i feel like there would be some subtle signs that ghost took an interest in you…

- one time you were showing him something on the computer, and he took that massive 6’4” body of his and leaned it right over your shoulder to read the screen. as if that wasn’t close enough, he rested one of his big ‘ol calloused hands on the desk beside you, effectively caging you into your seat. you could practically feel the warmth that radiated off of him when he did that. (he really likes the smell of your shampoo, by the way.)

- he watched you make your coffee one morning, memorizing your order down to the number of sugar packets you used. after that, you’d head down to make your morning cup and all the exact ingredients would mysteriously be laid out on the counter for you. he’d pick on you later about drinking coffee instead of tea, though. maybe he’ll make you a cup for you to try- back in his own office, of course ;)

- everyone in tf141 knows you’re a perfectly capable soldier, so they think it’s odd that ghost always finds ways to provide extra backup for you during missions. guarding you from danger, making sure your area is clear of threats…he can’t help but want to protect and take care of his fellow teammate, though he has a list of other ways he’d like to take care of you :’)

i feel like there would be some subtle signs that keegan took an interest in you…

- he saw your phone screen after training one day, immediately zeroing in on the artist you were listening to. later that evening he casually brings up the exact same band/person, because he’s coincidentally one of their biggest fans! maybe he’ll ask you to go to one of their shows when you’re off duty… looks like you’ve found yourself a concert buddy ;)

- he bullies you, but it’s with the best intentions. it’s more like him relentlessly nagging at you until you match his snarky energy and give him some sass back, which he loves to provoke from you. you always have the best comebacks when he uses his dry humor on you, and he thinks it’s adorable. he definitely likes to push your buttons, but he’d like to undo them even more <3

- ever since he revealed your “shared love” for your favorite artist, he sends you music recommendations for you to listen to (that will hopefully make you think of him whenever you hear them!). pay attention to the lyrics, because he might be trying to tell you something with them… :))

i feel like there would be some subtle signs that graves took an interest in you…

- if you have any snacks or candy on you, he’s nonchalantly stepping right beside you and doing that “underhand-behind-the-back” gesture for you to shake some into his palm. (sometimes he imagines that’s what your lips taste like- omg who said that???)

- he let you wear his jacket during an operation where you were in the freezing cold outside for an extensive amount of time. he watched you shiver through your orders, trying your best to be a good soldier for him :( he walked up to you and draped his shadow company jacket over your shoulders (which smelled deliciously like him) and flashed you that toothy grin. “you look like you’re ‘bout to get frostbite, soldier. take this.” (he was definitely thinking of some other ways that he could warm you up…)

- he took his time when he read through your file, and wow, it looks like your city’s professional football team rivals his. it’s the perfect way to initiate banter with you. he’ll be giving you a hard time about it for sure, and maybe he’ll make some interesting bets with you depending on how well the season’s going ;)

Ratio/Aventurine can go two ways:

1. Ratio viewing Aventurine as…not a science experiment, but something interesting pull apart and study, enabling his worst behaviors just to see the consequences, whatever they may be

2. Ratio refusing to let Aventurine burn himself out, treating him with care because no one else will (including himself and excluded Topaz)

In either case, Ratio’s attention is firmly fixed on Aventurine because he’s smart and can actually hold an intelligent conversation with Ratio. He may not be able to explain in minute detail how something works like Ratio can, but he knows how to get the results he wants and practical knowledge is still knowledge. A gambling fool Aventurine might be, but never an idiot or stupid

Also, Ratio realizing he likes Aventurine and being Mad about it is so funny. Aventurine may realize he cares about Ratio, but it would be hard for him to accept and admit his own feelings because he feels guilty for any comfort he finds and doesn’t think he deserves it unless there’s an edge to it

I like to think they had a…relationship of sorts going into Penacony, because it makes things a whole lot more painful. It balances out afterwards though, because we don’t know if he’s entirely free of the IPC, but the less Aventurine is attached to the IPC, the less he has to keep up his facade and the more Ratio gets to see the man underneath, whether he goes by Aventurine, Kakavasha or a different name entirely

I’m sorry I’ve been MIA, my personal life and physical health are being way more of a dumpster fire than usual. While this would have killed my ability and desire to write alone, other things occurred.

