It wouldn't be Xenoblade if there wasn't a level 80 "fuck you" gorilla in the early grassy lands.

Started playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I skipped 2, but after seeing a bunch of fanart of the cute High Entia, I decided to check it out. Very happy to report, that she is part of the initial party and seems to have a prominent role! She’s very much unlike Melia (who is my favourite from XC1), but that’s all good. I like her boisterous and sassy attitude a lot.
Bit of a shame, that she’s the healer. I’d always have Melia as the party lead and enjoy her fairly open style of combat. Not that I can even change party lead at the moment, but there’s no way it’ll stay like that. I hope there’ll be more to Eunie’s healer gameplay than there is with Sharla. Sharla is a competent medic, but not very engaging to play as directly.
Gameplay immediately feels familiar, which I like. So far it's simpler than XC1, but given how heavy-handed the tutorials are in this it’ll definitely all get opened up in time. Also works in tandem with the plot that there aren’t many choices to be made.
Once again I am also very happy with the translation. It’s very charming and flows naturally.

No spoilers of any kind please. Story, characters, gameplay, it’s all spoilers.

Genuine question, not trying to be sassy or an ass: what DO you like about Xenoblade? You have so many criticisms of 1, hate 2 (understandable have a nice day), dislike/are apathetic towards X, mostly hate DE & FC, hate Monolithsoft.... why do you still consider yourself a fan? What do you like about this series (or at the very least 1)?
well realistically theres a lot i love about xb1 and my constant criticisms of it are usually in jest/its a lot easier to consistently bitch abt something than compliment it/its obviously got its flaws ect ect you know,, having criticisms of something doesnt mean i cant like it also for the record often ill play up dramatics for the sake of it and in truth im not so Passionate abt it irl bc im at least somewhat normal

@tricksterfinale : xenoblade 2?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OK, I feel like if you ever played XC2, that you and Jin would be a match made in heaven. His story is fucking everything, and his reasoning for what he does in the main story is just, ugh ghgughg, I hate that I don’t wanna give away major spoilers, because it’s that good.
He’s more on the quiet side, he’s observant, and very low-key sassy especially when he’s talking to Mythra, but he’s also very loyal to his driver, and then towards Malos in the main events, and his whole story is just so SAD but I feel like you would do him so much justice.

