“supervillain”. actually kind of even in heroic vs villanous acts, but he operates outside of the shiny sparkly government-approved League so he’s a ~bad guy~, branded a dangerous vigilante terrorist. very suspicious of and thorny towards “humans” with abilities even though he is one (didn’t start out as one though). one of them, a hero of the League, lost him his family and most of his limbs for very little reason so he’s a little eensy bit salty (mitski screaming.mp3). trying to dismantle them from the inside out with the help of his silly robot wasp costume

HISTORY 

‘ adam and eve. has that lost meaning as well? to think that this country would abandon nature... you could say it’s only right that god has punished us. after all, he is no longer in heaven. ’ 

a child from a father and mother— in other words, through natural circumstances— ciconia born. was he born to fulfill the wishes of other people? his mother truly did love him with all her heart— she perished in an experiment when he was just a child. he saw this with his own eyes, but the memories are repressed.

his father was struck with grief. he needed her because he never loved himself. he felt nothing for the world, but was afraid of his only son. he thought he could never love him the way he needed, so he ran away in the end, leaving shinji someone else’s care shortly after his mother’s death.

under AOU laws to protect the ciconia born, his father could not abandon him on a technical standpoint, so he was unorthodox in his methods. using NERV’s influence and his power as the commander, he eventually gave up ’partial parental duties’ in two stages thus far. (1) a temporary arrangement : as child, shinji lived with his elementary school  teacher in another prefecture. (2) current arrangement / subject to change : this year, he resides with misato katsuragi in tokyo with duties at NERV with an legal understanding to work together with his father to strengthen their familial relationship—

nothing is ever that simple. as the years went by, shinji realized : maybe relationships between people only work on paper— after all, under the law, apparently it’s enough that they’re in the same city and that he works for him.

and he still can’t bring himself to hate his father.

a withdrawn and polite boy whose “jaded attitude” towards life becomes more apparent the closer you are to him ( with the occasional snark ). agreeable and a quick leaner. despite being a young person, experiencing parental abandonment and the loneliness that followed had led him to avoid using his selcom as a child, further isolating him from others his age. the idea of quick and easy communication has never came true for him. though, what he actually fears is being rejected and emotionally hurt by others— even in the age where connecting with others has been easier than ever before, he’s developed the hedgehog’s dilemma.

his fondness toward old technology might stem from that fact. since years ago, he frequently listens to a SDAT player, a vintage music player from the B3W era. because of this, he’s usually seen with earbuds as he goes about his day— with that obvious appearance of being occupied by something else, most people seem to bother him less despite giving him the occasional look, which he doesn’t mind.

though, while he’s not one to seek friendships, they happen as they do. in that case, he might slowly be able to break out of his shell. since his arrival to tokyo, he’s been ordered to keep his selcom on at all times, to which he usually obeys, using it rather minimally. he may appear to be confused about recent updates and trends. he still carries a cellphone for his own familiar comfort.

in terms of duties, he’s better at following orders and/or being part of a team due to his passive nature, but is independent when it comes to things outside of combat. this is currently the focal point of his training, to improve his solo skills.  

HABBITS: frequently turns his selcom off while wandering the city and its outskirts

FEARS: open water and heights ( both much mitigated as of present ), being hated

— HIGH P3 LEVELS. he’s been gifted with high parallel processing power since a very young age ( despite not being fond of it ). on the other hand, his self affirmation is exceptionally low outside of combat duties ( his emotions and various levels of PTSD have occasionally hindered his abilities and relationship with authority ).

— SNIPING INTUITION. in addition to weapons typical of a gauntlet knight, his dimensional vortex also holds an unique arsenal of enhanced guns*. they’re long ranged weapons built with a physical likeness to various firearms even dating back to the B3W era. he’s even able to utilize and direct the firing of multiple GUNs simultaneously on top of missiles, but this takes immense concentration.
