Throughout the months-long resistance effort, pipeline opponents have protested through legal channels as well as peaceful civil disobedience. In return, they have faced dog attacks, water cannons in subzero temperatures, and tear gas, in addition to arrest and trumped up charges.

But tensions have escalated since newly-elected President Donald Trump issued an executive order last month calling for the completion of the controversial pipeline, which the tribe says infringes on treaty rights, and threatens to pollute their water and that of 17 million Americans.

"After the deadline for February 22 at 2pm, we are all at risk of facing arrest, police brutality, federal charges and prison time.”

The NoDAPL Global Solidarity Campaign has called for a Week of Action from February 12th – 17th. The Army Corps has approved the final easement and drilling has begun! The Solidarity Campaign is asking for supporters to take action and escalate pressure against corporations that are funding the Dakota Access Pipeline.

I don't usually do something like this, but getting the message out there is something very important to me. Nawáh, sšúxu`. KatatAxaáA Gidybaus. Taatačitaá'A káNIt, wiitatshánu na sahnish. Hello, my relatives. My name is Bright Eyes. I come from the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara tribes. I am a Standing Rock activist within the state of Montana and I am originally from North Dakota. I go to Montana State for paleontology and Native American studies. I have been to the Oceti Sakowin and Sacred Stone camps numerous times before this and I am currently sitting in one of my afternoon classes as I write this. Today has been particularly hard for me since the evictions are still taking place at Standing Rock. Innocent people are being arrested and this is all for an oil pipeline. A pipeline. A piece of machinery. I don't know about you, but this is just wrong. Since when have human beings stooped to a level where a man-made structure is more important than people's lives and wellbeing? Where did the love for people of different religion, sex, color, etc. go in this short of time? This pipeline has affected my view on the entire world and it saddens me that law enforcement would rather protect a black snake rather than men, women, children, two spirits, elders, etc. North Dakota has turned from my home state to something I don't even recognize anymore. I don't talk about race here because it's not about that. This is about human decency and we have lost that as a species. Only when we cut down the last tree, killed the last animal, and polluted our last water source will people realize that we cannot eat or drink money. My Indigenous brothers and sisters, along with people of all different colors and genders are standing against the creed of oil companies and state governments. I stand with Standing Rock and I ask you to stand up. Aho! ✊🏽

Dignity is a sculpture on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River near Chamberlain, South Dakota. The 50-foot high stainless steel statue, by South Dakota artist laureate Dale Lamphere, depicts an Indigenous woman in Plains-style dress receiving a star quilt. According to Lamphere, the sculpture honors the culture of the Lakota and Dakota peoples who are indigenous to South Dakota. SHARE!

Water protectors are preparing for tommorow's eviction, or what some are calling it "The last stand" Their plan is to continue to resist and hold their ground and not leave camp, they have decided to fight it all the way and protect clean water and sacred land. Some tents and belongings were put away by some water protectors, they said they would rather put their belongings away themselves than to have DAPL police/National guards come in tomorrow and destroy everything that they have, but their plans are also to remain at camp and resist, even if it means to put their lives on the line for clean water and sacred land. A while ago, @aubadeglass and I went to get these tattoos at Enso Tattoo. The entirety of the cost of the tattoo was donated directly to the water protectors at Standing Rock. I want to share this now because I want to remind everyone that Energy Transfer is still doing everything they can to push the pipeline forward despite their permits being denied by the Army Corps of Engineers. We need to continue to support the peaceful warriors and peaceful protectors. We need to protect the land and the water. We need to stop exploiting and start protecting.
