I'm showing two versions of this because I used Glaze* on the right. It's to help mask art work, and I wanted to see how it worked with 3D (and photography).

For me, for this image, the glaze treatment wasn't intended for this render, so my eye is drawn to her leg, specifically the effects in the leg. It also distorts the lighting coming from the window.

Sonic New Year's Headcanons

Yippee !!

Tails' first time seeing fireworks was new years, he was terrified of them for a while bc fireworks are essentially louder and closer thunder and lightning, but once he finally realized they wouldn't hurt him he really enjoyed them

Knuckles complains about fireworks every year. They're loud and disruptive and they scare away the wild flickies

Sonic shaped fireworks, that is all

Blaze has a different new year in her dimension so she attends both celebrations if she can

Silver also attends both his own and Sonics celebrations because he is a time traveler lol

Sage loves fireworks. I don't have a reason for this headcanon, it's just what I believe

Metal Sonic is determined to get Sage to see fireworks irl, and he forms a truce with Sonic at the beginning of the year so she can watch them

Shadow is not a fan of new years. He spends the holiday inside and away from the loud gun-like noises. Sometimes Rouge drags him to one party or another with their friends, but that's about the extent of his celebrating

Any gifts that weren't passed out during Christmas are given during new years

Sometimes Wave, Jet, and Storm join in on New Year's, but that's pretty rare

Amy loves when all her friends are together so she loves new years, she's normally the one to recruit Tails and the tornado to go drag Knuckles off his island

Amy is constantly taking candid photos of everyone for her scrapbook

Sonic is pretty indifferent to the holiday, it's a bit loud for his taste but he can still get joy out of it. Especially if he gets Tails out of his workshop for a few hours

Blaze has tried to make her own fireworks with her flames.... The results were varied to say the least

I find it hard to order my favorites because it depends on my mood but besides Eggman my favorite Sonic characters are Shadow, Tails, Vector, Big, Bark, GUN Commander, Gerald, Espio, Metal Sonic, and Fang + Team Babylon. I actually have a ton of merch of Shadow and Tails especially but never show them really because this is an Eggman blog

I also love Adventure era (Adventure to Heroes) Sonic and the Werehog. I don't dislike Sonic in other times but there's something about late 90s to early 2000s Uekawa style Sonic voiced by Ryan Drummond that makes me love him and pay more attention to him a lot more than most other games. besides Unleashed and the storybook games. I think it's bias and nostalgia but lol

But Babylon's true wealth was not in its walls or its palaces, but in the greatness of its people and the wisdom of its wise men. And this is how the city lives until today, immortalized in history as a symbol of the wealth of humanity.

11 Menachem Av 5784 (14-15 August 2024)

When the Babylonian army first besieged Jerusalem and took captives away to live in exile, the prophet Yirmeyahu sent them a message:

So says HaShem, ruler of the heavenly host, the G-d of Israel, to all the captives, who HaShem has caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses, and dwell in them, and plant gardens, and eat their fruits; marry there, and bear children; and find wives for your sons, and husbands for your daughters, that they may bear sons and daughters; and multiply there, do not waste away. And seek the peace of the city where G-d has sent you as exiles, and pray to HaShem for it; for in the peace of the city shall ye have peace.

The exiles appear to have taken this message to heart. A generation later, when the Persians seized control of Babylon and permitted displaced peoples within the empire to return to their ancestral homelands, many Jews stayed in the Babylonian heartland, tending their gardens, raising their children and grandchildren, and praying for the peace of their cities. Five hundred years later, after another Mikdash had been built and destroyed, the Jews of Babylon were still there, living under yet another Persian empire. They too established rabbinical academies like the one Yochanan ben Zakkai founded at Yavneh. And when the Gemara was compiled it was collected semi independently by both the Galilean and Babylonian sages, with the Talmud Bavli being the more complete and detailed of the two collections. Through centuries of turmoil, and then millennia, the Jewish community of the Mesopotamian river valley remained strong and vibrant. And through it all, the Jews often saw their own welfare as wrapped up in that of their gentile neighbors and sought the peace of their cities.

One such occasion came on the 11th of Av 5493. The Sassanian empire of Tannaitic times had given way to the Islamic caliphates, and the caliphate in its own turn had been absorbed by the Ottoman Empire. The Jews of Sura were now the Jews of Baghdad, and Baghdad was under siege by a Persian army led by Nader Shah Afshar. The Safavid Persians were a theocratic regime which had imposed restrictions on Jewish life similar to those of medieval Western Europe— Jews were forced to live in segregated neighborhoods, wear badges marking them as different, and forbidden from entering most trades and professions. The Jews of the Ottoman Empire by contrast had a large amount of official toleration. And of course the capture of Baghdad by the Shiite Safavids would also bring hardships on the majority Sunni Muslim population of the city.

