Comics are not meant to have a consistent internal timeline. They take place whenever they need to, which is usually whatever the present day is, even if that amount of time hasn't gone by within the story. That's just how it works. Trying to create a consistent timeline for a comic is pointless to attempt.
So I went through Impulse taking notes on whatever each issue reveals of when it's set. I didn't try to reconcile anything--that's impossible--but I wanted to see if there was at least a vague notion of the passage of time. Here are some observations about what I found.
The year is always whatever the current year is. The earliest issues are set in 1995 and the last one in 2002, even though it hasn't been seven years for the characters. (Although there's an issue late in the series in which Bart talks about his eagerness for high school and how he feels like he's been in middle school for years.)
Bart and Max seem to arrive in Manchester in May, although Bart’s schoolgoing doesn’t seem to match that—he’s not on summer break shortly after.
The first six issues cover maybe less than a couple of weeks. By #9, Bart is said to have been with Max for at least two months.
In #24, Bart tells his mother that he’s been in the twentieth century for a couple years, but this seems like too long a time period for what we’ve seen of his adventures. It’s probable that it only has felt like two years to him. In #25, Bart is said to have been with Max for “months and months.” In #32, set maybe a few weeks after Bart’s return from his attempt to move back to the thirtieth century, it’s said to have been nearly six months since #6, which takes place over a week into Bart’s time in Manchester. So my best guess is that Bart’s time with Max before Meloni comes to get him (#1-24) is about four or five months.
Bart’s first Halloween is in #44, while he and Max are living with Helen. There are two separate Christmases shown in surprisingly close proximity in #45 and #57, as well as the story “No, Bart, There Is No Santa Claus” in DC Universe Holiday Bash #3, which was released at the same time as #44 and might be the same Christmas as in #45. Bart’s first April Fool’s Day is seen in #50 and is set during his living at Helen’s house and after his joining Young Justice; since it’s a sequence that Thad is watching, it’s possible that it takes place earlier chronologically than where it’s placed.
Inertia makes himself known to Bart on the day of a Fourth of July fair in #52 (yet Bart recently got a report card). But by #54, it’s already September and just before the start of school. Where did the rest of the summer go? #57 is Christmas Eve and #59 is Valentine’s Day. #63 shows a June date on a test but by #67, weeks later, it’s around Halloween. There’s no way to make sense of this.
The Mercury Falling arc lasts several weeks. Over a week later, Bart starts to realize he’s romantically interested in Carol, only to lose her to distant time traveling during the Dark Tomorrow arc, which takes place over about a day. Within the next few weeks, he joins Young Justice in doing their part in a war, goes to Apokolips, experiences his own death vicariously, goes into a coma for several days, and returns to school the following week. Around this time, he decides to give up being Impulse and his membership in Young Justice. He resumes the Impulse identity about two weeks later. As little as less than a week later, Max disappears into the speed force. About a week after, Bart moves to Denver to live with the Garricks.
Therefore, Bart goes through a series of traumas and dramatic life changes within the space of three to four months. His losing Carol and his not-quite-death and coma take place over about a month, and it’s no wonder that he has a depressive episode in #78. Not even he can be that resilient for that long.
In #71, the narration states that Max has been Bart’s mentor “for the past year or so.” In #75, Carol claims that she and Bart have known each other “a couple of years,” although she has known him for as long as he’s been with Max—is she rounding up? In #79, it’s said that it’s been “a little over a year” since Bart and Max moved in with Helen, which would suggest that they’ve lived in Manchester a year and a half at most. The final issue, #89, which takes place not very long after that, states that it’s been “a few short years” since Bart became Impulse, which would include the unspecified amount of time he spent living with Wally and Iris after arriving in the twentieth century, before he and Max moved to Manchester.
Given this information, the timeline that makes the most sense to me is for Bart to have spent a few months at most with Wally and Iris in Keystone City, then four or five months with just Max in Manchester, then about a year and a half with Max and Helen, and then less than a month with the Garricks in Denver by the end of the series—a bit over two years. If time were passing normally, by the end of the series, Bart should be about sixteen (or four, chronologically) and in eleventh grade.

