First half marathon of the year is in the books. The #citrusheritagerun2019 had cool weather and a fun medal. It’s always fun to complete a race and spend time with friends. #halffanatics #inknburnambassador #procompressionambassador - [ ] #runforthebling #blacksheeprun #medalista #itsmyracemypace #hashtagoverload #inspiringwomenrunners #rocknblog #instarunner #bibchat #runchat #crockpotrunne #mybestlife #keepittight #inspiringwomenrunners (at Riverside, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsRsK3FApr-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=zz842ucdkkov

Being myself again.
I remember when I was younger. I was arrogant. I do things different than a lot of people. I never liked following the trend. Then I fell with the trend. About two years ago. I left my home. I left the Bay Area. There were things that needed to change and I changed it. Two years later, somehow, magically I'm back at home. It's like a college experience. I met some friends, I met some new people that changed my life. I love you all. Then there is now. I find myself being single. Back in the Bay Area and looking for a different job. Two years ago when I started with Wells Fargo, I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. To now.... I keep saying I'm going into AA, but that's not the case. I plan on disappearing for 6 weeks. I am leaving everything behind so I can pass these exams. It's a life changing thing. This was the opportunity that I needed and wanted. Then, a bulb just turned on in my head. What made me special at the theater was my willingness to work. I never wanted to slow down. Charge charge charge 24/7. Then at Wells, it was about being me, taking ownership. But, what's the word that I use all the time? Swag. There's probably not a lot of people out there with similar background as me. I am different. My life is built on a different background than a lot of you. So here's what I'm saying. I'm Back. And with the said. I'm ready to really commit for 6 weeks. Watch me.

When it is windy as fuck and real feel -11 degrees out, you channel your #StrokeHeroes strength & push through 15 tough miles. Honored to be a part of @tedysteam & helping to #FightStroke. My hip/knee were not on board for the 18 miles I planned on, but I celebrate what my body was able to do. 37 days until the @Boston marathon & my 12th marathon (4th Boston with #TedysTeam). Train smart my friends. It's taken me a long time to listen to my body!! #buildit #runlikeagirl #rocknblog #rundisney #weightwatchers #rundisney #marathontraining #halfironmantraining #finishstronger #procompressionambassador #momentum #sparklysoulambassador @heartbreakrunco @coachdanbos #womensrunning

There are so many things beyond our control; don't let any of it bring you down. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Rather, let's focus on the things we can control like how we respond (not react) to said uncontrollable situations. 📷: @bcbalvares #wearemore #betterforit . #bbgcommunity #RG30Daysoffitness #nikeplus #bbg #running #blogilates #fitness #alalaallday #toneitup #fnlstyle #tiugirl #instarunners #finishline #thesweatlifela #stylerunner #missbish #tiu #tiucommunity #werunsocial #finishlinewomen #fitgirls #bbgirls #iamwellandgood #fitbish #rocknblog

The biggest motivation for getting my run in today was my little one. I ran to the park so she could play and then ran back. ••••• •••• I’m trying to do easy runs and pace runs. I’m trying to learn, but today wasn’t on target. My run should have been much slower, especially when running with the stroller.•••• ••••• It’s a learning process even for a veteran runner. I hope everyone got a chance to get outside today to enjoy the beautiful weather. • • • #thesemotherscanrun #webeatfat #sweatpink #motherrunner #igrunners #runnerscommunity #runnerscommunity #nuunlife #hshive #runhundredambassadors #hokaoneone #blackgirlsrun #strollerrun #strollermiles #momsrunthistown #womensrunning #womensrunningcommunity #halfmarathontraining #rocknblog

My darkest 3 years - #ThrowbackThursday
April 13th, 2001. I was graduating high school and knowing I wanted to go to a community college. I picked up a job at a movie theater at Bayfair Mall. I was part of the opening crew as an employee for Century Theatres. I can never say I was the smartest worker, but I work the hardest. I went from employee to assistant manager in seven months, house manager in another year and half, then assistant general manager in four months. Three years at Bayfair then I went onto managing my own theater. Then there was Fremont, the old Cinedome East 8, I learned how to be a manager. I got to understand this job is about customers, but your utmost importance is your staff. You take care of your staff and they will take care of you. I was strict but employees and managers knew my reasons to do so. Then there was a buyout from Cinemark and I was so scared that I ran back to Union City, to become an assistant general manager again, but this time, the busiest location in United States. Then came an opportunity, my darkest three years.... First, let me elaborate, if there are any Cinemark people reading this. This is not a disrespect to you, and please do not be offended. A lot of the decision was MY decision and timing. You will hear more "I" then "Cinemark", guarantee. In my mid 20s, I decided to apply and actually received one of the toughest assignments you can have for movie theaters. I applied for what turned out to be "Century at Hayward". It was a 12 screen downtown location, so easy, it shouldn't have any problems, right? Mind you this was a time in between a transition time with both companies, nothing was set in stone and there were different philosophies involved. Products as a "Century" person would not understand but the corporate of "Cinemark" would be familiar to. Let's put it this way, there was supposed to be a game room, but somehow designs forgot about stock room, so they took down the game room for a stock room. At the time I was in a serious relationship, my girlfriend was attending school in Rancho Cordova area and I really wanted to spend all my time with her, but I couldn't. The responsibility was far and too great to bear. I started not only distancing myself from my friends, but also family and of course, my relationship. In between the film age and the digital age, apparently the Hayward location missed the digital roll out by months, not only did we not receive digital projection, but we were using used equipment that was left over, the projection booth was full of issues. Within the first couple of months, the City of Hayward put blame on ME, not Cinemark in regards to the break ins in the parking lot, the lack of safety and the movie choices and selection for the crowd. Now, let me tell you, I was attending city meetings, and instead of talking about the city, it turns out to be a meeting when I was informed of my location and how the public sees us. One meeting, it was pretty much a Q&A for me that lasted over 90 minutes. The citizens of City of Hayward also put the blame of the lack of foot traffic to the theater, well, someone to blame. Again, I think the timing was just off. The city never knew how to handle a downtown location. In an economic downturn, how do you expect small businesses to open? And being the General Manager, who's else is there to blame? The saddest part of all was the economic downturn also effected my income. Let's not elaborate, but let's just say I made less and less per year. I will always love Hayward because it was a theater of a marriage between two great companies, but when they say "things gets lost in the shuffle", well I'm right there. There were a couple of city councilmen that encouraged me and told me to never back down from a challenge. I have not since then, I even went to Sacramento for a career change, you can't be more race than that. I met new friends, I met new co-workers and I met many people that helped me springboard into the next venture, which I consider my next assignment at Century at Pacific Commons a success. I regret losing sight on my family and girlfriend. Some things have gotten better since. Some are, well, done. I'm at no point pissed off. I went back the other day as a paying customer and man, I have to admit, I miss that location. Businesses are open now and I'm sure digital projection has things looking good. I miss being a general manager but I can honestly say, those three years were my darkest days, ever. But then the next couple years at Fremont made me be who I am again. I am indeed a person that cares for my employees and not afraid to butt heads with my manager because end of the day, it is about the good of the company and the good for the customers. A friend recently said to me, writing is therapeutic. I finally know how to let it go..... So then I escaped to Sacramento and it's been two years. Bay Area, I missed you so, your boy is ready to come back for the next chapter in his life. Time to look for a future.
