“The attorneys representing young people who are suing the federal government in a major climate change lawsuit recently took the unusual step of filing an injunction to stop all new leases for fossil fuel production. If the injunction is granted, it would lead to a nationwide moratorium on new fossil fuel permitting and leasing on federal lands and waters until the lawsuit is resolved. No small matter. However, existing mining and drilling projects would still proceed.“

WE ARE ALREADY in the midst of #CLIMATECRISIS, so why are protestors, demanding action in nonviolent ways, being pepper sprayed and arrested? ⁣⁣

In my opinion, this is a last-ditch effort for those profiting off of our current systems, that pollute and benefit from exploitation, to make sure their pockets and power keep growing. ⁣⁣

The idiocy of that logic, however, is that we can’t eat money, drink money, or breath money... Even as #ecoapartheid is killing the poorest first, despite them contributing the least to #ClimateBreakdown, and the wealthy are feeling that they can temporarily buy their way out of the consequences, science shows is that if we don’t change our ways in the next decade... that 2 degrees of livable warming is a pipe dream.⁣⁣

With 3-8 degrees of warming. No matter how wealthy or powerful you are, you will NOT be able to adapt.⁣⁣

Instead of using this senseless violence now, why not instead use your resources to try and make our future livable?⁣⁣
