As the sunsets on the season and we transition to September and the later part of the year, let’s say our goodbyes with a convention to celebrate each other! With lots of conventions shut down this year we may not be able to go to cons in person but we can do them here!

Our 2020 Self Ship con starts the August 30th and ends September 6th!

Join us as we gather together and appreciate each other’s self ships and creative abilities!

All you have to do is take part in any way you see fit! Below are the ways you can participate!

A dealers room: Create ideas for what kinds of merch would be for you and your F/O!!!!) If you actually sell any kind of merch, link us!

Panels: Give us a PowerPoint or presentation demonstrating the history of their ship or anything they want others to know about it. Anything to do with your F/O is fine also. Write an essay or anything relating to self shipping !

Q&A: Make a list of questions or prompts to interview con-goers or characters with!! Get to know ships

Maid cafe/refreshments: Make yourself some moodboards related to what you and your F/O might serve ! Create a menu (or prompts) for people to write about!

Artist alley: Promoting yourself as an artist! If you do commissions those will be held up high for people to see. If you so desire, taking requests from people is also welcome (though don’t wear yourself out please)!

COSPLAY!! Draw pictures of yourselves cosplaying, dress up as one of your insert or even your F/O, talk about who you’d cosplay. Just general fun thoughts!

In the final stretch i’ll be encouraging a take over so people and their F/Os can talk!

Feel free to bring F/Os of all kinds, not just romantic!!

As you walk into the cafe, a tall purple elf walks up and hands you a menu. Inside are a variety of different foods common in Suramar, accompanied by swirling cursive text that, while pleasant to look at, is unfortunately near-impossible to read. The purple elf, who introduces himself as Runas, seems rather amused by your menu-related conundrum, and leads you to a seat while rambling off various things about the menu items before taking your order. A slightly smaller blue elf, who you identify as "Serleil" from his nametag, passes by your table shortly afterwards to drop off your food, but he doesn't seem to be very interested in conversation.

Oh... look! Whatever you ordered from the cafe seems to have a small piece of paper attached to the side of the plate.

Gummy Wyrms: What are you and your F/Os go-to snacks for the movie theater? If you sneak snacks in (because honestly who doesn't), then how do you go about doing it?

Shaldor'ice Cream: What are you and your F/Os favorite carnival/amusement park games? Do either of you try to cheat the more unfair or rigged games?

Fresh Arcfruit: Do you or any of your F/Os have a garden? What do you grow in your garden, if you have one?

Mana Biscuit: Have you ever tried to cook with any of your F/Os? If so, how did it turn out?

Arcway Bisque: Do you or any of your F/Os have any favorite autumn activities that you are looking forward to doing this fall?

Nightpear: What is a song that reminds you of your F/O, whether it be of just them or your ship as a whole?

Midnight Morel: Where is you and your F/Os favorite place to take a stroll? If stroll-taking isn't really your thing, where is you and your F/Os favorite place to just relax and chill out?

Mana-Eel Eggs: Do either you or your F/O have a favorite food that the other just completely refuses to try?

As the self ship convention comes to a close I just wanna say a few things:

First of all, thank you so much to @selfshipping-port @nougatships and anyone else involved in planning this. I can't imagine the work and planning that went into this and, as with all of their events, Nougat did a fantastic job here.

I didn't get to participate as much as I was planning when I found out about the con, i had so many ideas that didn't end up coming to light due to stuff happening irl, but that just means that I can save them for next time we get a con.

To everyone that made ask memes and art, your work has been a joy to see. I'm really happy to have seen so many people participate in this.

Once again, thank you so much to @nougatships for making this con a reality. I hope whatever you choose to plan next goes just as well as this.

When I read the words "maid café" on the event post, all I could think of was drawing my f/os in maid/butler outfits.
