CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro is trying to accomplish something that seems impossible in the South American country: steer people away from WhatsApp and X.

Maduro’s announcement this week that he had ordered a 10-day block on access to X in Venezuela is the latest in a series of efforts by his government to try to suppress information sharing among people voicing doubts about his claim to victory in the July 28 presidential election.

It also reveals how every aspect of Venezuela’s government is subject to Maduro’s wants and needs, as he went from demanding his Cabinet to retweet his posts in May to ordering the nation’s telecommunications agency on Thursday to block access to X.

“X out for 10 days! Elon Musk out!” Maduro said Thursday as he announced his decision to temporarily ban the social network and accused its owner, tech billionaire Elon Musk, of using it to promote hatred after Venezuela’s disputed presidential election.

Maduro, who also accused the social network of being used by his opponents to create political unrest, gave the company 10 days to “present their documents,” but he gave no additional details.

The government’s centralized communications office on Friday did not immediately respond to a request from The Associated Press seeking a copy of the resolution Maduro said he signed to authorize the ban against X.

X’s press office did not immediately respond to an email from AP requesting comment.

Electoral authorities declared Maduro the winner of the highly anticipated election, but unlike previous presidential contests, they have yet to produce detailed voting tallies to back up their claim. Meanwhile, the opposition revealed it collected tally sheets from more than 80% of the 30,000 electronic voting machines nationwide showing he lost by a more than 2-to-1 margin.

The dispute drew thousands to the streets in protest to which the government responded with full force. Security forces have since rounded up more than 2,000 people for demonstrating against Maduro or questioning his victory. Venezuela-based human rights organization Provea recorded 24 deaths.

After the election, Musk used X to accuse the self-proclaimed socialist leader of a “great electoral fraud,” drawing Maduro’s rage and a challenge to a “fight.” That’s a reversal for Maduro, who, aware of the key role that social networks play in news consumption in Venezuela, told Cabinet members in May during a televised meeting to support him on social media.

“Who among you does not follow my accounts?” he said. “You are embarrassed to raise your hand, right? All of you? And why don’t you like me? Why don’t you like or retweet? Why? That doesn’t cost anything, it’s a second, boom!”

A month later, he promoted an Instagram post whose song’s chorus urged people to “Give Nicolás a like, give Nicolás a like,” with a caption including the hashtag #NicoLike.

Fran Monroy, a telecommunications expert in Venezuela, said Maduro’s decision to block X is an escalation of censorship that began several years ago.

“Venezuelan newscasts from the major television networks are not watched because they do not reflect the news reality of the country,” he said. “So, what is left? The emergence of YouTube channels that have been very powerful in terms of the dissemination of information, social networks and in some ways virtual messaging or private messaging apps.”

Earlier this week, Maduro went after Meta’s WhatsApp messaging app, publicly deleting it from his phone during his weekly TV show and urging supporters to switch to competitor Telegram.

WhatsApp plays an integral role in everyday life in Venezuela. Millions use it not only to chat among friends and family, but also to schedule beauty salon and doctor’s appointments, buy food, hail a cab, send and receive school homework, and hire and fire employees.

Even the ruling party’s vast network of neighborhood leaders depend on the app to distribute subsidized food, take attendance at pro-government events and coordinate voter-mobilizing efforts on election days, including on July 28.

And the country’s main opposition used it to communicate with campaign volunteers, local organizers and others, who contributed to the bloc’s herculean task of securing the tally sheets from polling sites.

“Maduro has pivoted hard from trying to purchase support and mobilize his base through propaganda ... to recognizing neither of these strategies will work,” said Will Freeman, a fellow on Latin American studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. “As he leans hard on repression to remain in power, he has an incentive to limit communications so Venezuelans and the world see as little of what will unfold as possible.”

It remained unclear Friday how the government is carrying out the ban on X. Some users in the capital, Caracas, could still access and refresh the application on their phones without using a virtual private network.

