Rise as ONE! Event Story Summary

TL;DR: While on his morning runs, Akito often runs into Ichihara and Max, a pair training for a dog disc throwing competition with the dream to one day compete nationally. One day, Akito also runs into Minori, Samo, Honami, and Shibao on a play date. When Max stops running after the disc, they realize Ichihara had hurt himself the day before a competition. The group offers to throw in his place, but with Akito as the only person who can throw the disc well enough, they run into even more problems.

Rui crosses paths with the group and offers his support in helping Akito get over his fear. The group learns Akito's fear stems from a traumatic event in the past, where a dog had continuously chased him across a playground set, causing him to fall off. This makes him especially terrified of dogs running, which is a challenge for a disc-throwing race.

Honami talks to KAITO in secret during a lunch break. KAITO had watched Shibao for her a little while ago while she was busy with rehearsal. Though KAITO was scared at first because Shibao kept barking, he realized it was just because he wanted to play.

From this, Honami suggest observing Max playing from a distance to build a mutual understanding. Through this, Akito learns Max is a kind, patient dog who cares deeply about his partner. Suddenly, Minori accidentally misthrows her disc, causing Samo to race towards a frozen Akito. Max steps in to protect Akito. To properly thank him, Akito manages to pet Max.

On the day of the competition, Akito and Max successfully throw a majority of their discs and earn third place. Though Akito hasn't completely gotten over his fear of dogs, he's made significant progress (at least with Max).

Chapter 1: When Akito stops for a drink during his morning run, he crosses paths with a guy, Ishihara, and his dog, Max, training with a disc. A gust of wind blows the disc towards Akito, who throws the disc away out of panic. To his surprise, Max manages to catch it. Ishihara comes to apologize and explains how he's been practicing for an upcoming tournament, since they dream of competing nationally one day. Max looks at Akito like he wants to be pet, but when he barks, Ishihara finally realizes Akito is afraid of dogs. The two part ways so Akito can finish his run.

Chapter 2: Leo/need finishes a practice session in SEKAI. Shiho and Honami decide to practice a rhythm section together that weekend after Honami finishes walking Shibao at the dog park. When KAITO expressed concern over Shibao's health, Honami explained that KAITO had helped watch him once when Honami was unable. KAITO had done it since all the Leo/need Virtual Singers chose committees for themselves, and KAITO chose animal care. Honami will be walking with Minori and Samo that weekend as well.

A few days later, Akito finishes another run at the park, surprised to not find Max and Ishihara. Instead, Minori, Honami, Shibao, and Samo are playing together. Minori recognizes Akito and runs over to him, dogs in tow. Honami immediately picks up on his fear, though he tries to deny it at first. Suddenly, Max starts running over to Akito, leading to everyone apologizing to Akito. When the two try and leave, Akito notices Ishihara has hurt his leg.

Chapter 3: Ishihara tries to deny it since the tournament is the next day, but Max refuses to run when his partner is hurt. Ishihara decides to withdraw from the tournament at Honami's insistence. Minori offers to go in Ishihara's place. She struggles to aim the disc, though, and Samo keeps accidentally interfering, so Minori has to step down. Max keeps trying to give Akito the disc. Though he's initially hesitant, Honami's words and Max's will convince Akito to take up the challenge. Honami and Minori (along with Samo and Shibao) offer their support, too.

Chapter 4: Ishihara teaches Akito how to throw the disc while Minori and Honami play with Max. He gets the hang of it quickly, so they soon add Max in to catch. He caught it mid-air. Though Akito tried his best to not panic when Max ran back, he had to run away. In the meantime, Rui ends up crossing paths with the group, along with a robotic dog prototype. Rui asks if Akito will be ok at the disc dog competition, since he's also already picked up on Akito's fear.

After hearing the full story, Rui decides to help Akito get over his fear of dogs. He suggests playing with Max first to get more comfortable around him. Honami shows Akito how to properly greet and pet a dog. Akito tries letting Max sniff his hand, but instinctively backs up. Rui asks about the source of Akito's fear.

