I found out about this cool ass creole language developed in Canada that's a mixture of Cree/Ojibwe/Scottish Gaelic/English (developed where theres a bunch of Métis people, of course) & it's cool seeing the influences of Cree

For absolutely no reason at all, I wanted to share that the Spanish slang for "fascist" (fascista) is facha
It's unisex since it comes from fascista so it's el/la facha and los fachas
[In other unrelated contexts the word la facha also exists in some places and it's kind of like... it's related to appearance but in a bad way, like a "look at the state of you" kind of appearance; it's directly related to the rootwords you see in la fachada "facade", related to "face" and "facet" and general appearances]
-
Also note: many political party affiliations end up using the unisex ending -ista
As an example el/la izquierdista is "leftist" or "left-wing" from izquierda "left"; and conversely el/la derechista is "rightist" or "right-wing"
To use the idea of "far" in politics it's often the prefix ultra-
In other words; (la) ultraizquierda and (la) ultraderecha, then (el/la) ultraizquierdista and (el/la) ultraderechista
...
Also important to note that most words ending in -ista can also be used as adjectives for policies and trends, not just to describe people

i know you have a lot coming up for clanmew day, but i was wondering if clanmew has any other "archaic" words that aren't really used anymore? i know 'kurrnia' is one, and it would be interesting if older spirits - such as, idk, cloudberry and ryewhisker are on my mind cause of the darkstripe posting - have a bit of a language barrier communicating with younger cats because of the language changing overtime
Darkstripe: "...................what... what was that dish you just suggested?"
Cloudberry: "Blanc desire. Milke of alemaundes, flour of rys, braun of chapoun, gyngere itried, sucre, hwit wyn; vchon of þoes schulen boillen in clene possenet, & soþþen idon in þe vessel hwaryn hit schal beon imad, in a stude wyþouten vulþe; & poume gernet to strey3en abouen."
Cloud and Rye definitely have an odd cadence, their native tongue is actually early Clanmew. It's a pidgin between Parkmew and Old Tribemew, actively evolving into a creole language. They might have been some of the first cats to grow up with it as their first language!
But they're also the greeters of all new cats, and easily some of the most social spirits in the Place of No Stars. They've been speaking Clanmew AS it evolved. So they probably have a few odd phrases and archaic words, but not as extreme as Middle English Cloudberry up there lmao.
Archaic words that I can think of;
Kurrnia = Honor Child, like you brought up.
Oowe = King. The ruler of the River Kingdom.
Kekaba-weeg = An unfortunate accident or a horse-drawn carriage. References the death of Gray Wing the Wise.
Ssuiche = Homestead. A sub-territory owned by a family, pledging allegiance to the Wind Coalition or River Kingdom.
Bpon = Mountain, as opposed to Kroob, hill, which is still in use. Become the rootword of "boulder," which influenced "stone."

More 🗎 stuff— symbols I'm assigning meaning on my own for grammatical necessity reasons
Empty space ○ (like in ⧮ or ▱) denotes the speaker, i.e., first person.
Filled space ● (like in ⧯ or ▰) denotes the addressee, i.e., second person.
Addition of a smaller object inside the larger one is the possessive form: 🞊 “my/mine” 🞉 “your/yours”
Squared object (like 🞔, or ⧅) indicates the subject is not present, circled (like 🞊, or ⦸) indicates they are.
The way third person actually works is more like specifying the object of the sentence, clarifying they are not the one being addressed, then continuing with second person form, i.e. the sentence in English “That is her house” translated to 🗎 and then back would look like “The girl, that is your house”: ⿷♀ ◘⌂. So in all but name, ◘ functions as the possessive third person while 🞉 is the possessive second person because the circle indicates the subject being addressed is here.
I still have to figure out what empty space squares (meaning first person, and therefore indicating speaker is not present) are used to do. Probably something very funny. 🞔 = mine but you can act like I’m not here therefore it isn’t. Expression of apathetic or intentionally detached tone maybe; as opposed to a symbol that expresses emphasis, genuinity is the default and irony must be specified.
⿷♀ works as "person-feminine" btw. Likewise ⿷♂ is "person-masculine" or guy, ⿷⚲ is "person-neither" or agender, ⿷🕮 is "person-writer" or one of the myriad biting insults you can potentially make with this rootword, etc. ⿷ is a prefix for an adjective that transforms the full word into a noun, as opposed to ⿹ as a prefix for a noun that implies encompassment or definition-by; ⿹♀ not being a word at all because nobody is just "girl", but neither ⿹ nor ⿷ exist on their own. The symbol for just "person" in isolation is ⨡🝇 (also different from "human")

boy do i love long ass suffixes
and im talking long
like two-to-three syllables just to encode the past tense in an agglutinative language where person, number, aspect, and evidentiality are marked on the verb as well and take up equally as much space
give me that word thats more affixes than rootword

Can't erase something which isn't real.
Vegetable is a culinary term invented by marketers.
youtube
Its a term invented by the Dole corporation.
To those who argue, "but the origin is from the 17th century use of vegetabilis" -- you've completely misunderstood the word. Let me explain:
What Harper’s Online Dictionary doesn't provide is the linguistic context of the rootword -- that vegetabilis is a verb (to grow edible plants) or a noun (to be a place or person who grows edible plants) or more generally, an adverb referring to something flourishing, growing or developing (a term often used to describe people, particularly women, or nations and endeavors).
They don't exist, sorry.
kind of problematic to call taro a fruit like that...like...vegetable erasure much? 🙄

CGDCT just describes the genre, so it is kinda surprising. But at the same time I can see the haters using it. I mean, the term is long and kinda sucks. I just use it 'cause either everyone knows it, or it's descriptive and doesn't need further explanation. Personally, I think kirara-kei is a nice alternative for that term.
Moeblob (and the rootword moe to some extent) are the terms haters use more. Moeblob means "cute and substanceless," which is why I'm not a fan of these terms. I like some "moe" anime and characters, so I'm a bit biased. But I can see why it's used sometimes, as I find some CGDCT to be boring.
Now, I do wish there's a term for anime like Yuru Yuri. Perhaps it's slapstick CGCDT/kirara-kei with yuri overtones. But too long.

They say capitalism allowed for greater social mobility and less aristocratic rule. Do you think capitalism is net good or net bad?

Also. These platforms were not created solely by techbros. They're just one taxonomical classification among at least a handful of different kinds of people who were involved in the invention and application of the technology.
A lot of the foundations of all of this were laid down by trans women. Also, a gay man or two (*cough* Alan Turing *cough*).
Also a considerable number of wolves, otters, foxes, bears, and the like, a high percentage of whom are queer.
The term "techbro", by virtue of the use of the rootword "bro", was never meant to apply to any of them. It is specifically meant to refer to the cis het dudes who often ride on the coattails of everyone else, get paid more for doing it, and who think they own and understand all this shit. And who make it hell for the rest of us to work with them.
there is something especially funny about Extreme Online people complaining about "techbros". those damnèd techbros, my every waking moment is spent on whose creation
