#i read up to dof lowering the birdcage#there's just Something about dof listing all the reasons why the strawhats won't be able to win#and at the same time showing that they're all invalid because the mugiwaras are doing exactly every single thing he thought they wouldn't#then he's like “how did you know about the tontatta and sugar? talk! it's impossible that you formed a convenient alliance on the spot!”#when not only that's exactly what happened but#it happened four? times over in the span of a few minutes#even if robin and usopp hadn't met the tontatta and made up the noland lie#zoro would have met wicca and if zoro hadn't met wicca#franky would have met kyros and if franky hadn't met kyros#sanji would have met viola!#they formed FOUR convenient alliances that would have brought them to the tontatta on the spot#and the best thing is that this happens right after dof says i need to deal with the strawhats bc#too many underestimated them and were burned for it#he says!! and right after he defeats law and law's like didn't you say you wouldn't underestimate them#he REMINDS HIM#but dof proceeds to do just that anyway cause he's not underestimating their strength#and he's right in doing so they ARE strong#but what he doesn't understand is that what he needs to take seriously is their /luck/#they're Always in the right place at the right time and this has been acknowledged on paper in the past already#they're lucky! luck is on their side! on jaya luffy managed to pick the only not poisoned apple on the spot he's LUCKY#and he uses that luck combined with his natural kindness to make allies wherever he goes#but dof only prepares for their undeniable strength and thats why he loses despite being the one taking them the most seriously up until now#and that's also why law wins#because despite grumbling and huffing and trying to push them away and out of harm's way#he has unshakable faith in their ability to make miracles happen#he never tries to sell them and keeps on buying them time for as long as he can because he Knows they'll find a way to win#and he outright says so! dof laughs at him for believing in luffy so much and he doesn't shake even for a minute!#bro I'm insane about dressrosa i truly am#insane about dressrosa AND about law's kindness and love and care for and trust and faith in his “convenient allies”#straight up he gave them the zoo vivre card cause he knew they'd take care of his crew for him if he never made it i just KNOW

One Piece Shipping War - Round 1 Side C
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sanji/Baby5 edit by @fivedayslater ❤
Propaganda under the cut.
Propaganda for Sanji x Baby 5:
They never met in canon, only because Oda knows that if they ever laid eyes on each other they’d have been married within the hour.
They would try so hard to out service each other I want to see how it goes
We could’ve had the most fucked up shotgun wedding
Propaganda for Sanji x Viola:
Have you SEEN their chemistry in Dressrosa? Even after Viola admitted she was faking they stayed close. Plus they are both equally romantic, and they’ve had a whole few episodes with just them.
Sanji can have one princess, as a treat. And after everything Doflamingo put her through, Viola can have a man completely devoted to making her happy and safe and comfortable, as a treat.

@a11sunday said: After giving a soft thanks to head chef zeff and a grateful kiss to his cheek, Viola met Sanji at the secret entryway that would lead outside the palace walls. it would only be for a few hours... she'd already feigned illness that morning, supposedly shutting herself into her chambers. spending this day with sanji was a little slice of her dream come true. curling her fingers around his hand, a rosy blush rises to her cheeks. " do you have everything for our picnic ? "
Tumblr media
The perfect assortment was planned and packed with the utmost care. A small arrangement of red camellias accompanied the hors d'oeuvres he curated for this special occasion. Fresh, vibrant flavors were essential to the experience. Presentation, of course, was also important. After all, she was a princess . . . his princess. The last prepared but the first to be eaten was a salad comprising mint, sweet watermelon, savory feta, and sharp red onion. An expertly balanced plate with a vibrant presentation. Next up? Summer rolls stuffed with thinly sliced avocado, watermelon radish, and peach. Fresh, vivid colors and flavors were tempered by the mellow flavors and textures of rice noodles and extra-firm tofu. A modest variety of confections were also packed: miniature fruit and custard tarts, petit fours, and an expertly assembled mille-fuielle. For beverages, mineral water and sparkling sweet wine would be served. The execution of this intricate plan—masterminded by Princess Viola herself—involved the use of disguises. Enrobed in the clothing of common folk, Sanji affixed the fake facial hair to his face. A bizarre, bittersweet feeling stood at the precipice of conscious thought. Heralded by the slick of sweat on his palms and the unconscious quickening of both breath and heartbeat, Sanji snagged the collar of his shirt and swallowed thickly. He was suddenly aware ( to a distressing degree ) of the adhesive intermingling with heat and sweat on his face. Merde. Was it slipping already? Surely, that was the sick feeling of anxiety responsible for the inception of that false perception. When he saw her, he was rendered speechless. Even dressed down, such beauty was unconcealable. Words jammed in his throat, entangled with a gasp. Gnarled fingers seized collar and snagged it. Lips trembled as they peeled back to present a ( nervous ) grin. Heat flooded his face in the absence of words. Instead, he sheepishly showed the basket. Was that really the best he could muster?

