DESCENDANTS: The Rise of Red! (or the REAL hidden story in the movie + what’s gonna happen in the sequel THEORY!)

So we ALL watched the movie right? We ALL thought the plot sucked and the movie ended abruptly with a underwhelming climax?

WELL HERES WHY WERE WRONG!

So I did some really deep thinking, and I figured, these writers can’t be THAT stupid? The director can’t be THAT idiotic, lame, and boring? That would just embarrass Disney, not to mention all the well respected actors that are in this!

So I thought hard. I thought hard and I thought long. Like hella long. And I tallied up all the plot inconsistencies, all the weird explanations, all the very specific lines in songs, and I did it. I fixed descendants rise of red! I FIGURED IT OUT!

So!! Here it is! What TRULY happened that crowncoming night! And what going back in time actually did!

(I intentionally put a keep reading so if anyone wanted to avoid spoilers they can)

So! Now that we’re under the keep reading. Anything spoilerly can be said!

So first things first. The biggest theory everyone is saying.

ELLA DID IN FACT POISON BRIDGET!

Yes! I said it! We all thought the movie was leading to this! So it was underwhelming when it was revealed it was Uliana and her crew were the origins behind the prank.

OR WERE THEY?

We all saw that once they opened the book; they were frozen. Because they were ‘bad’ and Merlin’s security system was set into place.

And many of you came up with the giant plot hole that this would have happened REGARDLESS of whether Red and Chloe interfered.

AND YOUR RIGHT!

This sole reason, is why the group COULDNT have done it! Not only were they frozen, but they couldn’t read the recipe, and were properly sent to detention, ergo exonerating them from being at the dance! Meaning their was literally no way they could have been behind the prank!

So with them being withheld from the dance, who could it be? Who was the one person who was originally at the dance, but now no longer could be? What was the one actual change that Red and Chloe set off?

ELLA. AND THE VASE!

We all see that when the two go into Ella’s house, Chloe knocks over a Vase. Breaking it. Lady Tremaine GROUNDS Ella! Meaning that she COULD NOT go to the dance!

This DIDNT happen originally! Meaning Ella DID go to the dance in the original timeline! Which is proven when Cinderella (I’m calling Adult Ella, Cinderella) talks to The Red Queen (I’m calling Adult Bridget The Red Queen) about how the prank being pulled was wrong. She had first handed knowledge of the prank. AND she told Chloe she fell in love with Charming at the dance.

But! Since Ella is the only difference in the two timelines in regarding to the dance, this is PROOF that she was the one who actually pranked Bridget, NOT Uliana and her crew!

So here’s what I think happened!

Ella, who saw Bridget being bullied about the cupcakes, and saw Uliana take all the cupcakes. And promptly being threatened by Uliana. Decided to bake Bridget something to cheer her up. However Bridget literally has all of the cookbooks in auradon. As shown. So she snoops around and finds Merlin’s cookbook! (Because it’s also shown she’s okay with breaking the rules if it’s for a good cause. From her get our hands dirty song!) and double and, the book WOULD open for her because she is a good person. AND she was doing it for a good reason!

she flips through the book and finds some simple blase recipe that cheers Bridget up. Maybe gives her cool hair (Red hair??). Something simple but sweet.

However. While doing this, she happens to see the Monster food recipe. She doesn’t look at it for long of course. Just enough to remember it’s a thing.

BACK TO BRIDGET!

Now! I swear to whatever’s out there that the person who played Chloe said there was a queer character in Dedcendants 4. I can’t find it now but it was some tumblr or insta post. I know cause I immediately told my friend afterwards.

Anywho. I think Bridget is the queer character! We see in the movie her only friend was Ella. Not only that but she YEARNS for someone to care about enough to ask her out (in a romantic way like charming just tried to do for Ella) Ella, who again. Is Bridget’s only friend. And ergo, shows her love no one else does, IMMEDIATELY asks her to go to the dance with her! (Might have said as friends in the other timeline too. Who knows)

But! This only makes Bridget’s crush on Ella even BIGGER. And she falls in love with her! She probably thinks they might have a chance!

