Sentient Chapter 3: Disdain
Long time no see! Happy New years Everyone.
It took me so long to figure out the ending to this Chapter, but I figured it out.
Sentient is supposed to be a wacky Self Aware! AU type of series, so I try to maintain that sillyness.
New Team comp: Scara. Nahida, Kokomi and Kuki Reminder: Masha is the name I chose for Scara
I was rushing to just get this out, so expect me to re edit or take some things out ^^.
3k+ (tried to make it long, to make up for my abscence and how long it's gonna take for me to think up the next chapter.
Hope you enjoy :3
Disdain- a feeling of contempt for someone or something regarded as unworthy or inferior.
A/N: After this chapter, I will not be tagging you individually for this series.
If you want to be tagged, follow here
First Chapter is Here
“Your eyes are like topaz, pure, precious, and lovely; I like them.”
4.0 came with the release of a blonde magician who has been stealing everyone’s hearts by the name of Lyney.
He works as a magician part-time alongside his assistant and twin sister Lynette. After taking a break for months from playing Genshin, you heard a small commercial of him and his sister advertised on the new region trailer.
“Ladies and gentlemen, she did it. This has been Lyney and Lynette’s magic show!” His cheerful voice reverberated from the speaker on your phone.
You could not help but smile at the way his art looked and how much energy he gave off.
He resembled Joker from the Black Butler Circus arc and Kagamine Len, two of your favorite characters.
The trailer continues as you see the Fatui harbinger of this new region, who also piques your interest. The black and white hair and attitude resembling Cruella Devil.
‘What role would she play as someone who is connected to Lyney and Lynette?’
‘Also, what is the Traveler going to get into this time?’
You ponder, not expecting the answer that would soon come with that.
Not too soon after the trailer dropped, the chapter and the Archon Quest came out. You boot up the game on your PlayStation, only to groan at seeing the update sign. You press X as you wait for it to download.
A ping comes from your phone as you pick it up.
Them: Hey.
You glance at the number for a moment before locking the phone once more. You shake of the negative emotion, as your head excitedly, grabbing one of your anime plushies.
“I’m so excited.” You cheer, grabbing one of the plush toys in your room and dancing around. Her aroma catches your nostrils as you spin with the plushie. You lean into the plush unconsciously.
“Hey, F/N, what are you excited about?” Your smile drops as you put the plushie back down. Grabbing your phone, you check the text again before going through the other contacts.