Tate do u think sanjii will ever get with Nami or someone else I don’t think so because he’s too much of a simp
Ok so…..
I would like to see it ofc but Oda has something against Sanji the same way Gege has something against Gojo 🗿 so he may end up having absolutely nobody which sucks because it would be cute/funny to see them in their 40/60 year old ages and Sanji has a bunch of kids w his wife like it would make sm sense lmao
Also no, I genuinely do not think Sanji has REAL IN LOVE feelings for Nami or many of the women he has met …
I do believe he loves Nami and Robin as very close women in his life and he cherishes them and all that good jazz. Like, if it came down to it he would lay his life down for them both (heavy on Nami) and they both have a special place in his heart but that’s as far as I would describe their relationship.
I think it’s all just him being him which is a woman lover. I said this before w Zuha but I think the closest we have seen him on how’d he would act in a relationship was w Viola. Their interactions was cute from the beginning, he didn’t act out too much around her, and it was really sweet and Ik she felt a lil sum about him despite what she seen in his mind💀💀💀

VERY interesting concept I've been playing with. If Unaek had met the crew earlier in Sanji's heavy simping days, I think she'd turn out a lot more bitter.
Shes got a huge crush on Sanji that's pretty obvious, but it's around the time of Fishman Island, or Dressrosa. So, she's got a crush on Sanji, and he flirts with her, but he ALSO heavily flirts with other pretty ladies (and sometimes even gets attention back.)
I could see her getting pretty jaded that they're treating him poorly, too. Like Nami hitting him for flirting with her because she's not interested, but Unaek would give anything to have that sort of attention from her crush.
Like Nami knocks Sanji upside the head for getting all flirty with her and then Unaek glares a little like, "What the fuck, why are you treating him like that???" And storms off. (I keep going back to a scene of Unaek getting into it with Viola during Dressrosa because she's mad jealous tho 😏👀)
omg poor Unaek would not survive with Fishman Island Sanji 💔
he's such an obnoxious flirt in that era and with every woman he meets. time and time again he'll be drooling over other ladies even though he knows Unaek is in love with him. it would just break her heart because she knew that none of the women he's thirsting after will love him back the way she does

you’re the most interesting person i’ve ever met ( from Viola / Violet )
subtle romance starters |still accepting|
The events of Dressrosa were finally over, the people were finally free while there was no choice but to flee from this place. It was unknown if they would cross paths with Violet and the others again since the journey still wasn’t over. There was still much that the crew needed to do because of the adventure which continued to linger in front of them. It was unknown what was going to be waiting for them next, it was unknown if they would return to.
There was one thing that Viola and Sanji had in common which was that they both came from a royal line just under different circumstances. He wanted nothing to do with the name that was a heavy burden resting against his shoulders. He refused to claim that he was a Vinsmoke, that he was the former third prince of Germa. The blonde was nothing to the Vinsomkes, he was Germa’s failure according to them. A thought which most likely wasn’t going to change anytime soon, he doubted that they have changed since the last time he set foot in that place.
He was just a child then.
It seemed that the chance to cross paths with Viola and the others happened quite quickly, it was while the crew had stopped at another island for the sake of supplies. It was his job to make sure that they would have plenty of food to last them throughout their travels especially when it came to Luffy. He could easily eat through the entire supply if Sanji wasn’t guarding the kitchen from his grubby hands.
Tumblr media
This was how he ended up gaining her company once more while going through the grocery list while wandering through the nearby market. A smile moved to grace his lips at her words
“Oh? What makes you say that?”

how is sanjis loyalty flimsy.. hes been willing to sacrifice his life for his crewmates as far back as arlong park. and if he wasnt also extremely loyal what would the point even be of oda adding in the scene of him trying to sacrifice himself instead of zoro in thriller bark. given his circumstances in wci citing that as a sign of lack of dedication seems kind of unfair to his character.
first off, I'm not personally attacking Sanji bc,,,, he's a cartoon character,,,,, and all I'm trying to do is sus out the intentions of the story telling so pls, if you're getting personally offended for sanji, there's no need for that. I love sanji. I'm not like... shit talking him..... anyways, he puts strangers second to the crew quite often. that's facts. even if it's portrayed as silly and his pervyness, he does. he was writing goodbye letters to all of them in his head after he met viola. he's the only one in the crew to put something/someone else before the crew pretty much ever(usopp that one time) like honestly I didn't even think of wci when I wrote this bc I think wci is one of the moments where he grows and becomes a more cemented part of the crew. sanjis always kinda been the crews loner. and you mention thriller bark but Sanji put namis life in danger several times so he could beat up a guy who had a devil fruit he wanted. he put the thought of peeping on naked women above namis safety. I'm not saying bad things about Sanji. I'm just noticing canon moments that are consistent with his character and saying exactly what it is. yes sanji has many reliable moments. he has many unreliable moments as well. along with now having issues with his genetics (not his fault) but makes him a wild card nonetheless. I think wci needed to happen to prevent anything going sideways with Sanji bc it started to make him realize he wasn't on the outside looking in, and made him realize who really loves him and is really on his side. Sanji comes in clutch only AFTER he's made a huge mess by being unreliable(not always but very often) (wano and leaving the weaker crew to themselves again so he could try to spy on naked women). I could get sooooo deep into this. I'll write my full assessment down after I read the manga. rn I'm just getting thoughts out.
