Few legends we hear of are true.

In fact some of the finer details of the event that happened on this day in 1703 were lost as its was not permitted to be written about and only spoken of in hushed tones.

In order to avenge the death of Asano Naganori, by the actions of Kira Yishinaka. Forty seven samurai, no longer with a master and branded Ronin, formed a plan to set right the death lead by Oishi.

None of the Ronin came to harm in the storming of the castle but over forty of Kiras men were killed or injured.

In February of the same year, as punishment for their actions, however honorable, they would be allowed a warriors death by Seppuku. All except one, to continue the bloodline of great warriors.

Some official documents still survive of the incident and a shrine exists with the graves.

Warriors and honour should never be forgotten.

Awww! Venus has such a cutie pie for a brother! What’s their relationship like?

Momotaro is a cautious and anxious raccoon kid, Leo and Usagi found him mutated by Kraang mutagen in New York alone. So he’s a bit afraid of everything, especially weapons and blades since Kraang soldiers are made of metal and blades. Which is a bit of a problem in a house with a ronin and a ninja. Momotaro and Venus get along really well, Venus is kinda of a bossy older sister but it’s only out of protectiveness for Momotaro.

While Leo was really excited to train him as a ninja “He was born with a ninja mask!” But for now Momotaro is content to be like his grandpa and be more of an artist.

Eventually Momotaro will come around to being trained in martial arts and weaponry. He will be more like a samurai or ronin like Usagi and together they’ll be a good team that will argue about what constitutes as “honorable battle tactics”. Thank you for finding my design cute!

Okay, so, I don’t know how but I’m not seeing a lot of discussion about gender and gender identity when talking about Blue Eyed samurai. Like, the main character, Mizu, is shown to have an AFAB body early on in the show, and the immediate thought is “oh, they probably hide this just due to the historical situation, like mulan. She’s just hiding the truth of her womanhood so she can have more freedom” but then as the show goes on there are scenes and themes that heavily hint to mizu not seeing themselves as just a woman or a man (btw big spoilers for Blue Eyed Samurai here)

Like, in the puppet show that’s used as a framing device throughout episode 5, mizu is represented as both the ronin, a man who swore revenge on an entire clan (mirroring mizu’s own revenge plot), and also the bride, who turns into an onryō at the end of the story, mirroring mizus own journey of revenge after being mistreated.

Plus there’s the brothel scene, this is where me and my sister kind of realized “oh yeah, this bitch queer coded, and also definitely probably trans.” While being showed the different ways people enjoy the brothel, Mizu seems completely uninterested in anything that doesn’t get them further to their goal, except when they see a man having a threesome with a man and a woman, AND while watching this man be intimate with another man in the brothel, mizu immediately thinks of their ‘enemies to lovers’ boyfriend Taigen. This could be another indication of how Mizu doesn’t feel like either, or like both genders or could even be an indication of them being a trans masculine character.

And there’s just so many themes of social acceptance based on how they are born, how people perceive them once they truly know Mizu, and their fear of telling people who they truly are. And I know there’s a lot of media where people out main characters due to cultural taboos (like mizus mixed race identity) that isn’t necessarily about being trans, but at the same time there are soooo many moments where gender plays such an important role for these characters, which makes sense given the context and time period but I can’t help but feel the way Mizu represents themselves is more than just a survival tactic.

Even Ringo continues to use he/him pronouns for Mizu throughout the show despite finding out about Mizus ‘secret’ pretty early on (although this could also just be to not give away their secret). And the only other characters that know about their sex either tries to force them into a woman’s gender role in society (such as their mother and husband) or use it to mock them (like Fowler in the final episode).

I dunno man. Either way though I’m simping fuckin HARD for this character.

Hello! I love your Cosplay Guides for COD! It’s very detailed and well done! But I can’t seem to find the character I’d like to cosplay beside Soap! I even found and looked on your DeviantArt, but he wasn’t there. Would it be possible to consider adding Gary ‘Roach’ Sanderson? Thank you in advance! :)

Ah, here’s where it gets difficult as there isn’t a “canon” reboot appearance of Roach that is able to be properly broken down. A lot of the “remaster” Roach images out there are actually just using modified or “kitbashed” versions of AI NPC skins or generic MP “milsim” skins, which share a lot of the same core assets as the campaign characters in terms of clothing, plate carriers, and pouches, albiet in different configurations and colourations.

