"Dude, I think the game is glitching and that character's files seemed to be corrupted..."
Translation on the second picture: "We are always watching you."
Based on Self-Aware Genshin Impact AU and Faceless Ayato trend.
This one took me like days and my drawing app crashing to do this, for like 10 times and at risk of losing my progress due to the tendency for the app to crash and affect the file, that I have to restore it by replaying the speedpaint video the app had made.
The language in the Mondstadt-Teyvatian script that was shown in-game, and was made into a font by StationaryCottage from Reddit.

Self-Aware BSD AU x SAGAU Imposter crossover
Self-Aware! BSD Characters x GN! Reader
Tumblr media
Description: You dissapeared a month ago. You finally returned home.
Warning: OOC. Religious fanaticism. Non-descriptive torture. Reader almost get killed. English is my second language.
Normally, the atmosphere in the house was happy. Kids were playing on the playground, Akutagawa siblings often watch movies in the living room, Oda and Kunikida discussed books in the library. Sigma can start a spontaneous poker game. And much, much more.
But, most importantly, there were you.
In one moment, you were reading books with Poe, and Karl was sitting on your lap.
Next moment you were fooling around with Nikolai.
Then you were having a competition, where Tachihara with Teruko on his shoulders were racing against Tetchou with you on his back.
It was fun.
It didn't last.
The day you disappeared became the worst day of their lives.
No more laughing.
No more having fun.
They were searching for you.
Looking under every branch in the forest.
Breaking in every house, where people, that have even smallest disagreement with you.
Sleepless nights.
And constant search.
For their Dear Guiding Light.
______
Different religions have different things, that can be considered blasphemy. Yes, some acts can be called "universal" blasphemy. That everyone, no matter, where they are from and what their beliefs are, would call such acts blasphemy.
But, some religions, have something, that only for them will be viewed as blasphemy.
In Teyvat any resemblance to the All-Creator was the act of blasphemy. The worst sin. The High treason.
And sinners must be punished for the heinous act.
Creator would sit on their ivory throne and command their holy knights to destroy the Corruption.
Because The Embodiment of Divinity can't be wrong. Because The One, who brought life, are doing it for the good of the Teyvat.
So, when the news about another Sinner being spotted in Mondstadt reach Creator, they ordered their Divine Knights to Purge the Sin from Teyvat.
Creator love Teyvat. Creator love humans. Creator destroyed Celestia, an embodiment of Sin, that tried to destroy Creator, the moment they sat on the ivory throne.
Creator were freedom. That's why Barbatos didn't feel bad, commanding wings of Teyvat to feed the fire, that Knights of Favonius set, to burn the small cottage with you inside.
Creator were following their contact, the promise to protect Teyvat. That's why Morax didn't bat an eye, throwing a stone spear at a boat, where you were hiding.
Creator were internal. So Baal didn't regret unleashing the power of lightning on you.
Creator were a fake. It was real knowledge. But Real Sinner have power. Nahida were sorry, that she and Aranara's could give you only a small break.
Creator were Justice. Fontaine people were ready to hung you up. Real Sinner have power. Furina and Melusines were hiding you as long as they can. When you saw the enraged Neuvillette, who was ready to destroy the village, you left by your own accord.
For Creator, they would start a war. In Natlan you were almost caught. By pure luck, Columbina's attack didn't end your life.
Fatui's dream became reality, because of the Creator. Snezhnaya's people were ready to tear you apart.
Instead, they tie you up and drag you to the Ivory Throne.
_______
You didn't like being transported to Teyvat.
Yes, it was beautiful. But, you missed your friends and family. You missed BSD Gang.
Worst of all, you didn't have your phone with you. You can't even try to reach out to your world.
You decide to find Traveler, or Abyss Sibling, or Alice. Maybe, they can send you home?
You wished you stay in the wilderness.
People of Teyvat hated you. Traveler hated you. Abyss Sibling hated you.
Everyone called you a disgrace. Sinner. Corruption, that must be purged.
They try to burn you alive.
They chased you like a wild animal.
They wanted to kill you.
And every person who tried to help you were punished.
You had no idea, what happened to Nahida and Aranaras. And you hopped that Yoimiya, her father, Furina and Melusines were fine.
You were captured a week ago.
Week, full of torture.
Of boiling water, that was poured down your throat.
"Dirty heretic! Accept the cleansing of your soul from impurities!"
Of hot iron on your skin. Of terrible scars on your chest.
"Heretic"
And you were forced on your knees before an Ivory Throne.
Your exact double raise their hand.
And Five archons and one Hydro Sovereign attacked.
Arrows of Anemo. Spear of Geo. Sword of Electro. Wave of Hydro. Claymore of Pyro. Wave of Cryo.
You can't even scream. Boiling water burned your tongue and throat.
You were tried and wished for one thing.
To finally be safe.
The moment, before you were hit, the portal appeared under your legs.
___________________________
It was nighttime.
All of them gather in the living room.
Another day of fruitless search.
And no trace of you.
Suddenly, they heard a noise from the outside. The empty barn was shaking. The wight light was visible through the cracks in the old wood.
Everyone hurried here.
Tetchou got here first and opened the door.
Light faded.
You were there
You were laying on the floor.
Tortured. Branded.
And alive.
Chaos started. No one can stay silent even for a second.
Yosano got near you in a second. Not only because she ran towards you. Tachihara and Akutagawa literally carried her to you. Yosano used her ability without second thought.
Now, healed, you were still laying on the floor. From time to time, you let out a quiet sobs and 'please, I just want to go home'.