also edit: the thriller bark scene only portrays how Sanji others himself from their group and came across more suicidal than anything. I think his loyalty came in when he kept what Zoro did a secret. that scene portrayed loyalty. the scene with kuma portrayed "I'm worthless compared to all of you and my life has the least amount of value so it should be me" even though not a single one of them would agree.

The development of Law’s relationship with Zoro - Part 4: Dressrosa, The Breaking Point (Saving Law)
<<Part I: Before Meeting>> <<Part II: Sabaody Archipelago, The First Meeting>> <<Part III: Punk Hazard, The Alliance (A)>> <<Part III: Punk Hazard, The Alliance (B)>>  <<Part IV: Dressrosa, The Breaking Point (The Plan Failed)__ (Saving Law)__(Protecting Law)__ (Birdcage, Pica and Doflamingo)__ (Aftermath)>>
The mission of saving Law (chapter 731) was carried by Luffy, Zoro and Kinemon, while Franky, Robin and Usopp were responsible for destroying the factory with the help of dwarves.
Before Luffy left the Colosseum, he met Sabo (his and Ace's long-lost brother that up to this moment was considered to die in their childhood) which made Straw Hat emotionally shaken. Due to the excess of emotions, Luffy couldn’t stop crying what didn’t go unnoticed by Zoro:
Tumblr media
Though Zoro is usually lenient in regards to Luffy’s moods, the trio managed to run away from marines in disguises made by Kinemon and get close to Royal Palace while Luffy still cried without a proper explanation why. Zoro’s patience finally ran out:
Tumblr media
Zoro not only told Luffy to get a grip of himself (“do you still want to go save Law?”), but also actually smacked him. This… is a very uncommon act for Zoro. Because yes, he never beat around the bush when it comes to telling hard truth nor hesitate to reprimand his nakama (or, just straight sum up their antics as “idiotic”), but hitting Luffy is mainly done by Nami and Usopp or Sanji. It can’t be said that Zoro never displayed “a rough approach” to Luffy before - because he did it too from time to time, especially in the earlier parts of the story yet after time-skip, I can’t recall any moment similar to this one. It is so uncommon now for him to lose patience in regard to Luffy’s antics and/or emotional “breakdown” to the point of hitting him and yet it happened when Roronoa and Luffy were in the middle of a rescue mission to save Law.
Luffy - a man for whom Zoro was ready to give up his life, and for whom he was so worried once he learned about Ace’s death - was a crying mess since he left the colosseum (and some time already have passed between that and now) and Zoro just smacked his captain in a way Nami and Usopp usually do. What speaks a lot about the level of distress / pressure he must have felt.
Of course, it is hard to tell for sure, if Zoro was so worried about Law because he already took to liking him, or was that more about saving ally as returning debt, since Law saved Nami, Chopper, Brook, Momonosuke and Sanji from Doflamingo. I personally think it is a mix of both reasons. Zoro always took seriously his duties and “promises” (and alliance is a form of unsaid promise) but for all Straw Hats, at this point of story Law was no more “just ally”. Whatever his reasons were, taking down Doflamingo was something very personal; a matter worth dying. Straw Hats, not even knowing the full story behind Law’s choice, did not want to let him down.
In the meanwhile, in the Royal Palace, Law was put on the throne of Corazon. It is hard to tell, was he truly unconscious or did he pretend to not bring the enemy's attention to himself but if the latter, he could listen to Doflamingo’s talk with (ex)King Riku about the situation. Luffy was stuck in the Colosseum, ignoring the plan. Franky was actually doing what he promised to do, but without any support, which was not good enough. Like Doffy said, the alliance's only pieces left were Pirate Hunter Zoro and samurai Kinemon whose location and intention were unknown. What wasn’t the best information but not the worst either - there was still hope Straw Hats had some plan in mind. Especially since Doflamingo did not mention at all what happened with the rest of the crew, so Sunny Go could sail already far away from Dressrosa.
Tumblr media
On their way, the rescue team was aided by dwarf Wicca and Viola, who had personal reasons to hate Doflamingo. With her help, pirates get a chance to invade the palace by secret passage not known even to the enemy (chapter 735). The long stairs were going to take them inside lower part of building but Zoro came with smart shortcut by using “handmade lift”
Tumblr media
While Kinemon was making sure Viola was not left behind, Zoro’s impatience showed up again by rushing Luffy - even though his captain wasn’t even fooling around and did as he was told.