Predictors of Fat Mass Index and Overweight/ Obesity Among Public and Private SchoolGoing Adolescents in Hohoe, Volta Region, Ghana: A Cross-Sectional Study
Childhood obesity may lead to obesity in adolescent and adulthood and has serious public health consequences. Therefore, this study sought to determine the predictors of overweight/obesity among School-Going Adolescents (SGAs) in Hohoe, Volta region, Ghana to inform health promotion and policies. This was a cross-sectional study among 400 SGAs aged 10-19 years. A pre-tested, semi-structured questionnaire was used to obtain information on background characteristics, eating patterns and Physical Activity (PA). Weight and height were measured following standard procedures and transformed into z-scores using WHO Anthro+. Percentage Body Fat (%BF) and Fat Mass Index (FMI) were determined using Omron® body composition monitor. Regression models were used to determine predictors of FMI and overweight/obesity. The mean age was 15±2 years, 56.8% were females, 52.0% attended private schools and 63% ate 3X daily but breakfast was the most skipped meal (26.0%). Overweight/obesity prevalence was 15.1%. Mean %BF and FMI were 18.61±10.83 and 3.81±2.30. Sex, school type, weight and fat-free mass were significant predictors of FMI. Daily moderate PA>30 minutes and vigorous PA>60 minutes decreased adolescents’ odds of being overweight/obesity by 67% and 63% respectively compared to PA time≤30 minutes (p=0.01). Playing at school is protective against adolescent overweight/ obesity (AOR=0.34; 95%CI=0.12-.94; p=0.04). Playing at school attenuated the possible effect of school type on adolescents’ odds of being overweight/obese. Increasing PA at or outside the school should be encouraged to curtail the upsurge of overweight/obesity among adolescents.

Causes of bad breath ?
Bad breath is a common health problem which greately affects the daytoday activities of somany people. The offenssive odor from the mouth is unpleasent to those who come in close contact with bad breathers. The problem will be doubled by psychological trauma leading to depression. The sufferers from this problem wil be isolated from the society. This can even lead to marital disharmony.
Literally speaking all humanbeings are badbreathres. Oral cavity contains millions of anaerobic bacteria like fusobacterium and actinomyces which acts on the protein of food materials and putrifies them. This process results in the formation of offenssive gases like hydrogen sulphide, methyl mescaptan, cadaverin, skatol, putrescine ect causing bad odor. If oral hygiene is not maintained properly all will suffer from bad breath. Most of us control this by regular brushing, tongue cleaning and gargling. Even after maintining cleanliness in the mouth some individuals suffer from offenssive smell due to various causes which has to be diagnosed and treated properly.
Tumblr media
Some common causes of bad breath.
1) Poor oral hygiene:
If oral hygiene is not maintained properly the mouth becomes the seat for millions of bacteria which produce offenssive gases by degrading the food debris. Bad breath is severe in those who do not brush their teeth regularly and clean their mouth after every food. Snacks taken inbetween meals can also produce bad breath because of improper cleaning. Badbreath is common in almost all people in the morning on waking. During sleep there is less production of saliva .Saliva has got some antibacterial properties which help to keep the mouth clean. Saliva conains oxygen molecules which is needed to make oral cavity aerobic. So the reduction in it’s quantity during sleep makes a favourable condition for anaerobic bacteria.
2) Food habits:
The main cause of bad smell is due to degradation of protein by the bacteria and hence all food products rich in protein favours bad breath. Meat, fish, milk products, eggs, cakes, nuts, pear and ect can cause bad breath. Some food articles can produce particular type of smell which may be unpleasent. Raw onion can produce typical bad smell. It is said that an apple a day keeps the doctor away,a raw onion a day keeps everybody away. Eating groundnuts can also produce bad smell. However if proper cleaning is done smell can be reduced irrespective of the nature of food. Irregularity in timing of food can also produce bad breath. Small food articles taken in between the meals can also produce bad smell.
