So, a friend of mine decided to pick up RLCraft, (that nuts Minecrsft modpack where everything wants to kill you), but as some of yall might know, it has a bit of a learning curve.

I decided to make a visual guide for beginners! Hopefully this helps at least someone out there!

I’m sorry I keep accidentally not posting anywhere except Instagram lmao. I think it’s been like a year since my last post, so here’s something new - just a dumb drawing inspired by my recent play through of rlcraft :)

RLcraft is composed of many mods. One of these mods, lycanites mobs, adds a whole lot of creatures.

The specific mobs im gonna be talking about is the lurker, jouste and krake.

All of these have one thing in common, they are all from this little game called oddworld.

The jouste:

In oddworld they are called scrabs

These have almost the same design as well as having the same sound effects. Now the key differences is:

that scrabs can only be seen with red skin unlike the jouste from lycanites mobs

Scrabs are incredibly territorial and will kill anyone who comes near, even other scrabs.

Scrabs live alone unlike the joustes who are seen in groups with an alpha

The lurker

In oddworld they are called paramites. They basically have the same design as well as having the same sound effects

The key differences are:

Paramites are only hostile in groups. If alone they will lead creatures to their pack in a sort of ambush. If the creature itself retreats the paramite will follow at a distance. If they are completely alone and cornered they will warn whatever creature has cornered them before attacking. They wont attack when alone basically

Paramites have their own language

The krake

In oddworld they are called meech

The key differences are

Meech are extinct due to a company called rupture farms hunting them all down to make meech munchies.

They are never seen in game, thus have no sound effects

Not much else is known

And thats about it :)

Of course these creatures are much more complex as the world of oddworld goes way beyond the games themselves. I highly recommend checking the games, though the first 2 are from the late 90s and only runs on systems that can read ps1 discs, alternatively you can buy them on steam

I do not recommend Oddworld: abe's oddysee, the first in the series, on steam though as its incredibly sloppy and has infuriating and delayed controls, get the ps1 version instead or play new'n'tasty which is a remake, though a pretty bad one that doesnt compare to the grim nature of the original.

Me: Wow, having a chicken farm is so helpful in RLCraft! The fact that they just shed feathers gives me so many arrows, and I can cook the eggs! I should enclose the pen from all angles eventually, but they'll be fine as long as I keep sleeping through the nights-

Something Evan/Gregory absolutely would 100% use on his older brother to prank him:

He invites Glamrock Freddy/Michael to play RL craft, tricking him into thinking it’s regular old Minecraft on the easiest difficulty.

Then the boy watches his older brother die in the game, again and again and again, getting one shot, laughing all the while at his misery and comforting him, offering to join the server with Michael on another device just to accompany him in multiplayer and help him through his suffering and frustration. Eventually they decide to stream themselves raging at the game and laughing out tears, chatting over Discord voice channels.

They sometimes speak Arabic to each other as well, with Michael/Glamrock Freddy having it be practically a second language and Evan/Gregory being noticeably fluent with Elizabeth having moderate knowledge (the Afton children are all mixed in my AU: whilst being primarily British American, they’re also of prominent Egyptian/Arab AND British/English heritage on William’s side and German/Scandinavian on their mother Eleanor’s side).

They welcome all the other Arabic speakers in chat warmly as well, and eventually Vanessa joins the server. They all suffer together as siblings :)!

Rlcraft/lycanites fun fact: the vespids (forgot name but pretty sure its something like) activitley build their hives. They are not a generated structure and they are not fixed. They will grow.

fml, my first hardcore run in RLCraft that is going well and i spot not 1, but 2 dragons flying around in the horizon from town i thought i could settle down in. I just know i am going to get fucked by a dragon, but in the figurative, not fun kind of way.

Been playing RLCraft. I dug myself a small quarry but couldn't light it up initially due to my lack of resources. Later I came home after getting my shit kicked and there was a Skeleton with a boss health bar just chilling at the bottom, so I just blocked the entrance with gravel until it despawned