Tumblr media
Was Zoro in such a hurry because of the heavy pressure of time (Law captured by enemy willing to hurt him beyond necessary and Franky’s team already on move) or just simple desire for fight, hard to tell for sure. But in all fairness, looking how Zoro was willing to follow Viola to another secret passage rather than directly attacking enemy soldiers (in contrast to Luffy who simply punched the main door with gomu gomu no gigant pistol), seems like saving Law was a serious matter to him, not just an occasion for a good fight. His reaction to Luffy’s directness points to that too, because usually Zoro was first to follow the captain into fight and not so ago his idea to get inside the colosseum unnoticed was to cut it… gently.
Tumblr media
Now, Zoro, Kinemon, Wicca and Viola were pretty shocked and / or pissed at Straw Hat. Zoro’s whole reaction was, well, extremely expressive.
Once Luffy made ruckus, Doflamingo was informed about intruders (chapter 736):
Tumblr media
Since Doffy was still in the same room as Law, Trafalgar may or may not hear that Luffy (who was supposed to fight in Colosseum, to Doffy’s great surprise) and Zoro actually get inside the palace. To save him, instead of destroying SMILE Factory. What, in the current state of Law’s mind was the wrong decision to make.
Anyway, the rescue team was soon confronted by Pica, one of three top Doflamingo’s officers. Zoro stayed behind to fight with the enemy, so Luffy and Viola could head to the throne room, to save Law (chapter 740).
In meanwhile, Law clearly regained consciousness, listening in silence to Doffy’s rant about Straw Hats and their unexpected attack on Sugar and connection to the little Tontatta people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Law of course couldn’t know what was going on since he had no information about Sugar’s role in enslaving people nor who the dwarves were. He said to Doflamingo he barely could understand what he was saying. Yet one look at his former boss (the biting nails reflex) could tell Trafagar how serious the situation was and maybe, just maybe the Straw Hats knew what they were doing which means that his plan wasn’t a total failure. Yet questioned, Law also said “I have nothing to do with them anymore… the alliance is over”.
Tumblr media
Law could say that to confuse (mess) with already uneasy Doflamingo or because he truly believed the alliance was over - or maybe rather, should be, to not drag Straw Hats into their death? Most likely it was a mix of all reasons, but one thing was clear - Law didn’t wait for rescue.
Soon it turned out that Straw Hats dealt a serious blow to the enemy. Law probably didn’t know what was going on, but hearing Trebol crying(?) over the Den Den Mushi and seeing Doflamingo’s reaction was some sort of reassurance in the difficult situation of his.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A victory of the alliance that seriously reduced the enemy's advantage. Then out of nowhere, a one-legged man (Kyros) attacked Doflamingo and soon Monkey D. Luffy showed up to fight Shichibukai. Law’s reaction? So, so unhappy to see Luffy who should (alongside with Zoro) worry about destroying factory rather him (chapter 744):
Tumblr media
Not that Luffy listened or cared for what Law had to say on the matter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The situation get out of Doflamingo’s control to the point he decided to use “Birdcage” - something that clearly terrified Law (a detail that will be important later to talk about):
Tumblr media
Luffy had a short lived skirmish with an enemy that ultimately ended by throwing Law, Luffy, Viola, KIng Riku, and Kyros out of the room by Pica (who went to aid Doflamingo). All of them landed in the place where Zoro already was (chapter 745), still looking for Pica who just disappeared during their fight. Doflamingo then started the Birdcage, intending to A) kill everyone (beside his own Family) before the truth would come out and B) make everyone play his “game” in which people murder each other (“Kill or be killed! All of the people of this country are now “hunters”!!! If you want to be saved… you have no choice but to take someone’s head!!!”) and C) set high prices on Straw Hat-Heart pirates and their allies. Zoro, Law and Luffy get on the list of course.
The next part: Protecting Law

Thoughts on Whole Cake Island arc and chapter 902
The Whole Cake Island arc is finally coming to an end.
How do I feel about it? Well... I have mixed feelings. I thought the first half was really great, it had almost everything I could hope for: a real sense of danger, interesting villains (especially Pudding tricking everyone), new characters, inner conflicts and dilemmas... everything was leading to a great climax, and since this is One Piece, everyone thought that the fights (and perhaps new powers) were granted - it wasn’t.
Instead, Oda decided to make some choices that I can’t help but feel like he wasted a lot of potential. Starting with the “fake” handcuffs: it seemed like a cheap way to get rid of a problem he created but regreted later. In my opinion, the Strawhats inflitrating the castle, like a heist, could be really interesting and could give us an emotional reunion with Sanji while they open the handcuffs.
The fake mask Sanji was wearing to hide his wounds was also a missed opportunity to make the Strawhats know about Sanji being a victim of abuse or even his entire past. It could be also an interesting scenario because Nami slapped his face without knowing about it. It seems like the only purpose of the mask was to make Pudding mock his injuries.
