FACTS & STATS: Alonso beats Schumacher record for longest first-last podium interval
The weather made sure the Dutch Grand Prix was a breathless affair from start to finish, but once the spray had settled the numbers showed plenty of records being matched or equalled – and not just by race winners Max Verstappen and Red Bull… • Today’s was the first Dutch Grand Prix ever to be red-flagged. • Verstappen’s ninth consecutive win tied the Formula 1 championship record held by Sebastian Vettel – also with Red Bull. • It was also the 12th consecutive time Verstappen has won when starting from pole position, tying Michael Schumacher's record set between San Marino 2003 and Japan 2004. REPORT: Verstappen overcomes wet-weather chaos to make it a hat-trick of Dutch GP wins and equal Vettel’s victory record • Verstappen’s 11th win of the season surpasses his total in his first title year in 2021 and matches the most scored by Lewis Hamilton in any season. • Verstappen has now led 628 laps this season, more than he led in 2022 (616), and the seventh-highest total in history (just 111 short of Vettel's record). • Verstappen remains unbeaten at Zandvoort in his lifetime. A welcome podium return for Pierre Gasly • With P2 today, Fernando Alonso secured his seventh podium of 2023 and extended his gap over Hamilton in third place in the championship (they were separated by one point before today). • That P2 for Alonso breaks Michael Schumacher's F1 record (7,399 days) for the longest interval between first and last career podium finishes (Alonso's first podium was Malaysia 2003). • With his P2 combined with fastest lap, Alonso has now scored more points for Aston Martin in the first 13 races this year (168) than he did in his previous two seasons at Alpine (162). DRIVER OF THE DAY: Alonso gets your nod after scintillating Zandvoort drive • Today Aston Martin finished on the podium at Zandvoort for the first time, 64 years after making their F1 debut on this track with Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby. • Pierre Gasly’s P3 for Alpine was his first podium finish since Azerbaijan 2021. • He did, however, notably finish third in the F1 Sprint in Belgium immediately before the summer break. • Gasly had been pointless in the three previous Grands Prix. • In the second Red Bull, Sergio Perez took P4 and lost a podium finish thanks to a five-second time penalty for speeding in the pit lane. Alex Albon was not to be denied another points finish • Carlos Sainz’s P5 for Ferrari was his best-ever finish at Zandvoort. • Lewis Hamilton took sixth for Mercedes and has still only finished outside the top six once this season (eighth in Austria). • With P7 for McLaren, Lando Norris finished in the same position for the second consecutive race. • It also matched his 2022 Dutch Grand Prix result. WATCH: Zhou Guanyu's crash and heavy rain brings out the red flags at the Dutch GP • Taking P8 for Williams, Alex Albon secured his third top-eight finish in the last six races. • Oscar Piastri took P9 for McLaren, scoring two points on his manager Mark Webber's 47th birthday. • Esteban Ocon completed the points with P10 for Alpine – he has finished ninth, ninth and 10th in three Zandvoort starts. via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

