grand theft otter.
@rkwon
Zoos were pretty shitty. Not only literally speaking, but metaphorically as well. His mother had always hated them, so that's probably why he started to share the opinion. Despite the fact that the entire concept seemed a little cruel, there was no getting around the fact that they were the only place that his best friend could catch a glimpse of his all-time favorite animals.
There was a good chance that Sujin wouldn't have even allowed the boys to attend had Mingyu not promised her that he was only going to scope out the area to check and see just how guarded these cages were. Honestly, there was no chance that he would have the guts to try setting any free, and he knew she wouldn't truly ask him to since she didn't want her son to end up being charged with a crime, but, you know, it's just for the peace of mind.
This was all just another distraction and an enjoyable (hopefully) way to spend time with Won so that he could feel a sense of happiness. He felt in the most with the other boy in his presence, and this was the best way for him to get him to stay another night. "You'd think they'd leave the door open for a little longer, right? It's a good thing we made it in."

* animal instinct
#rknightzoo - ( a starter for @rkseungjun )
there were times in which curiosity got to the best of suji. when she had heard about the night zoo event happening at the seoul zoo, she couldn’t help but want to take part. she didn’t even like the zoo, if she were to be honest. trips as a kid didn’t bring back exactly pleasant memories, and if it were not for the fact that there was something “special” about this, she likely would have passed on going. then again, was it special? she wasn’t sure; she could only speculate that this special public visitation event wouldn’t happen all the time.
but she didn’t want to go alone so she decided to shoot a text to seungjun ( random choice but he also happened to be one of her few non-trainee friends – she had no clue what the trainee schedules would be like and didn’t want to burden them with having to go to the zoo after their long hours ). thankfully, he agreed to go and they decided on a meeting place just past the entrance of the zoo. unfortunately, the crowds were thickening, and she just hoped they didn’t miss each other.

elephant in the fridge
@rkhyungwon
The phone was in Yuta’s hand as he leaned up against the wall outside the zoo entrance. A low glow under his facial features as he typed casually, scrolled over the latest news and liked the latest images of his niece on his sisters Instagram. If they would let in children under seven, he would have brought his niece along with him -- but since he couldn’t, the tall pouting child that was Hyungwon would do as good company. His eyes darted over the time, lifting his head and shifting his weight as he glanced around him. It was easier to meet Hyungwon there and he hoped the other could find him in the crowd.
More than once he twisted around, lifting his phone up to double check the time and see if he had a message he hadn’t seen. The confirmation of the time uttered under his lips. Hyungwon better not have been standing him up. Yuta’s fingers swiped open his messages, clicking on the contact picture that was a stolen photo of Hyungwon asleep on his couch and pressed the piece to his ear. The toes of his sneakers pressed into pavement, scuffing the edges on the ground and looking around him more. “Come on, Hyungwon. Don’t play hard to get,” he muses to himself, listening to it ringing out.

* koala-ty time ,
@rkjennie
chanyeol has never been to the zoo, and now he’s wondering what all the appeal is. the animals are all caged up, and they’re not even allowed to pet them! not to mention, since it’s night time, most of them are asleep and hidden from plain sight! he wishes he were able to ride a lion or elephant or something, but there’s nothing to see but sleeping figures and other humans, which leads him to wonder if they’re zoo specimen to those who are in charge of the event. are they watching and observing their guests like they do their animals?
still, with as much as he has to complain about, it all fades away when he remembers who he’s there with. training has definitely taken away a lot of the time he usually spends with jennie, and as much as he regrets it, he knows that if he even considers giving it up just to spend more time with her that she would personally beat him up until his face was unrecognizable. so he’s glad that he at least has these moments with her, next to her, hearing her laughter and being the cause behind it. (it also makes him realize just how much he misses her, but he’s trying not to focus on that.)
“is there any animal you really want to see sleeping?” he asks, adding the last word on with a bit of sarcasm, though a smile tugs at the corners of his lips. “i really want to see the giraffes! i heard the sleep standing up!”