We ended up getting a funny heist to save Brook and the emotional reunion with only Sanji and Luffy (which was great), while Sanji communicated later with the rest by mirror shards - which lessed a lot the impact imo - but still was a nice scene. Oda skipped the group reunion immediately to show Capone’s plan.
Knowing about the plan was really anticlimactic to me. It was clear that it wouldn’t work as intended. The mother Carmel picture seems like just a set up for Elbaf, but back then it felt out of place and a really random condition to make Big Mom go “berserk”.
Which was also really disappointing as the yonkou was played like a fool by Nami, Brook and the others while she was chasing the SHs. The whole point about the cake being necessary to stop Big Mom was proved to be counter-effective. It seemed like she was really close to be defeated by lack of energy and while the cake really distracted her, it restored her strength. All the panels with Sanji and the cooks making the cake feels odd now. Despite Sanji being confirmed to be an extraordinary cook, the reaction the readers were expecting from Big Mom wasn’t really delivered by Oda.
Luffy was the only one that shined through fights, by defeating Cracker and Katakuri, two sweet commanders. It’s expected from the protagonist, but him being the only one, while the rest of the crew worked mostly as distractions and fought or clashed lesser opponents, was really bad to me. But it wasn’t only the good guys, Smoothie especially didn’t do anything relevant as a villain. The Germa also had few panels to show something, but at least they had some cool moments.
That said, let’s talk about Pudding, the most controversial character of this arc. She started as a sweet girl who seemed to be a perfect match for Sanji. Since she was supposed to be his bride, it made sense to make her exactly like that. It’s fair to create a certain narrative tension by making the readers wonder if Sanji would really tie the knot or not. If Pudding was immediately despicable, there wouldn’t be any tension, Oda wouldn’t pair one of the main characters with someone bad.
Then, the plot twist happened with Pudding being a great actress and a savage, by shooting Reiju and mocking Sanji in one of his most hopeless moments. She was supposed to be his “ray of hope”, which made her betrayal even more cruel but still epic from a narrative standpoint. It felt like a great and a progressive decision from Oda back then. There were several lessons we could take from that chapter, but one that I think it would be great is that appearances can be deceiving, and that not all girls are innocent. That could be really an interesting point for Sanji’s character as he tends to idolizes women and receives a lot of criticism in the fandom for that.
It happens that Oda didn’t want that, he basically rewrote Pudding’s character (adding the infatuation caused by a ludicrous compliment about her third eye) and last chapter seems some sort of a retcon of her actions, by making all her cruel deeds somewhat justified by the way she was raised. She ended up being another victim and a less interest character to me, despite all the depth. It seemed like Oda regreted making her evil or he wasn’t sure what to do with her character (actually the second half of the arc looked like he didn’t know the direction he wanted). Certainly, most if not all villains have a sad past that explains how they became the person they are. Doflamingo and Arlong are great examples of that. Pudding, however, was redeemed and it’s really likely that we are seeing her again and this time, it has great chances that she will be a damsel in distress by the vibes of this chapter, if she is not escaping.
Regarding her romantic feelings, we had the goodbye kiss, like it was expected, and it came from Pudding (she “stole” it), she is the one really sad about parting ways. Sanji was ready to say goodbye and didn't think twice about her. This doesn’t look like someone who is parting ways with someone he loves:
Tumblr media
Sanji finds Pudding attractive and he is grateful for everything she did, but it’s just that. To me, their relationship looked really one sided, even knowing that Sanji was with heart eyes after the kiss, but that's the usual Sanji and I can see him reacting like that if Kalifa or Viola kissed him. He is still a perv. xD I think Pudding knows that Sanji won't return her feelings:
Tumblr media
Since she was an important character and the bride of this wedding themed arc, I think Oda decided to gave her a proper farewell. But it wasn’t only her. This chapter also showed Katakuri. I think Oda was making a parallel with the people Luffy and Sanji “converted” from the enemy side. Pudding is obvious, but we also get to see Katakuri smiling after knowing that Luffy escaped. Other parallel is Jinbei and Germa staying behind to defend the Strawhats. They are also doing this because of Luffy and Sanji, respectively. This arc was heavily about Sanji and Luffy. So, more than just a Sanji and Pudding moment, I think the intention behind this chapter is to show the human side of Pudding and Katakuri and how Sanji and Luffy affected them. They are both characters that had childhood problems, with the SHs accepting them the way they are, unlike many of the citizens of WCI.
Back to Pudding, it seems to me like this is the end of a romance that wasn't really meant to be, given the circunstamces of an arranged marriage. There is, of course, still the possibility of them meeting again in the future and I admit that the ship has more depth now and Pudding's feelings are genuine. It’s fair to say it’s a stronger ship now, but at the same time it feels to me like it’s destined to be tragic rather than canon. I just think that it's really difficult to imagine why Sanji discovering about this kiss would change anything from his side or how he would end up discovering it to begin with, as I don't think Pudding has the intention to reveal it:
Tumblr media
Sanji still remembers everything except the kiss, and it doesn’t seem like Pudding really impacted him that much as we didn’t see Sanji thinking about her. I think the kiss will remain as Pudding's own memento of her bittersweet end - it was a last wish after all. Hopefully she will find someone like she hinted when they first met her at the café.