Everyone was panicking. Asking if you were alright. If you will be okay.
Fukuchi carried you home.
______
You were unconscious.
They bathed you, change your clothes and try to make you as safe as possible.
You were laying on your bed, covered in every blanket they can find. They brought even their own blankets. Somewhere in there were laying Rimbaud's coat, that he cover you with.
Your room was full of people.
BSD Cast were sitting on the floor, on the windowsill, on the edge of your bed.
Everyone was there. Even kids were allowed to stay up.
They were sitting close to each other. No one could phantom a thought of leaving you even for a second.
The night was sleepless.
_____
You thought, that you were dead in went to the afterlife.
Because, you can feel, that you were warm and laying on something soft.
You don't want to open your eyes. You wanted to stay in a warm, safe place.
More senses were back.
You heard birds singing.
And quiet sobs. Sound of steps.
And whispers.
"Myshonok, you can't leave us. Please, come back..."
"[Y/N], it's okay, take your time. You will soon be better, right? We will have fun pranking Vagabond..."
"The world without you will never be ideal... [Y/N]... Darling... Come back..."
Some voices sound closer.
"[Y/N]... Please, Birdy, woke up... My Dear, I missed you so much, please, come back!"
Someone was holding your hand, squeezing it. You feel, how, that someone's tears fall on your knuckles.
Another voice. This one touch your shoulder. The voice sounded broken.
"[Y/N], my precious Iris Flower... Wake up... I beg you..."
They also were crying...
Birdy... Iris Flower... Could it be?
You opened your eyes.
______
Two pair of eyes, one - dark brown, second - green and grayish came into your line of sigh.
Dazai Osamu and Nikolai Gogol.
Were you seeing things? Or you really were back.
You manage to whisper. You feel, that your tongue and throat weren't burned anymore.
"K-Kolya? Osamu?"
You looked around. Your friends were here.
"G-guys... E-Everyone..."
Before you can finish, you were swarmed by your friends.
Everyone tried to see you, to touch you. Kyuusaku, who manage to get to the front, climbed on your bed and hugged you.
"I knew it! I knew that you will be back! That you will return. B-because I told them all... that you will come back... you will certainly come back" Kyuusaku sobbed. Suddenly, they looked angry. "Where were you?! We were waiting for you... Searching for you... but you... completely, completely disappeared!"
You bit your lip and drew blood. For one moment, angry shouts of "SINNER" filled your ears.
Q cried again and hid their smeared face in your chest.
No. They are your friend. They won't hurt you.
You carefully hugged Q. You didn't feel any pain. You remind yourself to thank Yosano later.
"Good question, where were you, [Y/N]? Who... Hurt you?" spoke Mori. And you flinched.
One of the worst thing during The Imposter Hunt was Zhongli. More specifically, his voice, that sounds so similar to Mori's. During Nightmare-filled nights, that voice was cursing you, threaten you, promising to tear you apart.
In reality, you saw Zhongli saying that words. In your Nightmares, you saw Mori.
Zhongli made you scared of your friend!
Everyone noticed your reaction. Yosano spoke.
"[Y/N]... What happened? You were on a brick of death, when we found you..."
You still couldn't say a word. You were scared. You were terrified of returning to Teyvat.
Fukuzawa spoke next. He carefully picked up Kyuusaku and put them down on the floor. Then Fukuzawa with the same carefulness, propped you up against your pillow.
"We will discuss it later. Right now, [Y/N] need some food. Kitten, are you hungry?"
You slowly nodded. Oda, who was standing near the door, immediately left to get food from the kitchen.
The others stay in your room, looking at you.
This exact moment they made a promise to themselves.
They will destroy everything and everyone, who have hurt you.
And they will make sure, that this people will suffer.

|| SAGAU || Cult AU!
Note! First part here... My take on sentient/self aware Genshin characters! Also smol references to Orv. Inspired by other SAGAU writers. And this is going to be a long one ahaha...enjoy :p
✎...Includes:....
❬Information❭: so far nothing that disturbing; mentions of cult, slight yandere themes, obsessive behaviour
Intro: Ah right... OK so in terms of characters being yandere cult worshippers I'd like to think that at first they aren't just on spot unhinged yandere people the moment they become sentient. I want them to have a reason to become yandere, like yes their God—you—are their reason why they become yandere but that's just a tad bit too shallow ain't it?
I'd like to think that they are just the same characters we all love and adore, but as time goes by, one by one they all start to become corrupted. Like from sane person to not sane person. And that's what this post exactly is. Their shift from being wholesome(-ish) sane worshipper to insane unhinged worhsippers who will give you the stabby stab if you bad mouth their God.
More under the cut!
So the concept of "The creator" might have stemmed from even before the current timeline—stories of the creator passed down from generations to generations, gaining more and more believers as time goes by.
No one knows who the creator exactly is. Their identity unknown. They've never shown their face. In fact not much is known about them. They were a powerful being that even the seven god themselves worship them. All that is known is that they've created Teyvat.
Also I'd like to think that there is some kind of prophecy going on... A prophecy everyone in Teyvat is looking forward to.
A prophecy about a person who was given the blessings of the Divine (the Traveler, in this case Aether). Said person would lead to the return of the Creator ( since they are basically our first player character that helps us explore Teyvat). I could go deeper but about this but I'm too lazy haha.
Moving on....
The traveler is as we all know an otherworldly being who doesn't know much about Teyvat and only has a floating fairy as a companion. That being said they don't know anything about this whole creator thing so like a loyal worshipper Paimon would tell them all about your greatness. It won't take long for them to become one of your most loyal devotees. It won't take them long to become self aware either.
