Can you ✨please✨ write headcanons of ruby reassuring her gf that her life is worth living and the bad times won't last forever? (I'm currently going through a really rough time and I can't get a job or (probably) go to school again for a while because of my severe anxiety and neurodivergency, and I just... Need that type of comfort 😅)

Ruby Soho comforting her partner; drabble

Notes: hope you enjoy anon, and I do hope things get better for you!! Also I know you requested this to be a headcanons list, but I forgot when I started writing this in my notes.

There were no questions asked. The moment Ruby walked through the door of the bedroom and saw the tears stream down your cheeks, she kicked off her shoes to immediately join you in bed. She held you close until your sniffles died down and your soft hiccups started after the harsh sobs came to an end, painted nails gentle scratching your back in hopes of calming you down or at least helping you find some sort of comfort in this moment, despite being unsure of what was happening or how you were feeling exactly.

“Talk to me, babe.” It was more of gentle encouragement than a command. She could understand if you didn’t want to talk about it at all and just wanted to lay here or continue to cry it out. Whatever you chose, she was there for you.

Getting it all off your chest, she would listen to you, making sure you knew all her attention and focus was on you. She wanted to know she was there for you, she was here, and she wasn’t going to let you go. As you let all your problems, told her every little thing, every stress, every worry, she was right there.

“Oh, baby .. I know times are hard and life can just be so, so shitty. But believe it or not, it is still worth living, because you have so much to look forward to. I know it may not seem like it right now, because you’re getting hit with every single roadblock life it throwing at you, but just trust me. It will always get better. I promise. And I also promise that I will be with you, always, every step of the way to make sure things go at least a little better the next day and the next.”

With a gentle hand cupping your cheek, Ruby pulls you into a kiss, gentle and sweet as she always was with you. No matter how rebellious and ‘bad’ she may seem in front of the cameras, she always showed you just how kind she could be — how kind she was to you.

“Now, I’m going to get out of bed and make us some popcorn, grab some drinks, and throw our fluffy blanket in the dryer so it’s nice and toasty. And you .. ”

A pause as she got up with the fluffy blanket from the end of the bed, another quick kiss pressed to your lips with a faint smudge of her black lipstick being left behind.

“ .. are going to find us a movie to watch. Sound like a plan, muffin?”

“Sounds good.” You spoke up, causing a smile spread across her face as she leaned down to gently wipe away any tears left behind on your cheeks.

“Alright then. Here is the remote then and I will be right back.”

And with that, she ran off to do just as she said she would. Blanket in the dryer, popcorn in the microwave, and retrieving two drinks for the two of you to wash down your snack for the movie.

Ruby knew she couldn’t solve everything and she knew life could be so difficult at times. But she hoped that, at the very least, she could make it just a little bit better for you.

The Alien and The Runaway (pt 1)

Summary: Kris Statlander finds herself in a bit of a pickle. She needs to find a partner to ‘marry’ in AEW for storyline purposes. Enter the Runaway herself Ruby Soho, who is looking to make an impact. Can they learn to be a team? Will real feelings get involved? Is Kris actually an alien? Kris Statlander frowned as she stared at the envelope in her hands. She wondered if it would burst into flames if she stared at it long enough. She didn't need x-ray vision to tell her what was inside. The adorable alien needed to get married, the sooner, the better at least storyline wise. She supposed she could ask one of the Best Friends to help her out, but she didn't want to loop them into even more trouble and chaos. They had their own things going on. She had no doubt they would help her, but she didn't want to put Chuck or Trent through that, and Orange wasn't likely to pass any inquiry that she might face.

When the writing team for AEW had pitched the idea of a romantic storyline, Kris had wanted to pass on it. She wanted to be a wrestler not some valet, not that there was anything wrong with it, but she had bigger aspirations. She hadn't worked her way back from injury just to sit idly by on the side lines.

She really didn't want too do this and yet the fans seemed to love romance angles. That was something she never really understood about the humans. Why they bought into all of that. Kris shuddered at the thought, if she wanted to stay in AEW and by extension with her new found family on Earth she'd find a way to make it work.

Scanning the backstage area, Kris clutched the envelope tightly, studying her different coworkers. She thought of who she could ask to help her out. She wanted to do something different, something that would still keep her relevant in the women's division so she could get back to scoring wins.

"You look deep in thought."

Kris jumped slightly, she hadn't noticed Ruby Soho approaching her from the side. The punk rock wrestler was surprisingly fleet footed. Kris shook her head, trying to focus. "I am just thinking."

"About what?" Ruby asked curiously.

Kris hesitated on telling her, for one she didn't think Ruby was going to believe her, and two she didn't really want her new friend thinking less of her. "It's stupid." Kris said after a moment.

Ruby raised a brow. "Well now you've peaked my interest. I love stupid things, what's going on?"

"The writers want to put me into a romantic storyline. They said I could pick the person and as long as it was compelling enough, they'd work it in. But if I don't find somebody, they're going to pick and..." Kris trailed off. If anybody knew how it was to get stuck in a stupid storyline it was probably Soho.

Ruby blinked a couple of times, trying to process what Kris was telling her. She was new to AEW and she knew they focused more on the wrestling, but it didn't surprise her that they were also trying to tell compelling stories. "Are you worried about not being able to find somebody? What about Orange or Chuck?"

Kris shook her head. "I don't want to force them into this. These types of stories can really mess with people's personal lives and I am not sure Orange would be into telling that kind of story." Kris trusted her team members, but she didn't want to saddle them with this. "I'm also worried because I want to focus on my wrestling. I want to stay focus on the women's division."

"What if I was the one?" Ruby suggested after a long moment. She knew how to be a tag team wrestler and she had never really gotten to tell the story she wanted to tell with Liv. Maybe this was her chance to make up for it and tell a story she felt was worth telling.

It was Kris' turn to blink in confusion. "You do know the end goal in this, is for our characters to get married on television right? We'd have to fake a relationship and make it compelling enough for the audience to buy into."

Ruby nodded once. "Yeah, I know. You were welcoming when I first got here, and I want to help you out. I can return the favor and if it gets us more TV time, then I'm all for it. I want to make a mark here."

Kris was stunned by the offer, more by the fact that Ruby actually seemed excited by the prospect. "Um, alright, I'll talk to Cody and Tony and see if that's compelling enough for them."

"Hey Statlander, I do have a question though," Ruby blushed a little bit. It was so stupid but Liv had been bugging her to ask. The blonde had called Ruby and gone on for almost an hour about the conspiracy that Stat was actually an alien. "Liv is gonna freak out, but she wanted me to ask if you're actually.... an alien." Ruby finished lamely.

Kris stared at her for a long moment, trying not to laugh. She licked her lips, sucking on her lip ring for a second as her eyes narrowed. She debated on whether or not to tell Ruby the truth, before decided to just screw with her for a little bit.

"Guess you'll have to marry me and find out." Kris said after a moment, leaning forward to boop her on the nose. She winked at Ruby and then brushed past her.

Ruby's jaw dropped as she watched Kris skip off down the hallway to talk to Cody and the rest of the writing staff. "You didn-.... but," Ruby let out a sigh and shook her head, wondering what kind of chaos she had just signed up too. Surely Liv was wrong and Kris wasn't an alien, it was a gimmick, it had to be.  Ruby shuddered, and tried to focus on the storyline.

If they were going to make this work, then it meant traveling together and actually learning how to be a team. Ruby had experience being part of a stable with the Riott Squad, but she had a feeling teaming with Kris was going to be different. She just hoped that they could find a way to tell a compelling story.
