Indeed, Cromwell's chemistry with absolutely everyone gets mildly bizarre at points. I remember there's one bit in the books where he tells someone 'I nearly scored with Mary Boleyn' (or words to that effect) and the other person is gaping and asking 'How??? When???'

All that chemistry makes it all the more striking when it doesn't have any effect. Witness a certain nun...

A bit of a study of those old PSM endpages by Adam Warren. Actually a super fun art style to work in...

(I wasn't sure if I was going to post this, but it's pretty funny.)

Seeing all this typed out for the ID looks really silly, so I hope it's appreciated. (Below the cut.)

PLAYING THE BAKER

The steel doors shut loudly with a mechanical

*CLUNK*

Kissy Missy looked in the direction of the noise. She poked her head out of the colourfully lit tent. Yarnaby , who was curled up beside Kissy up to that point , followed.

-Ra ? What's going on ? - he tilted his head quizically.

His big eyes spotted a lumbering , shadowy silhouette near the enterance. Even though it was dark in the Safe Haven , due to the lateness , the cat with the multi-colour mane recognized the jolly , doughy giant.

Well , maybe not so jolly.

-A..a...ah... - Doey groaned , clearly in pain.

-Doey ?! - Bobby Bearhug squeaked in shock and half-asleep.

The commotion managed to startle the majority of the Smiling Critters awake. Bubba Bubbaphant helped Kickin Chicken free himself from his sleeping bag.

Kissy wasted no time in getting to Doey. She got a good look at him and immediately knew he needed medical attention.

-Kissy... - Doey whimpered as she wrapped her long arms around him.

He was so cold.

-Did one of the pipes malfunction again ?! - Bubba Bubbaphant yelled.

-And what else could have caused that ? - Kickin Chicken responded with a twinge of sarcasm in his voice.

-Don't. Fight. Now. - Scout scolded both of the Smiling Critters. -Lay. Him. Down. On. The. Bed.

He didn't need to tell Kissy twice. She hurried to the bed , that was the closest to them and , coincidentally , it was just big enough for Doey to lay comfortably on. Kissy Missy placed her friend on the blanket as he still quivered and quaked.

-I... can't lay... things need to be do... - Doey managed to say with his trembling , low voice.

-Lay down. - Bobby Bearhug suggested.

-Doctor's. Orders. - added Scout. - You. Need. To. Warm. Up.

Hearing the words "warm up" , Yarnaby perked up. He marched over to the mattress and layed down directly on poor , freezing Doey. The Safe Haven's protector shivered for only a couple more minutes. Yarnaby took great care in wrapping him with his yarn.

-Rowr! You need to get warm. - he purred sweetly.

Hihihihi-Hehehe ! *SNORT*

Huh? That was unexpected.

Bobby looked at Doey.

-Was that you ? - she cocked her head.

-What's so funny , Doey ? - Kickin Chicken scratched his head and tossed his feathers to the side. - You havin' the case of the giggles ?

Doey gently pushed the colourful yarn down to see better. Yarnaby , sencing an opportunity to have some innocent fun , started purring with all his might.

Oh , Yarnaby knew , what he was doing.

-Bahahaha ! Wa-wahahait! It-It tihihi *SNORT* tihihickles ! - Doey laughed meekly.

-Hey ! I have an idea! Laughing can warm you up! - Craftycorn flicked her curly tail.

-Everybody , get him! - Hoppy Hopscotch ordered the other toys.

-Wahait! - Doey only managed to squeak out until he got swarmed and pinned down by them.

Kissy made good use of her bendy arms and wrapped them tightly around Doey's wrists.

-Let's make a game out of it! Let's be bakers! - Picky Piggy suggested. - Let me do it!

The other Smiling Critters allowed Picky to make herself a seat on Doey's belly. He turned his head frantically.

-We need to knead the dough first. - Picky cleared her throat and said overly seriously.

Her paws got to work with lightning speed. The action sent waves of tickly feelings through Doey's body.

-Bahahahaha! Hihihi-HIHIHIHIHIHI! Ohohoho-nohoho! Ihihit tihihi-cklehes so *SNORT* bahahad! - the sentient ball of colourful dough barked with laughter.

-See , Picky? You're not the only one here that snorts. - Kickin Chicken joked around playfully.

Piggy sent her fellow critter a glare. But it quickly passed.

-Now let's roll the dough. - she said with a smile. - We don't have a rolling pin so our hands will have to do.

With surprising speed Picky Piggy dug her plush hooves into Doey's dough. Doey let out a sharp gasp.

-AH! HAHAHAHA! PIHIHIHIGGIHIHI HOHO *SNORT* HOHO-HOLD OHOHO-HON! *SQUEAK*

Doey's legs couldn't stop kicking and stomping. All of the excess energy he was getting was going straight to his legs.

Kissy also wanted to join in on the fun. She decided to use the method , which suited her name.

The pink giant planted plenty of soft , very tickly kisses all through Doey's neck and belly.

-KIHIHIHIHIISSY! HAHAHAHA! OHOHOKAHAY IAHAHAHAHAM WAHAHARM! *SNORT* - the victim of the tickle-trap squealed. - AHAHAHAHA! AHAHAHAM GOHOHOHONNAHAHA MEHEHEHEHELT ! *SNORT*

-Alright , let him go! We don't want Doey to melt. - Bubba chuckled softly.

-Aw , man! You're ruining the fun. - Hoppy scowled in exaggeration.

Doey shakily got up from the bed but soon realized he was so pooped , he just wanted to lay back down and fall asleep.

At least the plan worked. He felt very warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Soon the only thing , that could be heard from the Safe Haven , was the gentle snoring of the Critters , the sleepy purring of Yarnaby , squeaking of Kissy and , finally , the sleepy giggling of sweet ol' Doey.