Horacio Melendez, however, was among those who could no longer update the posts on the application. Sitting outside a church before going to work, he said he has never posted anti-government messages on his account, which he uses mostly to read what others share. He expressed skepticism over the reasons for the ban.

“That’s where the news is,” Melendez said. “There is a lot of news shared among people, among citizens, about the things that are happening. I imagine that has something to do with the ban as well; it’s not just because of Mr. Elon.”

well the majority of the fandom had thought we’d see this in the mv. and then we didn’t 🤠

Joel winning a tattoo contest: about a year (and more?) ago, an influencer on instagram was running a contest on her stories. the contest had to do with heavily tattooed guys of her choice and her followers had to vote for who they preferred. Joel made it to the last two and he won the “contest” and apparently some jewellery and a shit (i can’t remember)

Tommi eating mustard for a bet: there’s an old instagram story Joonas had posted from when BC were supporting Amaranthe (early 2020). caption says that Tommi had to eat 200g of mustard for a good amount of money 🥲

Olli following weed accounts: well that’s not very known in general but at some point a friend of mine was going through Olli’s following list on instagram to see if he’s following meme accounts and stuff. and she found out he was following at least 2 🌱 accounts lmao. anyway iirc she had tweeted that but only a few people remember it

Joel/Archie beef: i think it was after esc 2021 when Archie Cruz said that BC is shit or something like that and as you can guess some people *looks at Joel’s direction* didn’t let this drop like that. Joel dragged him in a smart way on his ig stories without mentioning names and apparently that beef went on for a while

marry me drama: right after esc 2021 again some fans ran a project. the project was to post stories in which they’d tag Joel writing “marry me? 💍” and they’d either hold a ring or edit the stories with ring stickers. the project was meant to be for fun (?) but since Joel was on a reposting spree at that time, he reposted many of the stories and many fans both on ig and twitter raised an eyebrow at this (i can see why because i did too). thing is that many of the girls in the stories were underage, which made it more cringe than it already was, even if Joel was absolutely not checking what he was reposting

An analysis on MePhone’s complicated feelings about Bow.

Now, obviously, MePhone has a lot of distaste towards Bow in s1-- she did sort of force her way into his show mid-season, despite never having signed up. He didn’t have any control of this situation, which we know now to be a very sensitive thing for him. As much as i adore Bow, it’s very reasonable that he didn’t like her.

So because of her established tendency to wedge herself into his game/join despite not being allowed to, he takes extra measures to make sure she doesn’t escape Idiotic Island.

This... does inadvertently contribute to four total deaths. I’ve written a whole analysis on why MePhone seems averse to causing harm himself! While this WASN’T entirely MePhone’s fault (Marshmallow was the one who trapped her a second time- she wouldn’t have died if she was only trapped once, but Marshmallow remembered it made her act wild), i can’t imagine he doesn’t realize he did play a part in that domino effect.  

All of this was the catalyst for the four deaths in the finale (along with the general intervention of Meeple Inc.). Bow dies with MePhone4 and 5. I feel like that is significant-- while contestants die every now and then, MePhone’s deaths are more serious (he isn’t recoverable, he’s a robot), and Bow’s was, too, as it was permanent. This also led to the death of MePhone4S, as he allowed his own termination to bring MePhone4 back.

That all marks an incredibly dark spot in the history of II! It was the day he lost the only brother aside from MePad that he’d ever managed to bond with, as well as the first time MePhone has actually experienced death (as the first one was reversed with time travel), and it was with HER! That HAS to feel pretty weird.

And i don’t think that his later dismissive references to her being dead actually challenge this-- MePhone notoriously ignores anything that makes him feel bad. He tries not to think about them at all, so it makes sense to me that he would try very hard to brush this off.

This is highlighted best here, i think-- this scene implies that MePhone had actually attempted to revive Bow on his own time.

He most likely wouldn’t have known about this without trying, and this is pushed further by him admitting he didn’t want to disappoint them. It implies he attempted to save her, failed, and then tried to cover up the fact that he just wasn’t able to by not saying why he wouldn’t bring her back.