Top 10 Switch Exclusives
With Nintendo finally pulling themselves out of the mild rut they found themselves in with the Wii U, the Switch is now producing games of monumental quality, so I’m here to take you through the top ten essential Switch exclusives for those of you who just don’t know which games to pick!
Note: I’m including Wii U ports here bc the Switch did them better and they’re still Nintendo so u know
Tumblr media
10. Octopath Traveler
Tumblr media
One of the many fruits of Nintendo and Square Enix’s growing partnership, Octopath Traveler is an adorable, retro-style JRPG that released on the system in mid-2018. The game features turn-based combat and eight playable characters that vary massively from each other in their personalities and backgrounds, meaning the game always has a fresh perspective. Overall, this is a creative but somewhat underrated title for the Switch that you should definitely pick up if you’re a fan of RPGs.
9. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Tumblr media
The latest entry in the DK series brings all of the bright colours, charm and difficulty in glorious HD on the Switch. While this was ported over from the Wii U, it’s certainly a worthy port to say the least. For fans of challenging platforming, Donkey Kong will tick all the boxes for someone who enjoys fun, colourful gameplay that will sometimes make you want to tear your hair out in frustration. Though, if you want things to be slightly less hard, the brand new funky mode lets you play as Funky Kong (but to be honest with you, it’s still hard. I know I keep mentioning it’s hard but I just really need to drive that home).
8. Bayonetta 2
Tumblr media
The critically acclaimed hack ‘n’ slash series Bayonetta, while it began on the Xbox 360, is now a Nintendo exclusive, and the sequel to the already mind-blowing first game is definitely something to behold. The fast-paced, combat heavy gameplay is perfect for the Switch and, of course, Bayonetta as a character is as brilliant as ever. So if you’re someone who would enjoy fighting massive demon creatures as a semi-naked, sassy witch then boy is the franchise for you.
7. Super Mario Party
Tumblr media
It’s the game that everyone’s citing as ‘the one that made Mario Party good again’. That’s right, the latest iteration of Mario Party on the Switch has ditched the weird car system that made it not into a board game, and now it’s a board game again! Perfect for any small awkward friend group or big party you misjudged and brought a Switch to, this game comes packed with 80 new minigames. Which is a lot. So if you like Mario and party, then pick this up. Prepare for lots of motion controls.
6. Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Tumblr media
Another one for JRPG fans, it’s the latest entry in the series that made a name for itself for having anime-style protagonists with weird British accents, it’s Xenoblade 2! Another one of Nintendo’s charming, unique series, Xenoblade boasts an array of memorable characters, a polished, enjoyable combat system and a story just weird enough to be placed alongside most other JRPGs. Throw on top of that a solid DLC add-on in Torna and you’ve got yourself one fine viddy game experience that will definitely swallow up a couple hundred hours of your life.
5. Splatoon 2
Tumblr media
The Splatoon series is one of Nintendo’s newest, shiniest IPs that sees their first and hugely successful foray into an online shooter. Splatoon subverts everything we know about the online shooter genre, which now seems to be over-saturated with gritty, laggy messes with little depth and has given us a genuinely fun and colourful game. A variety of game modes, weapons and customisation options for your Inkling bolster this game’s addiction factor and, on top of that, the recent Octo expansion throws in a genuinely solid single player campaign to boot. This is one basically everyone needs to try.
4. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Tumblr media
The latest and greatest in Nintendo’s flagship fighting series, Ultimate was basically dropped on us at E3 and gave us all a heart attack. If you somehow haven’t heard, Ultimate brought back every single veteran to the series, as well as a solid handful of new characters, plus DLC coming this year that includes Joker from Persona 5 and a plant. If that hasn’t piqued your interest, I don’t think anything will. One of the most ridiculously fun multiplayer experiences you will ever have is waiting for you in this game, especially when playing locally with friends, and the new spirits system has helped to conceive an equally amazing single player campaign, World of Light. This game is oozing with fun and intense love for the gaming industry and you can really tell how much hard work they put into this. Go play it.
3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Tumblr media
Quite possibly the definitive multiplayer experience, Mario Kart has been a staple of most people’s get-togethers since the first entry on the SNES. And much like Smash, Nintendo have created the series’ best entry in 8. Ported over from the Wii U, this game includes all of the DLC plus some new characters and karts, so for some reason you can now play as Link in Mario Kart! Cool! I don’t think anyone knows how to feel about this! The point is, it’s fun so you should probably play it.
2. Super Mario Odyssey
Tumblr media
Odyssey is hotly contested to be one of the best 3D Mario games since 64, but even if that somehow isn’t true, you can’t deny how wonderfully unique it is. Each kingdom brings something new to the table; a lush, interesting environment in each one. With so many highlights to pick, from the brilliant puzzles to the new Cappy possession system to the boss fight with the massive dragon, Odyssey is packed full of content and collectibles to keep you coming back. Plus, the festival sequence in New Donk City? I want to play that bit forever.
Before I reveal the top pick that might seem glaringly obvious now, here are some other games that didn’t quite make the 10 but are also v much worth your attention!
Kirby: Star Allies
Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Tumblr media
I mean, what else was it going to be? Zelda came roaring through the gates when the Switch was finally released and boy, did it deliver. Being the first Zelda game to delve properly into open world, an intense amount of love and detail was poured into every single moment of this beautiful game. Following the themes of lost memories and friendship, you travel across the vast land of Hyrule as Link trying to recover the memory of who he was 100 years ago. And each combat, each encounter, each visit to literally anywhere will leave you laughing, crying or anything in between. This was a game so powerful, it immediately became my favourite game of all time. I know there are a lot of people out there whose hearts are still with Ocarina, but for those new to the series who want a genuinely amazing, heartfelt experience, let Breath of the Wild swallow your whole life. As sinister as that sentence sounds, you really won’t regret it.
Thanks for reading! Let me know your favourite Switch game down below, if you wanna. Hope u find some money in one of your pockets that you didn’t know about.

