Mathematicians will literally fit an infinite plane on a sphere with radius=1 and then look you in the eye and deny being wizards:

This plot of Riemann's zeta (ζ) function (here with argument z) shows trivial zeros where ζ(z) = 0, a pole where ζ(z) = , the critical line of nontrivial zeros with Re(z) = 1/2 and slopes of absolute values. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riemann_hypothesis)

QPP gave me the first book of Scum Villain Self-Saving System because I told them I want to learn how to write stuff they enjoy.
(Yes, I haven’t given up on writing original work even though my usual fare is cyborg smut warhammer fanfic. And given that husband and QPP are the only human beings who I’ll ever convince to touch something I wrote that isn’t fanfic, I need to cater to my audience)
But bro.
I’m going to need to blog about me reading this, as a person who has never touched this genre (I don’t even know what this counts as, Chinese BL? Cultivation? Isekai? A parody of all of the above?) because whoa. What the hell.
(It’s probably relevant to mention that I’m a complete novice in Chinese novels in general, and don’t really read tradpub BL, nor isekai or cultivation stuff. When it comes to non-fanfic I’m mostly into “boring” stories that would qualify as slice of life, historical novels, biographies, and some Bildungsroman/character study work. I also enjoy Tolkien, crime procedurals and medical thrillers. In short: I AM SO NOT THE AUDIENCE FOR THIS BOOK.)
I don’t think I’m going to make it through this book if I don’t approach it like a book report. And keep some kind of glossary of who all these people with hard to remember names actually are.
But I’ll keep an open mind. I’ve never met a book I didn’t learn anything from.
Any tips for a noob like me getting into this (at this point still baffling to me) genre are very welcome.

Hadamard knew in 1898 that negative curvature and simply connectedness for surfaces embedded in 3-space force uniqueness of geodesics joining two points—implying that any segment of geodesic is also a shortest path.
But there is a long way toward the modern statement: “on any complete abstract Riemannian manifold of ≥0 curvature of any dimension, curvature is the quotient of its universal covering by a discrete group of isometries.”
Marcel Berger, Riemannian Geometry during the Second Half of the Twentieth Century

I need to personally kill Newton and Leibniz and every professor who insists on teaching the archaic and severely outdated and redundant ideas and concepts of limits, interpreting derivatives, and curve sketching. Anyone who says Calc II is harder than Calc I is horribly wrong and should have tomatoes thrown at them

Shoutout to Victor Riemann too. im a big fan of how they just. Had another guy show up in the tail end of season 4. Like oh this guy doesn’t know how expendable he is to the narrative he doesn’t even know he’s in the finale does he. Shows up, is evil, gets blown up. Good for him i suppose.