Chapter 5: A flashback from a decade or so ago is shown. Akito and Ena play soccer at a park, when a dog suddenly runs out from the bushes towards Akito. Surprised, Akito starts running, so the dog chases him. He runs up the slide so the dog can't follow him. The dog keeps staring at him, which causes Akito to fall off the playground. He freaks out when the dog runs over.

After the story, Minori suggests taking a break to come up with some new ideas. The group goes to get lunch together. Shibao keeps digging through Honami's bag, where KAITO was hiding to try and see him. Honami sneaks away to talk. KAITO reveals he was also a bit frightened by Shibao the first time they met because he kept barking, but KAITO got over that fear by understanding why Shibao kept barking. Since he couldn't play with the lonely dog when Honami was gone, he decided to play guitar for him. Honami thanks KAITO for the accidental advice and goes back to the group.

Chapter 6: Though Akito's a little hesitant at first, they decide to give Honami's suggestion a try. They start by watching Max play with the others from a distance. Rui shares some of his own observations before instructing his robot to do a triple axel spin. Rui then asks Akito to watch Max's reactions. Akito realizes Max is still worried about Ishihara. A young kid walks over and pets Max, which helps Akito learn he's a patient dog, too. With some newfound understanding, Aktio asks to try something new.

Chapter 7: Rui has Akito watch Shibao and Samo play fetch next. Rui throws the disc with Max with Akito standing next to him after that. He does a lot better with the throw, but still tenses up when Max runs back. Rui suggests the only way to get better now is to slowly get used to dogs running his way. Suddenly, Samo comes running towards Akito after Minori misthrows her disc. Akito can't move from fear, but Max jumps in front to protect him. To properly thank him, Akito tries petting Max again. He successfully manages to let Max sniff his hand, and, believing in Max, pets him with shaking hands.

Chapter 8: The day of the competition arrives. Everyone came to cheer on Max and Akito. Max and Akito were able to successfully throw, catch, and receive the disc on their first three throws. The fourth was dropped due to a strong wind, but everyone's support, the long-throw fifth was caught to advance to the finals. Akito recognizes Max wants pets and manages to give him a scratch.

Akito and Max ended up getting third place in the competition. Ishihara thanks Akito and the others for all their help. Akito is glad he was able to partially get over his fear of dogs, at least with Max. He's still scared of other dogs, but less than before.

NEW PJSEKAI AU: 80's mysteries.

An AU where the rising idol star, Shizuku Hinomori, disappears mysteriously, and no one has a clue of where she is.

Three years after, Tsukasa Tenma, Shizuku's former partner, receives a anonymous phone call, telling him that Shizuku wasn't kidnapped, but murdered. And the murderer was still on the loose, and that he needed to find him.

Enter Rui Kamishiro, Tsukasa's classmate for years now, but they have never interacted before, until another mysterious voicemail tells Tsukasa that Rui has more help to offer than he thinks.

While they talked about the disappearance.of Shizuku, they notice one thing: both Rui's camera and Tsukasa's phone had broken in the day that the idol went missing, and then strange things started to happen to them involving the objects: Tsukasa receiving weird voicemails and Rui having people in his photos, even though they where never there.

Both objects connect to one thing, a group of friends : the street group VividBad Squad, which all members went missing, and which all of the disappearances had a link to Shizuku.

In this AU, we follow Rui and Tsukasa in the 80s on a cliche mystery film of the time, full of teenage drama, secrets, surprises and, of course, mystery.

(btw this is an AU with past Shizukasa and current Ruikasa so probably there will be a lot more Shizukasa angst than normal. Oops)

Also suggested that you should open a bakery, claiming that, "with your skills you'll definitely become a famous baker in no time!"

Will tease you for giving him a surprise pastry.

Definitely eats them as a snack as he builds his inventions and draws his blueprints.

Either that or midnight snack. Let's be honest, he probably only gets 3 hours of sleep at best with how many inventions he makes. Not to mention those ideas of his.

If he ever catches you baking, it can and will turn into a flour fight. Honestly it'll probably be a war that ends with the kitchen being all messy.