Got a question about Michael Schumacher and who from the current grid raced against him, so lets see :)
The older drivers debuted in 2001, so we will only look at Michael’s career from that year.
It’s long, so I will put it under the cut...
in 2001-2006 only Kimi and Fernando raced against him (*Fernando debuted in 2001, but wasn’t on the grid in 2002 as he was a test driver for Renault then).
2001: Kimi started his career in (Red Bull) Sauber and managed to score 9 points in his debut year, while Fernando started in Minardi and finished with no points (imagine a team like Williams now). Kimi moved to F1 from Formula Renault and Fernando from Formula 3000. Michael was World Champion for Ferrari.
2002: Kimi replaced Mika Hakkinen in McLaren after he’s decided to retire. He finished the year on 6th place with 24 points. (As I’ve mentioned before, Fernando didn’t participate in 2002). Michael was World Champion for Ferrari.
2003: Fernando is back on the grid with Renault. He won the race for the first time in Hungary and finished the season on 6th place with 55 points. Kimi won his firth race as well in Malaysia, which was his only win that year, but managed to get 91 points and finished second in championship. Michael was World Champion for Ferrari with 93 points.
2004: Both Kimi and Fernando stayed with their previous year’s teams. Kimi scored another win, but with 8 retirements, he’s only managed 45 points and 7th place. Fernando didn’t win a race, but got to 4th place in championship with 59 points. Michael was World Champion for Ferrari with 148 points before his team mate Rubens Barrichello with 114 points. This was Michael’s 7th and final title.
2005: Both Kimi and Fernando stayed with their previous year’s teams. If you are a fan of Kimi and Fernando this is the year to watch :) Both won 7 races - Fernando in Malaysia, Bahrain, San Marino, Europe (Nurburgring), France, Germany and China, while Kimi won in Spain, Monaco, Canada, Hungary, Turkey, Belgium and Japan. Only three other drivers won that year, Juan Pablo Montoya three times, Giancarlo Fisichella once and Michael once. Fernando won the championship with 133 points and Kimi was the runner-up with 112 points. Michael in Ferrari came third that year.
2006: Both Kimi and Fernando stayed with their previous year’s teams. Fernando won 7 races again, while Kimi didn’t win any. Michael was the main challenger for Fernando with 7 wins as well. However, at the end Fernando won the championship (his second and final title) with 134 points and Michael in Ferrari was the runner-up with 121 points.
Michael officially retired after the 2006 season, so Lewis and Seb who debuted in 2007 didn’t get to race him, until later. Lewis debuted in McLaren and Seb started his career in Toro Rosso in the middle of the season when he replaced Scott Speed. Also in 2007, Fernando moved to McLaren while Kimi replaced Michael in Ferrari where he won his single World Championship. Lewis was the runner up that year with only one point behind Kimi. In 2008 Fernando went back to Renault, while the others stayed where they were previous year. Lewis won his first title by one point (Is that Glock?! If you know you know!). In 2009 Seb moved to Red Bull while the other three stayed where they were. The championship winner was Jenson Button with Sebastian being runner up. Kimi took sabbatical and moved to try on rally.
2010: Michael is back with Mercedes. Lewis stayed with McLaren, Sebastian with Red Bull, while Fernando moved to Ferrari. Sebastian become World Champion with 5 wins and 256 points. Fernando was runner up with 5 wins and 252 points. Lewis scored 3 wins and with 240 points he finished on 4th place. Michael only got 72 points and no wins.
2011: Two more current drivers are joining F1. Sergio is debuting with Sauber while Daniel replacing Narain Karthikeyan in HRT in the middle of the season (Narain later returned for one race and Daniel stayed which meant he replaced Tonio Liuzzi then and then Liuzzi returned so Daniel replaced Narain again - well, crazy). Lewis, Sebastian, Fernando and Michael stayed in the teams from previous season. Sebastian won his second championship with 392 point when with an exception of one retirement he didn’t score lower than 4th place once. Fernando finished 4th with one win and 257 points, Lewis 5th with three wins and 227 points, Michael was 8th with 76 points. Rookies Sergio and Daniel finished 16th / 14 points and 27th / 0 points respectively.
2012: Kimi returned to F1 with Lotus F1 team. Lewis, Sebastian, Fernando, Sergio and Michael stayed in the teams from previous season. Daniel moved to Toro Rosso. This season had 6 World champions on the grid - Sebastian, Fernando, Kimi, Lewis, Michael and Jenson Button. Five of them actually finished the season in Top 5 - Sebastian won his third championship with 281 point and 5 wins, second was Fernando with 278 points and 3 wins, third was Kimi with 207 points and one win, fourth was Lewis with 190 points and 4 wins and fifth was Jenson. Michael only managed the score 49 points and only one podium for 3rd place in Valencia (European GP) which placed him on 13th final place. Sergio also scored podium (3rd place) in Canada and finished the season on 10th place with 66 points and finally Daniel only managed 10 points and his final standing was 18th place.
After the disappointing season 2012 Michael retired for the second time and for real and he was replaced by Lewis in Mercedes.

27 Apr 1922 – Record breaking Sheila Scott was born, she later in life went on to become an accomplished female pilot. In 1966, Sheila made her first around-the-world flight, covering about 31,000 miles in 189 flying hours. It was the first such solo flight by a British subject, the longest-distance solo flight, and only the third around-the-world flight by a woman. Then records began to tumble: between London and Cape Town in 1967; across the North Atlantic the same year; across the South Atlantic in 1969; from equator to equator over the North Pole in 1971, becoming the first woman to pilot a flight circling the world by way of the North Pole in a light aircraft. After her record polar flight, she made a third around-the-world flight, earning her 100th world-class record, including a new time from Darwin, Australia, to London of three and a half days, beating the previous record by one and a half days. In 1967, she set 23 world records in just one year. - https://www.onthisday.com/articles/record-breaking-sheila-the-high-flying-aviator

