand and angles your head to kiss your cheek softly.
"Maybe next time, love. But I'm a mighty opponent"
Shidou, Kaiser, Reo, Ness
Yeah? tell me more
You're trapped in the arms of your lover on the couch, and just had the great idea of letting a comment on his looks or how much you love his hugs leave your lips. You can tell he's grinning widely even if you're not looking at him. The little shit is already smirking cockily as he leans closer.
"Yeah? Tell me more"
You smile at this and decide to feed his ego a little more. His hands hold you tighter with each sentence. When he still ask for more, you roll your eyes in false annoyance and nuzzle your mouth in his chest so your next words come out muffled and he inevitably doesn't hear them.
"Hey, not fair! Come here!"
He lifts your face and he can see you with a devious smile that he thought was hot as fuck. He starts covering you in quick kisses. You laugh and try to squeeze away from your grasp, but his strong hold refrains you to do so. Only if you knew how much your nice words affected him in a good way.
Kunigami (before wild card), Isagi, Nanase
Bashful, cute mess
The moment those words leave your lips, he's already got a cute blush across his cheeks. He frowns and clings to you despite your height difference, nuzzling his face on your skin to hide the embarrassment. You notice and, being the nice girlfriend you are, decide to tease him about it.
Your comments only make him blush harder. He refrains from speaking up, knowing he'll stutter. You feel his rapid heartbeat against you and start to feel somewhat bad for him; therefore, you sweetly caress his hair. His hold on you tightens as he clearly relaxes under your touch.
"Honey, I can't breathe-"
You let out a strangled breath before your boyfriend loosens up a little. He lifts his now smiling face and kisses you gently. His soft lips make you melt in his arms at the caring affection. He pulls back just enough to look in your shining eyes and whisper.
"I love you so much"
Sae, Rin, Nagi, Kurona
Actions speak louder than words
You two are sitting up on the bed. He has you on his lap and his arms lazily hugging your waist. You lean your head on his chest and listen to his rhythmic heartbeat. You're just silently enjoying each other's touch and company, deciding that today you'll comfortably spend some quality time together.
"You're the best boyfriend I could ask for."
Surprised at your way to break the silence, the boy is left speechless and doesn't know what to say. His heart starts to beat faster and love fills his every being. His hands now travel further around your body as he keeps you close in a protective embrace. He leaves a whisper of a kiss in your forehead and nuzzles the top of your head.
He doesn't have to say anything for you to know that your words had the expected effect on him. Just know that he's gonna pay it back to you tenfold with the best cuddles in the world.

Betrothed - Chapter 4
Tumblr media
Summary: “Marry me Isagi.” Reo’s calm and collected voice snapped out Isagi’s any wandering thoughts and he faced him harshly.
The impact was much like a ball landed unexpectedly on an enemy’s territory out in the field.
“What the hell are you talking about?” He bit out, demanding answers from him.
Reo remained unperturbed and unruffled by his outburst which made Isagi more irritated with him.
“It’s just like what I said Isagi. Marry me. Or do you have any other options in mind? For sure, your analytical mind can catch up with me, right? Or do I need to spell it out for you?” Reo replied with an arched brow but his mauve orbs held a glint of amusement at the other’s expressions, taking in delight of the multitude of expressions that flitted across the male’s face in just a few seconds.
- Or a Reosagi marriage of convenience AU that no one asked for but I still deliver: Isagi loses on the match and his career is on the line until Reo swoops in with an offer that could still save him and his future.
Characters: Isagi Y. & Reo M.
Link for the 3rd chapter:
His left brow arched as Reo turned around to see Isagi standing there like a statue with a conflicted expression on his face.
“What?” Reo asked in askance.
“There’s only one bed.” Isagi finally faced him.
“And?” Reo was exhausted to be patient this time around.
“What do you mean and?” Isagi almost burst out before he took a deep breath and calmed himself down. “What will be our sleeping arrangement Reo? It wasn’t discussed in the contract but having one bed in this room is a glaring problem for us since we’re not exactly the real deal here.” He crossed his arms over his chest.
“That’s your issue?” Reo shot back before he sighed and went to sit on the bed facing him after putting the towel back on the rack. “If we want to make ourselves be more believable then we need to sleep in one room like a normal, married couple. If you noticed, we’re not the only ones who’re living in this mansion y’know? There are maids, butler, cooks, gardeners, and drivers here. So, if we don’t want to be the subject of their gossip then we will need to act the part successfully.”
“I know that.” Isagi retorted. “But it’s just the two of us here now in the room with no prying eyes. How are we even going to sleep in the bed? One of us will have to take the floor and I’m not the one doing it.” He pointed out.
