If I have to read ONE MORE TIME that Elinor Dashwood deserves a "stronger" man than Edward Ferrars...
Like excuse me? What exactly about Elinor Girlboss Dashwood's character implied that she wanted anything other than a malewife?

I was today years old when I realized Anne Steele's doctor is not a medical man but a doctor in divinity.
The fact that I remember minutiae from this novel such as Colonel Brandon's Avignon sister, but that THIS text below completely went over my head isn't helping.
Edward have got some business at Oxford, he says; so he must go there for a time; and after that, as soon as he can light upon a Bishop, he will be ordained. I wonder what curacy he will get! Good gracious! (giggling as she spoke) I’d lay my life I know what my cousins will say, when they hear of it. They will tell me I should write to the Doctor, to get Edward the curacy of his new living. I know they will; but I am sure I would not do such a thing for all the world. ‘La!’ I shall say directly, ‘I wonder how you could think of such a thing? I write to the Doctor, indeed!

Austen asks! 4-24
I don't know if you intended this to be inclusive, but I'll answer them all anyway (skipping over the ones that have already been answered).
6. Favorite movie adaptation
The 1995 Sense and Sensibility. To me, it strikes a good balance between being a good adaptation and making the story accessible to audiences that haven't read the book, and it's one of the few that seems to understand Austen's humor and romance.
7. Favorite Austen couple
Anne and Wentworth. Their personalities balance each other perfectly.
8. Least favorite couple
Colonel Brandon and Marianne are so frustrating to me, mostly because of how Austen writes them. They fall victim to the Marian Halcombe Problem--if you spend the whole book showing a man and woman having tons of conversations and developing a good dynamic as equals, I'm not going to believe that he's in love with her sister.
9. Most hated foe of a heroine
Isabella Thorpe is a terrible person, and I can't think of any redeeming qualities or circumstances.
11. Least favorite book
I gained a better appreciation for Sense and Sensibility on my last reread, but it's still definitely Austen's weakest novel.
12. Least favorite Austen heroine
Marianne Dashwood is a realistic teenager, but not someone that I can admire or sympathize with too much.
14. Favorite love confession from the books
Can any Austen fan say anything other than The Letter in Persuasion?
16. Least favorite film adaptation
I hold a grudge against the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, because it did nothing to make me understand the appeal of Austen, and it's a horrible adaptation, but it has such a huge influence on fandom's interpretation of the novel.
Also, every once in a while, I remember the scene in the 2008 Sense and Sensibility where Brandon gives Willoughby a "stay away from my daughter" speech, and I shudder over how creepy it is.
17. Moment that made you sad/cry while reading
Basically any scene of Fanny Price's childhood.
18. Moment that made you smile/happy while reading
Henry Tilney's introduction scene in Northanger Abbey is just pure distilled joy.
19. Moment that made you laugh while reading
I'll never forget the time I laughed out loud in class while reading one of Miss Bates' speeches in Emma.
20. Moment that made you mad while reading
I don't know if I've ever been so mad for a heroine as I was during the scene where the neglected poor, orphaned, outsider Fanny watches everyone fawn over poor, orphaned outsider Mary Crawford.
22. Favorite Austen female casting decision
I love Tamsin Greig as Miss Bates in the 2009 Emma, because I did not imagine her talkativeness as stemming from anxiety, but it was fun to see her played that way and to experience a different interpretation that still felt valid.
I'm also going to take this opportunity to mention that I love Mrs. Jennings and Sir John Middleton in 1995's Sense and Sensibility. I just grin through every scene they're in, and I especially respect them after learning that they were the only cast members that Emma Thompson didn't have to write random extra dialogue for in crowd scenes, because they just naturally knew how to talk like Regency characters.
23. Favorite Austen male casting decision
I love Johnny Lee Miller as Mr. Knightley in 2009 Emma. I don't know if he matches the character in the novel, but I love how he portrayed the dynamic with Emma.
Also, Hugh Laurie as Mr. Palmer in 1995's Sense and Sensibility is perfection. And Greg Wise as Willoughby is beautiful and charming enough to do his job of fooling you into thinking he could be the romantic lead before he proves to be an utter cad.
24. Favorite supporting character
Mrs. Jennings. Hands-down. So vulgar, nosey, and over-the-top, but beneath it all, so kind and friendly and helpful. I love her so much.

I am going to be so honest I do not think Zuko can do better than Mai. Like I get why he likes her:
Very physically affectionate towards only him and smiles almost exclusively at him so he'd have to try really hard to be jealous of literally anybody else,
tall so he doesn't have to hurt his back looking at a "littl-er" girl (ie these little girls can't save, oh aren't you a big girl now),
doesn't like 'girly' things like color or joy,
fiercely loyal and prefers him to Azula (like his mom),
will never leave him wordlessly into the night (unlike his mom),
same sense of humor,
doesn't make him furiously embarassed in the event someone innocently teases him about possibly liking a girl romantically or having a female companion,
shields his eyes when the sight of female nudity affects his sensibilities,
dresses very modestly so the sight of partial female nudity doesn't affect his sensibilties,
can be mistaken for a man (ie sideburns and height apparently confused sokka in the last episode and apparently a vindictive portion of the fanbase in the show's heyday) ,
oh and lets him project his crankiness unto her so that he can comfortably period all over the place.
She's all this and all he has to do is be pretty and let her watch him be loud and passionate about things she doesn't neccessarily care about. Oh and look her in the eye when he decides he wants to break up with her...and apologize when he hurts her feelings...but like that's negotiable.
This post is mostly sarcastic btw before the tone warriors try to jump me. I just find it funny some people are like nodding their heads unironically thinking that a maiko breakup would be "mutually beneficial". Like yeah Mai would be more than fine and was, but last we see of Zuko he's still pining over her and stuck in a one sided "platonic" love triangle with a guy he spent the entire show chasing after and thinking about.