So @great-hero-yellow tagged me in this, so I gotta talk about my Super Smash Bros Ultimate roster. So let's go!
MAINS
1. Corrin
Tumblr media
I'm not gonna lie, I suck at SSB. The only reason I'm any good, is this good good (broken, some would say) boy here. And my strategy with him? Button smashing and counter spam. Deadass, that's how I rock this dude. I've even beat great-hero-yellow with a well timed counter from him, it's that good. So yeah, this guy is my main and I intend to keep it that way. His only downfall is his recovery sometimes goes in the wrong direction and you can't move after using it, so I just watch him drift to his doom
2. Marth
Tumblr media
Have you seen his white colored alt? It's gorgeous, and the reason I started using him tbh. And I'm not that bad with him either. His only downfall for me is he has no good basic down attack. I remember his counter when I accidentally trigger it, and I don't really know how to do Dancing Blade properly, but he's probably my second best character, and again, Damn that's a nice white outfit
3. Shulk
Tumblr media
I love this picture, it's such a mood. A few months before his release trailer, I got into Xenoblade Chronicles, so I was thrilled when he joined the roster. Alas, he's a technical fighter that requires strategy and well timed movements and attacks. I'm no good at any of that. It was a rough go at first, but I slowly (very slowly) got the hang of him. When I die its most likely by spamming backslash, and then using one too close to the edge of the stage, and down he goes. But yeah, I like using him, he's alright. The Monado's defese skill is a blessing
NON-MAINS
1. It's me, bitch! (Mii Sword Fighter)
Tumblr media
Yeah it's kinda lame, but I'm a sucker for self inserts. Also I love making Miis. So I made myself a sword fighter cause swords are cool (also the ninja outfit looked cool). They have a lot of personalization with their attack style, so it's fun to mess around with. Mine has a good recovery, a strong down attack, and even a counter. Side-b is fun, but I'm also prone to go flying off the edge of the stage towards death with it, so there's that, but otherwise I think I've built a solid Mii. If only I was good at the game to utilize it lol
2. Bayonetta
Tumblr media
When her trailer dropped, I was enamored with her. She's beautiful, sexy, and sassy, and I love it all. Hell, Nintendo had to change the rating just to get her in the game, and her trailer had a warning for "implied sexual themes" which kills me every time I see it. And yes, I do go back and watch it every now and then to relive that glory. But again, she's a very technical character, and unlike Shulk I didn't get too good with her. I'm not terrible, and I can get off one of those long combos every now and again, and witch time is fun when I remember to use it, but her wicked weaves are hard to trigger and miss half the time so yeah. I mostly play them just to piss great-hero-yellow off because of the sleight her trailer gave to the Kid Icarus characters
3. Pikachu
Tumblr media
Pikachu was my main in Brawl, and I was actually fairly good with him. He has a fantastic recovery, and let's be real, thunder spam does in fact work. But for some reason, I'm not too good with him in smash 4. Maybe that'll change in Ultimate, but for now I don't use him all that much, but I love him the same. Also, the emerald headband is the cutest alt, don't test me
NEW AND RETURNING CHARACTERS TO TRY
1. Snake
Tumblr media
I played Snake a little bit in Brawl, and honestly it's mostly because of his ass (rip snakes ass in Ultimate). I don't think I was too good, but it's been so long since I've played so who knows. I'll probably try him out in Ultimate cause why not.
2. Isabelle
Tumblr media
Look at her, she's so precious and pure. I haven't played much of the Animal Crossing games, I'm not too big a fan of real time based games, but even so I got excited when she was introduced to Smash, and I do enjoy her. Besides, who could fight this adorable face and not feel guilt? That's how I plan to play her
3. Incineroar
Tumblr media
My boy is here. I chose Litten as my starter in the Alola games, and I truly loved Incineroar, so when I saw him kick that Ken dudes ass, I was overjoyed. He doesn't look like he'll be the best fighter tbh, with the slowest walking speed in the game, but one of his attacks does have a large smash radius, though I can't remember which at this time. But yeah, I love my buff bara cat, and I do plan on trying to use them. Besides, slow characters means I can't get too close to the edge, right? Right?
HONORABLE MENTIONS
I do wanna try playing the Inklings, they're really cute. And Chrom, I'm so glad he's got his chance. Also, I did play a bit as Robin, but I'm not too good tbh. And I may try picking up Roy and Ike, I like their characters but they have pretty bad recoveries, so idk maybe I'll try again.
Anyways, that's my Smash Roster plans. If any of you want to go ahead and do this, feel free. I don't talk to many of my mutuals here, so I'm not gonna tag anyone, sorry. But tag me if you do this, I'd love to see others players, and maybe we can trade friend codes and play together when the game comes out