As my friend Willow points out so wonderfully in their own analysis, MePhone takes his job as the only means of recovery very seriously. He DOES NOT want anyone to think he would allow someone to stay dead just because of his own personal dislike for them. (Please read their analysis! It’s so good!)

Anyways. This is all a very long and wordy way to say i think that, at this point in s2, MePhone’s thoughts and feelings towards Bow are really best described as “weird and complicated and kind of dark”.

BUT! Even with s3′s more lighthearted themes, i actually think this MAY have a little to do with how quickly he turns around on BowBot.

So, like i pointed out, MePhone tends to hide his feelings. This also means he’s almost NEVER very open or vulnerable with anyone. There are only about two examples- the conversation with MePad in the cave (season 2 episode 14, after MePhone shows MePad the gemory of him escaping and rescuing MePad), and the conversation between MePhone and BowBot in season 3 episode 3- where he admits to feeling silly, and they comfort him over it. Being vulnerable with MePad makes sense- they’re brothers. But BowBot makes a little less sense. They’re a contestant, and at the time, one he supposedly doesn’t like. Still, he lets his guard down with them for a moment. I wonder if it has something to do with already having been with him at a very low moment. Whatever the case, his opinion on them seems to do a sort of 180 after that, and he quickly becomes much kinder to them.

He both defends BowBot when Cabby is clearly upsetting them, and then also protects them when they don’t want to go back out. Now- i think a lot of the second one has to do with the fact that BowBot is a robot, and MePhone seems to feel some bond for other robots, as a robot himself. But he doesn’t know any of the details of this yet, just that he sees wires, and immediately agrees to help. This may be partially because the last visibly damaged robot he had seen would have been MePhone3gs, a departed sibling he was unable to help, but BowBot is here, they’re alive, and he can help in that moment.

But without any context for what’s happening with BowBot, he still mostly knows he’s helping some version of Bow. He is showing care for some version of Bow. And i think that has to have at least a little to do with their complicated history.

Unus Annus Secrets

Here I’m going to try and explain all of the Unus Annus codes + possible lore. If I have forgotten some information or if one of these links doesnt work/is incorrect please let me know. This post will be updated when needed. 

This is LONG, so be prepared. 

At first, these codes were only in videos edited by NerdFiction, but as of October 26th this is no longer true. (The possible exception to this would be the first video I’ve listed, as the editor is not in the description). 

1) 5 Weird Apps That Predicted Our Death

“The Beginning of The End”. 

On July 26th, at 12pm PST, a video was uploaded to Unus Annus titled “Traversing the Desert to Find Our Inner Truth”. This video was only up for a few minutes before it mysteriously disappeared, only to be replaced by another video, titled “The Beginning of The End”. At first glance, the videos were identical, save for different titles and slightly different descriptions. However, the second video was slightly longer than the first, and upon further inspection, many came to realize that the audio was slightly different as well. You can listen to both audios here. There was a rumor going around that the captions of “Traversing the Desert to Find Our Inner Truth” said something about looking out for Norbert Moses, but no one has been able to confirm this to my knowledge. 

8) Puberty Simulator

“Happy birthday to the beast or to the body that once housed me. A transfer made for pity’s sake. Tricked into the machine as he had my cake.” (Timestamp - 14:36) [The same code was found a week earlier in “Mark and Ethan Shave Chica”, uploaded on NerdFiction’s birthday. The original code was very difficult to make out, so it is likely he inserted it into a different video to make it easier for us.]

On the same day, NerdFiction’s Twitter bio read “Everyone must leave something behind when he dies. Memento Memoriae” (remember memory)

In “The Koala Challenge: TikTok’s Intimate Couple’s Trend” one of the clips is edited to look like a TikTok video, with the user ron_somberest being used. Ron_Somberest is an anagram for Norbert Moses. This TikTok account does actually exist, and the icon is a zoomed in and brightened photo of Norbert Moses’s face with the eyes scribbled out. 

