The curse of modern “fashion” ₊ ˚⊹

The once glamorous, captivating and elegant ness of fashion has been destroyed by today’s modern eye. Fashion used to be bold, with vibrant colours and used to hold a persons identity, it used to make you feel something. Today’s modern “fashion” is bland, tasteless and empty. It’s dull and minimalist with no sense of creativity, thought or emotion. Fashion used to bewitch you, grasping you in its colours and fabrics, giving a new unknown confidence to the person wearing the clothes, it used to be raw and different, everyone had their own different and unique style, not everyone fit in and that was the beauty of it, the beauty of turning a simple peice of fabric and forming it into art. Modern fashion takes that away, with its dull and sad beige colours and its simple flimsy pieces, the way modern runways has represented today’s fashion is sickening and distasteful. Modern fashion has no emotion, no feelings and it doesn’t represent a persons identity whatsoever, instead It conforms to society’s now “minimalist aesthetic” where everything has to be sad and beige, where no one can be different. Models used to be elegant, classy and now instead are dull and tasteless, they show no care or emotion into their work. They show no confidence in the pieces they wear, the beauty of runways was not only the clothes but also how the models were able to look so glamorous, how they used to walk with pride and looked graceful while doing so. I can’t grasp how society thinks it’s “art” to wear a trash bag as a dress, or like the picture above a grey mask body suit. The art isn’t “quirky” and it doesn’t “send a message” it is boring and uninspiring, modern art is soulless and shows no thought, the models don’t even look like their enjoying walking up and down wearing them ridiculous “clothes”, while old models didn’t have a big beaming smile on their face, they showed a announced confidence and pride as they walked down the runway, their movements powerful and strong as they showed of a number of gorgeous pieces, their outfits showed richness and luxury. Modern fashion strips any creative spark aspiring future fashionistas could have held, if this is how the future of clothes is to come. Then I’d rather wear the trash bag dress.