This is also somewhat proven by The Red Queens song ‘Love Ain’t It’

The Red Queen : I saw through her. Cinderella and I were classmates in a way.

(Notice how she uses Ella’s mocking name after she has time to recover from the interaction. She said ELLA originally when she caught her off guard. Also. The line. I SAW THROUGH HER. It’s a double edged sword. Saw through her fronts. Saw the hurting girl inside. Saw through her LIES saw the mean girl behind)

Proven by the next lines

The red Queen : I spent way to much time in this place

So I had to escape

the people might smile

but their two faced, too fake.

Girl was relentlessly bullied and betrayed by someone she loved

And Ella Knows it.

Cinderella : Some people act mean at first, because their too afraid to feel

[the reverse is also true]

Cinderella : Look hon. Back in high school, a mean prank was played

And ever since that fateful day

She was never the same, it’s quite a shame.

So the Red Queen sings a whole song about how Love isn’t it. And we ALL KNOW that her only connection to love as a kid was through ELLA. meaning Bridget HAD A CRUSH on Ella. Was IN LOVE. With Ella.

So. How did Crowncoming originally happen you ask?

Here’s my theory

Ella and Bridget go to the dance. They are happy! They have fun. Bridget falls further in love with Ella. Meanwhile. Ella falls in love with Charming!

Her and Charming hit it off. And Ella starts to feel loved and appreciated for the first time in her life.

Then, Bridget performs her ‘Shuffle of Love’ dance. All the attention is on her! Even Charmings.

Ella feels robbed. She feels jealous. She feels angry that her friend is stealing the one good moment she is finally having to herself.

And so she briefly remembers the spell. And in a moment of error, she either A. Remembers the recipe already and makes the recipe. Or B. Re-Sneaks back into the office to see it. However I’m going with A because the book wouldn’t have opened again for Ella because of her bad intentions.

Whichever way. Bridget eats the baked treat. (I think it was a cupcake. Ella could have lied and said it was from the earlier batch)

And then. IT HAPPENS! Bridget is turned into an ugly terrifying monster. Everyone LAUGHS at her. Everyone makes fun of her

And Bridget, who is confused, understands only ONE person could have done this to her. She looks at someone she was in love with. And just sees Ella and Charming laughing. Laughing at her. Bonding over laughing at HER.

Bridget runs off. In tears. Broken inside. With an equally broken heart.

Maybe if Ella had immediately realized her error and run after her she would have turned out differently. But no. It is proven that Ella stayed at the dance and stayed with Charming. They wouldn’t have had the chance to fall in love if she left.

So Bridget. Spends the rest of the night terrified. Looking like a monster. And being laughed and screamed and made fun of everywhere she goes. And not only that. But her ONLY FRIEND. Her CRUSH. Someone she TRUSTED did this to her

Now THIS! THIS is something can break a person. This is something that can change their views on the world. On humanity itself. She was a kind girl. Was kind to everyone no matter how meanly they treated her. But through it all, Ella was her rock. Her friend. Her secret love. Someone who was good and kind through it all.

But she betrayed her. Tbe one nice person betrayed her. Showing that being nice doesn’t do it. Being nice does not mean good things happen. Being nice doesn’t is worthless if this is what it gets you. Everyone is two faced. And the only thing that’s real. The only thing she CAN feel. Is hurt. And pain. And fear. And so that’s what she swears to become. That’s what she swears to do. Be mean and cruel and heartless so she never has to feel all this pain ever again. So her eventual DAUGHTER never has to feel this again. It’s better to be alone and feared. Then alone and broken.

Ella probably realized the error of her ways the next day. But as she said. It was too late. Bridget was never the same.