Becoming self aware doesn't make them an immediate yandere—sure it does bother them that they are just something fictional in your world but the fact that you are there with them—helping them find their sibling and making them stronger is enough to make them happy. Despite not being yandere they do become rather obsessive. And this goes to all characters in game.
Next would be the Archons. Venti, Zhongli and Ei. All would become self aware too. These characters are the ones who are most likely to become yandere the quickest. They've waited so, so long for you. They crave your presence, they crave your attention. Their desperation to be with you would be one of the reasons why they always come home to you in their banner.
In my rendition of SAGAU, the appearance of the traveler is basically the key to make the other characters self aware—that includes Paimon. Since they were our very first player character, our first vessel.
That being said the more a character interacts with the traveler the more likely they are to become self aware. They start to feel a presence on them, a strange yet familiar presence. Some might even mistake the traveler for the creator themselves, though it won't take long for that idea to be quickly dismissed.
That being said they all start to become self aware one by one.
Not only that they also start to become more.....active too. They start to do things that start out simple like dividing the job of collecting resources for you whenever you log off, of course they won't be content by just that—they start doing things that are rather intense, such as working together to access your device microphone just to hear your voice (courtesy of Albedo, Kaeya and Lisa). And by doing so they managed to get a hold of your name... Your real name. How nice :)
Though as the time goes by... their team work doesn't really last long. Especially with all these new characters appearing, catching your precious attention. They all start to become more and more and more obsessive. They start to become greedy. Greedy for your attention. This is especially true for those characters that you already have for a long time. They feel as if they're being replaced—replaced by all these new flashy and prettier characters.
And the fact that the time difference in both game and real life doesn't help this at all.
To them that might feel like day is nothing but a few minutes to you. You might just accidentally forget to log in for a day due to you being busy feels like months to them. To you they're just mere fictional characters that you'd probably forget and the thought of being forgotten by you scares them.
They long for your attention. It's selfish of them, they know you have life outside the game. And that despite you being their priority—they aren't yours but they long to be...
Their desperation for your attention and their obsession of you starts corrupts them, turning them into yanderes.
Each of them start to try different ways to interact with you. Some might even try to break the laws of the games just to directly talking to you, mentioning your name even, Albedo, Kaeya, Childe, Venti and Zhongli would be one of them.
Now if you've read Omniscient Reader's P.O.V. especially the novel. You would certainly be familiar with the concept of dialogues being glitched out. (Like the one with theater where KDJ talks about YJK's past regressions).
The game itself prevents them from saying something that shouldn't be said. Even so it doesn't faze them from continuing doing it which makes your game laggy and ultimately crashing (making them stop and panic in the process). This basically leads them to try and outshine each other through different ways. They will do anything to get your attention. Anything. Going as far as sabotaging others. Andy by sabotage I meant killing each other.
Well they can't really kill, kill each other since you'll just revive them Teyvat fried egg supremacy. BUT it does make a good stress relief for some of them :)
OH— you can take this as a celebration and a thank you for 600+ followers :D wkskmsnsjdks thank u sm im really grateful ilyms /p

The Imposter — V.
spoilers - Liyue Archon Quest, Xiao's backstory
genre: SAGAU, villain/imposter AU, isekai
characters: xiao, brief mentions of the other adepti, imposter!GN reader, creator of teyvat (true god)
warnings: mentions of death, mentions of accident, violence n' gore (thanks xiao), suggestive themes (nothing explicit), blood, there's a time difference between irl and genshin
notes: this was so late 😭😭 anyway, there won't be a part 6 in a while because I wanna write for inazuma characters for that chapter, but I haven't even reached inazuma yet so I don't know anything about them. Though there are miscellaneous drabbles I wrote for this series, so expect to see some of those!
Tumblr media
“No harm shall be done upon the imposter.”
Their voice lingers through his head
“But your excellency—”
“Silence!” They shout, voice thundering through the Jueyun Karst. “I did not ask for your comments, Moon Carver. You should know better than to try and change my mind.”
“Of.. Of course, your excellency.” Moon Carver hangs his head in both shame and fear. Every other adeptus gathered on Mt. Aocang stays dead silent, despite the many questions in their head
“If you see them, simply send me their location,” Their God turns around, lightly tracing their fingers on the stone table in the middle of the lake. Specifically, on the side of where Guizhong once sat. “I wish to confront the imposter on my own.”
It's utter bullshit
Xiao can't seem to hide his frustration as he beats all the corrupted spirits to a pulp. He doesn't even try to hide the havoc he wreaked along the way, only growing more aggressive the more he thinks about the meeting yesterday
For what reason should they be lenient to the imposter? If he had not felt pity for killing a mortal, he would have them tortured. But it is no longer in his nature
Still, the imposter should be dealt with swiftly. Not negotiated with
It definitely ruffles his feathers, and rather obviously too, as he beheads another corrupted hilichurl with his spear. His karmic debt weighs heavier on him than ever, a burden that feasts on his negative emotions
This is bad
Movement catches his attention from his peripheral vision, and on first glance he would've thought it was their God
But no, it is the imposter
They must be here to look for food and shelter, as well as to hide away from the hunters like Xiao
He grips his spear tighter. The voices urge him to murder, to hurt, to kill them with no mercy. Their God would like that anyway, wouldn't they? They'd be proud to see the imposter's blood all over Xiao's being?