That said, I certainly don't blame people shipping them now because the angst was real from Pudding's side and people might want her to be happy with the guy she loves. It's unfortunate that Oda is really giving moments to ships, including SaNa, knowing that some of them won't happen in the end (perhaps none of them will happen). I really don't like this kind of bait and all sides can feel legit betrayed in the end after all the "tease".
It’s up to Oda, like always. But I’m glad that Sanji is back with the crew and that we are moving on from this arc. There are still many years to come from One Piece and we can take a lesson from this arc: a chapter can change everything, so until the end, there is hope for everyone. ^^

Online Relationships
“Personalities and relationships tend to differ offline. “
(Part 1) I (Part 2)
Title: Online Relationships- Part 3
Pairing:Trafalgar Law X Nami
Genre: Romance/ AU
Rating: T
Word Count: 2828
Disclaimer: I do not own One Piece, they rightfully belong to Oda Eiichiro
"He stole a gun from where?!" Nami shouted in disbelief.
"The Marine Head Quarters." Sabo, Luffy's brother, repeat for the nth time.
"I know this is just our brother's stupidity, but we need your help, Nami." Ace, another brother of Luffy, pleaded.
"Let's take him to the hospital. Chopper's already having a hard time taking the bullet in his chest with the tools he has." Nami said as she looks over her best friend, Luffy, that was groaning in pain as Chopper tries to touch his skin.
"We've already told you, we should not. Our brother would get arrested for what he did." Sabo reasoned out.
"Your grandfather is an Admiral. I'm sure he could pull some strings for Luffy. We need to do this or else he would die." Nami said in despair.
"Luffy would die from Gramps' wrath. Sending him to jail would better than what would Gramps do to him if he knew what he did." Ace shivered at the thought.
"Nami, Luffy's condition is worsening. I'm a failure as a doctor." Chopper's eyes teared.
"Chopper, you can do it. Luffy would not die of something like that he has a very strong will that would keep him alive." Nami comforted his friend.
"I know my limits as a doctor. I specialize in making medicines, not on surgeries. We really need a surgeon."
"A surgeon." Nami thought for a second. "Law is a surgeon and he is the best one in his class." She gleamed as she finally has the answer to their problems.
She quickly dialed his number and to her relief he quickly answered her call.
"Law! It's Nami, I need your help."
"Nami-ya? What's the problem?"
"It's Luffy." She briefly discussed how her best friend ended up being operated in her condominium unit. Around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, Sabo and Ace came banging her unit's door. They brought the already injured Luffy. She hastily made the guest room's bed so his friend could comfortably rest. Sabo had already given his brother first aid treatment before they went to Nami's, however, they needed Chopper's assistance to get the bullet out of Luffy's body.
Law sighed from the other line. "I'll ask more details later. Can you bring him over my apartment? I'll text you the address."
Sabo drive so fast that Nami swear she saw sparks of fire in the wheels. Thankfully, they all reach Law's apartment in one piece. They were greeted by Law in the garage to open a parking space for Sabo's car.
"Law! Thank you for helping us." Chopper said while crying.
"Tony-ya, it's my duty as an upcoming doctor. You need to compose yourself. I'll be needing your assistance." Law said to the reindeer.
Law had a small clinic in his basement. He made it with the old apparatus and machines from his uncle's hospital. It is where he practices, experiments and other stuff like patching up Eustass Kid when he gets in trouble with the police. What he is doing could revoke his future medical license, but he is a man who does what he wants most of the time so it doesn't matter.
Taking out the bullet from Luffy's body was an easy work for Law. Being a genius surgeon and someone who has been practicing medicine since the age of 7, he knew what to do in such case. Chopper was assistance was a great help that fasten up the operation, however, it still took hours to finish. Luffy lost a lot of blood so Law transferred some of Ace and Sabo's blood for him to recover.
Nami was so worried about Luffy. Law did not allow her to enter the clinic so she settled in his living room. From time to time, Ace or Sabo would come out of the clinic and tell her what is happening. Relief washed over her when she heard that Luffy was stable. His brothers went out to get them dinner as a gratitude to their brother's successful operation. Nami wanted to see her friend, but Law still hasn't allowed her to enter the clinic. She decided to relax in the living room couch while waiting. All the fatigue, stress mixed with the relief she was feeling made her tired causing her to doze off and sleep on the couch.
"Law, I'll finish wrapping up his wounds." Chopper said while carefully bandaging his friend.