This Explains why they had so many odd interactions. The raw feral burning chemistry between them. All the odd phrase. Why The Red Queen would be okay sending her BEST FRIEND to death. Why she would be okay killing her. And taking over auradon. To Her? Cinderella is the one who made her this way.

but also part of her still remembers. Still cares. It’s why she gave her once chance to kneel to her. (And as we’ve noted in the books and movies. She doesn’t give ANYONE else a second chance. She punishes I’m immediately and harshly)

And so! With all of this happening. Theirs gonna be some catylist in recent times. The Red Queen might be nice now. But something will have changed. Ella never went to the dance. (She clearly fell in love with charming somewhere else cause otherwise Chloe would have disappeared) but something happened when she wasn’t at the dance. Something that caused another problem. And THATS gonna be the sequel to this movie. Descendants : Rise of Red part two.

(as we’ve seen the official script for the movie is literally called Descendants : Rise of Red part one. MEANING they wrote it with the purpose of being part one to either a sequel or a threequal)

And THAT! Ladies and Gentleman, is what I think the REAL plot behind Descendants : Rise of Red is! A movie that is not idiotically not thought out at all, but really something so secretly genuis is blows your mind!

i watched the rise of red :D

i kinda feel like it was rushed because it all got solved like in a span of 10 minutes- but it was still rlly good. After watching TheOnlyCB3 (Charles Brockman) I cringed at some things but i liked it still 😭😭

I totally haven’t been in love with Uma since she was first introduced so I totally won’t draw her. totally! I just love China McClain sm🫶🫶

and Cinderella’s actor was the same as the 1997 Cinderella movie and it made me so happy😭

also I’m feeling a little better because my sister will be coming back from college on most weekends. I won’t admit it but I was in a bad place without her around. If you lived with me you’d see the difference, throughout the week i kept to myself quietly but the moment i saw her we were screaming and bouncing off the walls😭

I get that it’s a part of life but it still.. really hurts. Maybe it’s the “stubborn taurus” in me, but, i hate change. Especially now, everything is changing but I’ll get better at it sooner or later. Summary: when the win big shindig rolls around, Luke try’s to ask out his sisters best friend, while failing miserably. But he’s successfully able to get her to go with him.

Elijah time!

This was originally the first chapter for my Luke Ross story on Wattpad ‘ bestfriends brother’ but I decided I wanted to start the fic off on earlier seasons.

Zuria May was excited, the win big shindig was happing this week, and the girl was helping Emma Ross, the sister of her best friend, zuri Ross,  plan the dance, which she wasn't actually helping plan, she was just in charge with music, and luckily, the girl just so happened to be apart of a band. Everyone around school was talking about who they were going to ask to be their dates, and Ria was just hoping she'd be able to have a conversation with the boy she wanted to go with, and luckily, said boy had left a note in her locker.

"So, Luke, what did you wanna tell me?" Zuria asked as she walked into a hallway that was filled with confetti.

"Uh..." Luke stuttered, looking at the girl before turning towards the lockers, letting a terrified noise.

"Go away, Zuria?" Ria read aloud, turning towards Luke. "Is this some kind of practical joke?" She scoffed before getting a face full of confetti.

"Fixed it..." Ravi laughed nervously.

"You're a total jerk." Ria glared at her best friends brother, rolling her eyes as she walked away.

Another letter from Luke saying to meet him outside, Zuria wasn't going to go, but she decided she'd give him another chance.

"Luke, it you have something to say, please, make it quick." Zuria spoke quickly, "I'm supposed to be at band practice with the guys."

"Uh, yeah." Luke stuttered as he made his way towards her, grabbing her arm and manoeuvring her to a certain spot. "Just stand right here." The boy stared at her side profile, a smile on his face. Zuria furrowed her brows, turning to Luke with a confused face. "Uh...okay, I just have to make a quick call." He seemed nervous, which Zuria found weird. She's known Luke for quite some time, he was never nervous. "Don't move, okay?" Luke quickly walked to the side, and that's when the sprinklers went off.