Jokingly say "My compliments to the baker." although he truly meant it.

Nene Kusanagi

Will act all shy because she never has anyone give her anything and a surprise at that?

Definitely eats them as a snack while she plays her video games.

If she sees you baking in the kitchen, she'll try her best to help you. Cooking Mama style. Do the Mama accent and you either get a laugh or a jab in the gut.

She either groans or giggles as you make a Minecraft reference while making a cake/cookies.

She probably suggested you make foods from different games/shows. For example, cookie cat from Steven Universe, butterscotch cinnamon pie from Undertale, the cake from Portal, etc etc.

One day you surprised her by making bacon pancakes from Adventure Time for breakfast and her face lit up.

Emu Otori

Congratulations, you've officially become her favorite person.

Will ask you directly if you have any pastries with you. Who can blame her? It's delicious! And if she could she'll eat it all day everyday!

If she sees you baking in the kitchen, she'll be super excited at the thought of helping you. Imagine a child who wanted to help their parents cook/bake with stars in their eyes, yeah, that's her.

Another day, another show, another successful day for the troupe.

"You guys did wonderful today, a total of 246 tickets were sold." [Name] stated, looking through the clipboard in his hand.

He's been friends with Tsukasa since childhood who have found joy in the world of theater although not being talented in either singing or dancing, [Name] has become their manager. He's quite grateful for such an opportunity. After all, what's a troupe without a manager?

His carrying nature made him the perfect manager for the troupe and they can't ask for a better manager.

"246 tickets!? That's a lot!" Emu cheered, it's only been a few months since they all started their path towards their dreams and to think they've already made such a progress. "Of course! It's only expected that people wanted to see our show! To see a star!" Tsukasa claims as he smiles proudly at their achievement.

Nene merely smiles as she watches the group being happy at their rising to stardom. "So manager, what's on our schedule for today?" Rui asked curiously.

"Why don't we have a break? It's been a long day."

As the group have a small break, [Name] left to grab something before long he returns with....

"Cookies! You're the best [Name]!" Emu cheered, her eyes sparkles the moment her eyes locked on the small container in their manger's hands. "When did you have the time to do this?" Nene asked.

[Name] puts the container on the table, smiling softly as he watch the group enjoy the cookies he made. He had always enjoy baking and surprising them with fresh pastries had easily became a hobby of his. "I managed." He replied, taking a seat next to Nene.

"Hmm~ You should open a bakery! These are delicious!" Tsukasa compliments as he took another bite of the cookie. "Fufu~ as expected of our manager~" Rui chuckles, eating the pastry with a cheshire grin.

"Honestly, you don't have to.." Nene says, nibbling on the cookie. "But I wanted to~ plus seeing your guys faces every time I gave pastries are always a joy to see~"

Their manager's baking skills had never failed to surprise them. They look absolutely adorable and they're really delicious! The first time he does this, they thought it would just be a one time thing but as time passes. [Name] continues to give them copious amounts of pastries.

They're forever grateful for their manager, not only for the pastries, but for his whole support.

It won't be long until their little theater troupe would make it big and they have their manager to thank them. Who knows? Maybe [Name] might actually start a bakery with Wonderland X Showtime promoting it? Killing two birds with one stone, no?