This year, museums are out of fashion and the night will be spent at the zoo! The Seoul Zoo is known for being the biggest zoo in South Korea and they have decided to open up their gates during the nights of August 13th and 20th for a special public visitation event. Housing over 3,400 individual animals of about 360 different species, some of these animals have a nocturnal nature and are only able to be properly observed by visitors during the evening hours.
The zoo will close at 7pm to prepare for the nighttime visitors and reopen their doors at 8pm. Entry into the zoo will only be permitted for the first ten minutes, until 8:10pm, so as to control the number of visitors and to avoid too much ruckus within the premises. Be careful not to be late! The staff will reinforce the rules of etiquette, and especially the need for silence as many other animals will be asleep during these special hours. By 10pm, the doors will close once more, so prepare to leave before then! Children below the age of 7 will not be permitted and those below the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
For +3 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH, write a four-post thread or a +250 words solo about your character enjoying the night trip to the zoo. Please tag all your post as #rknightzoo and have them up by midnight EST on the end of August 23rd. There is no verification form for this event, so please add the points to your tally sheet after meeting the requirement. Threads may be continued after the deadline, but after August 23rd points can no longer be collected.

nyctophobia
@rkjihun
It was childish. Seungjun knew that.
Nonetheless, he couldn’t stop the palpitations of his heart, glancing over his shoulder and back ahead of them. Fun. Zoo’s were supposed to be fun. They were supposed to be full of cute little animals that he wanted to pat and keep. But he’d watched that horror movie two nights ago, the one with the girl throwing rocks and the ghost in the forest, and lots of screaming -- mostly his own. There was childrens laughter echoing ominously from the distant, cackles and chortles and the scuttle of rocks. Seungjun’s hand reaching blinding, clutching onto the warm one next to his and squeezing the fingers. Jihun’s hand. It was soft. A boy of inside and delicate hobbies. Something he’d teased him about once when they were drunk; Seungjun had thought it was cute.
Now they were the only thing keeping him from running away into the zoo and accidentally into the lions cage. If anything, Jihun was lucky that Seungjun didn’t jump into his arms when the small child came running out of no where. His shoulder bumping into Jihun’s roughly when he jumped, leaning into the other and watching the boy be chased by his father; desperate and apologetic. The twenty-three year old’s empty hand, curled into the front of his shirt and his bottom lip jutted out in a pathetic display. “Can we move now? I’ve seen then--” His eyes darted along the length of the cage in search of what animal they were looking at. “What are we looking at?”

A Bear, Her Wife, & A Zoo || Seulgi & Wendy
@rkwendy
There were very few opportunities for Seulgi and Wendy to meet up recently it seemed, both were trainees at different companies and their schedules lately hadn’t seemed to match up to see each other in Seocho. This, of course, was a disappointing series of events for Seulgi who missed her “wife” quite a lot and it really wanted to catch up with her.
It took some convincing, as Wendy was apprehensive about the animals, but Seulgi promised her husband would take great care of her and keep her safe, and the two finally made plans to meet up at the zoo for their special nighttime event. Standing outside and finally spotting her, Seulgi jumped up and down, waving her hands “Ah! Wendy! Over here!” The excitement to see her best friend was obvious as Seulgi was grinning ear to ear, her arms open wide for a non-debatable hug once the other came over.

owls
( @rkohsehun )
the night zoo, filled with all sorts of beautiful, exotic animals. she's not supposed to be here today but somehow, she decides to tag along because sehun begged her to do so. she could've been studying all day but she doesn't flake out on her words, keeping her promise to her lover. "why are we here again in the first place?" she rolls her eyes, arms crossed in utter annoyance. she doesn't love the arouma of animal shit, for sure.
"didn't you come here to see owls? do you think they have any in here?" a brow cocks up, looking at sehun briefly before pulling away to look back on the path that they had been walking on for the past five minutes. this isn't enjoyable, but it's bearable. two different meanings yet so vague because at any moment, she could be having the biggest smile on her face ( because she’s happy inside, just not showing it ).
“don’t you think some people from the seocho building better belong in a cage than let out?” she’s out here, making snarky comments but what’s new? nothing.