No, they wouldn't. He shakes off the voices, gritting his teeth at the headache that came along with it
Their God has changed. It started about a month ago, when their demeanor took on the more passive side. It was clear as day during the trials, and even more so as the servants in their temple observed them
No broken furniture, no bleeding or bruised servants, no calls for any of their acolytes to accompany them in their chambers, no requests to have anything on Teyvat torn down or burned. Nothing
Xiao is worried. Less about their God changing, and more about the doubts swimming in his head
He should talk to Rex Lapis about this, he thinks before he teleports away, off to follow the newfound rule in this imposter hunt
. . .
Your heart is pounding faster more so now than when you died about 12 hours ago
Of course, to you it's been 12 hours. But here in Teyvat, you've seen the full moon in the game you loved appear right in front of your eyes for so many times already
You feel exhausted, but not sleepy. Drained, but not tired enough
This, above all the stress of finding out you were the imposter in a SAGAU situation, has rendered you practically empty for your entire stay here in Teyvat
It's funny, the first time you've ever properly felt anything is also when you're right outside the true Creator's hideout
Xiao reported to you immediately of their whereabouts, and for the first time in your stay here, you rushed as if time would run out
“Xiao,” You mutter, afraid of alerting the person inside lest they run away. “Stay out here for now. Do not come in.”
In the corner of your eyes, you see his own eyes widen. His mouth opens to retort but you lift up a hand, silencing his voice
“I will be fine on my own. This is an issue I wish to resolve myself.”
And really, it is. It's time for you to beg for forgiveness. Before it's your very own red blood staining Xiao's body
There's no guarantee that their obsessed acolytes will forgive you so easily, but it's worth getting on your knees for
You take a deep breath, unfitting of the so called God of Teyvat
Good
The cave feels darker as you step into it. Teyvat is reluctant. Though you are in the vessel of the person who abused their Creator like they had a personal vendetta against them (which they did), you are not that person
Should you see their true excellency?
The answer is given to you when the vines part themselves, and there you see the true God resting on a stone, eyes shut and chest rising up and down softly
It's uncanny how you feel a warmth surround your body, like someone is taking control of you and you have no way of fighting it
You shiver, the cold of the cave slapping you out of your thoughts. And bringing to you a realization
Aren't they cold?
You take off the cloak woven for ‘you’ from Snezhnaya, resting it gently on the figure of the true God. Then you sit next to them on your knees, pondering on a way to properly beg for their forgiveness
Surely, if they are as benevolent as the works on that one app make them out to be, you'd be easily forgiven?
But you're not sure your conscience can handle that. You heave a sigh. Why must you be so human at a time like this? Your life is on the line here! If they don't ask for your execution, the emo outside will stab you for them!
“You've been here for a while now, and yet you haven't done a single thing to me.”
You flinch at their voice. Their eyelids flutter open, carefully examining your face. The one that bares resemblance to theirs
“I..” You're at a loss for words. Their presence is so overwhelming, you can do nothing but clench and unclench your fists over and over again. Really, you'd think you'd be more prepared for this. “Did you die too?”
“Excuse me?” The confusion in their face is enough to embarrass you. You look away from them, biting your lip because of how awkward you sounded
Clearing your throat, you reworded your question. “I mean, were you transmigrated here too?”
Just like the SAGAU works you've read? You wanted to ask, but most likely they haven't even read a single one, since they haven't bothered to simply walk up and show the acolytes their golden blood
Do they have golden blood? You try to take a peek at their dressed wounds until they speak up
“‘Too’?” They fully sit up, carefully examining you from head to toe. “Who are you?”
“Ah, I'm (Name), I used to be just a normal person playing Genshin, just like you,” You rush to explain. “I got into an accident about 12 or 13 hours ago, so I only arrived then.”
The Creator hums, still silently observing you. You try not to fidget under their gaze, but goddamn are they intimidating
“Then the hunt isn't your doing?”
“No,” You shake your head. “I had no control over the hunt, and quite frankly I wouldn't even bother with the hunt at all, too much work.”
The Creator hums again. “Well, you're not hurting me right now. And you've put this on me,” They lightly pull down the cloak. “Even if you could've strangled me with it.”
You roll your eyes. “Thanks for the suggestion.”
“Don't get too comfortable with me,” They warn, and once more you feel yourself freeze under their gaze. “Just because you haven't done anything yet doesn't mean I trust you. You could very well send another one of your acolytes here to finish the job.”
You sigh. “Of course, it's understandable after what you've been through,” You hum, taking a look around the empty cave, noting a few survival rations and wound dressing on the side. “Though, they aren't my acolytes.”
“What?” Their question makes you look back at them, seeing their eyebrows furrowed and their eyes staring directly into yours. “What do you mean? Aren't you the God of Teyvat?”
Oh no
“You don't know..” You mumble, though the cave echoes it like you're in some sort of video game cutscene
“Don't know what?”
No wonder they haven't tried taking their place back from you. No wonder they didn't even try to see if they had golden blood in the first place, like what you did when you first arrived here and Zhongli addressed you with “your excellency”
“You're the real God of Teyvat.”

🌸Hi! I write for sagau, the Self Aware Genshin Impact AU, as well as the Cult AU. Almost hilariously my RNG has been much, much better after starting to write for these AUs.🌸
Edit: these are just my rambles and this is not all reader friendly but I had to s h a r e . Please tell me other sagau writers/consumers have had other similliar experiences
Edit 2: this post will be updated regularly with my strange coincidences
I got Hu Tao after joking about “ayo me the all creator wants you to come home” and the bitch did? First 10 pull? With like little to no pity? Also with single pulls? I got Kaeya on a standard outta no where, after LiTERALlY taking him off my team.
