I mean, Toichi actually being alive was implied all the way back prior to 2014 with the Corbeau case. Like the cousins thing is one thing, but Toichi having faked his own death definitely did not come out of nowhere and is canon in the Magic Kaito manga too.

To be 100% honest i have absolutely no clue about most of the dcmk lore. I've binged the magic kaito anime a few times, watched like 20-ish episodes of detective conan, watched like 3 different movies and that's it. I just started hyperfixating on Kaishin at one point for whatever reason and i absolutely have neither the time nor dedication to catch up on around 30 years of lore. Most of the lore i didnt get from what i watched is from kaishin doujinshis and they're all agreeing on "Toichi is dead" iirc, which matches with what i've seen in the anime so i'm just going with it lmao. I don't consider myself an expert on dcmk by any means.

Tonal whiplash is one of my favourite things about Kinnporsche - and this scene in ep 12 is a great example of that!

It starts off goofy, with Porsche charging in on Arm and commanding him to spy on Kinn - because apparently Arm has all of Kinn's suits bugged?

But don't think too long about the logistics there - Porsche is absolutely certain Kinn is cheating on him, and he's going to catch him in the act!

(Can we really blame him? He did just get jerked around by the Tawan incident... Then again, Porsche has always had a jealous streak...)

But Kinn went out alone! He must be up to no good if he dismissed his bodyguards!

(Never mind him sneaking off to see Porsche in ep 5. Or sneaking off with Porsche in ep 8. Or going along with Tawan in ep 9...)

(Kinn really is just asking to be kidnapped, isn't he?)

And now - the shift!

Because Porsche started listening in at the perfect time to catch Kinn talking to the debt collector that nearly ruined his and Chay's lives - who very conveniently explains that it was Kinn's plan from the beginning.

And now the scene has lost its humour, with a tension grabbing onto Porsche that he won't be able to shake off for some time - even when he runs home, finds confidence in Kinn and his love for him, that tension will find him again.

Because there are aspects to the Theerapanyakul's cruelty that he hasn't discovered yet.

And that Kinn may be capable of too.