"Oh my god!" Zuria screamed, her white off shoulder butterfly top and black and white jeans were getting soaked, she was supposed to go to band practice in this outfit. "I can't believe I fell for another one of your stupid practical jokes!" She cried out, covering face, trying to stop the water going to her face.

"Uh, no, wait!" Luke tried to make his way over to her, only for the girl to trip backwards and hit her head against the ground.

"Ow, My head!" Zuria cried, sitting up and looking at Luke. "Why do you hate me?"

"Zuria, I swear, I wanted you standing there for something else!" Luke tried to explain, going over to help her up, just as the marching band came by. The boy was quick to move her out of the way before she got trampled.

"Merciful heavens, make it stop." Ravi spoke, taking a sip from his drink.

"Could this get any worse?!" Luke groaned, his hand still keeping Zuria stable on her feet.

"Who is zaria?" Ravi sounded out, squinting at the sky, making Luke groan again. Zuria wasn't paying attention, she was too busy trying to keep herself awake.

"I think I have a concussion." The girl cried, placing her hand on her head, stumbling away from the boys and to the nurse.

Zuria was making her way to the gym, wearing her rainbow tie dye crop top over her black singlet, some black jeans, some tennis shoes and her hair was down, braided at the top with some beads. She was turning into the hallway, were rose petals had been laid out, and Luke was on his knee, a huge bouquet of flowers, holding one in his hand.

"Luke?" Zuria questioned, staring down at the boy.

"Ria." He smiled, staring up at her.

"I can't believe this." She chuckled, "is this all for me?" She wondered, not wanting to get the wrong idea.

"Uh.." he stuttered, glancing around before holding out the bouquet, with a sweet smile. "Yes, It is."

"This is so sweet." She smiled softly, "I thought you hated me." She laughed nervously. "Wait-" her eyes widened before she started looking around frantically. "The marching band isn't hiding anywhere, is it?"

"Zuria, I'm really sorry about all that." Luke stated clearly, placing his hand on her arm. "It just, you know, you're the coolest girl I know, and wonderful to, and I didn't think you'd go to the dance with me unless I asked in a big way." He explained, "plus, zuri said she'd skin me alive if I didn't make the proposal good enough."

"Well, I'd say this is pretty big." Ria smiled softly. "And definitely good enough," she chuckled, "although, I heard someone named zaria got asked by a skywriter." She smiled, impressed.

"So, uhh..." he stuttered, before holding out a rose to her. "Will you go to the dance with me?" He asked nervously.

"I'd love to." Ria smiled, taking the flower and Luke's hand into hers.

"And you know, you didn't have to go through all this trouble." Ria stated, smiling at him. "You could've just asked me through a note, I would've even found it sweet if you did it through zuri." She laughed.

"Trust me, when prom rolls around, I'm just sending you a paper airplane." The two laughed, making their way to the dance hand in hand.

"You look really pretty." Luke smiled as the two slowed danced, Zuria laughed, spinning the boy under her arm.

"Thank you, Emma tried to force me into a dress," the girl laughed, "but I finally convinced her to let me wear this because it's more easier for me to preform in." Zuria spoke as Luke manoeuvre her under his arm now.

"Preform?"

"The band and I are performing tonight," she smiled. "We're on after throwing stuff at the Viking and after the Vamps."

"Seriously?" Luke grinned, now having his arms around her waist as the two slowly swayed. "You're going to do great." He stated, despite not having heard her or the band before.

"Okay, party people," Emma spoke into the microphone, "now, it's time to destroy the Viking!" She exclaimed as Bertram made his way on the stage, opera singing the words 'I am a Viking.' Which made the students not even hesitate with their throwing and booing. Soon enough, Bertram exited the stage after having cake thrown at him.