Colonel Brandon: *takes people to Whitwell for 10 years, twice a year, misses the party once*
Willoughby: PARTY POOPER!
Quote in photo: Elinor then heard Willoughby say, in a low voice to Marianne, “There are some people who cannot bear a party of pleasure. Brandon is one of them. He was afraid of catching cold I dare say, and invented this trick for getting out of it. I would lay fifty guineas the letter was of his own writing.” (Ch 13)
Cold hard evidence that Colonel Brandon is NOT a party pooper and has in fact been THE MOST accommodating friend: A party was formed this evening for going on the following day to see a very fine place about twelve miles from Barton, belonging to a brother-in-law of Colonel Brandon, without whose interest it could not be seen, as the proprietor, who was then abroad, had left strict orders on that head. The grounds were declared to be highly beautiful, and Sir John, who was particularly warm in their praise, might be allowed to be a tolerable judge, for he had formed parties to visit them, at least, twice every summer for the last ten years. (Ch 12)

valentines LADS raf rant
Sad. Angsty. Like. It was full of miscommunications and i was kind of confused with some of the things the mc said or did. Lots of phantom of the opera connections i saw. Dark romance with angst.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Praedators reminds me of vampires with all the blood sucking and biting, but i feel like thats a “duh.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was like haters to lovers to hated lovers to loved haters to lovers
Tumblr media
Anyways i think rafayel is a “id sacrifice the entire world for you” in every universe
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He lost his memories but never forgot his artistic sensibilty. His sense of self is something he holds in high regards but he doesnt know what he wants (up until he met the mc). I also found out he lived in Italy. Im stupid and didnt know this until the event. He speaks multiple languages as well, hes so smart and artistic. Also I believe since he was an opera singer in this timeline, it means he could also sing very well in our current story?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like that in every timeline theres motifs of the mc and raf loving wach other for eternity. That they will be together forever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in every timeline he always holds an affinity for art
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And his sense of humor is very much evident in this timeline as well. Trickster.
Tumblr media
And lastly. Raf with a mullet looks like hes in a boy band. Thats all.

This passage is one of my favorites in Sense & Sensibility because it is so deliciously petty of Fanny Dashwood. She has the Norland estate, she convinced her husband to essentially give the Dashwood girls nothing, and she's still bitter that they have a better plate set than her!
The furniture was all sent around by water. It chiefly consisted of household linen, plate, china, and books, with a handsome pianoforte of Marianne’s. Mrs. John Dashwood saw the packages depart with a sigh: she could not help feeling it hard that as Mrs. Dashwood’s income would be so trifling in comparison with their own, she should have any handsome article of furniture.
Funny as this is; Fanny will always been hollow and empty inside, because she is incapable of being content.

Krisnix - Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibilty AU, for the prompts, please? 😉🌹
"You do not suppose me capable of real feeling-- do you, Klavier? I will admit that I do not wear my heart upon my sleeve as you do, but you are wrong to assume that it does not beat and burn and long just as fiercely as your own does. I have known of Mr. Edgeworth's prior claim for months now, and for those months, I have thought of little else than Phoe--than Mr. Wright and the regard that I still hold for him. But the family needs my strength and my resolve--not least after your own romantic disappointment--so I remain ever the sense to counterbalance your own sensibility."
Klavier said nothing in reply but placed a steady hand on his brother's shoulder, until Kristoph covered the hand with one of his own.
Send me a prompt and I'll write a 4-5 sentence drabble about it

Realistically, what would have happen with eliza 2 and her baby?
I cant see the colonel brandon ever kicking them out but what would have their lives be?
This is what we know:
...as soon as she recovered from her lying-in, for I found her near her delivery, I removed her and her child into the country, and there she remains. (Ch 31)
It is not clear in this section, but I believe "into the country" means a Maria Rushworth-esq cottage, not that he took her to Delaford (I asked some others and they tended to agree). It sounds like prior to Eliza's seduction, she was being treated like Harriet Smith (Emma). The only difference is that Colonel Brandon did visit her and had her at Delaford, which is why people suspect she is his natural daughter.
Due to the morals at the time, I suspect the plan is for Eliza to remain with her child in the cottage. I believe it would be considered an insult to Marianne for Eliza to live with them, Marianne herself may not mind but it would not have been a done thing.
I think the happiest outcome would be Eliza marrying someone like Robert Martin, who wouldn't mind her origins or having a stepchild (Note: the book does not reveal the gender of the baby). Otherwise I suspect that Colonel Brandon would just support her indefinitely and probably set up an annuity in his will.

She is so shameless and yet I kind of admire her for it. Kind of... A bit
Lucy, in chapter 38: My dear Edward and I have been through a lot recently, but we're together, and we're perfectly happy and in love!
Lucy, in chapter 49: Edward, I know you don't love me anymore, but that's ok because I just married your brother.