.all cats are grey by night
@rksoohyun
Even though they were both Royal trainees, it was pretty rare for them to see each other within the company building. Nonetheless a bond of friends connected them. Soohyun, or Soo like Kang Joon liked to call her because it sounded so much cuter, was like a little sister to him. Royal's fairy he supposed. That probably was one of the reason they barely saw each other during training sessions since she was young, fresh and talented after all. The possibilites were wide for her, while Kang Joon was rather limited when it came to his skills. This time around he kind of thought of the little one because of a event he heard of during training.
The last time he had been to the zoo was already years ago, when his grandmother was healthier and somehow had been able to save money from the little income she made through her sewing work. Through the eyes of a child, a child with lost parents and full of sadness and sorrow, it had been one of the best days ever. Since then they have never returned, especially after he had seen the immense price they had to pay. They were poor and food and education was way more important than watching animals sleeping. And still Kang Joon appreciated the good heart of his grandmother to wish him to have a good childhood despite all hardships.
As he finally decided to ask little Soo, since they hadn't seen each other in a long, he called her up, tipping his fingers on the table. When his call got through, he immediately started to smile, maybe out of reflex or out of habit since little Soo always brightened up his mood. "Ah, hey Soo. It's me, Joon oppa. How are you doing?" He paused and listened to her reply before continuing. "Well, did you hear about the night tours of the Seoul Zoo? I still need someone to go with me, so it won’t look too awkward for a grown man to go watching sleeping animals. Are you interested?"

★ — night at the zoo ;
she hated zoos. her grandfather had never been very fond of them, waving them off as being nothing more than prisons; bright, lively prisons—but prisons all the same. normally, she would have ignored the opportunity to visit the zoo in the nighttime, especially considering the fact that she hardly saw the appeal in visiting during the day. junyeong, however, had not been as eager to let it pass by so easily. he claimed that it would be a nice experience for the both of them, though dawon believed that at least half of his statement (perhaps more) was extremely exaggerated.
“i’m only here because i love you,” she whispered in a hushed tone, praying that she wouldn’t be overheard. most people seemed to love the zoo, for whatever reason, and dawon held no intention to get on their bad side. not to mention the fact that they were asked not to frighten the animals, during their attempts to rest or otherwise, and dawon was more than happy to oblige. the animals deserved to live peacefully, after all; it’d be rather cruel to jeopardize that.
“really? the animals didn’t appeal to you at all?” the boy questioned, a hint of genuine surprise in his tone. “well damn. i’m glad that you care. i do think that you’ll have more fun than you expect, though.” he glanced around them, readjusting his glasses before attempting to get a better view of an enclosure just ahead of them. “just give it a bit of time, alright? even if you don’t like the zoo, you’ll at least have fun hanging out with me.”
“that’s true.” he definitely made a good point. junyeong was her best friend, the one person she could always count on; it was only fair that she should dedicate one evening to doing something that he’s bound to enjoy. “so long as you’re having fun, that’s all that matters.” truthfully, she’d suffer any level of dissatisfaction so long as it meant that junyeong was having a good time. even now, several years later, she still felt like she owed him everything.
“thank you, dawon.” there’s genuine sincerity in his voice, despite the fact that dawon felt that there was no thanks necessary. she was going outside of her comfort zone, sure; but it was for a good cause, and she’d do it again in a heartbeat. “it really does mean a lot that you’d do this, all things considering. you have a lot on your mind this month, do you not?”
“i do,” she replied softly, rubbing the back of her neck out of habit. there was so much to think about, so much to do; dawon has so many big choices to make, yet it seemed as though her time was quickly slipping through her fingers. “but i can handle it.”
“mm, i don’t doubt it. but i do believe our definitions of ‘handling it’ are diametrically opposed, so don’t think you’re going to make any life-changing decisions without me.” despite the laughter that followed, once again, he had a point. dawon always did have a bad habit of hastily making big decisions without going to her cousin for advice, and, more often than not, they always seemed to take a toll on her.
“okay, that’s fair. i’ve earned that much.”
“that’s right. now, mind if we move somewhere else? this area smells... unpleasant.”

Zoology Section || Sejeong & Luda
Sejeong was obviously excited as the two young women made their way through the gates to enter the nighttime zoo exhibit to be able to see some of the zoo’s more nocturnal residents. She had stopped at the library on the way there to pick up Luda, hoping her friend would have just as much of a good time as she was thinking it would be. Learning was something she loved to do and she loved animals, so why not? The pamphlets for the event had been on display at the library the last time she went in, so she was glad Luda had agreed to come.
“What kinds of things do you think we’ll see? Do you think they’ll have any of those giant bats? The flying fox things?” she wondered out loud to her companion as she looked over the crowd, standing on her tiptoes as she did to see if she could get a sneak peek before heading into the zoo more. “They’d be really fun to see, don’t you think?”

