Ehm I don't really have a distinction between "Old" and "New" mandos names tbh, but also, mandalorians are very simple when it comes to choosing names, lol.

You can basically go on this dictionary, type a word, see if there is a mando'a equivalent, and you can perfectly use it for a name!

Biography

Appearance 5'11", Tall, weedy and unassuming with a runner's physique, Hiram's fluffy brown hair and slender shoulders do not belie any degree of strength. But as one well knows, appearances are often deceiving. Hiram's frame brims with concealed power and musculature that comes from hitting the heavy-bag and sprinting track almost daily.

While the rest of his features are plain, his hishuri-brightened eyes, artificial and eerie, set him apart when he looks at you - vivid, otherworldly blue. In addition to this, due to his disorder, he presents with horizontal nystagmus which can be quite jarring to those who aren't accustomed to it, often appearing as if reading invisible lines of text.

He's quick to smile, and to convey the full range of emotional expression that is expected from a human, but those who are observant can tell it's often manufactured for their benefit. Hiram's Starfleet uniform is always tidy, neat and polished within regulation specifications.

Hiram has one tattoo of Escher's impossible cube on his right bicep, and three lines scarred into his left bicep undissolvable by current Federation technology, along with a few raised circles-presumably these indicate a rank, position and blood type as well as personal identification in the case of death or grievous injury.

Personality Hiram presents a very curated, very stable face to the world and it is not often that he deviates from this in a significant way. He is an excellent and attentive clinician and often picks up on cues that others miss, particularly when it comes to behaviors and emotions-something which serves him well in his role with the Palais de Concorde's Interstellar Criminal Court. It's when you really get to know him on a much deeper, more personal level that some structural pattern inconsistencies hinting at a prior catastrophic instability begin to emerge. Fortunately Hiram is keen and self-aware, and is able to regulate himself very easily, as he largely lacks emotional interoception altogether. As a bonus, he is ultra-handy to have around in a crisis, and can tolerate a vast quantity of chaos. Composed, compassionate, diplomatic, grounded. It is nearly impossible to faze Hiram, given his personal and professional experiences, and he can have a conversation with just about anyone about any topic. Shallow/blunted affect, formal, secretive, indifferent to praise or criticism. Those who know Hiram for long enough recognize that he can be insincere, utilitarian and lacking in felt (affective) empathy. While Hiram is not a dangerous individual, he exudes a vibe that most people who get close to him find "disarming." Working with clay is a whole lot easier to me instead of drawing or doing digital art. I’m the type of person to paint and sculpt. I usually just post drawings because that’s the only thing I improve on the fastest and do most often. I might create a completely separate blog just for sculpting and pottery. I know this is a pretty small thing, but I think it’s cute how even though the gifts the boys got for runi aren’t the best n it’s played mostly as comedic, there actually is a good amount of merit & thought behind each one. Each one actually reflects an aspect of runi’s personality.

Kasko is easily the most similar to runi in terms of interests, so while berries are pretty simple, they actually look to be the same type of berries we see runi munching on in the rain!

Nero has been with Runi the longest, and he’s no doubt familiar with how thoughtful/sentimental she is, even if he doesn’t really understand it as shown with the pebble he finds for her.

Boneslav’s gift is actually pretty interesting despite appearing rather unimpressive. Its a flower that’s common for deerkind, no doubt being largely overlooked by many. But to boneslav it’s a completely new flora!! I think it does what Nero’s gift was trying to do (give Runi something considerate to ponder over) but better since it’s something mundane being appreciated by a new perspective.

I have to pop your bubble because you got couple of them wrong! It's sometimes hard to know who's talking when the characters aren't shown. Kasko is the one who narrates this.

The wetberries are from Nero, because he knows Runi loves to eat. You can see her munching on these exact berries before her mud bath. Kasko wants to eat Nero's gift because those berries are TASTY.

The pebble is from Kasko, who knows Runi likes to look at interesting things, like stars at night. Nobody comments on this one, because Kasko is the main commenter here.

The flowers are from Boneslav. They're new and appealing to him, and he doesn't know Runi well enough to pick something more specific. I think Boneslav is also a bit lost when it comes to what kind of plants grasslanders eat.

Gold is worthless in Quiet Space, as is everything except time itself. Access to space and automation of labor kind of kill the concept of scarcity of goods entirely and well, that's it for economics as we know it. The Terran Protectorate's closest thing to a currency is a literal credit system that entitles you to X hours of the empire's industrial capacity.

I mean, time is fleeting...

Its a stellar Empire. Only one clock is 24 hour and it's Earth's. The odds of another planet having the same rotational speed is basically 0.

Again since most places in my setting are not on Earth and therefore axial tilts are different... and also most megastructures and space habs don't have seasons at all...

I've got a planet that rains diamonds. Okay sure I'm just borrowing it from reality but people can go there and do things.

One of the human Clann's homeorlds is a gas giant. It has rings. Several planets have orbital ring habitats, but I don't think that's what you meant.

I have several robotic species which genuinely would not be able to grock the idea of bastardry. "But... they manufactured you. You are their creation. Circumstances are irrelevant."

Most of my aliens do not use binary sexes. Many of the monosex species don't have a concept of gender at all because WHY WOULD THEY?

The Glorin again. They discount other gods as gods because they know they're just extradimentional entities that live in hyperspace. Their god does not live in hyperspace and seems supernatural to other gods. She also dosn't do the normal god things, she shows up like your cool aunt coming back to town and will do things like make your whole species immune to cancer and call it a "bug fix".

Again, the Glorin's god. She's very lovecraftian in appearance unless she specifically takes on a humanoid form for whatever reason (but she'll complain the entire time about how painful it is to "scrunch up like this")

I've got this one. What? This is a science-fantasy setting. Not sci-fi. TLDR; you can get a journal that will tell you everything friends that have willingly touched the journal did yesterday. It resets every time you sleep and fills you in on the previous day with every reset. This is, in fact, communication. Its just not real time or intentional. Yes this thing can end friendships, but its popular with Terrans because Terran society is about authenticity in 4269 and if your best friend actually thinks you're lame you want to know so you can terminate the friendship and find someone else (also their whole family would shame them as being inauthentic is as big of a social taboo as incest is today).

Books don't exist anymore. All information you want is either a direct download to your brain, or a VR experience. So... Yeah I've got this covered. Its not even a "well I love old things, so I still read books!" type of deal. If you read a book someone would look at you with the same incredulity that you would look at someone trying to light their bong by rubbing two sticks together. You'd probably also alert Central to a mental health crisis.

Many species communicate by psionic or digital telepathy. But sign langauge dosn't exist outside of millitary applications anymore. Not because "screw deaf/mute people!" but because genetic engineering has eliminated those conditions entirly. No one is born with physical disadvantages anymore. The husband taking the wife's name / newlyweds inventing a new surname upon marriage

Gods that don’t look like people

Domesticated pets that aren’t re-skinned dogs and cats

Some normalized supernatural element that has nothing to do with the plot

Magical communication that isn’t Fantasy Zoom

“Books” that aren’t bound or scrolls

A nonverbal means of communicating, like sign language

A race of people who are obligate carnivores/ vegetarians/ vegans/ pescatarians (not religious, biological imperative)

I’ve done about half of these myself in one WIP or another and a little detail here or there goes a long way in reminding the audience that this isn’t Kansas anymore.