3) Biofilm:
There is formation of a thin sticky coating called biofilm on the tongue and oral mucosa. This coating is thick on the posterior aspect of the tongue where millions of gram negative bacteriae are seen .The thick coating on the tongue is always associated with badbreath. Even a thin biofilm can make anaerobic condition favourable for bacterial proliferation.
4) Dental caries:
This is a destructive process causing decalcification with distruction of enamel and dentine resulting in cavitisation of the tooth. These are produced mainly by the lactobacilli . Food particles are deposited inside these cavities and are putrified by the anaerobic bacteria producing bad smell. Normal brushing will not remove the food debris easily and hence they are putrified completely. Caries are common in schoolgoing children and in those who donot maintain proper oral hygiene .Calcium and vitamin deficiency can also predispose caries.
5) Gingivitis:
Gum is a mucus membrane with supporting connective tissue covering the tooth bearing borders of the jaw .The main function of gum is protection .Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gum .Due to various causes gum tissue get infected resulting in swelling, pain and discharge. If the condition become worse the infection spread towards peridontal area leading to continuous discharge called pyorrhoea. Some times the infection goes deep producing alveolar abscess with discharge of pus. Infection can even reach the bone causing osteomyelitis. All these conditions can produce offenssive smell.
6) Gum retraction:
When the gums retract from the teeth a gap is developed which will lodge food particles and cause bad breath.
7) Dental plaques and tartar deposits; Plaques and tartar is deposited mainly in the gaps between the teeth and gum. This will provide shelter for the food debris and bacteria causing bad breath.
8) Ulcerative lesions& coatings:
Almost all ulcerative lesions of the mouth are associated with bad breath. These lesions may be caused by bacteria, viruses, food allergies or due to autoimmune disorders. Apthous ulcer is the commonest amoung ulcerative lesions. Others are herpes, fungal infections, vincents angina, infectious mononucleosis, scarlet fever, diphtheria, drug reactions and ect. Cancerous ulcers produce severe bad breath. All fungal infections produce white coating(candidiasis). Leucoplakia is a white thick patch on the mucus membrane of the mouth & tongue. It is considered as a precancerous condition. Offenssive breath is associated with these conditions.
9) Diseases of the salivary glands:
Saliva is very useful to supply oxygen to all parts of the oral cavity. Even a thin film of coating called biofilm can provide an anaerobic condition in the mouth. Saliva can wet these layers and make an aerobic condition which is unfavourable for the bacteria .Any condition which reduces the production of saliva can increase bacterial activity. Some times the salivary duct is obstructed by stones or tumors.Cancer of the salivary gland is associated with offenssive odor. In suppurative parotitis purulant dischrge in to the mouth causes bad breath.
10) Tonsillitis:
Tonsils are a pair of lymphoid tissue situated in the lateral wall of oropharynx. Inflammation of the tonsil is called tonsillitis. Bad breath is seen in both acute and chronic tonsillitis. Quinsy or peritonsillar abscess can also produce bad breath.
11) Tonsillar plaques & tonsillar fluid:
If bad breath persists even after maintaining proper oral hygeine there is possibility of this condition. Serous fluid secreated from the folds of tonsil is very offenssive. Some patients complain that they hawk some cheesy materials from the throat;which are very offenssive in nature. These are formed inside the tonsillar crypts which contain thousands of bacteriae. In such conditions tonsillectomy gives noticiable relief from bad breath.
12) Pharyngitis& pharyngial abscess:
Pharynx is a fibromuscular tube which forms the upper part of the digestive & respiratory tract. Inflmmation of the pharynx is called pharyngitis, caused mainly by bacteria and viruses. Bad breath is present in pharyngitis along with other signs like cough and throat irritation. Abscesses in the wall of pharynx can also produce offenssive discharge of pus in to the throat.   13) Dentures:
Denture users may complain about bad smell due to lodgement of small food debris in between. Proper brushing may not be possible in denture users especially fixed dentures.
14) Tobacco:
Tobacco chewing is associated with bad breath. The smell of tobacco itself is unpleasent for others. Tobacco can irritate the mucus membrane and cause ulcers and coatings. Gingivitis and pyorrhoea are common in tobacco chewers. Tartar is deposited on the teeth mainly near the gums. Tobacco chewers get gastric acidity with eructations. All these causes offenssive smell.