Something ELSE I love about the localization of this game is how they differentiated the nations. Gormotti are cat people, Indoline are blue, Tantalease have red eyes. It's said they all evolved from their own titans, so it makes sense they'd have separate traits.
ALTHOUGH with the dub, they gave them all separate accents. Blades, for the most part, have an American accent while Letherians have a north England accent, Gormotti are Welsh, Ardainians are Scottish, Urayans are Australian... It's such an interesting thing to do with a dub that I haven't ever seen another game do.
This even carried over into Xenoblade 3 a bit as Sena, who is very clearly a Blade, has an American accent.

Alright this is a legit nitpick that has bothered me from day 1, so yes I am finally going to say something negative about the designs of this game.
Dromarch is the ONLY unique animal Blade. There's over 30 rare Blades and ALL OF THEM are humanoid. I'd say Finch is the closest we get to another animal (and god I love her) but I always have been disappointed that there weren't more.

With this close-up of Nia's wanted poster, I think it's time I dive into the game's fictional language.
If you allow me to get out the Alrestian translator, Nia's wanted poster translates to...
Tumblr media
SIMEITEHAI
Konokaomikaketara
Rennrakusurukoro
Which, according to Chuggaaconroy's LP with his sources, in English translates to "Fugitive Warrant If you see this face please contact"
Most Alrestian in this game actually translates into English quite easily (even the Alrestian on the side of the Japanese art book is in English), but these posters don't. It's instead Japanese written with English characters. If you're unfamiliar with how Alrestian works, it can be a tad tricky because there's no spaces, but it is essentially just a font with each character corresponding to an English letter or number. It's not gibberish, but actual words. For instance this is the side of the art book:
Tumblr media
It reads "And thus, boy met girl"
These posters are one of the few instances where it's actually a sentence in Japanese. Many others feature the game's Japanese titles, such as the Alrest map here.
Tumblr media
World tree translates to "Sekaiju" which is what it's called in Japanese. Same for Gormott: "Gura". (I'll admit, the hand-painted style of this poster makes it a bit hard to read since the characters are stylized.)
This is also the case with locations, such as Mymoma Playhouse.
Tumblr media
"Bajena theater"
Basically, there ARE English words used in Alrestian and most of the use of Japanese are proper nouns, which means with context, it shouldn't be too hard to find what they're referring to.
That makes these wanted posters quite unique!

It's funny how this scene (and Blushy Crushy) is constantly used to be like "LOOK HOW GROSS AND ANIME THIS GAME IS" meanwhile Xenoblade 2 fans are like "Pyra makes the twerp squirm, this is great"
Also yeah, this is a JRPG with an anime artstyle, yet you're surprised it uses anime tropes? Where did you get your wires crossed?