Around this time NerdFiction’s Twitter bio read “’It’s not dark, never was’ - Ron Bestsmore”. Ron Bestsmore is also an anagram for Norbert Moses. It is possible that the “dark” being referred to here is Darkiplier, and NerdFiction is trying to imply that Dark is not involved in this. 

About a week after the koala challenge video was “How to Start a Fire (except don’t)”, which featured an appearance from Unus. NerdFiction’s Twitter bio read “In the end, who is your savior and what are they saving you from?” 

Things were quiet for about a month. NerdFiction eventually erased the cryptic message from his Twitter bio. 

9) Learning To Use The Force

“wait no something is wrong. he knows!” (Timestamp - 10:45) [translated from small coded words hidden in the montage]

10) Momiplier Tells Us True Scary Stories from Korea

“As I was, as I’ve done to him now. Am I right to decide his fate?” (Timestamp - 5:44) [Right before this, Mark’s mom is talking about a nightmare she had where she was paralyzed, possibly implying that nerdfiction was once paralyzed and has now paralyzed someone else (pointed out by @/minervas-sandwich)]

11) Cryptid Olympics

“I thought you’d join us but, hey, that was just a theory, Memento Doctrina” (remember learning). (Timestamp - 5:49) [The code references the Game Theorists channel, which had uploaded a video about Unus Annus earlier that same day.]

12) Edward Pumpkin Hands - This was the first coded video not edited by NerdFiction, instead being edited by Diceroll.

At various points throughout the video small parts of a url are seen. When pieced together, this link is made: https://imgur.com/a/tyDewJ7. It leads to a photo of the Unus Annus hourglass. When edited, a series of binary text is shown, which translates to “zhIaNL2“. Inputting this into another imgur link gets you to https://imgur.com/a/zhIaNL2. After editing the photo (although you can still sorta see it without doing so), a cipher of a custom alphabet is shown (I posted an edited photo here).

At 5:01 in the video a weird image is shown for only a moment (a slightly brightened version of it here). Nobody knows what the hell it means.

At the same time, there is a reversed audio of someone (presumably Ethan; it sounds like him) saying “we did that”. For context, the sentence said right before that line was “if one of us dies, the other has to take over for the remainder of time”. This is possibly implying that someone, or multiple someones, has/have died and been replaced.

13) Blood Bath - edited by rad_r

“Everything’s fine”

The Unus Annus timer is shown. It counts down for three seconds before counting up for one second. Heavy breathing can be heard over it. It is then cancelled by an error message

“ITS NOT FINE HELP” (this and the previous two messages are hidden at 5:57)

This is not meant to accurately represent any person or country, and no offence is meant. I just wanted to write this and I hope it isn’t rubbish.

The 2022 Eurovision Song Contest was drawing to a close. After months of preparation and anticipation, one of the greatest nights of the year was almost over, at least in its official capacity. No doubt there would be parties long into the night. The four men who made up the Dutch act for this year planned to join at least one of them, preferably returning to the hotel room no earlier than 6am. They had been asked several times by interviewers whether they hoped for greater success on their second try, and had always answered affirmatively, but their idea of success differed significantly from that of many others in the contest.

A bottle of wine was passed around the delegation as the jury votes continued. Returning Michael Schulte to the front line of musical warfare was paying dividends for Germany, and Jendrik was getting the chance to stand up and applaud every few minutes or so. Spain had picked up some 1, 2 and 3s from a few countries and now sat with a score of 12.

“And now we connect to the Irish jury. Hello Dublin.”

James continued to smile carelessly and hid his crossed fingers between his knees.

“Dublin calling, good evening…” The connection failed and the representative went blurry for a moment, only to return with a professional smile still held firmly in place. “And our 12 points go to…”

The lower points were hastily thrown up on screen and James leaned forward, scanning the selection quickly. He spotted the UK flag at the bottom right just as the scoreboard zoomed into focus, showing 12 points heading to the left hand side of the table.