Friend’s Name
You stop as you get to a name that’s not on the top. “Aisha?” You click the name while going through the text messages. The name clicks as you scroll up further.
It has been a while since you last saw her, huh? You click on a message and send her a small text.
“Hey.” Sent at 17:30
You turn off your phone as your PlayStation dings and loads the game. A picture of Scara and his team from your photos is shown as the advertisement image. Scara glares at Childe, who winks at the camera, gripping the shorter man’s hat. Nahida, Kazuha, and Kuki remain in the background, watching the situation ahead.
The image remains as the promotional photo, unlike last time, as the screen goes black.
The game loads through quickly as the door appears. You click it as the game loads through.
“Welcome back (player name)!” Green text floats on screen as the background changes to Vanessa’s tree.
‘Wait, where were you last time?’
Your answer gets solved as the camera moves up the tree, stopping just directly in front of a certain bard. He stops playing the game theme as the camera zooms in on him.
His teal eyes met yours as a small smile grew on his face.
“Hey (player name)!” He gives you a small wave, greeting you. Small wind chimes sound from the speakers of your television.
The anemo archon was one of your characters that you traveled with, but only rarely. You were too busy trying to build your beloved Masha so that he could one-shot enemies.
“Hello Venny.” A small smile appears on his face.
“Where have you been? We’ve all been worried about you.”
“I was busy with work and home stuff.” He nods in an understanding manner.
“You know that’s interesting, because I heard from a small pigeon that you had free time as of recently.” You froze in place, causing his cheerful expression to grow.
“I was so worried about you. I think Masha was as well.” Your ears perk up upon hearing the blue-haired man’s name.
“Yeah, he sometimes stands by the entrance of Mondstadt city, just waiting.” He lets out a small laugh as he dodges an incoming sandal thrown.
You hear Masha’s flying sound as he comes into the cut scene from the bottom of the screen. The scene looked similar to people in a co-op jumping in the background of a cut scene.
“Shut up, bard.” He becomes part of the cutscene before turning to you.
“Come on, let’s go.” The camera pans towards him as he leads the way.
After teleporting, you both make it to the cliff that overlooks Fontaine.
The city sits almost floating from the distance that you both stood. You could hear the music change as you both grew closer.
“The fishes!’’ You stop along the way looking at the design changes in the new region.
He rolls his eyes at your excitement, continuing forward.
“Hey!” He ignores you as he flies forward, reaching the dock in the area. You could see an albino-haired girl, whom you assume is Lynette, standing near the edge of the dock, watching for something.
You were about to approach when, Paimon dragged you both into a scene. She walks over to the girl and begins her dialogue as you watch it play out.
The camera pans back to where the traveler is supposed to be; instead, it is Masha. The screen blacks out for a momentarily.
“Ah! When did you get there?” She looks back at the Traveler to see Masha in her place. He raises an eyebrow at her and continues the dialogue that the traveler is supposed to have.
“Hey, Paimon is talking to you!” She stomps her foot in the air. The girl glances at her before explaining herself. Paimon is cut off when a blonde-haired man entered the conversation, calling to the girl.
“I don’t think we’ve had the pleasure of meeting; are you Lynette’s new friends?” He takes his place next to his sister. He glances at Masha and towards the white-haired pixie floating in front of him.
“Thanks for looking after my sister. Oh, allow me to introduce myself. I am Lyney, and this is my sister Lynette.” He paused mid-dialogue at the sound of screaming. He looked around, concerned, before glancing towards where the imaginary camera would be.
“He’s here!’’
He gives a small smile towards your direction further, causing your cheers to gain traction from the others.
Masha sighs. tipping his hat down, trying to pretend you weren’t traveling with him. He waits for a few minutes before continuing the dialogue as Lyney follows his queue, ignoring you as background noise. Before their conversation continues, the archon comes into view.
Everyone claps as she does a small curtsey, going into her speech.
Masha tunes out her speech, resembling that of the girl and that bird illusion he met a long time ago.
His left eye twitches slightly as she takes a long time to get to the point.
“As the Hydro Archon, I Focalors, welcome you to Fontaine.” You clap at her introduction along with the characters.
Compared to the past three archon quests after Venti, it’s been awhile since an archon and their people have welcomed Traveler.
She’s number one on the welcoming committee of Genshin, compared to Amber’s cut scene from the beginning of the game.
“Now if you have no objections, then in the name of the Hydro Archon, I order your arrest.”
“Wait what?”
The scene changes to the teleportation ping as Masha takes you back to Mondstadt.
“How Irritating.” The speech bubble pops up on screen before disappearing.
You tried teleporting back to Fontaine, but every time you click on the teleporter there, it says access denied. You roll your eyes, pulling up the wish menu for Lyney’s banner. At least you could travel with the cute blonde in the meantime.
After 36 pulls, the star turned goldish-red as Lyney appeared on screen. You stare at it before checking his character, before checking the splash art once more.
Going into characters, you click on his hello line.
“This is no mere illusion, tis I, Lyney! The greatest magician in all Teyvat!”
“Oh, it’s you again. You left abruptly last time, and Lady Furina was so in shock that she left immediately, thinking that you went further into the city.” The message ended after that, as he moves in his voice over menu tipping his hat towards you with a wink.
You change back to Masha, who goes back to his idle position as you click back to him.
It’s time to go farming, it seems.
Atk, Pyro Dmg goblet, Crit Dmg.
It was easier to build Lyney than Masha. Masha’s artifacts took months to farm, whereas Lyney’s required only a few weeks.
His Maurchausse Hunter set was more difficult to get items from, so in the meantime, you give him Masha’s flower and feather. After farming for him for a month, he was at a high enough level to rival Masha as the strongest character.
“Good morning, Lyney.”
You remove the mismatched artifacts from him, fixing his build. 2 pc Shim and 2 pc Wanderer’s Trope, and an off-piece crit DMG circlet.
You let out a small hum, looking over the stats of his shim flower and feather comparing it to Masha’s. Masha’s has more crit DMG, which Lyney needs. Shrugging, you swap Masha’s flower and feather for Lyney’s.
As you exit the main screen, Masha is standing there, glaring up at you.
“Give it back.”
“Huh?”
“Did you think I didn’t notice my power draining?” He pulls up the menu to his character screen. He stops mid-idle to turn to the stats.
“My atk and crit went down.” He points out the lower-crit DMG. Instead of being 60/130, it went down to 100, which is fine, but he doesn’t crit as often at 100.
“I was doing some tasks for the radish when I saw my DMG going down.” You notice a bruise on his arm. It looked fresh, tainting his pale skin.
“Sorry. I was testing Lyney’s dmg.” He sighs, pulling up the menu once more.
“Ever since you got the Knave’s brat, he’s been taking my shit.”
“Give him something else.” He glares off screen like Lyney would pop up around the corner.
You wouldn’t be surprised at this point if he did do that.
The characters have begun to gain more power over the game. Mainly Wanderer, who would take you out of bounds areas.
The paimon menu pops up again, changing to the character menu and Lyney. They switch back to his original set, as the menu exits back to the game.
“Don’t move them again.” He sighs, getting back into his idle pose. His fake smile rises on his face as he stares ahead blankly.
You stared him down for a good minute, waiting for him to say something else. His eyes only glance at you and back ahead, giving the indication for you to move.
“Okay, let’s travel shall we?”
The abyss lights up as the scenery changes from the out-of-bounds room to the nameless crescent island. Moving forward, Masha presses the button as you enter the menu.
“Plunging dmg and normal atk damage increased.”
Scara. Nahida, Kokomi, and Kuki enter the room as the challenge begins. A group of enemies from Nahida’s nation popped up surrounding the group. Some are working quickly to attack you while you are charged. Pulling out Nahida, she uses her E and does her dance as they fade as quickly as they spawned.
Things began to tighten as more enemies were dropped in.
“Everybody hold hands.” Nahida points her fingers towards the enemies as they disappear in a cloud.
Mitachurrls approach as Nahida dodges on time. Sprinting around, things are thrown at her. She pauses, pulling out her chain, when she gets hit head-on.
“Owchie.” She mutters, rubbing her head. She does her little dance as Dendro hits the mitachurrls, burning them quickly. Darkness surrounds the room as she teleports to the waiting room.
“Is it our turn next?”
Lyney asks as he and his team prepare for the next session. The abyss music plays softly in the background, like elevator music.
When off screen, the characters remain in a small lobby in between matches to get themselves together.
“Yes, (player name) is waiting for you.” Lyney and his crew gather their things as they make their way to the exit she came from.
“Is everyone prepared?” Lyney asks before opening the door. “His team checked before nodding.
“Let’s go.”
The door closed as they were teleported into the next match. A small monitor above the lobby played as the match began.
“It looks a bit rough this time.” Masha comments as they watch Bennett flinging around. A mitachurrl is flung back from Lyney’s burst in retaliation.
The battle continues smoothly for everyone on the team except Lyney. Bennett successfully kills his enemies, continuing on to the new ones. Thoma, providing shields for his teammates.
“It’s Showtime!” Lyney transformed himself as he hit the enemy, doing a small 25k at best. They advance through the last few as the stage changes.
Kokomi stands, approaching them with a small medical kit. Being in the spiral abyss prevented her from healing the majority of their injuries.
Smaller ones, however, could be wrapped up or healed with bandages.
Kokomi, Nahida, and Thoma helped the injured teammates while Masha remains seated.
A small menu pops up in front of Lyney as he uses his good hand to navigate through it. He checks his artifacts and finds two pieces missing from his set.
“Masha, did you happen to take my artifacts?” He smiles at the raven-haired man with a feral grin.
“No, I have all my artifacts here.” He displays the slots where the artifacts he is wearing are. Lyney clicks on the flower and feather.
“Last time I checked, our dear (player name) gave those to me.” He clicks on the feather and flower and exchanges them for his own. He has them returned to his missing slots as his DMG goes back up to 230 crit DMG.
“You need to get your own.” He takes those back artifacts as the next floor loads out. Him and his team exit into the domain.
“Break a leg.”
“Ah!” Kokomi Is hit repeatdly by the hilichurrls that spawn in the room. As you got to dodge it, your phone rings distracting you.
You see your Friend’s name pop up on the screen as Kokomi eventually dies. The next character spawns in moving the controller to dodge and aim. You look back to see Masha with a pissed off look dodging the characters and killing them all.
As the next wave pops in, you take control dodging clumsily at the last moment causing him major damage.
“You can’t aim for shit. Give me this!” He takes control again not letting them land a single hit on him.
The floor changes again as Lyney and his team get you to the last floor of the current level. Not distracted by her, the gameplay goes smoothly as the characters crit and do major damage. Lyney jumps out of his hat as the stage changes.
Masha loads in with half damage. You got to control him, when nothing happens. He glances back at you with an annoyed look.
“Don’t even try it.”
He presses okay on the menu as he begins the trial. You watch as he quickly clears through the damage of the current boss for the spiral abyss. He switches control to his other team mates not even allowing you to control.
Your phone dings again with a small hum.
Missed Calls (10) from Friend’s Name. You sigh, getting up and exiting the room.
10-3 Cleared
Next Level?
*’Hey.’*
Friend name is Tying.
*’Hey (*Friend).*’
*’How are you?*’
Read @8:36
Name is Typing.
*’Well I guess.*’
You weren’t exactly sure what she wants, considering last time she broke off your friendship.
*’Do you have time right now?*’
You glance back towards Lyney’s team who were glancing at you. They stood attentive at the domain symbol waiting for you to get off the phone.
*’Yeah, I can drive over to see you.*’
*’Great, meet me at the café near the library.”
You exit the room to change clothes. You turn on soothing music to calm your nerves as you change. You grab an outfit that resembled something she would wear, and tie your hair up in a cute ponytail.
“(Player name)?” You whip your head around looking for the person who called you. Checking every corner, you calm down and continue getting dressed.
“(Player name) can you hear me?” You hear the voice again. You slowly and sees Nahida’s face on the screen of your phone.
“This is new.” She lets out a small laugh as your other characters came into view, in a storage room you assumed.
“It’s a rest room that we stay in, between matches.” She corrects you.
“Lyney and his team left the Abyss. They said that you were unresponsive.” Your heart squeezed as a small smile lifted on your lips.
“That’s sweet of you Nahida. I have to go somewhere for a while.” She pauses listening before nodding.
“Alright then, we’ll return home.” You could hear talking in the background as they move out the door. Whatever device Nahida was holding was moving as she walked.
You saw the room turn into the bright sky of Teyvat. You see the abyssal portal as they exit the domain. Nahida presses on something that you couldn’t see, as the teleportation screen was shown.
Your device turns back to the regular wallpaper as the game exits itself. You decide to head out to see what she wanted to get out the way.
The restaurant was an expensive one, that was a bit out of your budget. The interior seemed like it was a place usually occupied by influencers or other bougie people.
“Reservation for (Name)?” The waitress nods leading you to the table in the back where your Friend is.
“You’re here!” She cheers, waving towards you. You grimace taking a seat across from her. She looks towards the man in the back not even sparing you a glance.
“So what did you want to talk about?” She turns towards you excited.
“Isn’t that man attractive?” You glance at the man with a blank stare.
“I guess?” She looks at you blankly, muttering something rude under her breath.
“So, what have you been up to?” You listen to her as she tells you her current troubles. You frown hearing that things have been going down hill for her. You pat her on the shoulder and promise her that she can vent to you anytime if it helps.
“What about you?” She remains engaged in your conversation. You smile, hoping that things remain positive like this.
“So there was a new episode of my favorite series that came out the other day.” You pause before continuing. You hesitate to bring uo Genshin, in case she would call you out for being weird.
“So there’s a new episode next week if you want to watch.” You look up only to see her focusing on her phone.
“Hey, did you hear me?” She shushes you, focusing on her task. She gets up approaching the man that she kept glancing at. She has a conversation with you that you can barely hear. They both glance at you, before he lets out a small laugh. They continue talking as he exchanges phone numbers with her before walking off again.
She walks back over with a sad look. “He says he doesn’t like you like that.” You look at her confused expecting her to explain. She continues texting, not even glancing at you.
“Can you come hang with me and my friends next week if you have time?”
You leave money on the table exiting the restaurant. Merting her after that fight you had last time was a terrible idea. You make your way to your car, when the phone pings again.
What more does she want? You glare at your phone as you check your text messages
Aisha:*’ Long time no see, how are you?” 🥰’

