Oscar’s note being illegible was because of the patrons choosing the option to forget knowing him during episode 40, the other options being to forget meeting John and to forget the duck pond memory of Faroe, which Arthur called his happiest. my brain is itching to write like a 3000 word essay on na baekjin but i don't know what to say like where do i even begin with this kid. golden child, promising young man, treated like trash from childhood so learns how to attack instead of defending himself. like, nothing he does is normal, everything is too much, everything is taken too far with him. he has to be excellent at everything, nothing is ever good enough, it can always be taken one step farther, improved, perfected. he doesn't know where to draw the line, or what the line even looks like. it's that one math problem he keeps getting wrong and even when sieun tells him the right answer he's frustrated because it was never about the answer, it was about him not figuring it out himself. he got it wrong. how could he get it wrong? how could anyone else but him figure it out? it doesn't matter that he meticulously crafted the entire puzzle, it's that someone else put in the last missing piece. and he can't take it! how dare anyone surpass him! after everything he's done! after getting so far! his calculated gaze holds so much aggression and pain and greed and he uses his calm demeanor to mask all of that burning rage. and it's so tough, to constantly hide the fact that you're screaming inside but he does it flawlessly. yet. ultimately violence wins. that missing puzzle piece costs him his life. he was always meant to make the wrong choices. he was always meant to lose. he was born a puppet hanging on strings. so he cut them loose. but the solid ground underneath was a mirage and he fell into a bottomless pit. an endless abyss that consumed him whole.

I think I've identified something pretty funny and ironic about my taste in unwilling kink scenes/stories: I prefer scenarios that are totally inescapable over scenarios where there's a chance for escape.

The main reason is because there's never actually a chance for escape, it's just to give the character a goal to struggle for and fail at. And for me, watching characters fail often feels bad, especially after they tried so hard. I'm not the biggest fan of struggling either, so all the trying to escape just feels like a distraction from the fun.

In my unwilling stories, I tend to seal the character's fate pretty early on; in stories like Plufri the Plushie Dragon, the character fights to resist and fails, but it happens quickly and early, in this case before the story even starts. Even when there's resistance, it's clear there's no escape. My story Thorn's Helpless Relaxation even straight-up says "their fate was sealed" in the second paragraph. The struggle is more a matter of flavor and principle than success or failure.

Because isn't that so comforting? Isn't it so much nicer to be helpless, then to struggle out of false hope? When there's no hope for escape, it makes it so much easier to submit~