~"How is [x] character a fashion disaster? I like their look/ they're iconic/ they look alright/ etc. etc." First of all, this is a very lighthearted competition that doesn't mean to be negative or judgmental! A Fashion Disaster can sometimes be (affectionate): in some cases there's nothing more iconic than a bit of this pizazz. I like quite a few of the looks on this list (and sometimes dress much worse) but if they have been included, this means that either: 1) they have been nominated multiple times 2) they have been nominated at least once and whoever nominated them provided a very convincing or funny explanation of why they were a Fashion Disaster (for example by pointing out one particularly bad outfit - not necessarily their main outfit!) 3) they have been nominated at least once and upon looking them up, I noticed that they tick many of the boxes that were described repeatedly in other people's explanations of what they consider disastrous: e.g. clashing patterns, excessive accessories, crocs, bad haircuts, etc. etc. In any case, every poll will come with a brief explanation of why people have been nominating a certain character! To make sure that people vote informed ❤️ ~"Why are you randomizing matchups instead of seeding?" I totally see the value of seeding for most competitions, but this one here is largely unpredictable - a lot of characters got the same amount of nominations, and how Disastrous they are is entirely subjective. The competition is also quite visual-based - it's about looks rather than knowing a character, so it's more likely that people will vote for an unknown character than in other competitions, which risk becoming popularity polls quite quickly. Basically: I'd simply have no idea how to determine the ranking of most contestants here for proper seeding! That's why I opt for randomized matches - but I did make sure to put the two most nominated characters on the opposing sides of the bracket. ~"Why is [x] character not included?" There was a total of 174 unique characters nominated to this tournament! If the one you were rooting for did not make it, I'm sorry! One or more of the following was likely the cause: 1) they have not been nominated more than once 2) they have not ticked as many boxes for what other people considered disastrous as some other characters with a single nomination did 3) a lot of characters have been submitted from the same source. After choosing 3 most nominated ones, I couldn't include more! The rule is max. 3 characters per source. ~"Is propaganda encouraged?"

Tsukasa is usually loud

It's not that you hate it but you were just not having the best time for now and accidentally snapped

You didn't mean to escalate it to a heated argument

And of course sometimes when a person is mad they tend to spat out harsh words (deja vu)

There's one thing you mentioned that finally made Tsukasa walk away and by that you finally realized maybe you should've just told him what's bothering you

You swear you didn't mean it and try to chase after him but you stopped, saying to yourself maybe he needs some time alone

You walk around the main street to clear your mind and then you saw him...

Without thinking, you ran towards Tsukasa

Tsukasa doesn't know if he should run away from you but he doesn't have enough time to decide when you wrapped your arms around his neck and cling your legs on his waist like a koala, repeatedly saying 'sorry's and 'i love you's

Tsukasa is a bit embarrassed (mostly cuz u two are in public) but he wraps his arms around you while whispering back comforting sweet words and 'i love you too's in a uncharacteristically almost silent voice yet you hear everything clearly

The people that are walking by are looking at you two in awe and disgust

"Y'all making me wanna jump off my apartment building" –a random passerby (probably)

With that settled, you tell him what's wrong and he buys you an ice cream and treated you on a shopping date to get your mind off of it

Tsukasa was actually supposed to be in rehearsals but this is worth it.. one missed rehearsal isn't that big of a deal

Rui Kamishiro

Rui just finished a new creation of his and he was just so excited to show it to you

Unfortunately you are too busy for this but he kept insisting, he has been building this for months and he's really eager to show you

You being stuck on one question on your test paper and Rui nudging you on your sides only made your stress level get high

He kept on talking you into it and you let out a groan of annoyance while swatting away his hand that is previously resting on your shoulder

Obviously disappointed and somewhat frustrated, Rui gets the message and leaves without a word

Finally finishing the god forsaken homework, you stretch your limbs and stood up to finally check what Rui wanted to show you

But when you came to his workshop, he wasn't there

Figuring maybe he was hurt by what you did, and with that you start to panic

You run around and finally saw him, he was alone training his new machine on the wonderstage

You ran up to the stage (rather clumsily and tripping on the way)

He was of course surprised by your sudden appearance but what surprised him more is you suddenly tackling him and muttering 'i'm sorry's

He chuckled, this lifts up his mood from earlier tbh

He remains silent but the hand rubbing on your back speaks for him

With things settled in and no stress is rising, he shows you his new creation as you praise him for doing a great job

Akito Shinonome

You and Akito like play-fight and light-heartedly insult each other

But this time was different though

You forgot Akito was supposed to perform today and you promised to come with

By the time you remembered, the show was already done and Akito is looking for you

It's understandable that he was mad when he saw you with your friends instead

He pulled you aside for a talk, excusing the both of you to leave for a moment

Once you two are alone, things of course escalated and both of you started raising your voice

When you tell him the he shouldn't make a big deal out of this and you'll just come next time, that was it for him and he walked out without another word