“Congratulations, James!” Jendrik said, flopping onto the sofa beside him and giving him a quick hug. He looked for the UK and sighed in relief, seeing a single point had allowed it to make the small jump from 26th to 25th position.

“We did it,” he said, pumping his fist and turning to look at Blas.

“We did,” his Spanish compatriot agreed.

“Sorry Jeangu,” Jendrik added.

“Not at all,” He smiled easily and sat back. “We are the Zero Points Band, after all.”

Jendrik clapped a few times with excitement and looked back at the screen, cheering again as Germany received ten points, and nearly stepping on James in his haste to get up and celebrate. Blas gave a few gentle claps as he saw that his country had received another 3 points.

 “And now we move to the votes which you, the public, have given,” the host said. “We will go in reverse order from the country which has the lowest number of the votes from the jury, which is the Netherlands…”

The Zero Points Band cheered.

“…And continue until we reach the country with the highest number of votes, which is…”

The host’s mouth continued to move, but their microphone appeared to have cut out. They brought their hand to the device and fiddled with it, glancing to their co-host for assistance. Someone hurried out from backstage to assist and the cameraperson focused on the co-host, who seemed a little surprised to be left alone.

“Yes,” they said. “And we will now begin to give out the points from the televote, starting with the Netherlands.”

The members of the Zero Points Band gathered together on the sofa, clasping onto each other’s hands as they awaited their fate. The co-host looked down at the numbers in front of them and their concerned expression gave away the result before they spoke.

“Netherlands, you have received…0 points.”

No country had ever been so pleased to receive nothing. Jendrik roared with glee and leapt up to complete a small victory run in front of the sofa. James and Blas shouted exuberantly at the camera which sped towards them, and Jeangu simply smiled and blew a kiss to the audience at home. The co-host’s apology died in their throat as they watched the scene.

“Well, some good reactions there,” they remarked. They returned to their attention to the camera. “Let’s continue. The next to receive points from the televote will be the United Kingdom.”

The Zero Points Band immediately settled down, gathering around James as they waited. He supposed it didn’t matter what happened now – they had achieved their objective after all – but it would still be nice to…

“United Kingdom, the televote has given you…7 points.”

The cheers on the Dutch sofa nearly blew out the microphones. James turned and gave a happy thumbs-up to the British delegation, who looked at him as if he had lost his mind. The Italian hosts seemed to think the same thing.

“Some celebration from the Dutch delegation,” the host, whose microphone had been fixed by now, noted with a small hint of judgement. “Let’s move on.”

“Oh, sorry. That was probably rude,” James said.

“Well done,” his bandmates said, crowding in for a group hug.

There was one other country between the UK and Spain, allowing time to cool down before it was time to surround Blas. He clasped his hands nervously over his mouth as the host spoke.

“Spain, the public has given you…60 points.”

Blas immediately began muttering in rapid fire Spanish as his bandmates crowded in for a hug, offering congratulations. He pulled away a little to watch his country leapfrog to the bottom of the left-hand side, and turned around to find and applaud the Spanish act. They waved the little flag back at him and then looked surprised when it flew away, leaving them holding an empty stick.

 There was a long gap of countries then, giving them time to relax with another glass of wine and bask in their victory.

“Do you know what I was thinking?” Jendrik asked.

“What?” Jeangu looked at him curiously.

“It’s a shame Blas’ name doesn’t start with J. We could call ourselves the J-Team. That would be such a cool name for a band.”

“I love that,” James agreed. “You don’t have a J anywhere in your name, do you?”

“Even if I did, it would not be pronounced the same. Sorry.” Blas shrugged, clearly not sorry at all.

“Oh well,” Jendrik shrugged. “I guess we’ll have to continue as the Zero Points Band. That’s alright.”

“Do you think we will continue?”

“Well, we could be like the…what was their name?” He lightly tapped his forehead. “The Icelandic band last year?”

