I will be the first to say that the Sphinx was low-key character assassinated in Dragonwatch 5, but this line will never not be funny to me.

The Sphinx has had Kendra kidnapped/captured multiple times, but when it comes to Ronodin, the Sphinx is like "idk Seth, he's kinda weird about it"

Reread the entire Fablehaven/Dragonwatch series and….i have MANY thoughts….

a) WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BUBDA?? Like after Graulas had destroyed the house in KTTDP, I WAS LIKE IS MY LITTLE GUY OK??? HELLO??? Would’ve loved to see a lil interaction scene with him and Hermo!

b) RONODIN. I could go on a whole rant about him bc he’s arguably one of the most interesting and complex characters and they just…brushed over all of that (ahem light makes right). YES I GET IT HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR *ALOT* OF THE MAYHEM but if they forgave Seth…why not him too??😞yes i’m a Ronodin apologist sue me😼

c) The “Purification” of Seth. That just rubbed me wrong (and i know it did for others) ITS BEEN ESTABLISHED THAT HE’S THE DARKNESS TO KENDRA’S LIGHT. YING AND YANG. He was living proof that darkness≠evil and thats what made him so unique, he added something different to the mix.

d) BOOK ABOUT PATTON BURGESS WHEN?? We’re waiting Mr. Mull😃

Thinking about fhdw and chess metaphors:

Bracken is Ronodin’s Queen. The second most important piece on the board. Powerful and regal, it must be protected at all costs. It’s not essential, of course, you can win easily without it. But it does make the game less interesting.

Kendra is Ronodin’s Bishop. They are close to the King and Queen and are known to advise them. They are some of the first active pieces on the board and useful in open positions. However, their full potential can be smothered by other pieces.

Seth is Ronodin’s Knight. Somewhat tricky to use, but incredibly useful when handled right. They have great mobility, can force the other players into forks, and can go unoticed by opponents. Don’t worry if they get stuck - you can always sacrifice them for a better position.

Everyone else is a Pawn. Small, insignificant, easily manipulated, but not entirely useless. They can provide protection for other pieces and allow them to become active. If they die, no big deal.

And Ronodin? Ronodin is a King.
