Friendly reminder that Stiles Stilinksi is canonically the person who mellowed out Derek Hale. Lots of talk about how Derek went from hard-edged angry bad boy to loving, soft dilf, but let’s give credit where it’s due. It was physically impossible for Derek to not be angry since it was his anchor at the start of the show. That is canon. If he ever stopped being angry, he would lose control of his wolf. But then, oh but then, he met Stiles Stilinksi, and he became his anchor. That is also canon. There for, the reason Derek softened, is canonically Stiles Stilisnki.

Stiles & Derek are dating, but they're a bit discreet when the pack is around, so the pack doesn't notice they're dating... Until they're having a meet and Stiles is "late", so Erica asks "Okay, where's Stiles?" and then Derek just shrugs and says "Oh, he arrived and was tired as fuck, so I told him to go take a nap. I'll fill him in later, we can go on without him 'cause no one is going to wake him up." The pack is confused, but they just go ahead.

A bit later when they're done with the boring part of the meeting Stiles comes downstairs and just casually kisses Derek and then turns to the pack "What did I miss?" the pack is shocked and Isaac says "You just kissed Derek." and Stiles replies "Well, yeah... It happens when you're dating someone." and the pack is like "DATING?????!!!!!" while Stiles & Derek are just like "Yeah, we thought you guys knew...? But anyways, let's just order food and watch something. "

You ever notice how much the Hale family is centered around the entire plot and base for the show yet we never really get the back story? There literally wouldn’t be a show without the Hales and the Argents. We got a family history lesson for the Argents, seeing and learning their origin. But not the Hales. We never met the family lost in the fire that sparked the whole series. We met Talia, briefly, Laura for 3 seconds, and of course Peter and Cora. But Derek himself said in season 1 that there were 11 people that died in the fire (10, because he assumed Cora had also died) and we only met 1 of this people. He also said that there were people who were perfectly ordinary in his family that died in the fire, yet in the movie he implies that all Hales ARE werewolves. I assume the ordinary family members maybe married into the family? Or it’s a plot hole to be ignored. Anyway…

The entire show could have been leagues better had Jeff Davis explored plot points he literally opened up. We don’t know all that really happened, the true actions of Kate and her manipulation of Derek, we never see that. That key moment, is the entire foundation for the show. If Kate doesn’t manipulate Derek, there is no fire. If there is no fire then Peter does plot his revenge, starting with killing his own niece to become Alpha. If Peter doesn’t become the Alpha, then Scott doesn’t get bit. Why have this monumental thing that is the undisputed core of the show but never detail it, never show it? Not even give it a mini series spinoff? And I don’t even want to talk about Derek gaining the ability to fully shift into a wolf only for us to see it ONCE and it never be talked about again. The show (and movie) as much as I love it, could have been so much better had there been at least a split focus between Scott and the Hales.

A shopping excursion, and after a visit from Derek, Noah and Stiles have a talk.

Okay but...Supernatural is still a hidden thing and married Sterek. Stiles is a true crime YouTuber and his fans keep asking him to cover the Hale fire case or even Laura Hale's murder and he keeps denying, saying there's not much to cover anyways. And Stiles always takes his wedding ring off to film his videos, 'cause his ring has the Hale Pack symbol in it and he doesn't want any hunters stumbling across his videos or something, so he says he's married but isn't really the type of jewelry so he doesn't wear a ring, when people ask.

One day Stiles is livestreaming and is talking about a few updates of a few cases, when someone asks again for him to cover the Hale fire and Laura Hale's murder and Stiles is just like "There's not much information about it, so I don't really want to bring something so incomplete here." and when the same person points out he's from Beacon Hills and is a Sheriff's son and he can get the info if he wants to, Stiles says "Well, not really. There's not enough police files either." and people start to say to him that if he doesn't want to cover the cases, he should just say it instead of keep giving excuses to not cover it. So he says "Yeah, I don't wanna cover it. I have a personal reason to why I don't want to cover it, so please stop asking."

Stiles is venting about it to Derek after this specific live and Derek says "Well, you can cover it in a different way, then." Stiles is confused so he asks "Different how?" Derek replies "You can just give a resume about it and then you can interview Cora, Peter and me as the victims. It would be something and your followers would stop asking you to cover it." Stiles immediately goes like "No, I won't put you nor Cora nor Peter through having to relive the fire." and Derek just says "For you? We don't mind. And yes, I've talked to Cora and Peter about it, I know your followers have been bugging you about it for a while now, so..." Stiles sighs and says "If you guys are really sure about it...But Sourwolf, babe, I really don't wanna make you or Cora or Peter uncomfortable." Derek kisses Stiles and says "You won't, that's our decision."

So Stiles does exactly that, but people are still curious on why the Hales agreed to do this interview when they've always denied interviews. Stiles covers it by saying the Hales were old family friends and that's why he didn't want to cover the Hale fire or Laura's murder.