“Oh, they were great,” James said enthusiastically. The others murmured in agreement.

“Yeah, so we could form just for Eurovision. I’d like that. This is so much fun.”

“Yeah, it is,” James nodded. “I’m up for that.”

“Sure, why not?” Blas agreed. Jeangu simply nodded.

“Great,” Jendrik toasted them and then turned onto his back to check the screen. “Oh, my turn.”

 “Next up, we have Germany,” the host said. “Will the points from the public be enough to lift them to winning position? We will soon find out.”

The co-host took their cue to check the numbers. “From the public, Germany has received…218 points! Congratulations!”

Michael Schulte and his delegation smiled at the camera, and at Jendrik as he waved madly and then applauded. Germany jumped to first position on the scoreboard.

“Now Germany is in the lead, but there are still seven countries waiting to receive their points…”

Those seven countries didn’t matter, however. The Zero Points Band had had a wonderful night and three of them reclined on the sofa, thinking happily of the party ahead, while Jendrik tried to take a photo of the scoreboard before it changed again. James also took his phone out.

“Hey Jendrik,” he called. He beckoned his friend over and made room for him to squash into frame as he held the phone aloft. Once all four of them were fully visible and smiling, he took the photo and then sent it to his bandmates. Before long, the social media accounts of each contained a photo of four different men from different countries. All of them looked tired and a little drunk, but joy radiated from them. The caption underneath was the same across the accounts:

Finished my first park in what feels like a very long time, here's Electric Fields! I'll post under this thread the detail and name of each unique ride for any who's interested!

Submerged Ramparts and Angel Garden were the first two rides to having a dedicated mini area for the aesthetic, with the rapid rides taking place in a dilapidated, water logged castle, and the mini car ride has you taking through a pleasant stroll amongst giant garden creatures.

The Flooded Dam Site is a ride inspired off the idea that the river which flows from through the park and what sunk the castle was because of wanton flumes flowing through and around the bank, and this ride lets you explore the upheaval of the doomed project.

Malbogia, Valbogia, and Thunder Light are some of the attractions that make up the 'electric' part of Electric Farm. Malbogia and Valbogia are mirrored coasters, starting and ending at the same time while Thunder Light is an enjoyable mini coaster that everyone is able to ride.

Here we have Salamander and Vic Viper, arguably the centerpiece of the park, it is a large, dueling Wooden Coaster (something of an unintentional trademark of mine) that end at *just* the right timing and focus around the previously vacated barn.

Nestled just outside the barn is an enjoyable wonderland themed restpoint, with Candy Romp going over and around the lower path, allowing visitors to enjoy a much more peaceful area in contrast to the towering twin coasters just north of it.

To the west of the barn lies the prehistoric Go-Karts Dinosaur Garden and the low energy minecart ride Factory Highway, both of which are reachable by going through or around the barn.

The aptly enormous gigacoaster here is Serpent Of Savage Tides, the longest coaster in the park. Utilizing the games mechanic of chain lifts always supporting a car even with single track pieces, I was able to wind it up quite high without having the climb take up space.

And last but not least, The Hollowtowers, whose aesthetic loosely goes off my friend @hp_hollowtones, this coaster lacks a conventional lift, instead boosting through dual 65ft loops and letting momentum carry it all the way home.

What if there was Rollercoaster in the dark ages and we simply didn't have the proper means of recording? What if Rollercoasters were....Dragons? Welcome to Mirefautin Forest, where Dragons and Thrills are one in the same! Thread will go into details for each major coaster.

Just as Cagliostro was the great ancestor of alchemy, this coaster was the first to be built and managed to keep up amazingly well with all future ideas. The most fun part of this coaster to me is the way it climbs to the top for it's many drops and turns.

The Woadweed Dancers provide a calmer alternative to Cagliostro, and remains the parks premier coaster for younger or easily scared riders, it was built with the idea to occupy the space that Cagliostro had left open, making it 'dance' above the commonfolk.