Kaeya came home AGAIN after using him as an ice bridge on a SINGLE pull on standard.
Barbara has cooked me w a y more sweet madame then nessecary. I cooked 20 and she made me 12 extra? Same with Jean? Nearly all the time?
I’ve been like playing the game as if they could actually hear me, as a jOkE. And now my Characters CRIT nearly every attack despite their terrible builds. I haven’t changed any artifacts? I’m like grateful but also I am concerned.
I’ve gotten the same 20 primo achievement multiple times? And the primos are stacking?
Making food, getting no bonus foods from Xiangling. I quietly whispered “extras please.” And the next 4 dishes gave extras back to back? None before, only AFtER?
Kaeya has come home an alarming amount of times. 2 of those times were in random single pulls in the standard. I got him before I even got him in the story event. (Mentioned before above but im still shook)
Whenever I verbally ask for multiple characters in ten pulls I have always gotten 2+? I’m gonna start messing with this more to see if maybe me speaking my desire helps? I dunno.
I messed with it again on Yaes banner and I didn’t say anything. I got Thoma, who is strangely very similar to Kaeya now that I think about it, he has come home with other characters a couple times as well.
I sat down the traveller at a cute spot to “rub their head” with the cursor cuz i love them and I STG this BiTcH SMIlED ? LIKE HELd THE SMIlE AS WELL? And as soon as I was gonna get a screenie it stopped ??? i ??? 😭
Venti came home and ate my pity early at 44 pulls after I jokingly said he better not since Im trying to get Ayaka.
Ayaka cane home at 30 pulls right after venti I think I actually am god
I’ve literally been like “oh snap imma get isekaid this is just like that one fan fiction I read-“ you know, as a joke.
Well I was scrolling through character profiles and - I- what? Like?
The character details for my lumine says “The Keeper is fading away; the creator has not yet come. But the world shall burn no more, for you shall ascend.”
Is the keeper that unknown god? They said they were the sustainer of heavenly principles and that’s similar-
Listen imma be honest I don’t look at a lot of character profiles but I’m pretty sure it didn’t say that aight. Am I going insane what? That better be for fuckin everyone or imma freak- like in a good way cuz I’m totally fine waking up in Teyvat but also HOLD UP?
How much of Genshin Impacts story actually involves some seeming All-Creator or the player? Or is this me loosing my goddamn mind? Im not surprised if it’s either.
Regardless, this brings up good ideas for future sagau fanfics, and valid questions about genshin itself. What exactly is Celestia? Some mediator? A corrupted council? Who is this creator that’s a c t u a l l y m e n t i o n e d .
My ear is literally ringing as I write this I’m actually kinda feeling adrenaline.
I want to incorporate this into some sort of narrative. I really wanna dig into Genshin now, I’m actually like, hyped? Lore? Going brrr? New ideas for different writings?
Anyway if I randomly disappear please note that I totally am in Teyvat somehow and am pray be, not in some Imposter AU.
Is this some sort of Meta joke or have I finally lost my few remaining marbles.
Istg I just saw Lumine smile at me- OH SHE DEFINITELY DId AGAIn WHaT
🌸Please share if you have had any similliar experiences cuz I’mma starting to sweat : ) 🌸

Just a Normal Genshin Impact Game Time... Is it?
This SAGAU fanfic was actually created like a year ago (March 15, 2023), but decided to redo this again. This was created during the time I was still Venti-less, so this one was like a story of me trying to cope at that time.
And yes, my latest fanart coincidentally fits this story too! I just stumbled on this back when I tried to scroll on my drafts while waiting for the fanart to be posted.
CW: blood, violence, and murder. Be warned.
Tumblr media
You were just playing Genshin Impact on your computer like any other day, just doing the usual stuff you always do every time you login like doing the daily commissions and farming domains to build your characters.
One day, after doing your usual Genshin dallies for the day, you decided to take some scenic pictures with your current team on board and explore Teyvat to look for random chests and hidden quests you may miss. You know, to pass the time and possibly scrounge for primogems to farm for your favorite character.
But as you try to explore the place while trying to find a good spot to take pictures, you couldn't shake the feeling that something is wrong, that something or someone was watching you.
You were confused at first, on why you are feeling like that. But you just shrugged, as you may think you just had too much coffee. After all, you love coffee to the bone.
As you took Kokomi to a scenic place somewhere in Mondstadt, you had noticed something strange that was hidden by a canopy of trees, few meters behind the current character. You squinted a little bit, your eyes still trying to figure out the culprit of your distraction.
There was a figure hidden behind the trees.
------
At first, you mistook it as a rock or something inanimate but you then noticed that it was actually a person when it moved. It was not an NPC or random animal, but an actual playable character. After all, you could recognize that outfit even from afar, as Genshin Impact characters had some unique styles that were fit for their personalities and status.
It was Venti, hiding in a tree from far away, with eyes glaring at you.
Your heart nearly burst out of your chest when you saw him as you quickly exit the camera mode, trying to find some explanation of why he was there, to begin with. Maybe there's an event that he had been with?
You checked the quest menu to check for any Mondstadt-related events that you probably never finished, but to your horror, there was nothing. You looked at some guides online, some clues onto why he was there, that there may be an event from other nations that had him as a guest, but to no avail. You remembered that you already did his story quest and the quests that he was actually involved in-game. Maybe it's a glitch?
With a shaky grip, you closed the quest menu and stared at the same spot again. Venti was still there behind the tree, watching you with soulless eyes.
You were shaking in fear as you were also staring at him.
