Synopsis : Kim Sa Bu once gained fame as a top surgeon at a huge hospital. 73. Dr. Romantic (S1+S2)

Two whole seasons so I have alot to say about this show. I decided to watch it after seeing a clip on Netflix, it was a clip with Ahn Hyo-seop and Lee Sung-kyung. And I heard that it had been renewed for a 3rd season, so it had to be good, right?

To my surprise when I started the show these actors were no where to be seen 😞 The clip was from the 2nd season. I seriously considered quitting this show because all the characters irritated me in the beginning, all the doctors were constantly screaming at each other!

It took me a long time to warm up to Kim Sa-bu.

But I stuck it out and eventually they chilled out and started to grow on me. I grew to love the Doldam family and was invested in the patients as well.

Some of the medical cases were really interesting and a little over the top (think Grey's Anatomy) but it kept things interesting while we waited for the relationships to develop.

I enjoyed the second season much more than the first as there were many returning characters that I was already familiar with. I liked the relationship between Eun-jae and Woo-jin right from the start.

One plot I didn't like was the staff from the main hospital meddling at Doldam. And it's present in both seasons. I wish they focused more on the staff and patients at Doldam and just left that storyline out. And I would have loved more romance between the leads in both seasons.

Special mention for Mr Gu. He was my favourite character 😂

I will definitely be watching the 3rd season when it is released.

I would recommend this if you like medical dramas. Don't be fooled by the title, the romance is limited.

THIS IS THE BEST SCENE E V E R, OMG, THE WAY THEY ENTER THE HOSPITAL IS JUST 👌👌👌

I just wish they had included nurse Park in the scene as well, he really deserved to be there. He was a part of the team as well!! (No, guys, this has nothing to do with the fact that I absolutely love Min-Jae).

Also: I know this is my second time watching this drama, but seriously, I LOVE IT. I’m recommending it to EVERYONE, it’s a freaking must-watch. If I were to make a top 5 with the best kdramas I’ve ever watched, I’m telling you, this one would probably be # 1.

I recently finished watching this and felt the need to immediately write a review because it was sooo good!! This is SBS’ Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim. It is about a genius surgeon with a flair for romance and a scarred past moving two struggling doctors away from the operating table manual and teaches them the true value of saving a life, according to dramafever.

Will I recommend? 110% YEEES!! It was the best medical drama I’ve watched, and it fulfilled its aim to be as realistic as possible. Now, I understand the ‘annoying orange light’ people wrote in the comments (HAHA). I love love love the chemistry of the actors and actresses. It was just absolutely perfect! And don’t get me started on Kang Dong Joo and Yoon Seo Jung. They portrayed their roles really good and those romantic scenes, my heart!!

The thing I love the most about this drama is Master Kim(Teacher Kim) and his teachings/ideals. It is so applicable in real life because often people get swayed at the sight of money that they forget their values. He was swayed but he changed and chose a new life. He now cares for saving his patients, and doesn’t care about the people and rules that disagree with him because at the end of the day, if the patient is in danger, the doctor should do everything he can to save his patient. I just love the lessons this drama has taught me! Kang Dong Joo and Do In Beom’s character matured and I love it! Oh, the ‘love triangle’ between Dr. Woo, Dr. Do and Mr. Park is so freaking cute! Damn, my heART! This drama is just amazing!

I’m honestly going to miss this drama. It’s the perfect mix of fun and serious. I’m going to miss the Doldam Hospital Team! I’m going to miss Master Kim, Dong Joo, In Beom, Seo Jung, Ms. Oh, Dr. Woo, Dr. Nam, Mr. Park, Manager Jang, and President Yeo. Oh, let’s add Dr. Song and Dr. Jung as well because their roles were fun as well. I almost forgot about Chairman Shin and his assistant; I love their trust and loyalty for Kim Sa Bu!

If you’re hesitating to watch, please watch because it’s good for your heart and emotions. I hope it makes you laugh, cry and feel entertained as it has done to me. So, go watch it!

Romantic Doctor Kim is a 2016 South Korean romance, melodrama and medical tv show starring Han Seok Kyu, Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin.

Synopsis:

Boo Yong Joo was once a famous surgeon at the peek of his career and worked at a major hospital. People would refer to him as the “Hand of God”, since his skills were outstanding. But one day he gives it all up, changes his name to Master Kim and starts working as a neighborhood doctor at a small branch hospital named Doldam.  Kang Dong Joo became a doctor in order to make something out of himself and works hard to achieve the success and recognition he desperately wants. Yoo Seo Jung is a passionate young surgeon, who tries to get over a mistake she made in her past.  When Dong Joo and Seo Jung meet Master Kim, their lives and careers change irrevocably.

My Opinion:

This drama was soooo good. Seriously! I’ve seen a couple of medical dramas before and I liked them as well, but this was one was by far the best. I’ve never thought before that I would like medical dramas one day, but this drama turned this genre finally into one of my favorites. 

To describe and mention concrete reasons of why I enjoyed this drama so much is really hard for me to do. Especially because I hated two of the main characters, Master Kim and Yoo Seo Jung, for a very long time. Especially Master Kim was way too cocky for me to handle and I just wasn't able to grow fond of them. The only one I was able to sympathize with from the very beginning was Kang Dong Joo. Although he seemed like an arrogant character as well, I was always able to understand where he was coming from and why he was acting the way he was.  But after some time has passed, I was also able to like Yoo Seo Jung and Master Kim. I just needed a bit more time to understand their characters. Especially Master Kim turned out to be a super inspirational, funny and sarcastic person. I really liked, how every character developed throughout the show. Not only the main, but the supporting characters as well. It’s a thing that doesn't happen really often.

Every episode was filled with tension and was extremely gripping. This is one of those shows, where one hour passes by like nothing. I have really no idea of medicine, but this show is really understandable. Especially the surgery scenes were super exciting.

Looking at the title, I definitely expected something completely different and was surprised in a very positive way. We have a romantic storyline and it is very sweet and makes you want to see more of it, but on the other hand, this show doesn't has its main focus on it. Still it was super satisfying. Their chemistry was on point.

To sum up, this is a show that will surprise you. Looking at the synopsis and the title, I didn't expected something this great and was super happy that this show exceeded my expectations. I will definitely watch it again one day.

The first kiss between the leads in romantic doctor season 1 is still on my top 10 kisses from kdramas lol. I can even remember how I screamed when I watched it for the first time and went to tell my mom all about it because I didn't have to wait that long for it 😂