The largest and most daunting ride, Wyvern Flame Diffusion, emulates the swooping and diving of a hellbent wyvern destroying a castle, this ride is thunderous, fast, and not for the faint of heart, yet remains the parks most popular ride due to the unique castle theming.

A jagged mountain looms over all, none approaching the destroyed fortress that lies on high. Dragonpeak Desolation is a reverse suspendered incline coaster that offers the quickest and most haunting thrills as you twist and loop up the mountain, only to do it again in reverse!

As fast as lighting, Thunder Dragon Malsin starts at a wild 49MPH as you destroy the town before you, culminating in massive quarter loops that see you make devastation of the town's centerpiece tavern.

Great Contest is the town sanctioned race where Silver and Great mare's race above the tree's, the people, and even hollow caves below! This is a dual coaster ensuring that no matter how fast or far they are, they always end up neck and neck by the end!

The final Dragon is Heraldic Dragon Tiamatiz, the one who heralds in the forest and it's creatures. The way this coaster works is that it goes beneath the ground before ramping up speed to clear all the inversions.

·         Blink-182’s Travis Barker, YUNGBLUD and Machine Gun Kelly shared that they are currently in the studio working on a brand new track for the latter’s upcoming pop-punk album, Tickets to My Downfall. Kelly also revealed other previous collaborators on his new project.

·         In a recent Instagram posts, Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba replied to a comment saying we can expect a new EP very soon. Skiba explained the three upcoming songs are mixed and mastered, and come out the day before their tour with Bad Religion.

·         Asking Alexandria revealed their sixth full-length record will be titled Like a House on Fire, which comes three years after their self-titled 2017 release and arrives on May 15th via Sumerian Records. The band also delighted fans with a single, “Antisocialist.”

·         FEVER 333 wrote, recorded and released a new song, “Presence is Strength,” in light of last Tuesday’s primary elections in 14 U.S. states. In addition to the song, lead singer Jason Aalon Butler also released a new solo track, “Bulletproof.”

·         Machine Gun Kelly gave us his new music video for “Why Are You Here” after it was leaked by a fan. The video is colorful, action-packed and centered around fruit, and Kelly went on to ask fans to stream the track as much as possible.

·         Boston Manor surprised fans with two new songs, “Ratking” and “On a High Ledge,” off of their upcoming third album Glue. The aforementioned album is set to release on May 1st via Pure Noise Records.

TOUR ANNOUNCEMENTS:

·         PVRIS dropped a new song, “Dead Weight,” as well as announced the “Use Me U.S. Tour” that will take place two months prior to their tour with Halsey this summer. The tour kicks off on May 8th in Columbus, Ohio, and finishes up on June 10th in Seattle.

·         Sadly, YUNGBLUD is the latest musician to join the list of performers that have canceled shows in Asia over coronavirus concerns. The singer took to his Instagram to announce the unfortunate news.

·         My Chemical Romance officially announced another European show in St. Petersburg, Russia, which offers another look at the skeletal figure from their previous “An Offering…” video. The gig takes place two days after their performance in Moscow.

·         Falling in Reverse canceled the final show of their tour on March 4th, which was set to take place in Sacramento, California. The band cited its reasoning to drummer Johnny Mele’s food poisoning and emergency surgery for Ronnie Radke’s girlfriend, WWE’s Paige.

·         Hayley Williams is celebrating the release of her debut solo album by heading out to Europe and across North America on a tour this summer. The vocalist gave her first single, “Simmer,” its live debut at Collina Strada’s show during NY Fashion Week in mid-February.

·         Armor for Sleep revealed the support for the whole tour, Never Loved, as well as the Cold Seas for all East Coast dates and Silence of You for all West Coast and Central dates. The tour celebrates the 15th anniversary of the 2005 album What to Do When You Are Dead.

·         SXSW’s website stated they have been forced to cancel this year’s festival by the City of Austin, Texas. The festival is exploring options to reschedule the event and is working to provide a virtual SXSW online experience as soon as possible for 2020 participants.

