I have very clear memories of my High School English IV teacher going on long tangents about how hard college is and how none of us were prepared for it. She told us that we would have to write multiple reports on different topics per week and that we would have to read multiple full books every week. She told us that what she assigned us for our High School class was nothing compared to the insane workload of college. It's important to note that, at one point, my grade in this class was like 29%.

Then I went to the same college that she had gone to. Even in my freshman year, when I took more classes than I honestly needed to per semester, my workload across all classes together was probably equivalent to that single high school English class.

College classes tend to be spaced out (Monday-Wednesday-Friday, or Tuesday-Thursday, for example), and you generally only have like 3 a day unless you purposely overload your schedule. So I only had like 3 hours of classes each day, and I had the entire rest of my day for work, or for studying for the next day's classes, or to just hang out and do whatever. I actually had the highest grade in my freshman year English class in college. Everything was so unbelievably easy, especially compared with the English and Math classes I took in my senior year of High School. I double majored and graduated with like a 3.5 GPA. Only like 3 classes genuinely stressed me out.

Anyway, none of this matters, but what I'm getting at is this: if you're a teen and you have a teacher or other adult in your life that's really trying to drive home that you can't handle college, maybe take that with a grain of salt. I don't know if she was confusing her Master's level workload with the Bachelor's curriculum or what, but college really isn't as difficult as some teachers like to tell teens it will be.

Deadline November 6! As long as it's there when I check my email on Tuesday morning, it's on time. Otherwise, don't worry about time zones or midnight deadlines or whatever -- putting this here in case it prevents one or two of the emails I'm getting. :) Thanks for entering, and I can't wait to dive in and put this year's show together!!

Working on a paper rn cause it’s due in,,, less than 8 hours and a couple hours ago I found out all but one source was unusable cause apparently there’s two?? separate things??? that have the same fucking name???

So that set me back a few hours as I’m relooking at sources but still optimistic 🙃 (devoting every cell in my body to wishing that class is canceled tomorrow to give me more time)