Reo’s eyes shot up. “Why would be anyone of us sleep on the floor when we can both sleep in here? It looks huge enough to accommodate both of us.” He scoffed lightly before his eyes gleamed and a smirk graced his features which Isagi didn’t like one bit. “Are you throwing a tantrum now because you’re scared sleeping beside me hmm?”
“What? Excuse-fucking-me?” Isagi glared at him and if looks can kill Reo would be lying on a heap right now.
Alas, it only made Reo’s smirk turned devious and wider.
“You got cold feet already from this? Fortunately for you Isagi-kun, you’re not my type so rest assured that your chastity is safe from my hands.” He replied mockingly.
“Why you bas—.” Isagi fumed before he stopped midway and clenched his fists to the side, turning away from Reo’s sardonic smile and expression on his face. He didn’t want to make the other satisfied that he got under his skin.
“As if I’d want you.” Isagi jeered at him as he grabbed a towel from the rack and went inside the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind him.
Reo watched the bathroom door shut with a loud sound before he took a deep breath and lie down on the other side of the bed, covering the half of his body with a blanket.
He didn’t mean to provoke the other but sometimes it’s hard not to when Isagi was one of his least favorite people he met in his lifetime.
Although Isagi had possessed a nice, amiable personality, Reo couldn’t deny that the other had a cocky, arrogant side of him as well that’s unleashed when he’s on the soccer field or when being challenged.
And Reo couldn’t help himself but to take up on that challenge and clashed against him because he wanted to put him on his rightful place.
He stared up at the ceiling, his mind wandering idly now that he was alone in his thoughts and there were no distractions surrounding him.
Although the celebration at the reception hall earlier on the hotel went on smoothly despite the lavishness and extravagance, Reo couldn’t help but think that there were still too many guests in their wedding and half of these people were mostly his parents’ business associates and acquaintances from their own social stratum.
Even though Reo was trained and equipped to converse and be a good host to these kinds of people, he found himself still bone-weary after all of it.
Pretending to listen and be affable to the mundane topics.
Pretending to be attentive and interested to whatever bullshit that were flying out of their mouths.
Pretending to spout some random tidbits about stocks and business economy.
Pretending to give a fuck to all of it.
Sometimes, Reo just wanted to run away and pick up the ball and play with—
Reo’s mind came into a screeching halt.
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
No. He couldn’t dwell on the past now. He needed to focus in the present and the moment.
He needed to align himself with his current goals if he wanted to be successful.
He couldn’t let himself be swayed by useless wishful thinking and the damn what ifs situation.
But as he willed his mind to think of something else, his thoughts drifted away to the wedding church earlier.
To Isagi and their wedding vows.
And to their obligatory wedding kiss in front of the crowd.
A slow, scintillating sensation crept up on him as he could still feel the warm breath and soft lips of Isagi melding against his own.
The way that the other seemed surprised yet became pliant on their embrace did wonders on his brain and body and he couldn’t help but to wonder if Isagi will remain compliant under him or will his feistiness continue to extend in the bedroom and—
Reo’s mind came into a screeching halt before shaking his head off and quickly closed his eyes.
Damn. What the fuck was that?
He didn’t know if he should be disturbed or disgusted with himself on the way his thoughts were swerving at.
Didn’t he just said directly to Isagi’s face that he wasn’t his type in the first place?
It must be the exhaustion and the effects of alcohol clouding his mind and judgment.
He needed to get some goddamn sleep and rest.
If Isagi Yoichi still had problems with their current sleeping arrangement then he won’t stop him from sleeping somewhere else.
It’s not his problem to cater to his whims and issues anyway.
Reo was already asleep soundly on the other side of the bed when Isagi emerged from his bath out of the bathroom.
He took a deep breath and went through his things to find his own sleepwear and dressed himself.
Isagi did it very slowly as his mind raced on how he would sleep on the bed.
‘Stop overthinking you idiot!’ His mind screamed at him internally.
With a resigned sigh escaping his lips, Isagi finally went to bed and lied down to the other side of it.
He tried to stop his thoughts from spiraling further before he gingerly took his own blanket and tucked himself away.
He slowly scooted away but stopped midway as he was about to fall from the bed. He tried in vain to stop himself but he could feel his heart thundering wildly inside his chest.
Reo was already asleep beside him and Isagi tried to relax and stopped his mind from overthinking things before he closed his eyes and willed himself to sleep.
A few minutes passed and he remained frozen in his own spot before he heard an audible yet resigned sigh from the other side of the bed.
Isagi peeked one eye and found out that Reo had stood up from the other side of the bed and looked at him in half mockery and exasperation.