"I'll call Nami-ya. I'm sure she'll want to see her.... boyfriend?" Law was quite unsure what the relationship of the two is. There were rumors around the campus saying that Luffy was dating Nami. They are frequently seen together being too close to one another. Although it was Luffy who introduced to Nami, he can't help being jealous of how they interact with one another.
"Luffy is not Nami's boyfriend. From what I know, she likes someone from the university. I overhead Sanji and Zoro talk about it, but I never knew who it was." Chopper clarified.
Law simply nod, then, he went to where Nami was. She was sleeping soundly on the couch. He eyed her fair skin and cute sleeping face that draws him near her. To resist the temptation, he gently covered Nami's body with a blanket. Then, he sat on the carpet leaning on the legs of the couch. Being close to her, he could still smell the Tangerine mixed with the ocean smell from her. He sighed and tried to doze off.
"Done with Luffy?" Nami said while her eyes peeking over the blanket covering her.
Law turned his head to her direction. "Yeah. Strawhat-ya is safe now."
"Thank you, Law." She said fondly. She sat upright with the blanket still on her shoulder, then she taps the available space next to her. "Come sit here."
"Nah. Too tired to move." Law wanted to sit beside her, but he smells like blood because of the operation. He didn't want her to smell him like that.
"Okay." Nami ruffled his hair. "Thank you again, Law. What you did mean so much to me. I don't know how could I take it if Luffy died."
“You two are really close.”
“We’ve known each other since first year college. I know I could always count on him like how he could rely on me. He’s a brother to me.” Nami said in nostalgia.
“Just a brother? I thought you two are dating.”
“Why would you think that? I mean we are always together, but our relationship was platonic. I’ll never see him more than a friend or brother.” Nami explained which soothe Law’s worries away.
Both liked how they can freely talk right now. They both wish this moment would repeat again whenever they see one another at the university.
It was almost closing time of Baratie Diner. Most customers are off their last plate or waiting for their bill. One table appeared to be cheerful like they still have all night. Luffy, Zoro, Nami and Robin were on that table. Luffy kept on asking for refills of his meal which was catered by their friend, Sanji, who was working in that restaurant. The diner' s owner, Chef Zeff, allows them to stay in and hang out in all Baratie's branches even way past closing time as long as Sanji was with them. Today, they were all gathered due to Sanji's requested. Ussop, Chopper. Franky and Chopper have some things to do so they weren't able to comply with his request.
When the other customers all left, Sanji quickly joined his friends. He has a very important news to share with them.
"I'm getting married." Sanji said.
The shock was painted in the faces of his friends. They could not believe that the woman loving friend they have is settling down. Despite that, they greeted him congratulations except for Zoro. Luffy commented on how weddings have a lot of food and they should have the biggest cake in the world.
"So, who's the unlucky girl?" Zoro questioned.
"Unlucky? What do you mean by that?" Sanji glared.
Zoro was about to answer, but Nami intercept. "Who's the girl, Sanji? We wanted to know the details."
"My lovely Nami, I shall tell you how it happened." Sanji said in a deary tone. "My beautiful fianćee is the one and only Charlotte Pudding. The moment I saw her Facegram profile, I fell in love. "
"What you just met her online? Well, what do I expect from a love cook." Zoro mocked.
"Shut up, Marimo. Let me finish my story." Sanji rebutted. "Both our families are prominent in the technology business which is why my father wanted an alliance. We were forced into this arranged marriage, however, I just can't help but fall in love with her. "
The girls awed at how bold he is expressing his feelings. Zoro wanted to puke hearing his love-sick friend. Luffy continued to eat with delight.
"Have you met her personally?" Robin inquired.
"No, but based on her facegram account she's a really sweet and kind girl. She even asked me out to meet her in advance before our predestined meeting with our families. Pudding is really lovely." Sanji glee.
"So, you chat one another, huh? That's really nice." Nami said while remembering her relationship with Law.
"This cook might mess up like before." Zoro pointed at Sanji. "You know the Viola incident."
All of them remembered that time. It was three years ago, during Zoro, Sanji, Luffy and Nami's first year in college. Robin has been already in her fourth year in the university that time.
Viola was the university's superstar. She was a slender, charismatic dancer, sophisticated and came from a well-off family. Her beauty magnifies whenever she dances in her Flamenco dress in university events. Sanji was entranced by her beauty. He quickly added her up in facegram and messaged her.
Hi, my one and only idol Viola ~
At first, she replies modestly in his messages. Everyone could be your idol when it comes to dancing. However, thank you.
Sanji continued to chat her whenever he had a chance. There were even times he mentioned that he saw her inside her classes. She finds it very odd, but nevertheless she still answered. He even used his friend, Gin, as an excuse to get her number but he failed. He continued to pursue on chatting her till she stops replying. He wept for days to the he even wanted to confront her. Zoro knocked some sense into him by telling that they barely interact personally and he should just give up.
That time Sanji went back to amorous flirty attitude to any attractive women he sees. He vowed never to settle down to loving just one girl again. He belonged to all the ladies in the world.