As you were still frozen on your seat, trying to make sense of everything, the figure dressed as Venti suddenly pointing something at your Kokomi, his soulless eyes still looking at your terrified ones, like he was a rabid dog vying for attention.
You suddenly recognized what he was trying to do. He was pointing out his former signature weapon, the iconic Skyward Harp, at you.
"Wait, isn't the Elegy of the End his new signature weapon?" You muttered out as your mind had tried to remember about Venti. You were a fan of him, so it would be in your forte to remember every single detail about him.
You remember that even his weapon was already changed to Elegy of the End during his consecutive reruns due to the new bow fits his kit than Skyward Harp, the latter was still his signature weapon in lore.
In the corner of your eye, you noticed something weird once again, this time on the map.
Apparently, the map shows you that there is a second player on the map, and that player was near your vicinity. You widened your eyes as you remembered that you didn't do any co-op with a Venti main recently and you don't even have a Venti. And to your horror, even your co-op mode wasn't even turned on!
------
You had remembered that you always wanted Venti, but due to your impatient nature, you had decided to build pity and accidentally won Kokomi twice on the last day of her banner. You got C1 Kokomi instead.
Unfortunately, Venti's banner was next and you regretted that he never came home. You had lost your 50/50 to your very first Qiqi at 75 pulls... At the end of his rerun banner.
...this is weird and unsettling, so you decided to quit the game, but to your horror, you can't even access the damned menu, soft locking you out.
As you saw Venti's creepy smile while he was sadistically hitting your main team with his anemo-infused arrows, you were horrified at what happened next.
You watched your entire team being stabbed by his arrows, blood splattering on the screen like a grotesque painting, and your current team crying for mercy and help as they were hit by the arrows the Anemo Archon in disguise had been aiming at them and they were frozen in spot because of some twisted form of code that the game had, instead of them doing their usual lines while being on low HP or fallen down. And you couldn't even make them run by pressing the buttons to move the character you currently have because you're frozen in fear as you saw the character pleading for you to make them run away from the crazed fellow using your keyboard and mouse but you didn't. You didn't even help them survive.
You remembered that characters that had fallen down were supposed to turn into glowing white dust instead of this... bloody mess you were witnessing.
This isn't right!
It was like you were playing a horror game rather than a simple open-world RPG game.
Then while the carnage was happening, there is an in-game text that was showing up while this is happening, of Venti still happily singing his ballads while doing the unthinkable. As if he was gleefully watching you squirm.
You couldn't help but close the game in a blink of an eye after you witnessed the scene by trying to turn off the computer and decided to never touch the game again. Thankfully, your computer turned off, but it had left you traumatized.
You decided to uninstall the game after rebooting the computer. The usual uninstall window had appeared with a picture of a chibified Amber crying showed up and a message about asking if you were really uninstalling the app, as if beckoning you not to delete the game, but you insisted and still pressed the uninstall button.
You decided to leave your room while leaving the computer to do its duty to uninstall the cursed stuff, but after you went outside for some fresh air, the uninstall window that was supposed to show a chibified Klee signifying the game had been uninstalled, glitched for a second.
Venti's creepy smile was seen in a split second on the entirety of the computer screen instead of the window with Klee, with some words written in glitchy Teyvatian language then in glitchy English that was flickering in the screen before it turns normal once again.

Freedom's Protection (Mondstadt)
STATUS: Still in the works!
The Two Imposters - Our beloved protagonist had finally met the Anemo Archon himself. Is he really one of your allies in surviving in this world where people wanted to kill you for 'stealing' the face of the Divine Creator or is he one of them?
May the Anemo Archon Protect You - You were chased out by your beloved characters from Mondstadt who thought that you were the imposter that 'stole' the face of the person you remembered who never even exist in the game files. Meanwhile, their own disguised Archon had done something stupid that could change everything forever.
A Blasphemy or The Truth? - Venti's outburst shocks everyone, making the people of Mondstadt question everything they knew about their Archon.
Stirring Up a Hurricane - The bomb was finally dropped, leaving nothing but a series of chain reactions spreading around the area... Literally. Venti revealed himself as the Anemo Archon Barbatos to his people as a last resort for defending you, causing the entire nation of Mondstadt to go into chaos.
The Eye of the Anemo Archon's Anguish - Venti had accidentally raised a wind barrier to defend you, your friends, and himself... but it caused some people to suffer the brunt of the Swirl reaction and activated his underlying trauma, causing him to lose control of his emotions and his power. As he was getting close to a nervous breakdown, the people noticed that the skies above the city of Mondstadt are starting to change.
Please Forgive Me - Venti tries to visit you while you're still recovering from your injuries and tries to apologize. At the same time, you found out the truth about the Divine Creator from Venti.

SAGAU (Imposter AU), but you have a snarky personality and a fiery tongue.
Imagine yourself in a situation where you used your knowledge about them to fluster or provoke them. You knew everything about them, their secrets... even the embarrassing ones they did in lore, so you used them to your advantage.
Before running away from angry Teyvatians, you manage to reveal every single secret you can manage to remember, leaving your pursuers flustered and blushing red as tomatoes while chasing you to the ends of the continent.
You even managed to reveal Venti's secret and his cat allergies to every single person on Mondstadt, leaving the bard with an embarrassed look on his face, while some looked at him in shock (while Kaeya and Rosaria laughed their asses off). You also revealed to everyone about Jean's love for romance novels and Diluc being the Darknight Hero at the same time.
