I haven't been on tumblr in a couple weeks and now bullying is going on, and you're being hurt and beamaring is leaving the fandom, what on earth happened and how can avoid the people that are ruining things for everyone?! I love your posts and I'm so sad that this is happening!

I'm not going to get into the details, because at this point there's nothing to be gained from it. I'm also not going to name names, because I never have.

Yes, there has been drama in the RNM fandom lately. Yes, i was hurt. Mostly on behalf of people I consider dear friends who are in pain.

There is a very clear divide in this fandom. I have made the decision to no longer engage with people in the RNM fandom who choose to see me and my friends as the devil incarnate no matter what we do or say. I have blocked people. They have blocked me back. And that's OKAY. We don't all have to get along, but this fandom is losing talented content creators across the board because of this behavior. I'm sorry people are feeling the need to leave, but I get it. Fandom is not worth your mental health.

Yes, I'm taking a break. Yes, I will be back. Yes, the podcast will continue. No, I will never stop expressing my opinions on my own platforms.

Why We Love It:

This is so incredibly sweet and soft. (As are most of their fics let's be real.) In this story, Alex is sort of at a loss on what to do during move-in day at his new art school and Michael comes to the rescue. They spend their day and subsequent semester being adorably attached and in love until the inevitable Christmas Gift Scene. Such a fluffy piece and absolutely fantastic to read when you just need something nice. Go give it some love!

RNM Creators Week 2020

Day 6 - Series/Multipart/WIP

I have enjoyed this week so much! As a person who doesn’t write myself, and who is totally in awe of all you amazing people that actually do, it has been so great to have a chance to lift up stories that have given me so much joy. I have also discovered some new ones that I am really looking forward to reading.

I have included many of my favourite series on the previous days, so today will be focused on WIPs. Both some older ones that I keep coming back to and while I would be overjoyed if there would be a new part, I really like reading them even if they are not finished. And some newer ones that are updated quite regularly and that I want to take the chance to send some love to.

Fade Into You - @sailorchiron

This is the main story in the And the Reason is You-series that also has several finished one-shots set in the same universe which are also really good. It is an AU and the main story is about how Michael and Alex meet when they end up as roommates on their first day at UNM. They start out building a friendship that grows into more and it is just so, so very sweet. It is really long, 250k words and counting, and I love that it just feels like you are dipping in and out of their life together at UNM and get to follow them as they grow closer and closer. I don’t actually ever need this to finish, I would be happy for it to go on and on. It is a real comfort read for me.

Lonely black euphoria and binary starlight bliss – @dancinbutterfly

This story just won’t leave me alone. I think it’s really special. It’s a story where the aliens have what is described as a ”biologically determined D/s dynamic” and when Michael meets Alex something just clicks. So obviously mind the tags, but I just find the description of their relationship and how they both try to deal with it so beautiful. Right now it ends in super angsty place, but I keep going back to read it and I love it!

Wired for Struggle - @wildrun

After the events in season one Michael is in a bad place and really spiralling. He eventually starts to take steps to get better, with support from Kyle who really is the best in this. It is beautifully written. I love how Michael’s journey is described and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.

It’s You I’m Fighting For – @macadamia440

Set after season two, this follows both Michael and Alex with switching POVs as they are working through their respective issues and trying to fix their lives (they each have a list). It’s both angsty and sweet. At this stage some puppies have just been introduced and I could not be more happy.

Last chapter of @ninswhimsy ‘s Grosse Point Blank fusion is the most immediate, then chapter 17 of @sailorchiron’s “Fade into You” which is a great comfort read, then whole starting of @sabrinachill ‘s “fish bowl”,  @andrea-lyn ‘s mummy fusion and finally @usbournejez  ‘s “chum and throw me overboard”...

Exes. I love people who know each other inside out sexually but still can’t get it together emotionally (but are trying)....  Yeah I’m Malex trash!

19. What’s your favorite character headcanon?

Err dark, but I think Noah was in Isobel’s head since she was attacked, and that’s why she was close to her brothers and never dated another man until she “met” him. Michael has had sex with men outside of Alex during the Lost Decade. Err Aliens do imprint and ruin their humans for anyone else.

There had been a lot of bad times in Michael Guerin’s life. Some good times, sure, but not a lot. Checking into his dorm room turned out to be an unexpected pleasure.

When the RA opened the door, he was staring straight at the very nice ass of a guy hanging up a poster on the wall above his bed. Of course, he jumped a mile and almost fell off the bed, but hell, that was one fine ass.

“Hey, Alex, meet your roommate, Michael.”

Michael watched as his roommate jumped down from the bed with a slight wince to shake his hand. “Nice to meet you.”.

What if Michael hadn't gotten back to Roswell? What if Alex got a full ride to UNM too? What if they ended up roommates? What would happen?.

comment: this has been on my to-rec list for a long time but i have to say, it is probably the most requested fic in my inbox. people are wild about this fic and tbh, i understand why. it’s a college au that imagines michael and alex meeting there, instead of in roswell. they’re roommates and they connect immediately, slowly building on their relationship, and their friendship with other characters (like maria!!) it’s a slow burn, mutual pining, communication bonanza, that tells the story from the pov of both boys. it’s sweet, has some very realistic and wonderful dialogue, and doesn’t ignore the alien-shaped elephant in the room. also, don’t forget to check out the extra (future) content located in the series And the Reason is You.

The forehead press remains one of my favorite moments on the show and she captured their expressions beautifully, as well as all the lighting things going on in the scene that may be the bane of gifmakers’ existence, but I find visually beautiful in the actual episode and in this art.