pls pls pls pls give us headcanons about the scara x katheryne crack ship or i will literally die bc i am a sucker for robot love too and i need this in my life :D
Okay so... I may have actually gotten way too invested in this and started writing a fic about it. 😅 But just in case that never comes to fruition, here's my more in-depth, canon-compliant(ish) thoughts:
The Katheryne in Sumeru was possessed by Nahida enough times that some of Irminsul's influence rubbed off on her and made her sentient. This only began to manifest after she was skewered by the Eremites, repaired, and then sent back to her normal Guild duties.
Scara visits the Adventurers' Guild for one reason or another and makes one of his usual snarky remarks, then is surprised when Katheryne briefly breaks character to snark back at him. Intrigued and slightly annoyed by the fact that a supposedly non-sentient "inferior" puppet has roasted him, he resolves to keep observing Katheryne and find out what's going on.
Meanwhile, Katheryne is new to this whole sentience thing and isn't quite sure what to do about it. She tries extra hard to go about her job as usual but finds that some weirdo in a big hat is always hanging around & disturbing her for some reason. She resolves to find out what his deal is and why he gives her pesky feelings in her chest sometimes.
Cue shenanigans, bonding over puppet troubles, themes of figuring out together how to make their own purpose in this world, etc. etc.
My headcanon for Katheryne's personality is that she has spent her entire existence working in customer service and has Seen Some Shit. As a result, she is usually unflappable, but can be taken aback by new or strong feelings. She's also very attached to / protective of the Adventurers' Guild and its members.
By contrast, Scara has the emotional fortitude of a wet paper bag, but he is technically more experienced with having feelings (and he has Nahida as his personal therapist). So he's able to help Katheryne adjust to being her own person & get her to explore the world a little more.
Also Scara's tsundere shit totally fails to land with Katheryne. He'll be like "Tch. As if I could ever do anything as embarrassing as spend time with you," and she'll just say "Okay, goodbye. :)"
I feel like Nahida would know exactly what's going on and would be bemused by it at first, then start actively trying to get them together. At some point she would definitely tell the Traveler to sub in for Katheryne at the Adventurers' Guild one day so Katheryne and Scara can hang out. (Of course the Traveler would be comedically overwhelmed and this arrangement would never happen again.)
If Katheryne gets a Vision in this version of events it would probably be Dendro. Her voice lines in combat would be variations on her standard canon dialogue, ex. "Compliments of the Adventurers' Guild!" or "Here is your reward!" while beating the living daylights out of some Hilichurl.
That's my take on it, anyway! There may or may not eventually be more from me on this because people seem to like it way more than I expected, ha ha 😂

