I’m Valerie! I’m a college student who’s been working on this one story since I was 15. I’m 20 now. It’s called mindscape. Here’s the leave behind I wrote for a class:

Mindscape is a psych horror following the lives of the psychologists and interns who work at the Crisis Elimination Clinic. Patients are admitted into the CEC in place of a baker act where their minds are literally gone into by interns, psychedelic style. The game takes place in 2045, exploring the psyches, or mindscapes, of various patients. A strong focus is on the interns and the psychologists, and how they feel concerning their roles at this corrupt clinic.

I really care about this story and honestly leaving asks and engaging would make my day. Genuinely. I actually adore thinking about this and talking about this so I thought I’d finally make all of this its own blog. I’ll be reblogging my posts from my main about this for organizational purposes.

2023 Bahama Cruise, Part 25. May 6. Rock Sound, Eleuthera Island.

We went back north 5 miles to New Bight, Cat Island to hide from some north winds. Swell was hitting the beach very bad the first day. Walked to the grocery store and picked up some mangoes and three coconuts on the way back.

Winds dropped to zero, so Nancy took out her hoverboard for a paddle. I was able to do a dinghy run for propane.

I didn’t want to tell Nancy, but something crawled on her back while she was swimming back to the boat. Later Nancy and I took 3 of the young boys for dinghy rides and a quick trip on the paddleboard.

After this beautiful day we pulled anchor and headed north 3 miles to Fernandez Bay.

Ended up with 9 of us anchored here and some swell coming from the west. We are pretty used to it, so no problems. I have a habit of finding Cuban “Chugs”. These are the homemade rafts Cubans use to get to the US. Towards sunset I saw something floating in. Calling over to the Catamaran (from Key Largo) next to us. I told him to go to his bow. There was a section of a Cuban Chug about to hit him. He fended it off his hull and let it drift to the beach.

Winds were absolutely dead calm as we motored 15 miles up the west coast of Cat Island to Alligator Point. A mother Dolphin and a very young calf swam near us. I always wondered how Dolphins learned to ride the bow wave of a boat. When they do, they don’t expend much energy swimming. It was plainly obvious to me that baby Dolphins hitch a ride on the side of their mother riding the pressure wave off of her. So they learn from day one, how to utilize the pressure wave.

It was so calm I headed to the south side of the point. Nancy had to stand watch on the bow pointing out shallow coral heads for the last two miles (see photo above).She immediately put her paddleboard in after anchoring. However the current coming out of Pigeon Creek to much to paddle into. So she explored the beaches.

With time to spare we pulled anchor while we could still see the coral heads, and headed around the west end of Alligator Point then back to the north side of Alligator Point. Thus avoiding some winds and swell coming the next day.

Question: Why is it named Alligator Point? Don’t think they ever had Alligators here. Anyway, we took the dinghy to Pigeon Creek. The current was running hard out to sea. But I saw a couple prospective photo shoot sites. Below are the results of great location, light and model.

The next day we ran the dinghy up Pigeon Creek about half way. Winds were picking up from the south, so we headed up 1.5 miles to Bennett Harbor.

We did a garbage run to the government dock. I put Nancy on the cement boat ramp. No one was around, since the mailboat was not in. Nancy being Nancy, starts talking to a guy who steps out of his house. John Gordon allowed Nancy to leave the trash in his garbage can. John just moved back to Cat Island from Orlando. He is a go getter.

Before day break on Saturday we lifted anchor and headed to Rock Sound, Eleuthera, about 50 miles.

I have seen two water spouts on the last two days. Here is a photo of a small water spout over Little San Salvador Island.

Approaching Rock Sound from the west we stopped to evaluate a storm over the harbor. Six or so dolphins swam in front of the boat. Dolphins here are very small. Two of the moms had infant calves with them. Must be calving season.

“The Eyes Of The Stars Keep Watch On Earth” 

Salvaged from the now closed Lima Shatterdome,K-Watch unit “Shooting Stars”, this group of five pilots are Blasting Supernova’s eyes in the stars. Their nickname wsa given by the rest of the Shatterdome because of the Jaeger they were meant to protect (that being B.S)

"Being Labeled as one of the most chaotic branches of K-watch, unit 0-9 "shooting stars" is perhaps one of the best assets transfered from the Lima Shatterdome after its closing in 2024.