"I believe Sanji has learned well from that incident. But, I suggest that you tone down for a little bit. You still haven't seen her aside from what is on the internet." Robin warned.
"Whatever makes you happy, we'll support you. Just be yourself with her. I'm sure it will work out fine." Nami said.
"Thank you, my lovely angels." Sanji was touched by his friends' words.
"Oi Sanji!" Luffy said seriously. "Don't forget to have a big cake in the wedding!"
They laughed at their friend's comment.
Navigation focuses on monitoring and controlling moments of a craft from one place to another. Ironic, that Nami specialized in this field, but failed to navigate her feelings and situations on the right track.
Her professor in Navigation was also her professor in Cartography 1, back when she was in her first year. Professor Arlong is sophisticated and hard to impress when it comes to Oceanographic subjects. His subjects became a bottleneck for his students. Though he was a good lecturer, it was his bossy and dominant attitude that makes his students dislike him.
Even professors are not exempted with social media problems. Nami remembers that when she was taking up Cartography 1, a drop out student rant about Arlong in social media. It was a big issue for a lot of students are scared to say a thing about him. Arlong was enraged by the post in Facegram, he also talked about it in his classes, however, he decided not to take any other actions.
Back then, his actions scared Nami most. She was afraid that she would fail Cartography because her professor was mad. Her fear was lifted when she passed the said subject. It made her think that maybe Arlong was just misunderstood.
"Okay class, you are dismissed." Arlong said to his students. "Bepo, Nami, stay for a while. There's something I'd like to discuss." His sharp eyes were serious as ever.
The two students stayed behind. Bepo was curious why they were called by their professor.
"I don't know if you heard, but there is another occurrence of social media rant about me. This time the faculty is quite shaken." Arlong started the conversation.
"You mean the #FireTheShark Campaign? I've heard it from some of my colleagues." Nami inquired.
The #FireTheShark Campaign is an on-going social media campaign that raises awareness of the hardships of the students taking up a course under Professor Arlong. The admin of the said website that holds the campaign remain anonymous and continue to gather petition from students. They wanted Arlong to be fired.
"Yes! That crazy campaign. I'm furious at how my students could do that. As college students, I expected you to be more open minded. " Arlong ranted.
"Um, I'm sorry, Professor, but this is the first time I've heard about it. We, Mink Tribe, are not too familiar to social media." Bepo said apologetically.
Nami was quite skeptical of what she should say. She knew who are the masterminds in the campaign. It is Vander Decken and his crew. In front of Arlong, they act like they really like him, but outside the four corners of the room they despise Arlong. Not wanting to be involved in such issues, she decided not tell Arlong about it.
Arlong looked at Nami to find an answer. "I'm sorry, Professor. I don't know who did it. But, I believe that you should be bothered by it. The world is still full of fun things to be upset over angry students." Nami advised.
"Very well. Thank you to the two of you. You are dismissed."
Chopper caught a flu at the peak of their midterms. Nami being a good friend took care of him. Sanji occasionally went to visit to bring food and check on Chopper.
"Nami, I'm already late for my classes. Dr. Kureha would give me a bad grade if I don't show up in her classes." Chopper said weakly.
"But Chopper you are still sick. Don't worry, I'll get some notes for you and talk to some of your classmates to inform your professors."
"Thank you Nami."
'Bing'. A notification rang on Nami's smart phone.
Sanji-kun sent a photo to Strawhats
Nami laughed at the photo Sanji sent. It was a screencap of Law's latest status. Don't you think I'm a heart stealer? ;)
She quickly opened her facegram to check Law's account, however, she could not find the certain status anymore. Law probably deleted it because obviously, it’s his friends who posted it. He would never do such things.
Remembering what Chopper needed, she quickly messaged Law. Hey, can you give Chopper some notes? He's been sick for 2 days now.
Sure. I'll just take pictures then send it to you. He quickly replied. Then after a few minutes he sent the pictures.
Thank you Mr. Heart stealer. Nami teased.
Even you saw it? Damn. I couldn't delete it because a lot of people saw it.
Aw, you didn't delete it? I was going to comment; however, it was gone after I clicked it.
It’s still here. Anyway, I'm going to study. Bye.
It was just a subtle conversation, but Nami was content. It puts her in a very good mood. Law was really dedicated in his studies. He doesn't talk too much when he is focused and Nami finds it inspiring. She also finds herself studying harder when he is studying. Which is good because tomorrow she has an examination.
Tomorrow came and Nami was sitting in front of her room, waiting for the previous class to finish. Being bored she decided to open her facegram account. To her delight, Law's status last night popped up on her news feed. She read the comment section and saw most of his friends mentioned her name but didn't tag her.
"Oh. A heart stealer, huh?" She quickly commented to tease him. Then she turned her phone into silent mode since she will enter the examination hall.
It was merely just to tease him a little bit. Little did Nami know, a simple comment could launch a series of events that could change their lives.
