On my way to Toronto to become an Oxygen Advantage Certified Breathing Instructor. AIRWAY IS KING We take for granted the physiology of proper breathing. Of course we breathe all day but do we breathe properly? Sadly, for most of us the answer is a resounding no. You mean you need to be taught how to breathe? You mean it’s not automatic after birth? The breath can either be allowed to run haphazardly and create havoc in the body and mind, or it can become a part of your constant awareness and be harmoniously coordinated. Once the breath is integrated into your awareness, you’ll wonder how you ever got along before. It’s not easy to learn to breathe right. It takes dedicated practice to RELINQUISH the idea that a deep breath filling the lungs is best. It’s NOT. A shorter more rhythmical breath into the diaphragm is the KEY. Stanford scientists have identified a small group of neurons that communicates goings-on in the brain’s respiratory control center to the structure responsible for generating arousal throughout the brain. MAR 30 2017 Mark Krasnow and his colleagues have identified a tiny cluster of neurons that link breathing to relaxation, attention, excitement and anxiety.  Try it. Breathe slowly and smoothly. A pervasive sense of calm descends. Now breathe rapidly and frenetically. Tension mounts. Why? Because when faced with stress we tend to open our mouth which only fills the top of the Lungs with oxygen and activates pain receptors in our chest which causes a fight or flight reaction. It also drastically reduces the amount of CO2 in the blood which therefore decreases the hemoglobin release of oxygen into the blood stream. Consequently, the problem we begin to confront when we learn about breathing is that we must bring back into our awareness a whole area of ourselves that we’ve cut off, gradually re-integrating it into our consciousness. The more we make it a part of our constant awareness, the more it becomes a vital dimension of ourselves. #quantumfitnessorg #brybeast #breatheless #breathlighttobreathright #scienceofbreath #oxygenadvantage #oxygenadvantageinstructor #nasalbreathingisbest #nitricoxide #moleculeoftheyear #meditation (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/BmvvxE-HSWT/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=6d3tdtzykmmt

"Prana is the infinite, all-pervading energy of the universe- cosmic energy.. control prana.. control all energies of the universe- physical and mental.. body and mind.. All aspects and principles that constitute the universe, or macrocosm, are embodied in all the microcosmic forms that constitute the universe, just as the mighty ocean is completely represented in a single, small drop of water from that ocean." #pranayama #scienceofbreath #everythingiseverything #breath #breathe #fortegreenepark #2017 #winterbeauty #svadhyaya

If you Google autonomic nervous system you will most likely read it acts largely unconsciously and this could not be farther from the truth. Yogis, Buddhists monks, and varied people from all walks of life have come to the realization that the #ANS is fully under their control by way of the breath. My focus as a human performance specialist is teaching and empowering individuals with the tools that they possess to heal themselves. The main issue in the West is lifelong programming that we do not have control. Modern scientists give importance to breathing exercises only from the viewpoint of oxygen intake. One gains control over the auto gnomic nervous system through will power and focus on breath. The more the mind is dissipated, the more the will is scattered. When the mind is made one pointed, the will power is strengthened, and with the help of the will power the autonomic nervous system functions the way WE WANT it to. Personally, I go about it 3 ways 1. Through the conscious zero point focus of one’s own breath. 2. Through the Psych K process where we speak directly to the subconscious and use whole brain postures to reprogram it to the conscious desires that we truly want to embody. 3. Rebalancing the enteric nervous system #guthealth - your body‘s largest brain. More information is sent from body to brain then vice versa. But what if we could better control how the brain receives the bodies signals? A colleague of mine and #iom family team member is leading the way in brain science with #BrainHealthCoaching The optimization of brain health through movement, Exercise, and fitness. Variability of different exercise modalities is key to maintaining a rich, diverse set of benefits to the brain structure and function. Airway is King! Specifically, through the nose and never the mouth unless talking. We take for granted the physiology of proper breathing. Of course we breathe all day but do we breathe properly? Sadly, for most of us the answer is resounding no. You mean you need to be taught how to breathe? You mean it’s not automatic after birth? The breath can either be allowed to run haphazardly and create havoc in the body and mind (think long term chronic dis-ease), or it can become a part of your constant awareness and be harmoniously coordinated. Once The breath is integrated into your awareness, you’ll wonder how you ever got along before. It’s not easy to learn to breathe right. It takes dedicated practice to relinquish the idea that a deep breath filling the lungs is best. It’s NOT. A shallower more rhythmical breath into the diaphragm is the KEY. Why? Because when faced with stress we tend to open our mouth which only fills the top of the Lungs whereas the bottom area is where all the blood is. It also activates baroreceptors in our blood vessels which cause the vessels to vasoconstriction activating the fight or flight response. This drastically reduces the amount of CO2 in the blood which therefore, decreases the hemoglobin release of oxygen into the blood stream. #quantumfitnessorg #brybeast #breatheless #breatheright #shallow #scienceofbreath (at Heaven On Earth.)