15) Smoking:
Smokers always have bad smell. It can also produce lesions in the mouth & lungs causing bad breath.Smoking increases carbon dioxide in the oral cavity & reduces oxygen level, causing a favourable condition for bacteria. Smoking reduses appetite & thirst hence acid peptic disease is common in chain smokers.
16) Lesions in the nose & ear:
Bad breath is occasionally seen in sinusitis(infection of para nasal sinuses). In case of post nasal dripping bad breath is common due to the presence of protein in the discharges. These proteins are degraded by the bacteria. Infection in the middle ear with discharge of pus in to the throat through the eustachian tube(passage from middle ear to the throat)can also cause offenssive odor. Chronic rhinitis(infection of mucus membrane of nose) and forign bodies in the nose can also produce bad smell in the expired air.
17) Diabetes mellitus:
Mostly all diabetic patients suffer from bad breath. Coated tongue, ulcers &coatings in the mouth ,increased sugar level in tissues ect are responsible for bad breath.Bacterial growth in diabetic patient is very faster than non diabetic individuals.
18) Fevers:
Bad breath is common in almost all fevers. Even an acute fever can produce bad breath. Severe bad breath is seen in typhoid .Other infectious diseases like Tuberculosis , AIDS ect produce bad smell.    19) Fasting & dehydration:
Dry mouth favours bacterial activity. So any condition which produce dryness in the mouth makes the breath offenssive. Eventhough the food particles are known to produce bad breath, fasting can also produce the same. Production of saliva is also reduced during fasting. Chewing and swallowing also helps to keep the mouth clean.
20) Bedridden patients:
Bedridden patients suffer from offenssive breath due to thick coating on the tongue. water intake is also limited in these patients. Regurgitation of food aggravates the condition. Since they talk less aeration in the oral cavity is reduced which favours anaerobic bacteria to become active.
21) Diseases of stomach & esophagus:
Eructation of gas and food produce unpleasent smell. Abnormality in the function of lower sphincter can allow the food to regurgitate upwards causing bad breath. Bad breath is also common in gastritis, gastric ulcer and cancer of stomach.
22) Intestinal diseases:
Bad breath is common in patients suffering from ulcerative lesions of intestine like ulcerative collitis..Other diseases are malabsorption syndrome intestinal tuberculosis, peritonitis ect.
23) Diseases of lungs:
Lung diseases like pneumonia, lung abscess, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, lung cancer ect can produce bad odor during expiration.
24) Liver disorders:
Liver diseases like hepatitis, cirrhosis, can cause bad breath.Gall bladder diseases with vomiting also causes unpleasent odor.
25) Psychiatric patients:
Bad breath is common in psychotic patients due to poor hygiene, irregular food habits, less water intake and ect.
26) Somatisation disorder:
This is a psychiatric disorder charecterised by the presence of a physical symptom that suggest a medical illness .These patients come with physical complaints like pain, nausea difficult respiration, bad smell ect. This condition is diagnosed after detailed examination of the patient with all investigations.Since this is a psychiatric disorder it has to be managed with a psychological approach.

FAILURE IS THE STEPPING STONE TO SUCCESS
Hi, young friends!
All of you have got your results and most of you have been promoted to the next class. You’ve probably bought brand new books and uniforms too. There must be celebrations going on at home with sweets and other delicacies.
Some of you may have performed exceptionally well and made your teachers and parents proud. Some of you may have performed average. And a few of you may not have been able to perform the way your teachers/parents had desired. And you may have been retained in the same class.
Relax! There’s nothing to be embarrassed of. Failure is not the end of the world. Even Albert Einstein performed poorly in some of his exams when he was a schoolgoing child. Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times while trying to develop a commercially viable light bulb. He is known to have said, “I have not failed 10,000 times. I have succeeded in proving that those 10,000 ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work.”
So, you also need to find a way that will work for you. Firstly, identify the factors that led to this failure. It could be excessive usage of the mobile phone, spending hours on social media, not having a proper plan, or not sticking to a routine. As soon as you identify the factors, get to work on them.