Both of you are stubborn to talk things out and it took a day for you to finally face him

Walking in the room, Akito tenses up but didn't bother to look at you and continue what he's doing

He froze when you suddenly hugged him from behind and muttered 'i'm sorry'

He finally relaxes but now he doesn't know how to respond, a part of him wants to apologize back but a part of him wants to be cheeky and act like he's still sulking

He settled with teasing you and you two just started insulting (and maybe flirting) each other

Let's just say things are back to normal, you make it up to him by paying for the stuff he wants for a whole week and you promise to go to his performances

This time, not missing at least one

Toya Aoyagi

Toya was just worried about you, you haven't spent time with him since the end of the last semester

You just got an F on a test once and now you're drowning yourself in your study (perfectionist stuff)

He wants you both to at least spend some time for once this month in the arcade but whenever he asks when you're available, you're always saying when you have time (which is almost never)

He finally confronts you about it and things escalated to the worst case scenario

Of course you instantly regret the things you did but your pride is just too high at the moment

Toya excuses himself and you're there mentally strangling yourself for how immature you handled the situation

You took some time figuring if you should run after him and apologize and finally set on your foot to go speedy towards your love

Finding him in a close by arcade, An, Kohane, and Akito in scattered places playing their own games

You take this time to sneak up to him and apologize, immediately throwing your arms around his shoulders and muttering everything you want to say

You sound so quiet but Toya can hear you clearly and forgives you, hugging you just as tight

An, Kohane, and Akito definitely did not see you guys having your arms clinging like a hook to each other

tsukasa

well, firstly, we have to establish that this boy is a flustered mess. he always felt a bit…funny, around you, as he has explained to his troupemates to his immense confusion. tsukasa just never understood why.

you could smile at him, and he’d melt, then proceed to blush furiously and stammer.

lots of stammering.

tsukasa would probably try to brag to you a lot, always finding a reason to name-drop the current show he’s starring in at phoenix wonderland into any conversation with you.

when you do show up at his shows, i can just see him peeking out into the crowd before the curtain rises, then going red-faced as he sees your face in the crowd.

being around you definitely makes him nervous. tsukasa probably confessed to you by accidentally blurting out his feelings, or slipping up in a sentence and not realizing it until you bring it up. you inspire him, so much. he holds you to the same regard as saki and the other members of wonderlands x showtime. his dream of becoming a star for the world changed slightly after meeting you, for now tsukasa also wants to be a star to make you happy.

he probably has a lot of insecurities about his relationship with you - he’s not sure if he’s doing it right, if you really like him anyways, and oh, what if this happened? or this? paranoid guy. you’re very good at reassuring him and showing him that yes, he is loved.

in turn, tsukasa is always there for you. he is extremely good at reading emotions, and he can always tell when you’re feeling not the best. when that happens, it’s time for operation cheer you up!

he is also very physically affectionate. loves hugging you, kissing you on the cheek, or slipping his hand in yours.

however, if you do the same to him, tsukasa’s face will explode with color.

rui

oh goodness, where does one begin with kamishiro rui.

when rui falls, he falls hard. really hard.

you probably caught his eye very quickly. with a boy like you, how could he not?

however, while he is certainly a romantic type, rui hasn’t really had a lot of crushes before. so, when he came to the realization that he liked you, he was a bit embarrassed by his own emotions.

it started as he was the type to appreciate you from afar. he’d try to engage with you at any chance he got, but he also lived for the few chances where your eyes would lock in a hallway, or he’d notice you in the schoolyard. you would smile at him, and he’d die a little inside.

nene was probably the first to figure out his feelings for you. while she made no drastic measures (being nene), she did encourage rui to maybe try and pursue his feelings.

although he denied at first, eventually it all led up to a rooftop confession. was it from him to you, or you to him? either way, the soft kiss that followed was worth it.

when you began dating, you were always startled and grateful for the small acts of love that rui would do.

a love note in your locker, a flower placed between your books - it was adorable.

being with rui, for you, is almost like being in a romance in an old-fashioned play.