☓ ┋ LIONSONG
@rkjihun
taeyong’s glad to get a good deep breath of some night air. he feels like he’s been cooped up in training studio after training studio for more than twenty four hours, like he’s been staring at himself in mirrors for too long. when he closes his eyes, he sees his own reflection on the insides of his eyelids, and when there’s silence that surrounds him, he can imagine some senior artists’ tracks playing in the recesses of his mind.
zoos are always a fun time. taeyong, being the animal enthusiast that he truly is, really gets invested in observing the various exhibits that litter across the premises. he would say his favorite exhibit is the lions -- so majestic and beautiful, gentle even. he knows that they’re powerful and strong as well, a duality that taeyong really is somewhat obsessed with.
he’s distracted by a tug at the hem of his shirt, and he looks down to see a small child with big, glossy eyes. he crouches down to the child’s level, a soft smile on his face. “hey there, lil one. where’s your parents, hm? are you lost?”

the mighty jungle.
@kihyunrk
"Did you know this is my first time ever coming to a zoo?" He paused, chewing on his lower lip for a moment as he tried to think back on all of his past memories. "Well, from what I can remember. What kind of animals are at zoos, anyway? What am I even in for? Are there raccoons? Squirrels? Any fish? Do you think they have mermaids here?"
The blond ponders his own question for several seconds before letting out a quiet scoff and shaking his head. "Nah. Probably not, right?" He stopped speaking for several more seconds, only to soon add on, "They need lots of room to swim. Kind of hard to build them a home in a place like this. Once, back in Busan, I thought we had one living in the local water tower. But, turned out it was just some homeless guy that went up there for refuge."
Maybe he had rambled enough. Now that they were inside, he should really find out what his friend wants to do first. "So... where to?" Part of him knew Kihyun would likely be just as lost as he was, at least at this particular location since they're both still fairly new to the area.

what can i do?
@rkshua
august 13th, zoo date
it was late, but jihoon had everything planned for this sunday night. he walked back to his place with seungcheol, took a shower, changed and headed out in the little time he had. he promised joshua they’d go together to the zoo, especially because it would be quiet, cool and he’d get to enjoy some time with the other.
that’s how the two ended up walking around the zoo, and it was weird. he the blonde was holding onto joshua’s sleeve, just to make sure a) he didn’t loose the other, and b) josh didn’t loose him, because with his height, that wouldn’t be easy.
“where do you want to go now? as in, which animal?“ jihoon asked, looking up at the other for an answer. he was definitely going out to eat with josh eventually, otherwise, he was sure his stomach would actually wake up the animals.

:// zootopia w/ dahye&&seoyoung
as much as shiah loved training 24/7 and practically dying all the time, getting out of the royal building and having a little fun was great and loved by shiah too. to be quite honest she needed to get away from training for a bit. she loved it but she was starting to get a little sick of it, especially with how hectic everything was getting over that show royal was doing to select their new girl group. she just had to get away from the crazy and relax.
of course shiah had dragged dahye along too, the woman rapidly becoming her best friend. their idea of fun was usually a bar and some alcohol, loud music, and not remembering anything the next morning, but they had made a pact to swear such things off. with the crazy hours they had for training it didn’t leave much to do afterwards that wasn’t associated with the kryptonite that was the nightlife for them, but when shiah had heard about the nocturnal exhibit at the zoo and their late hours she had grabbed dahye and marched right out the front door of the royal building to go relax and have a little fun.
along the way they had run into seoyoung, another trainee at royal. shiah didn’t know her very well, they hadn’t worked together for any performances or evaluations really, they had just been co-existing under the royal roof. this seemed like the perfect opportunity to get to know her though, and so shiah had also dragged her along as well. now, waiting in line at the zoo to get in and see their fluffy nocturnal animals, shiah turned excitedly to the other two girls, bouncing a bit in place. “are you guys excited? i can’t wait to see them! i bet they’re all really cute.”