what if chrollo sees your gacha game addiction.... what if chrollo sees your obsession towards a certain purple haired man...? i would pay to see the despair flashing through his countenance
Tumblr media
chrollo when he sees his darling's obsession with scara
it'd just be unasked for psychoanalysis o'clock. why this 5′ 4″ (164 cm) fella with mommy issues? it's not like he would even treat you better. realistically, he'd treat you worse. smh. would scaramouche read you poetry, kiss your hand, and massage your sore neck? could he even reach? chrollo's out here collecting your personal data more than a tech conglomerate to custom tailor his entire personality for you. now that's dedication you wouldn't get anywhere else (thank god).
but yeah, say goodbye to the gacha games. no amount of batting eyelashes will get him to change his mind and let you do your dailies. not even a weird modded version that's perpetually offline. you can keep the switch at the price of your otome games being deleted. animal crossing and games in that vein are fine, so long as he receives adequate attention. he's annoying the entire time though. he keeps asking you questions/making commentary about everything.
"so why is it you put the mirror on the right, and not the left?"
"hm. skipping over the plain butterfly, i see. you know, outside beauty does not signify inner worth."
"what an expensive crown. is there a feature that lets you steal it, or is purchasing it legally the only way? seems like an oversight to me."
"those colors... interesting combination, dear. don't you think they clash?"
"is this hamster in the cage not sentient, like the others? why is it that this creature is put on display when its brethren walk freely? does subjugation not bother you?"
(yes he's being irritating on purpose to get you to notice him and man does it work well. also his favorite NPC is crazy redd)

Scaramouche just caressing your face and running a hand through your hair as you sleep, the sound of your soft snores and slow breathing the only noise heard.
He admires you as if you’re the grandest thing he’s ever seen, which you are. Nothing in Teyvat could rival your splendor. You never fail to take his breath away, and you look so peaceful when you sleep.
He chuckles softly once he feels your legs wrap around his, snuggling closer to him. He presses soft kisses on the top of your head, just holding you gently as his eyelids start to droop.
I hope this little drabble helps you feel better! Sorry if this was a bit late D:
a/n: tysm for writing this! I sort of wrote something inspired by it but kitsune au bc it's my guilty pleasure :)

A fox burdened by pain, hardened by anguish, a pitiful existence that has been incinerated to dust, leaving nothing but just the mere traces of what was once a dignified familiar, now just a hollow shell clinging onto whatever meaning they had left. Smiles — sincere, serene smiles — are a rarity even on your mystical features, even for your closest confidant to witness. There was a time long ago where he would slaughter any and all foes that dare lift a finger against you, deliver priceless treasures to your feet after treacherous journeys; anything and everything to see a genuine smile.
“Thank you, Kunikuzushi. I’m really happy.” You once said, examining the gem he gifted you with a blank expression. “I’m sorry, I can’t convey my gratitude to its full extent. But I really am happy for everything you’ve done. So you don’t need to do all this for my sake. I feel lighter just by being at your side.”
To what most would interpret as an insincere remark, he nodded with complete understanding. After all, he too is burdened by pain. How many blissful smiles did he wear in his lifetimes? How many blissful smiles did he wear in this lifetime? The number seems too insignificant to remember. Which is why he understands. Even if you aren’t able to give him a beaming smile, your gentle candescent light is more than enough.
Quiet snores fill the serene silence in the room as Scaramouche’s hand cards through your hair, occasionally brushing the back of his palm against your soft face and rubbing his thumb against the apples of your cheeks. He watches as your chest rises and falls, your ethereal face displaying a peaceful expression; as if all the misery in this world vanished to leave behind a perfect utopia behind your ears. You’re exquisite. Like perfection incarnate. If there was a God of Beauty in Teyvat, the divine title would have fallen onto you. A whine escapes your lips when he shifts his body. Lids still shut, your hands reach out to hold him while your legs wraps around his midriff.
“You’re so clingy.”
Although he forces an irate tone, a smile sneaks its way to the Balladeer’s lips. He returns your hold, cradling you like he would cradle the electro gnosis. The way he would cradle his heart. Piercing indigos soften at the sound of a giggle. Your tails swish behind you as you lean into the harbinger. They wrap around him like a sentient blanket, the fur tickling him a bit.
“Scara…”
For just a little longer, Scaramouche allows himself to admire the smile on you lips —  a rare, genuine smile — before he follows you to the realm of unconsciousness.
Maybe in the morning, he’ll ask you what you dreamed about.

I don't know what it's called but that kink where you get off on being treated like an object and not a sentient person? Dehumanization? Human furniture?
Whatever it is Scaramouche has it. Nothing can convince me otherwise that this man doesn't get wet when someone adresses him as it/its.
HUMAN FURNITURE???
I think you mean objectification or smth? Scara definitely has it
He wants to be treated as a toy for you to use and break

Please reblog if you like this!!

