i love how their roles/personalities are swapped even before the incident, Dream being the calm bookworm and Nightmare being the louder and more active one (but in a assholeish way because he is negativity after all)

The fact that Dream and Nightmare in Dreamswap didn’t really have their own unique designs “pre-incident” (aside from Nightmare having a scarf thing and rolled up sleeves basically) randomly started to bug me. I was like, why not give them their own designs for a distinction?

Actually, these two definitely have an array of outfits, but here’s at least one thing that I took time to design.

FUN FACTS!

❖ To put it simply, Dream is the calm and responsible one, while Nightmare is the sly outcast. Dream is popular throughout the town and is known for being kind and charitable, while Nightmare isn’t well liked for being kind of an asshole who likes causing trouble.

❖ They are not brothers by biological relation or legal adoption. They are referred to as brothers on occasion, but this is only an arbitrary title. Because those two served as the “polar opposite” guardians of the tree of feelings, townsfolk assumed that they were brothers and the two of them formed habits of calling themselves that out of irony. Nowadays Nightmare hates calling Dream his brother, but Dream still does it by accident sometimes and some people believe they are brothers because of it.

❖ Dream is pretty much 80% done with Nightmare’s bullshit. Nightmare likes pushing his buttons and isn’t very good at being empathetic and this often results in them fighting. However, Dream’s frustration with Nightmare was not the reason he decided to eat the apples and turn on him–he wanted to be forgiving and believe that Nightmare could change, but as he convinced himself that Nightmare’s existence as a negative spirit had a negative effect on the multiverse, he ended up betraying him.

❖ Dream’s past-times include reading, looking for people who need help and basically spending all of his time doing that, cooking, cleaning and organizing things. Whenever he’s not being “totally lame”, he’s studying and teaching himself new things… which technically falls under reading.

❖ As for Nightmare, whenever he’s not causing trouble because he can, he practices the violin, tends to create completely random things which he mass-decorates with, writes his own stories (which he hides under his bed), and parkours and climbs trees like an idiot. He’s more of a slacker, but will still do things to take care of the house when prompted.

❖ The two of them are the same height (5′5), but when you compare someone with perfect posture to someone who spends all his time slumping over, there appears to be something of a difference.

❖ They have a small, one-story house near the tree with two rooms, a washroom and a closet. Nightmare and Dream share a room with separate beds and have separate sides of the room. Nightmare’s side is more cluttered and over-decorated, while Dream’s is more of just a whole lot of potted plants.

Common things in DID that no one likes to talk about

- switches that feel like you’re turning into someone else rather than them taking control (non-possessive switching)

- being unable to recognize amnesia until something requires you to remember something you forgot

- staying in the front for weeks at a time

- being unable to communicate with alters internally (this is so common why does everyone act like this is weird?)

- feeling like you don’t have any problems because you feel disconnected from them

- constant denial

- rapid identity, label, and appearance changes

- comorbidities, particularly personality disorders, anxiety disorders, and the schizophrenia spectrum

- autism (there is science pointing towards autistic people being more susceptible to trauma)

- disliking your system

- wanting final fusion

Now that the illymation "drama" is over can we all conclude that it was basically just a grown man crying about a video where Illy talked about her experience being bullied for her weight and how she overcame that, cutting context to make it seem bad and accusing Illy of sending children into an early grave? And then said grown man crying even more when Illy wanted said video taken down and framing it like she wanted to delete his channel and deplatform him?

Illy faced massive amounts of harassment and even got doxxed. She actually lost 1000s of dollars because she had to move before her lease was up while TBYS just kept making videos, but Illy was the big bad bully?

Hey! Sorry to butt in but I saw your post from like a year ago “I just love how one of my dads transphobic arguments were "your brain is still the gender you were born", essentially acknowledging that gender is not only your chromosomes, and still completely disregards that there can be a mismatch between your body and whats in your head.“ and wanted to inform you that when you do check the brains of trans people their brains are like the gender they identify as. Trans womens brains look like a cis woman’s and so forth.

I am aware of that, that's kinda what the post was about. If those studies are to be believed (there has been quite a bit of criticism and disputes around it and I'm no scientist nor have I done enough research so I won't take either as fact at the moment) then that means my brain is more aligned to a male brain as I am transmasc. My dad claims that even if I were to change everything about my body that my brain would still be female, indirectly acknowledging that there's something in your brain that relates to your gender which kind of ruins his previous argument that gender is entirely what your chromosomes are. That post was about my dad just straight up yelling nonsensical transphobic bullshit at me, not only contradicting himself but being a conspiracy theorist about it (very antisemetic stuff)

Whatever the case may be though, trans people are and will always be valid regardless.
