Melissa when held hostage: Threatening to hurt her captor if he’s harmed her husband, shutting down his villain song, defiantly telling him he’ll never get what he really wants from her.
Josh when held hostage: So you know the story of Air Bud?

Me: i hate plots of characters forcing others to talk with the parents they dont wanna see ever again, like they have to forgive the horrors just cause they are family 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Also me: Talk to daddy talk talk to daddy he will rock you when you are sad he left you alone but maybe he's grown so talk to daddy talk talk to daddy odds are you are gonna outlive him so you really oughta forgive him there's a chance that he's homicidal but the bond between you is vital

So Josh and Melissa accidentally created Schmicago when they taught the citizens of Schmigadoon to how to change. It progressed the musical decade they were in, and changed who they are. Schmigadoon can not be visited again because it’s gone.
At least that’s what I’m thinking so far. I could be wrong.
But if I’m right I hope they have to come to terms with accidentally erasing their friends from existence.

I love Patrick Page doing a big melodramatic song about how he can’t find someone to love and who will love him back…and then the next second he’s like “I’m going to marry this woman who is already in a happy and stable marriage.”
I didn’t think he could find another character as much of a disaster king as Hades BUT HE FOUND A WAY.

it's time for us to go.
are you sure? it's going to be a constant struggle, with more bad days than good ones, and a very good chance you'll end up right back where you were.
isn't that the whole point?

Jenny’s line in “Something Real” is so gut-wrenching to me.
I don’t want to be cured; don’t try to save me because that’s absurd
Because yes, Jenny has acknowledged her show persona multiple times, especially through her interactions with Melissa (which I’m sure made Melissa’s “betrayal” hurt so much more— because Melissa knew Jenny needed that gig).
But in light of the episode, it quietly emphasizes that argument Jenny was making earlier. She doesn’t want help. Even though she acted ditzy during the “Talk to Daddy” sequence, you can tell she was very much aware of what Josh and Melissa were doing.
I think it’s fair to argue too that no one in Schmicago wants to be saved, unlike the residents of Schmigadoon (who had the “untamable” tamed, the outsider feel welcomed in, the closeted set free, etc). And with the finale coming around the corner, I’m really interested to see what Melissa and Josh’s takeaway will be. How do you reach the ones who don’t want to be reached? Or rather, how can you support others in a truly impactful way? And how does that support lead to one’s self-fulfillment?
