"Starting from Scratch" That was the theme of the October @upcrate box and I finally came around to do this. It's such a different way of working/drawing, but so fun to do it again after some time. I never scratched on a surface before that I prepared myself. However, I really like how you can delute the black ink and play with the different greys and scratch on top. I love the @ampersand_art scratchboards or this time clayboards for this type of art. As a motif I chose this Christmas Wild West scenery greatly inspired by a painting by Jack Sorenson @jacksorensonfineart I found on Pinterest. I’ve been eyeing up scratchboard art over the last years, gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! I figured it was a skill beyond my abilities. Then I went looking for something in my my box of art bits...there’s a lot of random things in there.... and lo, somewhere along the timeline I picked up a couple of small scratchboards?! A sample from purchasing something else? Decided to give scratchboard a go. Oh no. I am in love. Am not good at it, but I can see where this can go. Time and practice is 99% of the art battle. Expect more scratchings very soon!