On the 11th of Av 5493, an Ottoman army led by the 70 year old general and recently retired Grand Vizier Topal Osman broke the Safavid siege and drove off the Persian invasion. Baghdad’s Jewish community rejoiced in the deliverance of the city, and observed 11 Menachem Av as a special commemoration of the deliverance of Baghdad for generations. It has only been since the Second World War and the rise of Arab and Islamic nationalism that the Jews of Babylon once more faced a major persecution. Most of Baghdad’s Jewish population made aliyah under pressure from antisemitic groups which accused them of double loyalties with the newly established Israeli state.

Today marks the first day of the Hebrew month of Tevet, and I'm excited to share some insights about this special time on our Jewish calendar.

Tevet, or טבת in Hebrew, pronounced /te-'vet/ is the 10th month according to biblical tradition and the 4th according to the tradition of our sages.

In the fixed Hebrew calendar, Tevet spans 29 days and can start on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday. It kicks off just after the last two or three days of the Hanukkah festival.

Now, let's talk about the name and symbolism of this month. Tevet is mentioned in the Bible, particularly in the Book of Esther, which tells the story of the Jewish people during the Babylonian exile. Esther 2:16 says, "In the tenth month, which is the month of Tevet". The name "Tevet" likely originated from the Akkadian language, spoken in ancient Babylon. In Akkadian, the month was called "ṭebētu", which roughly translates to something immersed or submerged. This name is thought to reflect the deepening cold and the increased precipitation characteristic of this time of year.

Some sources connect this month to the tribes of Dan, Gad, or Asher.

As we explore Tevet, let's not forget its significant events. The first three days of the month mark the conclusion of Hanukkah, a festival that celebrates the miracle of light and resilience.

Additionally, on the 10th of Tevet, we observe the fast of /a-sa-'rah be-te-'vet/, commemorating the siege of Jerusalem, a somber reminder of our connection to our homeland and our unity as a people.

So, as we step into Tevet, let's embrace the season, the history, and the language.

Side B, Round 3 (Match 4) *Clash of Casters*

On the left: A major female character and the storyteller in the famous narrative of the Middle Eastern collection of tales known as the One Thousand and One Nights. The story goes that the monarch Shahryar, on discovering that his first wife was unfaithful to him, resolved to marry a new virgin every day and to have her beheaded the next morning before she could dishonor him. Eventually the vizier could find no more virgins of noble blood and, against her father's wishes, she volunteered to marry the king in order to stop his brutality. To keep herself from being executed, she told the king a story every night as he eagerly anticipated the conclusion of each previous night's story. Vastly knowledgeable and an excellent storyteller. While she is terrified of dying, she is in fact surprisingly tough. She is Scheherazade

On the right: The vagabond of paradise. The court wizard, prophet, and adviser from the Legend of King Arthur. She would sometimes guide, sometimes cause trouble for, and sometimes aid King Arthur as he fought against his many enemies and overcame his many trials. She was a sage, but fundamentally not human. She was, in fact, a half-blood born of a human and an succubus(?). Referred to as the Beast of the Planet by Beast VI/S (Whore of Babylon). It's Merlin Prototype

I used Glaze* on the right side. I had Glaze in mind when I did the post work in Gimp, so I actually like the glaze treatment with this because it feels intended. And not so obvious.

Addressing those who are reading Sonic Cyber Revolution (Sonic the Hedgehog AU Story)

While the cast of characters for my Sonic Cyber Revolution is quite large, I've managed to introduce most of the important Sonic characters, with several more coming up in future chapters. This left me wondering whether those who read my story want to see any specific characters that I haven't introduced or even mentioned yet, but fit under the conditions that I have set.

As a reminder, the current cast of characters looks like this (not counting the OCs):

My conditions for character suggestions consists of:

*The character must have been featured in the mainline Sonic media, such as the video games, comics or cartoons. NO OCs!!!

*The Sonic media in question consists of the canon Sonic video games (meaning Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood is out of the question as it is not canon), Sonic IDW comics, Sonic movies or the Sonic cartoons (specifically the Sonic OVA, Sonic X, Sonic Boom & Sonic Prime).

*The characters from the following Sonic media WON'T be accepted: Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic SatAM, Sonic Underground, Sonic the Comic, Sonic Archie comics.

*Yes, that means that the Freedom Fighters won't be featured in the story. No, I won't reconsider this decision. I'm sorry to those who got their hopes up.

*I do regret not adding Scourge the Hedgehog and Shard the Metal Sonic from the Sonic Archie comics, tho. As well as the evil Super Sonic from Sonic the Comic.

*But, isn't Eclipse the Darkling a Sonic Archie comics original character? Why is he going to appear and not the others?

*Eclipse the Darkling is the sole exception to this rule due to his nature as a member of the Black Arms, meaning that he will make his appearance when I adapt Shadow the Hedgehog (2005).

*Take note that this is a Sonic AU, meaning that the characters will have familiar, but very different backgrounds from their canon selves.

*Both Classic Era and Modern Era characters are free game, as noted by the appearance of Honey the Cat. The main cast, as listed above, appear as their Modern selves.
