So I was trying to make a robot dreams animation with this song but I'm so slow that I haven't even finished it. For the moment take this.

I love that every single one of the nominees for Best Animated Picture is a huge f u to Disney.

There's Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse, a movie that completely rejects the hyper-realistic animation style Disney has been using lately, and instead goes for a very stylized, inovative style that makes it incredibly appealing to audiences.

There's The Boy and the Heron, a Studio Ghibli movie that shows how beautiful traditional animation still is.

There's Robot Dreams, a traditionally animated Spanish/French movie with no dialogue that made around 500000 US dollars at the box office.

There's Elemental, which can technically be considered a Disney movie, but is really a Pixar movie.

And, of course, there's Nimona, the biggest f u of them all. A movie that Disney scrapped when they closed Blue Sky Studios. A movie that was later picked up by Annapurna Pictures and Netflix and was very successful and beloved by audiences and critics alike.

And where's Disney's super special 100th anniversary movie Wish? Nowhere to be seen. Not a single nomination.

I know it's petty of me, but I find this incredibly satisfying.

Sorry for not including Boy & the Heron rep. Those ghibli characters are difficult to draw. Still wanna see it someday.

Found Family. Nimona wanted a friend, found a boss, and ended up with a dad.

Even though this movie didn't win the Oscar's, it's definitely still one of the best animated movies of all time (this is not my opinion this is a fact). The reason I love this movie so much is because it has paved the way for animated movies to come, for them to have more positive queer representation in kids media.

This movie deserves more recognition than it currently has. Thank you team Nimona for making one of my favourite movies of all time.

So happy Robot Dreams is nominated for the Oscar! When you get the chance to see it, I encourage you to do it. I really enjoyed this film!💕

Look like Boy and The Heron took the W tonight, which I apparently found out that this is the 2nd time Miyazaki won an Academy Award so that's really surprising to me!

Truth to be told, I wasn't really sure if ATSV could've won it. If it did, that would've made it 2 for 2.

Robot Dreams definitely seemed like the Wild Card nomination out of the entire category. Still hope that I get to see it soon.

Now if Nimona had won it, it would be a huge book-end for the crazy journey that movie had gone through. From almost being shelved to completely being beloved by all, especially the LGBT+ community.

A part of me was kind of glad that Elemental didn't win tonight. It's less to do with movie itself--since I liked it--and more to do with it sparing itself from the backlash. In a way, it's kind of like that episode of King of the Hill where Hank and Lady Bird enter in the dog contest. They may have done something simple and didn't win a single award during the season, but they still go home happy.

And I think that analogy applies to all the other nominations.

They still manage to do something very special, with or without the trophy.

As someone who just watched Robot Dreams,

Watch Robot Dreams.

It's not going to be an easy watch, specially if you're having/had a hard time moving on from someone/making friends.

I was told this movie was about learning to be alone, my (personal) read it's that it's about learning to move on, it's message will probably stick with me for even longer than 'September'.

So thank you Disney, for making a 100th Anniversary Musical Movie so bad the Oscars had to scramble all over the world to find this little gem that didn't even need dialogue to get it's message across💎💜🥰