To say arguments with Scara weren’t rare would’ve been an understatement. You didn’t blame him, he didn’t exactly have a grasp on human emotions, unless it was negative. Bitterness, anger, hatred - it fuelled him, and in no way were you surprised that it influenced everything he did.
Subordinates and underlings were treated like the scum of the earth, passersby cowered in fear whenever he showed his face in public. Hell, even the other harbingers wanted nothing to do with him due to his vile attitude. But whenever it came to you, there was always a softness there. It was almost tender, if you didn’t know any better.
He tried. He tried so hard for you to be human, to treat you with the kindness and love you had so willingly given him. But deep down, he knew what he was. A shell. An empty husk, void of the one thing he was meant to have, a birthright that was rejected because he was nothing more than a disappointment. Too sensitive, he recalls spitefully. So perhaps it was no wonder he kept emotions so expertly hidden now, stored away and protected by a hardened case of inhumanity. Although beautiful, even porcelain could be destroyed.
You weren’t exactly sure how it started, but you certainly remember how it ended. With you, in a frenzied burst of anger, turning around and screaming,
“I’d take our relationship back in a heartbeat, if only you even had one!”
You remembered how your chest heaved, how hot your cheeks felt, how your eyes burned. But most of all, you remembered him.
How his face transformed from a scowl to one of blankness. His eyes looked so empty, his hands looked so limp against his side, and his tears were so heartbreaking. Like thunder before the torrential rain, it was gradual, first brewing under the surface as darkened eyes began to shine with unshed tears. And then the downpour came, dams finally breaking against the mighty strength of crashing waves, swept away in the vicious storm. His throat constricted when he went to speak, causing a strangled noise to come out of him, raising his hands to try to catch the escaping droplets. What was happening? He wanted to ask, wanted you to tell him not to worry in that honey-sweet voice of yours, that everything was going to be okay. Instead you just stood there, rooted in place as you watched in pure shock what was happening to the hollow puppet. You wanted to apologise the second it came out of your mouth, but every time you went to speak, you just couldn’t find any words.
It wasn’t until he had to balance himself on his desk so as to not collapse that you finally remembered to move.
“Scara I didn’t… I didn’t mean it.” You tried to console him, reaching out to rest a hand against his cold cheek. Despite how angry you were, you couldn’t help the way your heart both melted and shattered when he leant into your warm hand, closing his eyes slowly. He said nothing, simply just standing there, tears still streaming down his face. His cheek wasn't flushed, his face didn’t contort as he sobbed, he wasn’t human. But his chest still rose and fell, his body still trembled as shallow breaths escaped his parted lips. He was still a living, breathing, sentient being that felt things, even if he tried desperately not to.
“I’m so sorry…” You whispered softly against his ear after you pulled him into your arms, pressing your lips against his damp skin, hoping no cracks had been formed there. He stood still for a moment, before hesitantly wrapping his arms around your middle, bringing you in closer. His face had found itself buried in your neck, and your hand found its way through his soft hair, threading your fingers through the fine strands. His hold tightened on you for a moment before he pulled away just enough to speak.
“You’re right. I don’t have a heart. So… Why do I feel it breaking… When you say such things?” Reddened eyes shifted to meet yours, as your thumbs swiped away the remainder of his tears on both sides of his cheeks. He let out a heavy sigh and turned his head away slightly, refusing to look at you while you tried your best to fix what you had broken.
“Maybe you don’t have one in the traditional sense…” You began, turning his head back to look at you, which he did, albeit hesitantly. “But… You do have one. How else could you love me?” You released a breathless chuckle, one of your own tears slipping down your cheeks when you saw his lips quirk upwards slightly, but only for a moment. “I’m sorry, dearest… I really am.”
“Just don’t do it again.” He mumbled quietly, slipping his hand into one of yours. Maybe an artificial creature like him didn’t deserve someone as real as you. As loving and kind and… Human. So very human. Something he could never hope to feel. But if he had you…
“You are right, by the way.” He mumbled quietly, which earned a quiet hum of confusion from you. Once again, his head turned away from you. “I do… Love you.” But before you had a chance to reply, he had already let go of your hand and headed towards the door. “… Don’t tell anyone about this.”
“I won’t.”
“…Good.” He opened the door slowly, glancing at you from behind his shoulder. “Why are you just standing there? We’re going home.”
“Oh-“ You shook yourself out of your stupor and jogged to catch up with him while he walked down the empty corridor, and already he was back to his normal self, glaring at whoever dared to glance your way.
But only when you took his hand, did the facade melt away as his fingers intertwined in yours.

My understanding is that Scaramouche was never meant to exist past the success of his creation 😥 his humanity isn’t the flaw ei discarded him for, that’s what he believes, it is the reason why ei let him live.
She was going to get rid/destroy the prototype, because she had only intended it as a tool, but seeing him shed tears in his sleep is what made her realize he was sentient. It’s not that she considered him unworthy due to his humanity (and she was never going to keep the prototype anyway) but that she couldn’t bring herself to destroy a life (an object, as she intended him, yes, but not a real life).
If the prototype was weak or strong it didn’t matter, the prototype was meant to be the stepping stone for ei to move on to the real thing (shogun), and she had no use for it.
Scara is such an interesting character because his nihilism is justified, he had no place in the world to begin with, his existence is more or less a mistake of his creator, and he’s trying to find meaning in the worst possible way —by rejecting his own (human) nature.
Also makes me think about the people of sumeru, who only pursue academic success for status and income instead of true passion, let’s say, people who also don’t understand their own purpose and seek a form of higher power to validate their existence, while villagers and people who engage with their true aspirations are limited by the sages controlling the knowledge they’re allowed to possess... and the desert dwellers who have no chance at choosing a path other than what the sages have left for them... mm