You could start by having a plan. Planning is crucial to achieve success. Without a plan, you’ll be like a rudderless ship. Make a plan/routine as soon as you can and make sure you stick to it. I’m sure you agree that social media wastes a lot of time. So, please limit its usage. Another distraction could be playing games on the phone. It’s extremely time-consuming. If you want to use the phone, put an alarm and stop using the phone the moment your alarm goes off. Apart from these reasons, you could be distracted because you have problems at home, maybe your parents keep fighting all the time, making it difficult for you to concentrate on studies. In that scenario, you’ll have to take the help of your school counsellor/teacher or a relative you trust. Or do you find it difficult to concentrate or retain stuff while studying? There are various tests that can be conducted to know if you need help. You could speak to your school counsellor/teacher about this.
Once you stick to a plan, minimise distractions and identify and resolve all factors which had led to failure. I’m sure half of the battle will be won. After that you just need to work a little harder. And everything will fall into place.
And even if it doesn’t fall into place, be calm and keep working hard because one day you will definitely succeed. Please do not ever think of harming yourself. You are much more precious than anything else and results are just a part of life, not life itself. Your life is the most beautiful gift and always remember that your parents and teachers adore you. Do not do anything that will hurt you and them. If you have thoughts of self-harm, please discuss with your parents/school counsellor/teacher. They’ll give you the best advice.
Several other small, yet significant steps can help you stay focussed in your goals. For example, you can start maintaining a journal/diary. If you write down your thoughts daily, you’ll feel relaxed. Plus, writing everything down systematically will also help you find solutions to problems you are facing. You can also start talking a walk every day. Walking is a good exercise and it also improves brain function by increasing blood flow to the brain, thereby releasing endorphins that boost mental health. Moreover, try to eat more of homemade food rather than junk food and get at least 8–9 hours of sleep every day. Have a lot of water and fresh fruits. Diet also plays an important role in improving memory and concentration.
I hope you all find these tips useful to achieve success and, at the same time, do remember that failure is not the end of the world. And those of you who have performed well, please spare some time to help your friends who’ll benefit from your help.

For schoolgoing teens, there are a lot of distractions in the form of peer pressure, technology and devices with which they constantly remain connected online. It is a much more stressful time for them to grow up in. Science has shown that in deep sleep, the body repairs, rejuvenates and heals itself. The practise of yoga promotes deep sleep. This then translates into healthier bodies and increased energy for growing teens. All these things bring the teens into a healthier and more balanced individual.

All nations want participatory vaccine methods
Pandemics represent main public well being considerations that have an effect on your complete inhabitants, inflicting widespread human struggling, typically requiring population-scale behavioural change, and bringing in myriad new moral, authorized and medical apply paradigms. The previous two years have been a wake-up name for nations world wide to make sure that well being techniques are resilient and pandemic-prepared. Africa’s main healthcare techniques should be strengthened, and a part of the answer lies in sturdy vaccination methods, consultants say. As with many different illness outbreaks, Covid noticed the deprived in our society bearing the brunt of the consequences of the pandemic, highlighting the necessity for clear insurance policies that prioritise probably the most weak groupings of individuals. A collaborative participatory method, together with various stakeholder enter is essential, as strategic decision-making throughout pandemics falls not solely onto medical authorities and state actors, but additionally to group leaders and catastrophe administration specialists. ALSO READ: Expiry date for Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines prolonged Sustaining civil rights, livelihoods and the economic system with public well being turns into a precarious balancing act, requiring a complicated multidisciplinary understanding. Whereas the vaccine debate has quietened considerably, in SA the federal government has but to achieve its goal ratios for Covid vaccination and discussions round vaccine mandates stay on the nationwide agenda. Misinformation remains to be considered a powerful driver of vaccine hesitancy in SA. Necessary immunisations will not be new within the nation and have in any other case been extensively accepted by mother and father of schoolgoing youngsters who should be updated with commonplace immunisations earlier than being enrolled – and worldwide travellers, for instance. All nations and state actors are obliged to adjust to worldwide well being rules (IHR). These compel SA to work in the direction of vaccination targets. Having made vaccines obtainable, the SA authorities might contemplate a extra proactive method. This may increasingly entail some refocusing of values and moral nudging. The state might implement obligatory vaccinations for sure groupings like civil servants, academics and tertiary college students, if needed. One other technique beneath dialogue is to reinforce community-level accessibility by together with Covid vaccines in the usual immunisation packages which are rolled out to all residents. However, state interventions that might provoke robust public opposition have to be saved to a minimal and solely in service of particular goal outcomes. We should additionally you should definitely embrace the proof and scientific bases for choices taken, when these choices are communicated to the individuals. While rewatching Superman and Lois I noticed that in 1x11, when Clark comes home and looks at the school yearbook to look at Lana’s picture, the yearbook says class of 1998. So assuming Clark started school at the same time and age Lana did, both of them should physically be around 41 in 2021. I know it has been driving everyone nuts not knowing exactly how old Clark is supposed to be, so hope this helps.
