We really need to stop with the “it’s more feminist if the female character is alone at the end vs having a life partner if she so chooses” BS. And Mr Wet Lettuce needs to stop giving us his opinion imho
#(this is reminding me of you know what ofc ugh)#tbh though I’ve always been indifferent to H*nry T*lb*t#and stuck to my A/B lane#but man couldn't do half a page (but also supposedly didn't see the script so not sure I believe that)#at the end of the day it’s J Fell again having to react to a male actor leaving#as Mr Wet Lettuce was barely in one film and not in the other already#and sounds like they were trying to work around him with that half a page#I really love a man dictating an original female character’s ending in a ten-year franchise#yay feminism though amirite#It really makes me feel empowered as a woman 🙄#the true ending of DA was S6CS anyway#sorry this is going into this blog vs APA#if Fellowes brings in Evelyn I'll take it though lmao#mirai's text posts

APA Speculation Sunday
This is more of a rant and wish than speculation but re: Mary--
I'd rather not give the whole wet lettuce fiasco more of my energy, but Goode's further comments about feminism also were misplaced to me, especially when he hasn't seen the script of the third film.
I feel like a woman being single isn't something that is inherently feminist. It’s about having the choice. A woman can a life partner if she so chooses and still be feminist. Boiled down, one isn’t more feminist over the other.
The divorced girboss is a trope I know people love, but divorces are complicated with many emotions. Also, Goode jokes they could kill Henry off. Being that we have seen Mary already as a depressed widow, even if she loved Matthew more than Henry like… idk a second dead husband doesn't give me girlboss vibes for her.
Women don't need men to be whole, and women shouldn't be defined by a man. And female characters shouldn't be either. But it's just crazy to me how the direction of Mary's plot over the years has been formed by the male actors who've played her love interests so 🤷♀️.
Originally, Mary’s happy ending was to be happily married, and this is a period drama, not real life. And with S6CS being the original ending of the franchise, it does frustrate me that these films have undone things that were supposedly the original ending (“original” does kinda have to be in quotes there, because technically speaking, the show was only planned to be three seasons at one point lmao - one that would have had a happy ending with Matthew, btw). But that Christmas special was presented to us actually as the “goodbye, and I have to say that I feel like I’ve lucked out with who my favorites are because I would be distraught if they had destroyed their happy ending (bad harvest).
If Mary’s divorced Henry, then I would prefer that the focus of her storyline not be on that, but rather on her personal character development that encompasses the whole franchise. Her relationship with Matthew had helped her grow as a person, and after his death she notes that, and also she feels like she cannot be the better woman that she was than when she was with him. And here it’s not just because her relationship with him was a romance and that he is a man, but more so that she was able to love another person. We see that she does care about other people, like Anna and Carson, but it’s through loving Matthew that she’s able to grow.
Being that this is literally the grand finale, I would appreciate an emphasis on Mary’s original arc, and I feel like that what would actually be feminist, showing her growth, which was fostered by her late first husband originally.
But also, I don’t think that her marital status with Henry necessarily negates the progress that she had made previously. Mary can girlboss without or without him anyway, it has never been contingent on his presence in the first place.
I do think we will have some good scenes between Mary and Anna in this film, which I think will demonstrate exactly how this character growth still continued through the show and into these films. And maybe we can have Mary realizing that she is still the better person that she felt like she was with Matthew, even years after his death.
So, I’m hoping that Fellowes has chosen to honor the original TV show (which yes, in turn honors Matthew, an original character of the show) and Mary’s original plot line, no matter what he’s had do to explain Henry’s absence.

TIG hinted Terry had some terminal illness subplot cut for time from season 5, hence him being at the hospital, guess they decided to fit that in this last batch.
ahhh, yeah... i am familiar with it. i suppose i've kinda carded that in the secret brain folder that says yeah, it probably won't happen but if it does, RED ALERT. haha, and here we are!
this season has a really interesting overarching theme of death, and it all happens to be people surrounding tory and kreese - tory's mom with s6a, kwon with s6b, and now, terry with s6c (i guess). cobra kai never dies, until people start dropping like flies... i will be holding space for that narrative. i'm holding space for a lot of things right now, anon. haha.
#in the words of a wise tumblrina: i will take a well written tragedy over a shitty happy ending.#if it supports the narrative and the themes of the story... i will take it! and i will appreciate it!#patience is an important virtue if you want to enjoy this show. Despite the fact I'm fairly indifferent to Mary/Henry as a ship, I'm actually kinda peeved that twice Mary's storyline has been dictated by things outside of Fellowes' control (i.e. the male actors' playing her husband). And as someone who has always felt like S6CS was the true ending of of DA and the movies are just an add-on, this really irritates me that what was supposed to be Mary happy ending is likely undone. I would prefer for there to be something organic for her instead of Fellowes being forced.
With the first film, I remember how many of us were very concerned about if Brendan would be willing to do it or not, and being worried that A/B's happy ending might be undone. So I can easily put myself into the shoes of the Mary/Henry shippers and I feel bad for them, and count my blessings that Brendan (and Joanne) have stuck it out.
I mean maybe Henry is just off again like in DA: ANE, but for the final hurrah it's kinda hard for me to wrap my head around that Mary "And I Definitely Do Not Want a Divorce" Crawley likely is ending up that way. Whether or not Henry's a "wet lettuce" or not (and again... kinda cruel to people who liked his character imho).
Who knows, maybe this will make the tone of the final film more serious like the TV show, idk.
Matthew Goode has confirmed that he won't be in the anticipated third Downton Abbey film, The Grand Finale, adding that it's probably a "good thing" his character Henry Talbot won't be anywhere to be seen.
Speaking to Radio Times magazine in next week's issue ahead of the release of Netflix's Department Q, the actor was asked why he wasn't in the second film and isn't billed as being in the third.
He revealed: "I was unavailable for the second because I was doing The Offer. Then [for the third] I was shooting this. But I also buggered my knee, and I had to have an operation.
"That takes weeks to get over, so I was never going to be able to do it. And let’s face it, he was edging towards becoming a bit of a wet lettuce. So maybe it’s a good thing."

