Rewatching this scene. Would love to point out that Derek is not only the one yelling Stiles name when he sees Stiles is about to put himself in danger, but he is also the one who starts walking back (closer to the giant fkn beast chasing them) to keep Stiles out of danger. Not Scott. Scott stays at the door like he doesn’t even care about Stiles at all. Sterek 4 life

He's not returning any of my texts.

There are only two options, both equally adorable, to explain Scott saying that and then admitting that Derek rarely answers his texts but this 'feels different'.

He was lying. He and Derek texted back and forth frequently but it occurred to him when Stiles asked that Derek might not want his unapproachable, anti-social image compromised in front of the whole group. Friends? Of course they're not friends! Derek Hale doesn't have friends!

It was true and Scott was just regularly texting Derek random stuff and ignoring that he never got a reply, and he really could just feel that Derek read them and when he wasn't getting them anymore.

I can't decide which scenario sparks more joy. On the one hand we have Derek furtively texting with a high school junior when no one is looking, wondering how his life came to this and desperately not wanting to explain it to anyone because he doesn't know, okay? He doesn't know how this annoying little shit made him like him so damn much and he doesn't want to talk about it. Ever.

On the other hand we have Scott bombarding Derek with teenage nonsense because he's part of the group now whether he likes it or not and Derek pretending to ignore him but reading every message and Scott knowing that Derek pretends to ignore him but reads every message and being satisfied with that because he just wants Derek to know somebody cares.