Note: This does not take into account how long it took Clark to travel to earth, i.e. if he spent any time in suspended animation etc. Jonathan and Martha found him looking like a baby below one year of age, and since Kryptonian children do age at a similar pace as human children in a normal environment, I’m assuming when they sent him to school, his physical appearance was that of the average schoolgoing child who would be of a similar age as Lana.
Some people might contest my calculation by saying that the show is set 15 years down the future but I do believe the show is set in 2021, because for one, there has been nothing to suggest otherwise. If you want to make a grounded show you wouldn’t really set it in the future like that. When they started filming, they already knew it would premiere in 2021 so I believe they did make the show keeping this exact year in mind and not even 2020. The problems feel current, and the tech and the references do too. Contrastingly, in 1x11, when Clark and Lois first meet the tech is very early 2000s (I’m a late 90s baby living in South Asia and we had PCs like that since before I could remember) and they get married only a few years later and have the twins, who are teenagers now, so the show can’t logically be set in the future.

Just to clear something up: John was *not* frequently absent from the Innuendo sessions. Sure he went on holidays, but they all did, and with such time span that is only logical, especially when you have kids (in schoolgoing ages). And Roger and Brian also had other stuff going on, like The Cross, so they were sometimes absent as well. Sure, John did zone out of things a bit at the end, but that was only after Innuendo was finished, in 1991. He didn’t write any full songs for Innuendo, that’s true, but perhaps he was simply lacking in inspiration.

All you schoolgoing kids, take a minute to read this
Just saying..... please warm up the day before your PE prac. finals. Seriously.
That day, during the exercise, you will NOT feel any strain, but, damn, the pain’s a bitch later.
It was yesterday. Had eaten a small breakfast so as not to throw up during the practicals. And everything was going fine.
Then came the crunches. I have a back problem (a small one) and so, my teacher told me to take it easy.
We had 30 seconds to do as many crunches as possible. Most did 15 to 17.
I did 23, and even the teacher was impressed.
But guess. what.
I hadn’t warmed up the day before.
So, as soon as an hour later, at my home, I had a sudden wave of pain crashing over from my thighs. And then, an hour later, it was my back. Then, my calf muscles. Then, my abdominal muscles were on fire! I literally couldn’t walk properly yesterday.
Ate the cramp medicine, along with lots of electrolytes, and still it isn’t better. I’m walking like an old person right now.
That is kinda why I’m writing this. All I’m trying to say is - Don’t get confident  that you’ll do the prac properly. Do some exercise before getting to the main course. Warm up. My back is killing me right now.

Bearing the Great Gender Burden
Afghan women see their sex as a liability. Their schoolgoing daughters see their schools closed. The patriarchal Taliban ends hurting the Afghan economy. Read more in the latest post on poliphoon.com: "Bearing the Great Gender Burden".
Women in Afghanistan are up in arms. Fatigued by fundamentalism, they are sinking under the burden of their sex. As they plod along a promiseless Afghan terrain, they are leaving behind drag marks of despair and disgust. Womanhood and school education have become prime casualties of Taliban terror today. Ironically, Taliban means ‘students’ in the Pashto language, but Taliban is proving to be the…
