This speaks to me: The Goddess Within The practice of deity yoga is a powerful way to free these archetypal energies from the nets cast by our egos, so they can reveal themselves in their purest, most sublime form. Moreover, when we recognize and invoke the goddesses as sources of our own powers, we train ourselves to stop identifying so personally with our skills and talents and gifts, and to open up and trust the subtle current of divine energy that is always present within us, ready to guide and mold us if we let it. This takes a certain radical trust and an experimental spirit; one that may feel strange if you’re used to identifying yourself as the doer of your action. Yet if you can embrace the idea of divine energy even experimentally, it is deeply freeing. ~from the one and only Sally Kempton Ready for an Inner Goddess Holistic Lifestyle Retreat? May 3-5! “One effect of all of this was to make me fall in love with the natural world. My new awareness of the Goddess spilled over as a new awareness of trees and landscapes, so that what seemed matter of fact and dull now began to vibrate with sentience.....Goddess awareness literally put me in touch with something that felt like the soul in the physical world.” #sallykempton (at Wombarra, New South Wales, Australia)

#tantric #traditions tell us that all power comes from an essentially #feminine inner #source .The masculine in its purest, most essential form is the source of #consciousness ,of #awareness . So when the masculine wants power, it must draw it from the feminine, just as when the #feminine wants to be #conscious ,to reflect, she must draw that capacity from her inner #masculine #source . When men imagine a #female uprising, they imagine a world in which women rule men as men have ruled women. #sallykempton #theshift #time #acknowledge #feminine #masculine #union #onelove #pathoflight #pathoflove #awake #awakening #artoftheday #instaart #artofinatagram #artsagram #artober #art #artwork #artnerd #digitalart #artlife #loveandlight

"Kali is the dynamic force of liberation, the inner kundalini energy that awakens us and guides us to realization of our identity with divine Consciousness itself. In the great game of freedom and enlightenment, she is the one who cuts the nooses that tie us, smashing our concepts, freeing us of beliefs, false personal identities, and everything else that keeps us from recognizing our true identity" -Sally Kempton Sculpture from Calcutta Art Gallery, 1913 #AbhayaYoga #FearLessLoveMore #KnowYourGoddess #Kali #SallyKempton

Life's Earthquakes
My life recently experienced a tremor. My world shook. I refer to the moments in our lives that knock us down and bowl us over as earthquakes. Sometimes they are tremors that knock dishes off the shelves and break up your ego, and sometimes they are life-altering earthquakes that destroy your entire house such as a death, getting fired, or breaking off a relationship. No matter whether it is a tremor or an earthquake, these disjointing life moments suck.
In her book Awakening Shakti, Sally Kempton devotes a chapter to the goddess Dhumavati, the “smokey one.” Dhumavati is the goddess of letting go, disappointment, and failure. Described as withered, toothless, and dishelved with dry, long breats, Dhumavati is frightening. She represents everything we all try to avoid on our path to engage our higher self. This crone is a wisdom goddess who grants boons with the face of failure
Dhumavati is often depicted with a winnowing basket, a broom, a spear, and a skull bowl. She sits in a carriage without a horse to pull it. She is a widow going nowhere. Stuck in one place to die and rot. The crow, an animal of psychic insight, transformation, and death, is never far from Dhumavati’s side. As the void between dissolution and creation, when everything dissolves we are with Dhumavati.
The tremor shook my world, shattered my framed self images, and exposed my fears. In this incident my words were challenged. Which may seem like no big deal, but a raw, unexposed nerve was pinched. I felt like Dhumavati’s sharp spear slashed me. For a moment in time, my body swelled in shame and embarrassment and all my fears about myself, my writing, and my knowledge were brought to the surface. Images of what I portray to the world were knocked down and shattered. My first reaction, was to hide under my covers — safely shielded from any falling debris. Yet, I didn’t. I, like Dhumavati, sat still.  I felt like shit. I questioned myself and what I am doing with my life. Yet, throughout this all, I was glad it happened.
I sat in the wreckage until I could find the strength to get up and clean my mess. With Dhumavati’s broom, I swept up my shattered ego and broken self images. I learned a lot about me — the parts of myself I’d like to strengthen and the parts of me that need to be thrown away. Dhumavati does this. Kempton writes, “Dhumavati asks the questions: Can your inner equilibrium survive that level of collapse? Can you find your yogic groove when everything falls away?” (224). She sits, without moving, without wavering, and forces us to face our losses, our failures, our disappointments and deal with them.
Personal life earthquakes come without warning and they can shake your world apart. Sometimes healing from an earthquake may take years or days or hours but no matter what these life tremor force us to re-examine the foundation we have built…and that is a great thing. Dhumavati tears down our illusions that we can continue on our path without major hiccups. Through the hiccups, the bruised egos, and the broken hearts, we learn to refresh ourselves, take new paths, grow different branches, and fortify our resolve to be the best version of ourselves.