I burnt myself out trying to be a planner writer when it was making me miserable. I thought that it was the “best” way to write, but if I am so unhappy doing it I dread it (and even while doing it feels like a slog) then it isn’t helpful so I will be back to mostly drafting. Among the Hydrangeas was the project I burnt myself out on so it is on the back burner till the burnout stops being so intense.

I have started a new project though, a monster romance, so maybe I’ll discuss it here. I’m just so tired and in pain every day, though, that I might only be able to write and not do my updates here for a bit.

I am logging on and reading things here still! I’m just quiet until things improve and I can do things again.

Probably one of the best things about the Soul Calibur games is the fact that it's a near-perfect mix of genres between historical fiction and fantasy on top of it being a fighting game.

It makes references to real life events that took place in the late 16th/early 17th centuries, like how the Holy Roman Empire was a thing around this time, but it also has lizardfolk, magical wizards, elves, etc.

But whether you think it's either one or the other, I think we can all come to an agreement that it also does not take itself too seriously, and I live by that.

Thanks PRR! This should be easy enough there's not really a pressure for it to be the most important things. Currently, working through letting myself feel again, which is a bit overwhelming (turns out one of the reasons I was suppressing emotions was because I was feeling distress on a pretty regular basis), so it's good to have an excuse to remind myself of what makes me happy. I'm going to focus on the small things.

Music Honestly sometimes music is more of a distraction for me from what's going on, rather than something that I go to when I'm happy. Here's a random sample of artists I've been listening to: + Jean Sibelius + Rene Aubry + 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Original Cast + Mitski + The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals Cast + MCR Plus, I like playing music too. Nothing more cathartic than playing some Chopin.

TTRPGs I think you've seen them in my blog at this point. Currently running a Traveller (Mongoose 2e 2022 update). Great way to unwind an pretend to be various characters that I made up on the spot, because I didn't anticipate a particular random encounter coming up ( eg. Teens who are members of a key-based subculture). I also like reading rulebooks. And then not playing those games.

Reading books don't do this nearly enough. But I really do enjoy it. Plus, reading helps me study people without them looking at me weird. Last few books I've been reading: + Gideon the Ninth (Tamsyn Muir) + Bi (Julia Shaw) + Left Hand of Darkness (Ursula K Le Guin)

Friends lovely. fun to be around. great to stare manicly into their eyes. Competitively. For tens of minutes. that's what friend do right?

don’t mind me here, just imagining ghost giving you a drink with no glass 🫠

it’s a late night after a fairly monotonous day, and you’re sat on the couch as ghost rummages around in the kitchen. you hear the clinking of glasses and closing of cupboards, all happening over the low volume of whatever mind-numbing show is playing on the television. then the noise all stops, and you only hear his deep, husky voice from behind you: “fancy a drink?”

you turn your head over your shoulder, absentmindedly responding with a halfhearted “hmmm… sure, but not a whole lot please,” before returning to your zoned out state. he lets out a quiet hum before grabbing the bottle of whiskey from the counter and wordlessly making his way over to you. you don’t even register his presence until you feel a calloused hand brush along your cheek, cupping your chin and gently tilting your head back. your heart thumps in your chest when your now widened eyes meet ghost’s, and he commands as a murmur “open f’me.” he lifts the bottle slightly, indicating his intentions.

you’re unbelievably flustered when you comply, face turning bright red as you dutifully open your mouth for him. he’s biting back a grin while he caresses your jaw, standing over your form to tilt the bottle toward you. his watchful eyes never leave yours, and time seems to stop as the liquor pours past your lips. you’re not sure which is warmer- the whiskey spilling down your throat, or his large hand on your skin.

“that’s it…”

his praise makes your whole body flutter. once you swallow, ghost tilts the bottle back upright, holding back a chuckle before he closes your mouth for you. he moves to situate himself beside you on the couch, bringing one glass and the bottle with him, and he’s thoroughly amused at all of the inquisition written all over your face. what he did was so unexpected…but so hot.

he sets everything down on the coffee table to start making his drink, though you’re both well aware that his creation is soon to be abandoned anyway. with low-lidded eyes, he only offers a slight shrug to your silent questioning, and his cheeky response is stated as casually as it could be.

“said ya didn’t want much…i didn’t wanna waste another glass.”