"Listen up, everyone." Emma spoke, "I have a huge surprise for you." She stated. "Thanks to my incredibly hard work and a lost tour bus driver, I give you, The vamps!" The crowd cheered as the band began to play. Luke and Zuria were dancing like they were the only people in the room, jumping up and down with each other. Soon enough, they were done, and it was time for sunset curve.

"And now, for our own amazing little band, welcome Zuria, Aamina, charlotte and Sirius, Sunset curve!!" Emma exclaimed, the four students making their way on stage.

Zuria began to play the piano, while the others got ready.

"Sometimes I think I'm falling down, I wanna cry, I'm calling out, for one more try, to feel alive." She sang, staring out at Luke in the crowd. "And when I feel lost and alone, I know that I can make it home, fight through the dark." She gained more confidence. "And fine the spark! Life is a risk, but I will take it, close my eyes and jump, together I think that we can make it." She smiled. "Come on, let's Run! And rise-!" The band joined in. "Through the night, you and I!" Ria raised from the piano, taking the microphone with her. "We will fight to shine together, bright for ever!" She pointed into the crowd. "And rise through the night! You and I! We will fight to shine together, bright forever!" Ria grinned as the crowd were cheering.

"Uh, Is this really happening?" She asked Sirius in disbelief.

"Just go with it!" He grinned, taking a step forward. "In times that i doubted myself, I felt like I needed some help, stuck in my head," Sirius grinned as he watched Zuria and Mina jam out together, "with nothing left!" He laughed, "I feel something around me now, so unclear, lifting me out! I found the ground! I'm marching on!"

"Life is a risk, but we will take it!" Mina joined it, both her and Sirius singing into the same Mike as she played bass and he guitar. "Close my eyes and jump! Together I think we can make it, come on, let's run!!"

"And rise! Through the night! You and I! We will fight to shine together!" Everyone joined in, including Lottie who was on drums. "Bright forever!! And rise, through the night! You and I! We will fight! To shine together! Bright forever!"

"In times that I doubted myself. I felt like I needed some help, stuck in my head, with nothing left!!"

"And when I feel, lost and alone, I know that i will make it home, fight through the dark, and find the spark!"

Zuria laughed as she caught Aamina wink at charlotte.

"And rise! Through the night! You and I! We will fight forever, to shine together!! bright forever!! And rise through the night! You and I! We will fight! To shine together! Bright forever!!"

And with that, the song was finished, and the gym erupted in screams and cheers.

"Thank you, sunset curve!!" Emma cheered, hugging the band as they exited the stage, and The Vamps were back on. Zuria made her way back to Luke, and the two began to dance again, Zuria grabbing his hands and Luke spinning and dipping her.

The two had the time of their lives, it had been the first time the two actually had a proper talk, and the talking continued as Luke walked her home.

"You were absolutely amazing, I didn't know you could sing like that!" Luke grinned, spinning the girl around as he walked with her down the road.

"Thank you, i haven't preformed in front of a crowd before," she laughed, squealing as Luke lifted her off her feet as they arrived at her house. "I had an amazing time, Luke." She smiled, still holding the boys hand.

"I did to, thank you for an amazing night." He smiled, helping her up the stairs. "I really like you, Zuria." He stated, staring into her eyes.

"And I really like you, Luke."

"So...would you, possibly, think about being my girlfriend?" Luke nervously stumbled over his words, holding her hands nervously.

"Absolutely." She grinned, kissing the boys cheek.

"Hehe-" Luke giggled, reaching up and holding his cheek. "I'm never washing this face again."

