If season 6 laid the foundation for canon Destiel season 8 raised the support beams. The sheer amount of interaction and emotion between them. The way they understand each other, trust each other, need each other. I was on the edge of my SEAT watching this season waiting for a relapse into season 7 and them being so at odds, but NO. The trust they’d built was too strong for that by this point. Dean knew, he KNEW that if something weird was up with Cas, it wasn’t Cas himself that was the problem. Literally I will never be okay and normal about this. Season 7 Dean could barely look at him and season 8 he looks up through bloody eyes on his KNEES and says “this isn’t you.” I can’t breathe.

I need to know who wrote Buckleming's episodes in S8.

There's no way they ACTUALLY did bcuz 3 of the 4 had some of the most memorable Destiel scenes/lines AND outside of that were really good.

BUT of course they blew it w/ the racist, sexist, disgusting 'Man's Best Friend w/ Benefits' that no one would ever question the authenticity, bcuz they CLEARLY wrote it. 🤢

Thinking about dean and benny hooking up in purgatory is so funny to me.

Because what? Dean spends the day killing monsters and asking 'wheres the angel?', they have a quick moment together, and then dean sits to pray to cas (which he always does aloud and did Every Night).

No wonder benny dislikes him immediately.

The thing is, it's not that Sam was skeptical of Benny. It's that he was SO confrontational about Benny from the word go, and like. Tried to use the fact of Benny to deflect from his own egregious lack of judgment? It was weird behavior that kind of reads as Sam being angry Dean has anyone other than him on one level, and on another level reads as Sam trying to enforce Dean's old rigid anti-monster beliefs when Dean no longer wants to, even though I don't think that's what the writers were going for.

It's a very weird characterization for Sam that makes little sense and makes him insufferable for the first half of the season.

7. Best cinematography moment

Cas' entrance is iconic af, but i have to go with the angels falling at the end of season 8.. 

there's So Much in this scene: Cas under a starry night sky stepping out of a forest turning the seasons is beautiful, then we cut to Dean watching the angels fall with the church steeple silhouette, plus we actually see an angel fall! (trueform would've been better but it being a vessel doesn't detract from the epicness of this moment)

it wasn't just The Best visually awesome moment in the series, it was the best use of special fx in the entire show, my fave season cliffhanger, and featured a bunch of stuff for meta lovers.  

and now I'm thinking about Dean's habit of not knowing a good thing when he sees it/not letting himself have it, yet he recognises Bad Shit right away. I'm thinking about Cas storming into that barn in a hail of sparks and Dean's response versus him watching the angels fall and worrying if Cas is among them.