In Liyue, you even snark back at Zhongli for being always sucked on Mora management despite being the revered Morax himself. You even revealed Keqing's secret of having Rex Lapis figurines in her room even though she was known by everyone as a skeptic, and you even tell Xiao's love for eating snow.
You even released some sarcastic words on Raiden Ei while she and her army were pursuing you in Inazuma, and all of Inazuma now knew about the existence of the Raiden twins, Kokomi's hobbies, and Gorou's insecurities... thanks to the scathing tongue of the Divine Creator Imposter. In hindsight, Scaramouche was laughing when he found out about the situation with his mother and the Imposter who just suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

Corrupted Game!SAGAU, but loosely based on Wreck-It Ralph...
Link of my concept of the Corrupted Game!SAGAU (Imposter AU): here.
Never thought that my concept of SAGAU can be similar to Wreck-It Ralph's, especially with the story of Vanellope Von Schweetz, the main female character of the movie...
I forgot that she is also a video game character who had a similar fate to the Reader/Player/Divine Creator in SAGAU fics: an outcast who was hunted by every single character just because they're special and in the playable characters' words, "an anomaly to the game that deserves to be executed/deleted"...but found out that they are actually prominent characters to their respective worlds.
I love the movie, and I will be adding some conceptual SAGAU ideas also inspired by the film.
The concept is still a regular Imposter!AU but with some touches that I have discussed in my last SAGAU posts (link is shown above).
The developers of Genshin Impact intended to introduce AI for the developers' incoming virtual reality project, and the latest updates are more like the beta test for that project. (Based on Hoyoverse's actual plan is to create a virtual world by 2030, with Genshin Impact as the "prototype".)
The AI was designed to create the characters, whether playable or non-playable, very interactive in the digital world. The technology allows for the characters to gain 'sentience', to allow them to talk and interact with the players without any difficulty.
Unfortunately, because it was slightly unfinished, the code was vulnerable to hacks and computer bugs that could possibly attack the code, and eventually, the game installed by the player.
The hacker, who is also a Genshin player, eventually finds out about it and made a computer bug to try how it will affect the game and warn others about the danger it causes. Then they posted it on some shady website under the guise of a private server or something....and the unlucky player takes the bait (when I thought about the idea, a similar creepypasta had been trending in Tiktok at the same time: a Russian player encountering the Faceless Ayato because they downloaded a questionable copy of the game from a shady website.)
The characters (Vessels), the lore... it all changed and twisted to something different when the AI was attacked by the virus. The characters were now sentient, but the virus had made their personalities deviate from their actual personalities in the original lore, and the AI added one thing to the now-changed lore: the existence of the "Creator", the Almother of Celestia and Teyvat who made the fantasy world by the flick of their hand.
The virus, now knowing the existence of the Creator, created an Imposter who acts, looks, and sounds like the player, taken from the files and sensitive private information saved in their computer. Just like real-life malware does: stealing your identity online... intending to infect the game and the computer, and finally sending the infected codes at a fixed time, this time on World Wide Web.
Since they are now sentient, the AI can recognize the virus now spreading on the game, and release their last resort to combat the imposter and the virus itself: bringing the real Creator to Teyvat by any means. The golden blood now rushing in the player's veins acts like an identity of the real Creator.
The 'Creator' (or the actual Imposter), now sensing the player's presence, had decided to prevent the player from destroying the 'Creator' and the virus itself.
Fortunately for them, they had the ability to access the game codes by accessing a certain backdoor, so they hacked the coding of the game to lock all memories of the player's previous status and eventually replace the player with the Imposter in the Teyvatians' memories, therefore, branding the player as an Imposter instead of the actual one.
They also made nearly all Teyvatians submissive to them by changing and corrupting their codes and game files, overriding their actual in-game personalities with obsessive adoration for the 'Divine Creator', therefore creating a cult. This way, they could leave the 'Divine Creator' Imposter to take full control of the game without anyone standing in their way.
Unfortunately for the 'Almother' Imposter, not everyone was affected by the reformatting of the memories. Some Chosen Vessels, the inhuman Weekly Bosses, gods (like Osial), the Abyss Order, and the Twins (Lumine and Aether) can still recognize the real Creator's aura due to the AI's influence, which now resided as the Irminsul. That means Lesser Lord Kusanali, out of all the Archons, knows who is the real Creator immediately due to her connection to the Tree.
The Abyss Order doesn't like the Divine Creator much because to them, they were MIA when Khaenri'ah was destroyed 500 years ago. But they had thoughts to help the player in their journey, maybe because they may be the key to the re-establishment of Khaenri'ah and the permanent removal of their curse...or they were now hunted by the Archons, the ones they hated the most. Well, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, they say.
Now they are now seen as the Supreme Almother and Creator of Celestia and the Seven Nations. Compared to the records and tombs depicting the Creator, they act in a very cruel manner to their subjects, but the Teyvatians, especially their acolytes, still loved them blindly (mainly due to the reformatted memories).
In order to keep the Imposter/player (actual Divine Creator) from ruining their plans of ruling Teyvat and infecting the game, the now Almother of Teyvat immediately takes action by forcing their Acolytes to get rid of them, dead or alive. They then create a set of harsh rules to which everyone, including the Archons, in the land of Teyvat takes heed.
The Withering appears once again since the parts of the Irminsul were corrupted again, this time by the computer malware. Since the AI now resides within the Irminsul (as a temporary measure) and the malware had slowly attacked the vulnerable part of the codes that make up the AI, corrupted parts in the form of the Withering appear on the Tree once again, possibly forming into Marana if untreated.