So this will be tough to answer considering that carlos's actor is sadly no longer with us and let his memories live on

I was wondering if you ever had to do a story of carlos last few days with jane and his friends how would you do it

Like I love how they payed tribute to him in the royal wedding but I was surprised we never really got to see Jane sadness or her missing carlos

I guess it depends? Whether he saw his death coming or whether it’s as unexpected as the news of Cameron’s death was. If we go with the former, I’d put more focus on how everyone tries to cope with knowing someone is about to die. Specifically the underlying denial of everyone involved. Mostly I’d focus on Carlos trying to make the most of his last days and spending as much time with his loved ones as possible, tying up loose ends and crossing as many things off his bucket list as possible until his time runs out. Then there’s everyone around him coping, The denial, the pain of the truth constantly being thrown in your face, the powerlessness and the constant wondering what you could have done to prevent this. The trying to get everything out of the last few days because you don’t wanna live with the regrets of wasting time. Your deepest fear being that you’ll spend the rest of your life knowing you could have done more, and now it’s too late.

Then, finally, when it’s all over, I’d probably write about the inevitable ending to the story. Those who are left to pick up the pieces trying to stop that constant, niggling voice in the back of their head telling them it wasn’t enough. They weren’t enough. They could have done this that or the other and things might be different. They could’ve stopped it or at least slowed it down. The slow process of realizing that no amount of blaming yourself, justifiably or not, will change the past. It’s done. Carlos is gone. It’s too late to do anything about it now and all anyone can do is learn to live with it.

If it’s unexpected, I’d probably focus entirely on his friends and family. Specifically the different ways people try to cope with grief. The different stages of coming to terms with the fact that Carlos is gone and what forms they take in different people. The extremely emotional and the complete shutdown, the constantly doing something just to avoid thinking about it and the inability to do anything at all. The bottling everything up and the learning to let go. Grief is a slow process and it never really ends. It doesn’t leave, it just dulls to background noise. No matter how far you get, there will always be some kind of pain attached to the memories.

This was honestly hard to write. Apologies but I’m about to hardcore overshare so skip if you don’t wanna read it. I’ve written exactly one published story dealing with grief (fanfic for The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes) and that’s for a reason. When I was grieving, I was also dealing with a severe depressive episode, so I had a complete shutdown. I didn’t feel anything. Nothing about the situation felt real to me. But I saw the reactions of people around me and both of the situations I described above are ones I’ve experienced.

Two times, I watched a grandparent slowly die of illness. Years were spent seeing their health slowly deteriorate and trying to come to grips with that reality. It didn’t make the end easier when it came. All it did was shatter the illusion that maybe some miracle would save them and they’d pull through. One of these times happened right after an unexpected death. Everyone thought she’d live longer, and then she was gone. One week of thinking she’d be okay, and then it was over. It happened so fast I didn’t even have time to comprehend what was happening. None of these situations were easier, they were just different. It’s the sudden impact of a train against your heart vs the creeping cold spreading through you with every day you watch someone’s condition get worse. It’s watching someone battle against an illness until they’re so drained they give up the fight vs watching someone slowly lose touch with reality until they don’t even know what’s real and what’s in their head vs not even being able to watch anything at all because they’re already gone and you didn’t even get to say goodbye.

It’s never easy. And maybe the worst part is that you’ll never know if you had a hand in this or not, nor will you ever find complete closure. There will always be something, some regret or “what if”, and it’s inescapable.

Carlos is probably the most emotionally vulnerable of the initial four villain kids. He is often the one who is helpful for the sake of being helpful, such as helping Doug remember all of the dwarves’ names, He is also the only one of the Villain kids who actually wanted to go to Auradon Prep, and didn’t just go to appease his mother. He is also the first one to stand up to his mother, saying that he was keeping a dog as a pet rather than use it as clothing.

Carlos is easily enthralled by his environment, similarly to his friend, Jay. When they first see candy, their first reaction is to fight over it. Not to mention, we see Carlos become easily distracted by his environment very often. He also reacts very quickly when he feels his life is in danger, for example, when a dog is chasing him, after being told dogs are evil.

This is such an odd movie! The juxtaposition of the Unseriousness of this movie with the active child abuse going on is WILD

The songwriting is really poor. Like who was the lyricist here and how little time did they have

Also Chloe is surprised about Cinderella's backstory but that's her whole thing, it's literally her whole thing. Like Red being surprised about how her mom was makes complete sense but Chloe is just an actual idiot??? Like there's naive goody two shoes and then there whatever this character writing is...