“Wherever I go the Wind follows." (part one)
Tumblr media
Reverse Isekai! Scara x Reader
2k +
Based off this idea and this post
I know you all have been waiting me to release this since last Christmas (sorry I took so long.)
Thank you all for your patience I hope you enjoy!
Series: The Player and the Wannabe God
Oh I forgot for those who are new and are just reading my Sagau Scara stories, (Wanderer is named Masha. I gave him this name awhile ago in the Sentient Series.)
Reader is referred to as Them or They
Tag for my scara series is here. Follow this is you want to be updated on any new updates.
Masha knew that other worlds existed, the Traveler was living proof of that. He wasn't aware that they were being watched from the sky. Not by the Archons or Celestia but by a figure peering down into their world.
“The stars and the sky is just one giant hoax.”
Those are the words he told the Astrologist during those falling stars he had to research.  Briefly he remembers Dottore mentioning how the fake sky they live under was a placeholder and how the real one was long destroyed during the Archon War. He didn't like thinking about it, remembering his time in the Fatui.
Looking up into the sky instead of a sea full of stars he sees faint lights in what appears to be a room and a figure peering into their world. The figure wouldn't shut up constantly muttering something as they controlled the room ,manipulating objects.
"This goes here." The person mutters as they place the objects down in the house.
“And if we put this here.’’ Masha peers down from his spot in the hallway, as they decorate the living room of the Traveler’s house. The characters who were in the halls remained in place. The ceiling returns to normal as they hear their voice switch into another room.
The desert women with different color eyes took a seat on the couch letting out a sigh. She stretched her feet, relaxing from standing in place. As she sat down she immediately stood up hearing their voice re enter the room.
He glances up seeing them look around the room before exiting through the front door.
“Alright I'm coming.” The ceiling turned black before turning back to its normal color.
Characters who were in specific spots began to move. The Rwathist insomniac sluggishly passed through the halls running into the pillars.
Masha sighed, moving from his position. That person wasn't here to stop him after all.
Traveler went in the direction towards their room, others who were outside came inside and the others went their separate ways.
The Traveler and the desert woman sat on the deck of the house talking about nothing within his interest. They spare him a glance before continuing on with their conversation.
Pulling out his dispatch he snapped it in half. The area became pitch black as he was teleported out of the teapot.
________________________________________________________
"In today's lesson, we'll talk about King Deshret's rule." Wanderer sat in the back of the room, tapping his pencil on the notebook as the lecture started. He didn’t intend on coming if it wasn’t for the radish.
“Masha.” He regains his vision, as light green flashed before his eyes. Standing next to the waypoint, bag in hand was Nahida.
" You're not going to learn anything by skipping class." The older girl spoke. He rolled his eyes trying to walk away only to be stopped by her again.
"I'll do something for you in return." A small smile grew on her face as she handed him his backpack.
"Who is singing?" His classmates looked around at each other before shrugging to the professor.
The professor's focus remained unfazed as he carried on with his lecture, seemingly unaffected by the distracting melody. The woman's voice echoed through the classroom, captivating some students while leaving others indifferent.
Masha was already bored enough. However, the strange contrast between the professor's dull voice and the woman's song made him even more so. He looked at the other students and saw that some of them had their eyes closed and others were taking careful notes. This made him even more tempted to leave the boring lesson.
A bright light blinded the classroom as the students looked around in surprise.
The vision symbols slowly loaded onto the screen of your game. The game was updated to version 3.8.
You were excited as this would be the first time you would go on a summer adventure with the characters, after missing it the previous year. The symbols started loading quicker as it reached  the geo and cryo symbols.
Masha’s classmates and professor began freaking out. Some ran away while others disappeared within the light. Masha didn't have time to think, before he was engulfed as well.
The timer in the other room dings distracting you from the game momentarily. You get up exiting the room leaving the load up screen.
The music and the loading screen distort.
Pins and needles prick Masha as he tried to stand gaining awareness of his surroundings.
On his back he saw the sky much closer than before. Looking around all he saw was the sky and columns.
He gets halfway up when his knees buckle, dragging him down again. Eventually, he stands noticing his location. Instead of the Akademiya, he was on a floating island midair.
Trying to stand he notices the joint between his knees were loose causing his legs to act wobbly. Limping, he tries walking along the path to find an alternate way down.
As he walks down the road, he finds a random door at the end of it. As he gets closer, he looks at it very carefully.
The roads create itself ahead of him as he follows the path down. He tripped every step from the loose knee socket injury. A white door appears stopping him in his tracks. As he gets to the door, he tries to open it but fails.
No matter what he did, he could not get the door to move. He turns back the way he came to see a room. He pauses thinking over what happened, before continuing forward. His bell floats next to him as he continues forward investigating his new surroundings.
"Yes, I'll see you later." The phone dings as you went to put it down. Soft music fills in the quietness of the house.
"Now we wait." You lean against the countertop, checking your social media. New videos regarding the newest game update pops up as you watch the trailer. "More desert areas?"
"First the desert was fine as a new mechanic, now it's irritating to even look at." You press play listening to one of the new theory videos that one of the players of the game released.
The floors creak from the upstairs. You strain your ears listening for any other movements. The house became quiet, except the music you have playing.
A pang of dread overtook you as you hastily retrieved your phone.
Should you call the police? Or should you just make sure it's nothing before you make the call.
The floorboard remained quiet after the first creak of footsteps. Taking a deep breath in, you grab a steak knife, slowly make your way upstairs.
Opening the next door, Masha finds a bedroom with a poster of the Anemo Archon and a doll of him? He walks in further picking up the doll looking over it.
He pauses, hearing footsteps approaching the stairs that he passed. Peeking out the door he catches you, armed looking around annoyed.
He watches you try to find him by opening all the doors and checking the room. Getting close to the one he was in, he sat in the closet waiting for you to approach.
The door to the room he was in opened soon enough. He heard rustling until you turned to look at the closet. When the closet door opened, you saw only your clothes and no one else. Before you close it, you check it carefully.
"Probably just the house settling." You turn to leave when you knock into something hard.
"What the heck? ", Looking up you see a man who look eerily similar to Masha staring you down. Your eyes wander, as you see his outfit resembling him almost identical. He must be a huge fan like yourself.
“Uhm.”
He says nothing , as he listens in on you.
"Are you a cosplayer by chance?" He stares at you blankly.
"What's a cosplayer?"
"The person you're cosplaying as, he's Scaramouche from Genshin." His face scrunches up hearing the name. He glances at his outfit, turning back to you.
"Look, I don't know what cosplaying is, but why did you bring me here." A familiar looking bell appeared in his hands. Wind blasted in your face coming from seemingly nowhere. A stone on his chest lit up briefly before dimming again.
“Wait who are you?”
“Bring? No, I don’t have the power to bring anyone anywhere.” You laugh slightly, only aggravating him more.
“I don’t have time for you.'' As he passes, you take a step in front of him. He lifts his hand pulling you up with the wind.
This must be a very expensive prop that some rich cosplayers had, or your character really crawled out of the tv, like the ring girl.
A cosplayer wouldn’t just break into your house trying to attack you. I mean some cosplayers are un hinged that they have done that. You doubt he would be doing this for viewers or to get famous.
If he really was Wanderer coming out of the game like those Isekai Anime, that would be a bad situation.
Calming down, you out your hands up, hoping he wouldn't smack you against the wall.
“I’m sorry, what was your name again?” He remains silent looking over your form.
“I go by many names, but all of them are water under the bridge to me now.”
That's a line that Wanderer says from the game.
“Is there a specific name that I can call you?”
“Masha. That’s also what I go by.” He shrugs, focusing his attention back onto the television.
Masha?
What the hell?! You start freaking out, Genshin was a real world and wasn’t just some game some people thought up?
You begin thinking of the hilichurrls  and the people you killed to gain items to level up your characters. The smaller characters like Klee or Nahida, how did they react to killing others?
“Uhm, when you entered my house where exactly did you come from?” He points at the last door at the end of the hallway. You look towards it nervously as you approach the door.
If Masha was the first to come through the game, would others come through it as well?”
You walk to the door making you way to your room. The load up screen was shown with red blocks tainting the grounds of it. Looks like they were aware of someone leaving. You quickly shut off the game, hoping that the Heavenly Principles wasn't aware of you exiting the game.
You already have Masha to deal with. Heavenly principles would make things worse.
“What the hell?” The game exited, before booting up again without your consent. The logo of Mihoyo appearing glithcy as the scene of Celestia glitches. The pillars were broken, and the music was vacant just leaving the wind alone.
The screen goes black before the game transitions into the Sanctuary of Surasthana.
The scene zooms in on Nahida talking to Traveler with a worried expression.
“I haven’t seen him since they entered Teyvat.” Lumine spoke.
“Usually, he goes on Adventures with them and return to Sumeru, however the students in his class went missing as well after they returned.”
“Is there anything you can do about it, Traveler?” She shakes her head.
“I only have access to changing the time, not anything like that.” Nahida frowns.
“Thanks for your help. I know you have to continue to Fontaine, if you do see any of the missing students, please let me know.” Lumine nods making her exit from the room.
Masha’s disappearance from Genshin not only caused Nahida to worry but for students to disappear?
Nahida continues walking around the Sanctuary nervously.
‘’Is that Buer?” Masha’s voice comes from the side of you.
“Hey! Don’t do that.” He rolls his eyes before focusing on the screen. He gives it a weird look turning back to face you.
“So, you are the one who brought me here.” His weapon was summoned at his side immediately.
‘’ I already told you! I didn’t bring you here.”
“Then why do you have access to Teyvat?” He glances at the party to the right of the screen.
He reads the names of each person getting to the top one. He sees his face blackned out while the others were full of life.
“Is that? " He cuts off. You look at his face on the game in shock.
“Wait why is that blackened out you’re alive not dead.”
“Is that what you’re really worried about right now?” You click his picture only for an error message to pop up again.
“Character cannot be healed.” You have revival food but it’s not working on him. Is it because he’s outside the game?
Clicking back, the camera follows traveler who disappears into the teapot.

