The Infinity Particle
By Wendy Xu
In this gorgeous graphic novel by Wendy Xu, co-creator of the award-winning Mooncakes, a young inventor falls for a lifelike AI and confronts questions of freedom and autonomy. Clementine Chang moves from Earth to Mars for a new start and is lucky enough to land her dream job with Dr. Marcella Lin, an Artificial Intelligence pioneer. On her first day of work, Clem meets Dr. Lin’s assistant, a humanoid AI named Kye. Clem is no stranger to robots—she built herself a cute moth-shaped companion named SENA.
Still, there’s something about Kye that feels almost too human. When Clem and Kye begin to collaborate, their chemistry sets off sparks. The only downside? Dr. Lin is enraged by Kye’s growing independence and won’t allow him more freedom. Plus, their relationship throws into question everything Clem thought she knew about AI. After all, if Kye is sentient enough to have feelings, shouldn’t he be able to control his own actions? Where is the line between AI and human? As her past and Kye’s future weigh down on her, Clem becomes determined to help him break free—even if it means risking everything she came to Mars for.

This book meant a lot to me. It's been a long, hard year, in a series of extremely difficult years. So it was nice to read some science fiction where All This ends, not in doom, but in a better future. Reading "The end of late stage capitalism & the age of billionaires" as part of the history/world building of the story felt like a breath of fresh air. As well as seeing actual A.I. instead of the thieving aggregates we're currently subjected to.
I also related to both Clem & Kye with their respective abusive parents, and taking the step to run towards your own future and sense of self. SENA is also adorable, and I'd love to have a little friend like them.
This is my favourite of Wendy Xu's books thus far, and one I'll probably return to whenever I need a pick-me-up.

this is a psa to everyone to read newsprints and endgames by ru xu, they are the best graphic novels ever
[ID: A few sketches of characters from the Newsprints and Endgames graphic novels. The first shows Hector and Leo sitting in the show, sharing cups of warm drinks. They smile at each other. The bottom drawing shows Blue and Red, looking at each other and smiling. Both drawings are redrawn from panels of the comics. /End ID.]

Okay, so I had an assignment last year to create a "movie trailer" for a graphic novel. I found that video recently and decided to edit (read: fix) it and post it.
Before you judge the quality, understand that I made this entire thing on iMovie on my phone. And the images are me literally taking pictures of the pages of the book. And I have zero experience sound editing. So. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The book is NewsPrints by Ru Xu. Are there spoilers? Yes, yes there are. All the visuals are the actual panels, it's not as if it could have been avoided. But I tried not to ruin too much of the actual plot. And better to see a few spoilers than to never read the book at all, yeah?

Five of Wands. Art by Ru Xu, from Loaf Tarot.
Cute birds clash! These five fluffy long-tailed tits have found a wonderful place to rest, but a few can’t put aside their egos -- and thus strife occurs!
Upright, the Five of Wands represents conflict, competition, and tension. Reversed, it predicates the avoidance of such in favor of peace and truces. Shima Enaga tend to be social birds that cooperate to raise chicks and survive the cold winters in Hokkaido. Perhaps these five will find a way to resolve their situation and return to harmony before the seasons change once more.

Hey I can't believe I actually found a art blog into Gravity Falls and Newsprints! 1st off always awesome to find a Newsprints fan in the wild lol. But you see I love fusing together characters for my writing but a few fusions stick out more than others. 1 of these would be a fusion between Bill Cipher and Blue from Endgames. And I'd absolutely love it if you drew this. If you have any questions about it please ask and hope you're doing awesome.
AW thank you for leaving me such a nice message :) thats a rlly cool idea! ill try my best to draw this, but i dont really know what its gonna look like, lol
i hope ur doing well too :)