These songs are COMING OUT OF NOWHERE? There's no lead in, there's no emotional tie... I should not be surprised to hear a song in a musical

Ok nobody proofread the script. Nobody. This movie makes no sense. Red does not do "so much good." She does 1 bad thing under horrific pressure and several neutral things.

The choreography is good.

Not them teasing a spinoff sequel...guys, let it die.

I did love the shout out to Cameron Boyce. Rest in peace buddy. We all miss you.

Ok, Descendants fans, genuine question: Arent a majority of cast useless and could just be Ben and Harry with little to no change in the story? (I'm using them because that scene with Ben kidnapped on the boat and Harry fucking with him was peak dynamic. ) Like :

Mal : Leader of original VK group, sarcastic, and insecure,and acts as Isle figurehead; being the 'bad' and more negative to Ben's more positive and 'good'. Ben is ~16, and his parents are very closed-minded and see in blank and white. Ben being that young and having no one around him who shares his view of the world would (in my opinion make him relatively insecure). I don't think I really have to explain Harry fitting sarcastic. Harry could just as easily fit into being a figurehead to the Isle. I think he embodies the Isle a bit more because he has a much more free spirited personality and demonstrates a lot more how being on the Isle is "every man for himself"

Evie : Optimistic, friendly, smart business minded. Ben is, tying back in with the last statement, a very positive person. He will always see the good the good in everyone and everything and because of this he's a very friendly guy. The 'smart business mind' can totally also factor into running a kingdom. Considering every possibility and factoring what that would mean for you and your people.

Jay : Charming, Kleptomanic tendencies (it's a personality trait in the sims 4, I genuinely couldn't think of anything that wasn't already covered by 'charming') Harry has a scene where he flirts with 4 women in ~1 minute. He also has 'was in a situationship that ended horribly, and neither of them want to admit it ended or even happened' energy with everyone. He is like the definition of charming. I don't have to really explain Kleptomanic tendencies, but I think it also builds the 'knows what it takes to survive on the Isle' that I think would bring a lot more to the table than when Mal said that they should close the barrier for good and BEN (someone who has no reason to care about the Isle and only does because he genuinely wants to do the best thing for the people) was the one who advocates for the Isle. Harry would never turn his back on the Isle like that.

Carlos : quick-witted, and awkward has this played for laughs a couple times(I may be misinterpreting the situation because Dude being comic relief is not funny at all to me but I assume most things he says are supposed to be humorous) (Sidenote : Rest in peace Cameron Boyce.) This one isn't even really specific to Harry because basically all of the VK's and quick-witted and very good at thinking on their feet. (Growing up on the Isle will do that to a motherfucker) but I think Harry is probably the best at it. I mean, just take the exchange where he says that there's 20 minutes left to noon, and Ben corrects him. He doesn't get hostile he takes the situation and makes it into a joke and like it's part of him messing with Ben. Obviously the awkwardness is something that Ben possesses. The man is the human embodiment of a hurt puppy. If he's trying to be nice and friendly with someone and they are rude or ignore him, he just freezes. He's got nowhere to take the conversation, so he awkwardly laughs and walks away.

Uma : Pirate gang leader. I think that she and Mal have very similar personalities, and a lot of these points are going to be building on my talking points with Mal but I will bring up that Uma is a lot more stubborn and vengeful than Mal is/was. Harry and Ben aren't exactly that stubborn. What I would say is that if anything, Harry is more self-assured, and Ben just has very strong views of the world that he won't compromise on.

Gil : The most friendly dude, caring, little dumb sometimes, but he means well. Gil literally is just the Isle equivalent to Ben, in my opinion. Like they just share most of their traits.

So, how grossly did I oversimplify them? Are there more strong character moments in the book? What am I missing here?