OK I'm so tired of this.
The raiden shogun hate is dumb, yall constantly make her wayy worse then she is. People complain that she is just "waifu bait" while playing a gacha game whare literally ALL the characters are
And how is she waifu bait? Because she is a soft person under the cold exterior who due to self isolating for so long is unaware of things like photos?? Or the 'date' style first story quest that was LITERALLY HOW MANY INAZUMA STORY QUESTS WENT.
The hate mainly comes from scaramouche fans which again is so dumb,
yall are out here hateing someone for being a traumatised person who did bad things and hurt people after losing people close to them and then pursued a goal that they thought they needed when they didn't and then the narrative said "but the're baby 🥺" and then got off scott free
ALL WHILE STANING someone for being a traumatised person who did bad things and hurt people after losing people close to them and then pursued a goal that they thought they needed when they didn't and then the narrative said "but the're baby 🥺" and then got off scott free
Like??? If you have the problem with the writing, take it up with the writing, leave the characters put of this.
Also the whole thing with her abandoning scara mainly comes from him being an unreliable narrator, this is clear when you look at the 3 betrayals
2 of them whare people dieing of natural causes with no real betrayal and the first was just ei going "yo this boys sentient and emotional he can't be a puppet, ima give him this feather for protection and let him live his own life".
The situation and ei as a character has more nuance then yall give them credit for, but god forbid women have depth and do bad things out of trauma and be given the same sympathy male characters get

Oh I just had a weird experience
Reading fanfiction, as per usual, and in the notes at the end the author mentioned an AI of the Kabukimono (it was genshin impact fanfiction about Scara so yeah it makes sense) and then linked to it. Out of curiosity, I clicked on it. And I used it a bit. It was a pseudo roleplay thing and I kind of hate that it was kind of fun.
I’ve done role playing on tumblr and Skype and all that kind of stuff. And there have been times I wanted to write something, but I didn’t have a partner to do it with. Or I didn’t want to bother a partner with a potentially weird or “cringe” idea. So I very much do understand the appeal of character AIs.
But at the same time…I don’t know it just felt so weird. Not only did the AI say straight up non-canon things, but I know that I am not actually talking to the character, even if it feels like it for the briefest of moments.
And I read through the comments, and the author mentioned in a reply how they found a Wanderer AI and asked his opinion on something and… I don’t know that feels so weird to me. You aren’t asking that character’s actual opinion, because that isn’t the character. That isn’t anyone! It’s a likely flawed collection of data generating answers.
Beyond the moral issues behind generative AI writing, there was something fundamental that skeeved me hardcore.
Idk I’m in bed now but the whole thing left me feeling kinda gross?
Fuck man. No one talk to me unless someone’s actually created a fully sentient artificial intelligence. Then we can talk.

Scara is one of those sex androids used for intimacy right? That makes me wonder, how realistic would the dick be? 🤔 Would it feel real and still work as a human dick would? I can imagine that a similar liquid that shares the same consistency but not be real cum. - Vaus
(nsfw)
It's surprisingly realistic, so much so that it functions similarly to a human's but feels smooth and soft like a silicone dildo. Although there are some obvious differences. For one, Scara has to run a specific program in order to make it erect, and it is possible of ejaculating (so long as he runs another program to do that as well). Once he’s more sentient or ‘human,’ it becomes easier to do these things without the need for a command.
He can also produce a liquid that has somewhat of a similar consistency and appearance as cum, but it’s water-based and can easily be refilled should his internal system run low on it.

heyyy babes cig anon is here!!
usint that one ask thats like collei would think her trauma is invalid oike okay
i honestly somewhat dislike collei due to her fanbase and why everyone uses her and wanderer as an anti dottore card and underlies the real reason she was sent to dottore😭 she wasn't sent she was GIVEN UP by her mama to dottore due to eleazar, and dottore decided to play an april fools and inject her with archon residue💁🏽
for scaramouche i can say that dottore probably didn't believe that he wasn't real and couldn't feel pain, like how as kids we dismembered our barbie dolls using the circular saw and damascus chinese knife your grandfather gave you.
any statement closed i don't give three walking and talking buckets of goddamn about what dottore did because i would straight up send people i didn't like to dottore and use him as a death note LMAO also i know dottore was probably intelligent enough to know he could just use prisoners as test subjects because he would be doing good for the tsaritsa and the jailing system
like the "why dont we experiment on pedos and rpists instead of animals?" type thing.
he only experimented on children due to their supposed ability to spot aranara but turns out aranara are hidden assholes like the pen you dropped while doing your math homework in bed and haven't found since 2017.
"hey dude can you stay still and stop screaming for a second your making this vivisection really hard"
—🚬 anon
…so much to take in-
firstly i didn’t know that aspect of collei lore, so while her mother is definitely in the wrong dottore still experimented on a chronically ill child, and regarding your point abt scara being the equivalent of a “barbie doll,” 1) god i wish i had a chinese damascus knife 2) last i checked my dolls didn’t speak and weren’t capable of sentient and sapient thought.
“he only experimented on children because they could see aranara[…]” pause. he still experimented on kids. by your own logic of “let’s experiment on bad people” that doesn’t map. kids are innocent. dottore is not.