·         Post Malone fans expressed concern for his well-being after performance videos from the second leg of his Runaway Tour began making the rounds, where he appeared unwell. The rapper has since addressed the claims from the stage of his latest tour stop.

·         Halsey played her Bring Me the Horizon collaboration “Experiment on Me” from the Birds of Prey soundtrack live for the first time in Glasgow. Prior to this date, she had been closing her sets out with the songs “Ashley,” “Gasoline” and “Without Me.”

·         Scary Kids Scaring Kids are resuming celebrating 15 years of The City Sleeps in Flames at the end of June. The band has recruited the Classic Crime, Picturesque and Eidola as supporting acts for the new leg.

·         Four Chord Music Festival is returning for its seventh year this summer in Pittsburgh. In the first wave of announcements, the annual event has revealed Blink-182 and the Used will appear as headliners at the July 11th date.

·         Linkin Park is planning on celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album Hybrid Theory all year long, asking fans for contributions to help make the events they have planned special. The band members asked fans for submissions of videos, photos and souvenirs.

·         Jimmy Eat World announced the Criminal Energy Tour in support of their latest album Surviving, which will kick off on August 6th in Atlanta and end September 5th in Phoenix. They will be joined by the Front Bottoms, Turnover and Joyce Manor.

·         City and Colour declared he is playing a one-off show in Toronto for the 15th anniversary of his debut album Sometimes. The show will take place at the Budweiser Stage on August 7th, which marks the 10th time he has performed at the venue.

·         According to YourEDM, Coachella is being moved ahead six months to give more time to assess the coronavirus outbreak. Fans and local residents initially started a petition to have organizers cancel the event over the growing issue.

·         After revealing the 320 Project, Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman and 320 Changes Direction founder Talinda Bennington announced the first-ever 320 Fest, taking place on May 9th at L.A. Live. The free event strives to bring awareness to mental health.

·         The Hit Like a Girl drumming contest has returned for its ninth year of competition, which gives female drummers and percussionists the opportunity to show off their skills. Executive director of the organization, David Levine, first created the contest in 2011.

·         The Maine drummer Pat Kirch and his wife Shacara Nemetz announced that their first child, Charlotte Rose, was born on Leap Day. Kirch shared photos of their family’s newest member with a brief, loving caption.

·         A new app, Jadu, was revealed that allows users to interact with holograms of their favorite musicians and share them to social media accounts. Among the app’s familiar faces are Palaye Royale, Poppy, Vic Mensa and more.

·         Green Day announced they are auctioning a guitar on Reverb.com to raise funds for ALS research. The gesture is in memory of Kim Shattuck, leader of iconic 90s punk outfit, the Muffs.

·         At the very end of their tour in Sacramento, California, the Word Alive posted that they were robbed of nearly $10,000 worth of personal effects and merchandise. In response to the crime, the band later released a new merch item, a shirt, to cover the expenses.

·         According to Deadline, Machine Gun Kelly is set to star alongside Sam Worthington in the action western film The Last Son of Isaac LeMay, which begins production in Montana next month. The rapper’s role will see him as the leader of a gang of young outlaws.

·         Dance Gavin Dance announced they are creating a graphic novel called Robot’s Tale: A Dance Gavin Dance Graphic Novel, which will hit stores this May. The book is a collaboration with Z2 Comics, which has also worked with BABYMETAL, YUNGBLUD, Poppy and more.

·         Dr. Martens and Sanrio, the creators of Hello Kitty, revealed their new collaborative line is celebrating anniversaries for both of them after they released a similar collab a decade ago. The new collection includes multiple sets of boots, kids’ footwear, sandals and a satchel.

·         On March 7th, Twitter and Reddit users realized all of Fall Out Boy’s music videos the From Under the Cork Tree era have disappeared from YouTube. In attempting to access the links, viewers are told, “Video unavailable. This video has been removed by the user.”