The unit has been observed to cheer on their charge(Mark V jaeger Blasting Supernova) during Battles, by screaming from their helicopters And comms. They have also been observed to display somewhat childish behaviour amongst themselves and other crews. Playfull banter, harmless Jokes and odd stunts have been commited by the shooting stars.

This sets them aside from other branches of k-watch given that Striker Eureka's k-watch pilots seen more serious and seasoned, and Lady Danger's seem more calm and collected.

Marshal Pentecost has reprimanded the unit on their behaviour, but given that the marshall was only following orders of the higher ups no other penalty has been applied to the pilots.

Movie Review | Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects (Thompson, 1989)

This review contains spoilers.

Maybe I was lulled by the relative humanism of The Evil That Men Do, but I watch my share of sleazy, morally bankrupt garbage, and it's been a while since I've watched something as upsetting as Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects. The plot here, about Charles Bronson trying to take down a pimp who peddles child prostitutes, might raise a lot of red flags, although one can concede that a Bronson vehicle can be extremely sleazy and still work on a lizard brain level (see: Death Wish II, which combines all the ugliest elements of the vigilante thriller into one neat little package). And the fact that the pimp and his sidekick are played by Juan Fernandez and Sy Richardson, the former who played a memorable character in Oliver Stone's sweaty, drug-fueled Salvador and the latter of which is a regular figure in Alex Cox's stock company, might offer some promise in terms of delicious bad guys deserving of whatever gruesome comeuppance Bronson will serve them.

But the movie doesn't settle for just that. There's also a hideously racist subplot about a Japanese businessman who sees a woman being groped on a train in Tokyo, and with his disturbing desires inflamed, decides to try that out after coming to American on Bronson's daughter, which are depicted in two agonizingly drawn out scenes. This businessman's daughter is kidnapped by the pimp, and while her arc ends one a thoroughly dispiriting note of suicide, the narrative thread around his attempted molestation of Bronson's daughter is inexplicably dropped. Why? The movie was content to get in its racist jabs and leave it at that? I've spent the last few weeks watching movies that offered not entirely positive portrayals of other cultures, but in those cases, the movies would offer certain nuances or grace notes to complicate or alleviate the portrayals. But this movie has no real interest in the Japanese, just fear and disgust, eager to depict them as evil perverts who are trying to take over. (There's a vicious racist rant by Bronson that the movie basically agrees with. Also, this might be the only American movie of this era to acknowledge what hentai is.) But then it shows that America has its share of evil perverts, which it demonstrates most forcefully in the scene where the Japanese businessman's daughter is raped in sequence by the pimp and her associates while Seinfeld-style bass blares on the soundtrack. The least racist read of this movie is that there are in fact evil perverts to go around. One imagines a sequel to this movie would have Bronson hopping from country to country killing evil perverts in airport bathrooms during each layover.

Of course, as this is a Bronson vehicle, he must go outside the law to get the bad guys off the streets, which we see him do first by jamming a dildo up a john's ass and later shoving an expensive watch down the pimp's throat. One wonders if Bronson might be better at sending bad guys to prison if he didn't force foreign objects into their orifices so readily, but these are the kind of sleazy thrills you go to see a Bronson vehicle for, especially in this era. And there are odd moments that are enjoyable on that level (I had a bit of fun with a scene where Bronson breaks up a porn shoot where the crew seems to be snorting up the budget), but this is also a movie where Bronson is replaced by an obvious body double anytime he needs to be spry and the movie mysteriously renders Richardson unable to kick down a door when it needs to tie up a plot thread. It is not a tightly directed thriller, is what I'm saying, which is disappointing as this was the final film directed by J. Lee Thompson and a very theatrical late role by Bronson. Thompson has directed some great movies like The Guns of Navarone and Cape Fear, as well as one pretty good Bronson vehicle in The Evil That Men Do. But the overwhelming feeling here is one of exhaustion, with Bronson complaining every other scene about how he doesn't want to do this anymore, and the presence of both men pared down to their most base, ugly instincts, their ids unleashed on screen.

So if you wanna wallow in the filth, this might be worth a look, but you'll need an hour-long shower after. If there's one thing it's good at, it's making your skin crawl.