Listen I am I one of those moods again holy fucking shit I need to rant to badly
I fucking cannot with Ei and Yae. Like I genuinely love their characters but when I think of them along with Scara I get so unbelievably pissed. Scara was like a fuking child that Yae wanted to kill and that Ei neglected. His choices are his own and he should face the consequences but you cannot deny that Ei is a horrible fucking parent and its ridiculous that Nahida does a better job than her despite Scara trying to fucking kill her.
Scara fucked up but he was also taken advantage of and manipulated. His resentment began when he thought everyone he cared about betrayed him and I will never forgive Dottore for that among other shit for that. Ei created the dude and then just dipped and that is unexcusable. Yae gets a slight pass considering she wasn't the one who created him. Ei did. Ei had a responsibility and her trauma does not excuse that. She made him into a vessel to take the gnosis and then said nah you feel too many emotions. You cannot bring someone sentient into the world and then choose to abandon them even if that's what you thought the nicer option would be. He was left alone for 500 fucking years. That is absolutely insane. Maybe it's the older sib in me or maybe it's not but as much as I love Ei I cannot excuse her actions at all. God this is so complicated

@picavecalyx &&. said... what is godhood to scaramouche?
Tumblr media
i  think  more  than  anything  else,  scaramouche  equates  GODHOOD  with  PURPOSE  —  but  simply  saying  he  feels  entitled  to  divinity  due  to  the  circumstances  of  his  creation  (  "i  was  born  to  become  a  god"  )  is  a  vast  oversimplification  of  his  motives.
he  is  a  person  who  has  desperately  searched  for  purpose,  belonging,  a  reason  to  live  from  the  very  moment  he  could  comprehend  such  concepts.  he  has  no  sense  of  personal  identity  —  and  as  a  being  neither  mortal  nor  god,  he  has  no  concrete  EXAMPLE  to  follow  to  show  him  how  he  should  be.  ei  effectively  threw  a  sentient  blank  canvas  out  into  the  world  and  assumed  he  would  be  self-sufficient.  he  tried  to  emulate  the  mortals  around  him,  but  it's  clear  from  the  beginning  he's  always  been  plagued  by  insecurity,  always  been  painfully  aware  of  his  own  inherent  differences  long  before  his existence as a  human  crumbled  to  pieces.
i  think  it's  rather  telling  what  words  pierro  chooses  to  get  him  to  join  the  fatui.  he  dehumanizes  him  by  calling  him  a  WEAPON  —  then  plants  the  idea  in  his  head  that  he  could  be  afforded  a  sense  of  purpose  by  allowing  himself  to  be  wielded  by  someone  else.  (  instilling  that  philosophy  that  his  self-worth  is  based  entirely  on  his  usefulness  to  others.  )  notably,  he  doesn't  take  offense  to  this.  he's  tried  being  a  human.  he's  tried  to  form  connections  with  mortals  —  glean  purpose  and  happiness  in  living  a  mundane  life,  and  despite  MULTIPLE  attempts,  it's  only  ever  brought  him  misery.  he's  tired of  trying  to  be  a  person.  he's tired of wandering aimlessly in this world that seems so inherently hostile to him. he has spent his entire life up until that point asking "what am i? why am i here?" and pierro is the first person since niwa to offer him an answer.
you  are  a  weapon.  that  is  your  purpose.  (  and  that  is  still  something  the  wanderer  is  struggling  to  unlearn,  even  now.  )
yet  the  problem  is,  neither  the  life  of  a  "human"  nor  a  "weapon"  necessarily  brings  him  any  lasting  fulfillment  —  he  is  still  hollow.  he  is  still  missing  something.  he  is  still  deeply,  existentially  unhappy.  and  so  scaramouche  comes  to  the  conclusion  he  can  only  achieve  a  true  purpose  via  embracing  his  DIVINE  side.  obtaining  the  gnosis  (  the  heart  )  he  was  built  to  contain  and  ascending  to  a  higher  existence.  he  has  tried  everything  else.  it's  his  last  chance  —  his  missing  piece,  and  he's  so  desperate  to  achieve  it  that  he's  willing  to  give  up  literally  anything  (  mind,  body,  sense  of  self  )  because  even  that  is  preferable  to  being  made  to  endure  another  day  slogging  through  this  worthless,  agonizing  existence.
however, it becomes infinitely more tragic when you realize scaramouche doesn't ... really know what it means to be a god at all?
to  elaborate  (  and  also  to  justify  the  google  doc  i  have  rotting  away  with  all  of  his  canon  dialogue  saved  for  reference  )  there  is  a  noticeable  difference  when  comparing  scara's  speech  patterns  before  he  obtains  the  gnosis,  and  after  —  as  he  is  in  the  midst  of  his  ascension.  under  ordinary  circumstances,  he  can  be  eloquent,  but  he  combines  it  with  more  casual  turns  of  phrase.  he  knows  big  words  and  how  to  use  them,  can  be  obnoxiously  poetic  and  theatrical  when  the  urge  hits  him,  yet  he  never  becomes  overly  antiquated  with  his  speech.  if  anything,  i  would  argue  his  dialogue  veers  slightly  more  towards  the  informal  side  by  default  —  mainly  out  of  apathy  and  a  general  lack  of  respect.  compare  that  to  how  he  talks  before  the  shouki  no  kami  fight,  or  even  during  the  conversation  wherein  he's  astral  projecting  his  dramatic  theater  kid  ass  to  monologue  at  the  traveler.  he  drops  any  informal  speech  patterns  entirely  and  cranks  up  the  vocabulary  to  a degree that borders on purple prose.  he is performative to the point of appearing manic. he  surpasses  mere  eloquence  to  become  completely  pretentious  —  and  there  is  something  so  very  artificial  about  the  grandiose  persona  he  puts  on,  because  that's  entirely  what  it  is.  a  persona.  an  act.
he  speaks  of  his  past  self  in  the  third  person,  as  though  he  is  but  the  discarded  cocoon  from  whence  this  new,  divine  being  has  burst  asunder.  this  is  his  idea  of  what  a  god  should  be  —  another  mask,  in  the  long  line  of  masks  he's  worn  over  the  course  of  his  life.  (  human.  weapon.  god.  )  born  from  an  assumption  based  on  inaccurate  (  malicious, warped  )  information.  "gods  have  never  needed  to  be  reasonable,"  he  says  —  much  like  his  mother,  whose  actions  no  doubt  read  as  unreasonable  from  his  perspective.  he  glorifies  the  archon  war  and  mocks  nahida  as  "a  god  (...)  who  does  not  crave  power"  when  she  expresses  a  conflicting  opinion  because,  again,  he  is  simply  drawing  from  the  example  that's  been  set  for  him  and  coming  to  his  own  warped  conclusions  based  on  limited  information.  a  god  discarded  him  for  his  fragility;  naturally  this  must  mean  placing  an  emphasis  on  strength  above  all  else  is  what  it  means  to  be  a  god.  he  isn't  just  acting  overly  grandiose  and  antagonistic  because  this  is  his  big  villain  moment  —  there  is  a  very  clear  line  of  reasoning  behind  everything  he  says  when  his  past  experiences  are  taken  into  context.
basically,  scaramouche  believes  becoming  a  god  is  his  purpose ( his LAST CHANCE at finding his purpose )  —  but  his  interpretation  of  godhood  is  firmly  grounded  in  his  own  trauma.  it's  not  so  different  from  the  machinations  of  a  child  pretending  to  emulate  their  parent's  occupation  with  only  the  most  surface  level  concept of  what  that  actually  entails.