The OG trilogy doesn’t give us much to work on either as we didn’t really see more than his arms from the first person mode, and what glimpses of his body we do get, he’s wearing the same kit as the other TF141 characters as their appearance was a lot more uniform than the reboot is. The other issue with the OG trilogy is that the equipment, even in the remaster, is too low-poly and generic to really make any kind of identification of specific equipment nearly impossible.

(Post-note: This is turning into a longer response than I expected so I’ll throw this under the cut)

Personally, if I were building a cosplay for Roach that was in line with the reboot’s aesthetics, then I would start with what “theme” I want to capture based on existing trends. Looking at what the other boys have there are about three, maybe four distinct themes:

- Night Raider: the “nightwar” gear where they’re all in black and navy blue, night vision goggles, all that “going dark” angle

- Field Work: what the boys wear a lot during MW19 and MWIII, your more conventional SF look with the green, brown, and camouflage printed clothing and gear, maybe helmets or hats, etc.

- Urban Ops: essentially streetwear or civilian attire with their combat loads just thrown over the top, maybe a thinned out load for mobility or “short duration” actions. Think Soap’s tee & jeans load or what is worn during the tunnel fight in the end of MWIII.

Once you have a theme in mind, draw inspiration from the others for what Roach might have, and don’t be afraid to incorporate headcanons if you so choose.

Here’s what I would do if I were building a Roach costume, using what is known from the canon trilogy and commonly adopted fanon.

Theme: Urban Operations

Clothing:

- Ranger Green Crye G3 combat shirt, rolled up sleeves to below the elbow. UK IR flag patch on right shoulder pocket flap.

- Faded blue and torn denim jeans, single kneepad on the right knee.

- Mechanix Original gloves in Coyote Brown, cutoff the trigger finger halfway on the right glove.

Platform (vest):

- Crye CPC in coyote brown

— Condor Tactical Annex Admin pouch on the top velcro section of the vest

— 2x HSGI Twin AR Taco rifle mag pouches on the front MOLLE panel, occupying wearer’s left and centre row pairs

— Flashbang pouch occupying right row pair of the front molle panel

— Left cummerbund, running front to back: HSGI Single AR Taco rifle mag pouch, Spritus Systems GP pouch, Tactical Tailor PRC-152 radio pouch - all coyote brown

— Right cummerbund, front to back: flashbang pouch, Spritus Systems GP pouch

— Rear platebag just remains empty to accommodate a backpack when needed

— Patches: Green IR UK flag patch attached to the admin pouch

- Ronin Tactics TF Belt, coyote brown

— Left hip: ESSTAC twin pistol magazine pouch, with single HSGI AR Taco behind it

— Small of back: Blue Force Gear Micro Trauma NOW IFAK

— Right Hip: holster of some kind on a low-ride platform, suitable for a sidearm of your choosing. Recommend Safariland brand.

Headwear:

Beanie/watch cap with Opscore AMP headset over the top, half-face neckwrap in black or grey, with tinted wrap sunglasses.

Haven’t covered footwear as I have a few boots I wear personally, can’t go wrong with either Underarmour or Oakley tactical boots, or cross reference my guides and see what the others wear.

I hope this serves as a helpful guide or something to help you out with your own Roach cosplay. And believe me, if we do get a Roach character in the reboot verse you can bet that I’ll have their loadout breakdown done!

did you know that karai wasn't even the trigger, she was the bullet. did you know that shen fed her a lie her entire life. do you know long it took for karai to trust the world again. did you know karai never trusted herself. how could she when a scowl could make her unrecognizable

did you know karai's 14. did you know she's ronin's age. did you know that karai and ronin are under a year apart in age. did you know that karai has a scar from her eye up to her eyebrow, because shen used that as a fear tactic. shen held karai down, took her clawed-glove, and scraped from karai's eye socket up her eyebrow, just to remind karai how powerless she was in this situation.

I can drop some fun-fact trivia about this season now that it’s no longer spoilers :D

So we all know Morro has this obsession with being the green ninja, but did you know his ghost gang are his attempts to emulate Lloyd’s ninja? Or, well, specifically the OG4 (Kai, Jay, Zane, and Cole)

Bansha is the equivalent of Kai— both wear red, are quick(er) tempered, and use bladed weapons

Ghoultar is the equivalent of Cole— both are the strongest member of their teams, love food, and use scythes

Soul Archer is the equivalent of Zane— both use ranged weapons, tend to be calmer and tactical, and have a history with Ronin (Ronin’s debt is to Soul Archer & Ronin is supposedly the person who brought Zane to Chen’s island)

Wrayth (sir “crashed into a watertower”) is the equivalent of Jay— both use chain weapons, have an affiliation with vehicles, and share a Voice Actor