Alterations in neurotrophic functions (ie. proliferation, migration, and survival of brain cells), either due to age, genetic background, or other factors, has been suggested to contribute to neurodegeneration and mood disorders. Several lines of evidence show that shifting the balance between neurogenesis (ie. formation of new neurons) and neurodegeneration (ie. loss of existing neurons and neural connections) is what ultimately drives progressive and debilitating neurological problems like dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Also, it appears that the microenvironment of the dentate gyrus (DG) in neurodegenerative conditions has become adverse for maintaining greater levels of neurogenesis, mainly because brain cell survival is believed to depend on the surrounding microenvironment. In Alzheimer’s disease, DG neuroproliferation is actually increased but newly born neurons do not mature. It has been shown that neurotrophic factors similar to Peptide 6c can prevent both natural and experimentally caused brain cell death and maintain cellular maturation [1].
The hippocampus is the region of the brain responsible for forming spatial working memories, which is integrates and stores behaviorally relevant spatial cues and is a fundamental constituent of cognition [2]. Recent literature shows that both newly born immature and mature neurons have advantages to be recruited into patterns of new memory networks and are necessary for complex forms of hippocampal-mediated learning [3]–[5]. Unfortunately, the hippocampus is particularly vulnerable to neurodegeneration and hippocampus memory impairments are reported as the earliest symptom of dementia .Therefore, peptide based therapeutic regeneration using compounds such as peptide 6c to enrich the biochemical microenvironment in brain tissue could be the most successful approach to combat neurodegeneration and associated disorders
Several studies have already reported the specific role of particular families of neurotrophic factors, such as the neurotrophins and
Peptide 6c can easily cross the blood brain barrier and is relatively stable metabolically [13]. In fact, peptide 6c is much more stable than its parent molecule because it does not contain any sites for proteases in blood or the gastrointestinal tract (ie. enzymes that break down proteins). Moreover, when given peripherally or intranasally, this peptide 6c is effective and free of adverse effects that are seen in the full-length CNTF protein. Multiple studies have observed the absence of any unwanted weight fluctuations or abnormal locomotor activity in peptide 6c treated individuals. Importantly, peptide 6c has been shown to reliably increase cerebral blood flow, which is a crucial metric for assessing neurotrophic activity in general (Fig. 1).
It appears that Peptide 6c enhanced neurogenesis by promoting the maturation of early progenitor cells through partial inhibition of their proliferation. In other studies, more advanced experiments have been able to discriminate the effect of peptide 6c on both cell proliferation and cell survival. Ultimately, however, it appears that peptide 6c increases the number of neurons that can participate in the networks supporting information processing in the hippocampus. Researchers observed that peptide 6c increased gene expression of the immature neuronal marker DCX suggesting an early neuronal fate determination of newborn cells. By analyzing the gene expression of the mature neuronal marker, NeuN, scientists confirmed re-direction of newborn cells into neurons as there was a strong increase of total neurogenesis in individuals treated with peptide 6c. Overall, these findings suggest that peptide 6c treatment positively influences different aspects of neurogenesis (ie, early neuron commitment, differentiation and survival of progenitor rcells in the adult hippocampus). Importantly, researchers also observed increased gene expression of specific genes accounting for functional integration of new cells into the hippocampal circuitry [3] and thus provide a biological substrat

The SMS solution over SGd interface

The Short Message Service (SMS) is a store and forward service. Messages are first sent to an entity called the Short Message Service Center (SMSC) and then forwarded to the receivers.
If the receivers are not connected, the messages will be saved in the SMSC first, and the network will contact the SMSC and forward the SMS when the receiver becomes available.
SMS is delivered in LTE through several methods, this article will focus on one of the functions introduced in NB-IoT: the SMS over SGd interface.
SGd interface
Diameter protocol was introduced to transfer SMS between MME and SMSC.
The SGd interface is exactly the diameter-based interface, used for signaling between the MME and the SMSC to support short message services. SCTP is used as the transport protocol.
SMS over SGd interface
Based on the SMS over SGd interface, MME can directly manage and control SMS services instead of going through MSC, receiving SMS subscription information from subscribers through the S6a interface.
The MME can directly send and receive short messages through the SGd interface. The SMSC can receive routing information needed for managing short message services through the S6c interface.
This solution can simplify the procedure and accelerate the transmission speed to lower the energy consumption of terminals.
When UE can not support VoLTE or under the circumstance without IMS core network, subscribers can still send and receive messages through this SMS over SGd interface in LTE network.