Isagi was tempted to really punch the living daylights out of him if he didn’t possess a good amount of patience in dealing with people like him.
“What?” Isagi asked irascibly as he finally opened his eyes.
“I remember that I must make some calls. And you may stop scooting away from me on the bed. Don’t worry I won’t jump on you when you’re asleep. Sweet dreams Isagi-kun.” Reo shot back with a sardonic smile on his face and went out of the room.
Isagi couldn’t help but to throw the pillow on his direction but the other was already out of the room and the pillow hit the closed door unceremoniously.
Isagi was left there fuming, glaring holes at the doorway.
Looks like he was wrong in his initial assumption that it’s going to be easy married to someone like Reo even if it’s a charade in the first place.
Isagi was hoping that he wouldn’t develop aneurysm because of that bastard.
The meager sunlight came filtering in through the dark curtains of the room and slowly crept towards the bed where Isagi was slumbering in.
His brows furrowed before the sliver of consciousness crawled into Isagi’s mind and he opened his eyes blearily to stare at the surroundings around him.
Fuck.
He felt like his head was splitting open.
He slept late last night as he kept staring, tossing, and turning around on the bed until he finally slept at around 2am in the morning.
It must be because he wasn’t used in sleeping at a lavish mansion like this.
Yeah. That must be it. Isagi refused to entertain another line of thought that would probably cause havoc in his system once again. It’s too early to overthink and spend his time thinking on useless thoughts anyway.
He glanced at the bedside clock and found out that it was already 9am so he finally got up from the bed and made his way towards the bathroom where he quickly cleaned himself up and changed into his usual clothes before leaving the room.
However, he stopped walking midway when he belatedly realized that he was alone in their bedroom earlier and Reo didn’t return when he left last night.
Or maybe he did return and he didn’t notice his presence because he was deeply asleep?
But Isagi quickly shelved out the last thought away as he was almost awake for several hours last night and he would notice if the other went back to their shared bedroom or not.
He took a deep breath and shook his head faintly. So, what if Reo didn’t return to their bedroom last night? It’s not like it matters to him. They’re just married on paper anyway and they’re just putting on a show in front of other people for a limited amount of time until they get a divorce once their contract was over.
He shouldn’t give a shit about these kinds of things anyway.
Reo was probably doing more important things anyway.
With that thought in mind, Isagi resumed walking towards the dining hall which was a bit difficult to navigate into because of how huge the place was.
Thankfully, one of the maids saw him walking around and guided him through to reach the dining hall successfully wherein he saw Reo sitting on one of the available chairs at the dining table looking pristine and sophisticated as always.
The man was always stylish and cultivated in his looks and the way he presented himself as that Isagi sometimes had to look at himself in making sure he didn’t look like drab and not his official partner in front of the others.
“Good morning. Finally awake I see.” Reo greeted him amiably as he looked up from his smartphone to smile at him serenely.
Nevertheless, his pomegranate orbs glittered in silent provocation, as if daring him to say or do something.
Isagi won’t fall for it.
“Good morning too. You should’ve wake me up baby so we could have breakfast together earlier.” Isagi took a seat beside him and shot him a faux sweet smile on his face as he took a French bread and began eating it.
“I wanted to darling but seeing how exhausted you are last night; I didn’t have the heart to wake you up and let you rest as you’ve taken the brunt of our activities.” Reo smiled innocently and took a sip a of his coffee carefully.
Isagi wanted to gag but tried to maintain his dignified stance and calm smile on his lips until he saw a maid from the corner of his eyes blushing slightly and excused herself to bring the scones from the kitchen and left hastily.
It made Isagi’s brows spoke in volumes and sighed inwardly.
“Next time I want the breakfast delivered in the bedroom…” He mumbled mostly to himself as he focused on eating his breakfast and pointedly ignored Reo who was sitting beside him.
There’s no audience to entertain now so he didn’t have to pretend to act all lovey-dovey to this bastard anyway.
Isagi just wanted to spend his morning breakfast in peace and tranquil and maybe he might’ve achieved that considering all was quiet and pleasant for the next few minutes inside the dining hall with him eating heartily on his breakfast and Reo back to checking on his smartphone.
Maybe it’s gonna be a great day ahead.
Or not.
Isagi spoke too soon as his eyes flitted on the plane tickets placed by Reo in front of him on the table.
“What’s this?” Isagi asked after swallowing down the bread.
“Tickets to Hawaii.” Reo replied simply.
Isagi arched a brow. “Yeah, I can see that. But why do I have this?”
“It’s a ticket for our honeymoon.”
Isagi’s eyes almost bulged at the words left from other’s lips.
‘What?!’