This weekend, Silverstone will host its second consecutive F1 race, the 2020 70th Anniversary GP. @fastf1 thought it would be a good time to post some stats on countries hosting more than 1 race in a single year! - The last time Britain hosted more than 1 race in a season was 1993. That year, the European GP was hosted at Donnington whilst Silverstone played host to the British GP. - Ayrton Senna put on a memorable display to win in the wet, at Donnington, with Alain Prost triumphing at Silverstone. - Before 2020, Spain was the last nation to host more than 1 race in an F1 season. This happened back in 2012, with the Spanish GP at Barcelona being followed by the European GP, on the streets of Valencia. Both races turned out to be very entertaining. - In Barcelona, Pastor Maldonado incredibly beat Alonso in a straight fight to win his only F1 race and Williams' first since 2004. The European GP saw Alonso win on home soil, Michael Schumacher take his final F1 podium and a late clash between Maldonado and Hamilton. - 3 nations are set to host more than 1 race during this season. They are; Austria, Britain and Italy. Austria has already held the Austrian GP and Styrian GP, Britain has hosted the British GP and will soon host the 70th Anniversary GP, whilst Italy will hold 3 races. - The last time 3 nations hosted more than 1 race in a season, was 1997. At that stage, Italy held the San Marino GP (Imola) and Italian GP (Monza), Spain hosted the Spanish GP (Barcelona) and European GP (Jerez) whilst Germany had the German GP (Hockenheim) and Luxembourg GP (Nurburgring). - As noted, Italy will host 3 races this year; the Italian GP (Monza), Tuscan GP (Mugello) and Emilia Romagna GP (Imola). - The only time any nation has previously hosted 3 races in a single year, was 1982. Then, USA held the US GP West (Long Beach), Detroit GP (Detroit) and Caesar's Palace GP (Las Vegas). 🏁🏁 | CREDITS: MOTORSPORT IMAGES | #F1 #FormulaOne #F12020 #F1News #F1Pics #F1Memes #F1History #ClassicF1 #PG10 #NL6 #TeamLH #LH44 #MV33 #HondaF1 #CL16 #KR7 #DR3 #AlfaRomeoRacing #EO31 #SV5 #RenaultF1Team #RG8 #AA23 #LN4 #GR63 #CS55 #DK26 #SV5 #KM20 #MichaelSchumacher #KeepFightingMichael https://www.instagram.com/p/CDbLlRYhr8R/?igshid=13wj0bgf6ndm9

F1 news: Mick Schumacher drives father Michael’s last title winning car during German GP build up
Remembering the heyday of Ferrari? Mick Schumacher drives father Michael & # 39; s last title winning car during the build-up of the German Grand Prix
Mick Scuhmacher must drive the all-conquering Ferrari F2004 from father Michael
Michael & # 39; s car from 2004 sealed its seventh and final world championship

In an F1 season in which his rivals were completely dominated, there was a small reminder before qualifying for the German Grand Prix, which was not always the case.
In 2004, Ferrari, with Michael Schumacher at the wheel, dominated almost every race before he reached his seventh and final world championship
Just before drivers fought for pole position during Michael & # 39 ; s home race in Germany his son Mick got his nostalgia from Hockenheim while he climbed his dominant father F2004 for a demonstration run around the circuit.
Mick Schumacher drives the Ferrari F2004 from the pit lane in Hockenheim
The demonstration run saw him driving the last title winning car from his father Michael from 2004
The 20-year-old looks from the cockpit before he starts his demonstration run
Mick showed a helmet that was half his design and Michael's other one. overcoming Ferrari days all the time while driving the track in the famous car that won 15 of the 18 races since the 2004 season
The German is currently competing in F2 for the Prema team. Although he is 14th in the championship, he has always surpassed teammate Sean Gelael.
Michael won 12 of the first 13 races in 2004, before a second at the Belgian Grand Prix saw him tie the crown with four more races to run.
Mick wore a crash helmet that was half decorated in the red colors of his father
Mick Schumacher delighted German Ferrari fans who driving his father's last title winning car
Mick & # 39; s tour of Hockenheim in the dominant F2004 came before the German Grand Prix qualification
under Michael & 13 racing victories in 2004 was a triumph in Hockenheim, where he led home comfortably for Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso.
The seven-time world champion suffered a life-changing ski accident in 2013 and he has not been publicly seen since, with his full medical condition still closely guarded secret within the Schumacher family.
The joy of German Ferrari fans about seeing one of the F1 & # 39; s dominant cars & all 39, driven by the son of one of their favorite drivers, was short-lived against the time of qualification later in the day is.
Another multiple German title winner in Sebastian Vettel failed to register a lap due to a turbo issue, while his teammate Charles Leclerc was struck by a problem with the fuel system that fought for pole, causing him to start Sunday's race from the tenth
It seems unlikely that Ferrari will end a race-winning drought that extends over 13 races until October when Kimi Raikkonen won the United States Grand Prix. The glory days of 2004 have never looked this far away.

5 — Lewis Hamilton