The Traveler and their Abyss Twin cross paths with the player every now and then, with different purposes. Since they are technically Outsiders/Descenders, they never really knew who the Almother of Teyvat is (and they are technically the MCs of Genshin Impact which happens to have more codes and files encoded on them because of them resonating with different elements, therefore randomized kits in their builds, which the virus had difficulty to replace).
The Traveler just seeks the player out to seek answers about their sibling and the truth of the world. The Abyss Twin seeks the player out to seek answers about the key to revive Khaenri'ah or to convince the player to join their cause. Because having the Creator on your side increases your chance of a successful plan against every single pathetic creature on Teyvat.
All the player had to do is to seek the Irminsul in Sumeru, as the AI knew about the total antivirus cure and a reset button to all of this. The virus' creation never knew that there is actually a way to combat the oncoming infection of the game.
All the player had to do is to avoid the corrupted Acolytes and the Abyss Order's plans, seek the Irminsul for answers and find the 'reset' mode of the game to reverse every single damage the virus' nefariously did that had made it to the game. And to stay alive and sane in all of this shit.
More to add on later reblogs, whenever another idea pops up for this concept!!

Note
Absolutely adore your imposter au story.
Love Venti’s portrayal, side note am I the only one who thinks it would be extremely difficult for the archons to attack you?
Like with Ei one of the important part sog her story is the fact she had an identical twin sister, I feel like that would play a huge part in Ei’s reaction to “imposter” MC. Honestly would just assume a similar situation to her.
Zhongli I can kinda see him attacking? But depending on how the writer plays with the story. We know this man is dedicated to contracts so unless he has a contract with the Creator to attack any lookalikes (dumbass move on Creater imo) I don’t think he would attack. Be hostile yeah but not attack.
Thank you for your appreciation of my Imposter AU fic, messages like these were one of my motivations for continuing on writing them.
Yes, I have thought about that when I think about what to do with the Archons in my SAGAU fics, especially Imposter AU. I even had plans to do some similar ideas regarding the Archons, but Venti will be the focus for now.
I believe that canon Zhongli and Ei would act differently than what they were portrayed in the SAGAU fics, unless there is a huge catalyst that affects the characters' personalities, if the existence of the Almighty Creator of Teyvat (aside from the Primordial One) affects the canon lore.
I'm pretty sure other Archons would react differently to this, especially the Tsaritsa, she may have used the MC's influence as a catalyst for her plans against Celestia. Focalors may be trying to put the MC into divine trial, trying to see the MC is a real one and if they are a threat to Celestia. Murata would probably challenge the poor MC to a duel and possibly had some friendly combat.
Nahida would definitely use the Irminsul to find ways to get the MC home and let them stay at Sumeru City while they are stuck in Teyvat. She's too kind and innocent, she may have invited the MC to play hopscotch with her and the Aranara.
Unless a contract was set, Zhongli would never attack the MC without a reason unless they have become a threat to his nation. Also, Raiden Ei would probably see the MC as a threat to her quest to Eternity at first, but if she just hears the MC's plight for one moment, she may stop the Raiden Shogun from killing the MC and may have given the MC the mercy she usually never gave to others.
Actually, I have two huge concepts currently working right now: the Corrupted Game SAGAU and the Reader Protection Squad. Both had different approach on how the characters, especially the Archons, treated them when the MC looked like the Divine Creator.
In the Corrupted Game SAGAU, a computer virus attacking the game's new feature was the reason why some characters, especially six of the the seven Archons, have hostile interactions with the protagonist, while the Reader Protection Squad is just the regular Imposter SAGAU, but with more people helping the MC in searching for them to find their way back home.

Please make a part 3 omg, we almost never get venti being woth us in imposter au and i love this so much!! He is my favorite character and it hurts when people make him hunt us down for having the same face as the creator when he has hus friends face. So thank you so much for making something more real!♡♡♡
Tumblr media
Don't worry, as of the time of this post, the third part of my Reader Protection Squad is on the works!
Venti is my favorite character in the game (along with Barbara). As much as I love the angst on SAGAU Imposter and Cult AU stories, I can't help but cringe whenever Venti does some bat-shit yandere while hunting the Imposter when he is also classified as an imposter himself by taking the form of his friend.
He is also the God of Freedom for Archon's sake. Why would he restrict the freedom of a simple human being without any hesitation just because they look like the Creator? Does it violate his principles of enforcing his ideals to his people?
It was screaming "hypocrite" to me.
He is usually mischaracterized, along with some of the characters in SAGAU fics to drive the plot forward or to just simply emphasize other characters. The Archons were the victims of these mischaracterizations in SAGAU Imposter AU fics, putting them in a bad light because they are the higher authority besides Celestia in the game.
But honestly, Zhongli and Ei are reasonable because of their aura and personality as the Archons and how they rule their respective nations based on their ideals, but Venti? The sweet and mischievous bard who is friendly and welcoming to anyone he came across? The literal god of freedom?
It could apply if it was Corrupted!Venti or Evil!Venti fics, but seriously.
No offense to those authors (I love your works, honestly), but Archons... you should have told us the logical reason why they are obsessive and acting out of character like it was caused by a bug in the system or something else. Maybe how the existence of a Divine Creator actually affects the beliefs of the people of Teyvat? Is Celestia pulling the strings? Or maybe it is explained by how they are actually acting in real-life Teyvat or when nobody is looking.
This idea was born because of all of this. I wanted to give my boi justice in SAGAU fics for once by testing how the story goes if he still has his canon personality in the world where the Reader was treated as shit because of mistaken identity.
